I had a trailer issue on a work trip and dropped in on the trailer barn around closing time. I explained I had an electrical issue which was in turn a safety issue. Although it was closing time a nice gentlemen said he'd check out my trailer and see if he could figure it out. They spent about 30-40 minutes after hours fixing my trailer and making it safe for the road. I had no appointment and these folks accommodated me and sent me on my way safely. I don't even know how they stay in business. Half a dozen years ago or so, I took a trailer in to have the lights and brakes rewired. They had it for more than a week. When I picked it up at the last possible moment before we needed it back, the lights were not functioning. I stood around and waited the nearly two hours it took the guy to get the lights working. (The splices they did for the brakes, if they ever even replaced the crap that was there, would fall apart within three months.) So, it took a few years for me to bother to go back. Stopped by today prepared to buy a flatbed trailer, but it turns out they're never open weekends and don't really care. We all have families and weekend activities. Most of us also work weekdays, leaving only weekends, or perhaps after-work hours, to take care of our personal business. I get it. Family does come first. For us too. It's their attitude (and previous service) that sucks. I wouldn't buy a trailer here at this point. I know they won't be available if anything goes wrong with it. read more

I was having trouble when pulling my horse trailer with a message of "trailer detached". I showed up for my appointment and within minutes the mechanic has my problem figured out. The plug had become corroded. Within 45 minutes I had a new plug and was on my way!! The bill was very reasonable.Both mechanic and owners were wonderful to work with. I own a homemade trailer, I purchased it years ago in desperate times and I never felt right about it. For years every time I loaded it I wondered if that would be the time it broke. We love the size of the trailer, it is perfect for our family outings and such. Finally I decided to call the place I passed regularly just off the 101, Trailer Barn. They didn't have an appointment right away but said I could drop off the trailer early. This really helped my schedule. Turns out they have an annual inspection they do to make sure the trailer will not fall apart, and it is very reasonable. Since I dropped it off early they were able to get to it sooner. Turns out my trailer was in bad shape. They gave me an upfront price for the work, totally replacing the axle, leaf springs and balancing it better. Picked it up just before Father's Day and was able to use it with the family. It is like a new trailer and I now have confidence when I use it. On the road & needed a part for our trailer hitch. Owner said he had it and come on in. Drove 30 minutes to get there, paid $400 for the part (read: royally reamed), he carried the heavy box to my truck and dropped it on the ground, then walked back in. I waited... then went inside to see when it'd be installed. L People, the man is unhinged. He started yelling at me in front of his 3 workers, all standing around drinking coffee, & told me he didn't have time to install the part. He's busy, don't you know! It took me a half hour to drag the heavy parts box closer to my truck & lift it into the rear cab. The owner guy came out again and said he had time to work on the hitch. What?!? When I asked if he finished his coffee - I was a wee bit pissed - he said he didn't appreciate being talked to that way, and left me again. LOLOL I called around and Pam at Central Coast Trailers said she'd fit me in. She rocks!! I drove straight there, she had a guy standing by, and I was out in 30 min. I will NEVER go back to trailer barn again. My company buys at least one trailer a year and they rotate in for repairs. Central Coast Trailers has all my business from now on. read more

Nope....never taking my trailer here again. They quoted me one price to repair my trailer and when I went to pick it up they charged me double. They did not even call me to warn me it was going to cost me twice as much Ok, I was contacted by the owner and was asked why I did not bring up the overcharge at the time. This was my fault as I have been recently over charged by other things that I had paid for and was feeling extremely taken advantage of by people.. I figured it was my fault for not getting it in writing. The owner made it right so please disregard my original review. The work was done very well and the trailer looks great. read more

These folks have always treated me great. Helpful, Knowledgeable and prompt. I've done business here a few times over the last couple years. Today I dealt with Katie, Susan and Aaron. Dropped off my truck and trailer the afternoon before the morning appointment the next day. Some of the trailer lights weren't working , no brake lights on the trailer either. They called me back within 1 hour. It was done. I was prepared to pay, they could've told me anything. They were honest. One light bulb and a relay under the hood was loose and not connecting which caused the brake light issue. They got me on the road for 43 cents. 43 CENTS!!! I can't promise your bill will be 43 cents but it will be fair. These are good honest people. read more

I had a service appointment at 8am this morning (their business hours are 8-5:30), I was hoping to drop off the trailer at 8 so I could jam to work, so I show up at 7:55. Nobody is there until around 8:21 when a truck pulls up, a guy with a big Starbucks coffee and a McDonalds bag gets out and goes inside... I walk in and asked the guy if opening over 20 minutes late was a standard thing there (I'm going to be late for work at this point), and the guy has the audacity to start yelling and say, "excuse me sir! Do you have kids?!" Implying that it was his kids that made him late, and admitted that he does this all the time.. no apology, no effort to correct his mistake... everyone has kids buddy, is that really an excuse for having customers waiting outside of your business for 20 minutes after you're supposed to be open? Needless to say, I left and went down the street to one of the other 50 trailer places around here. read more

Does customer service and loyalty matter? I ask that question because I've been going to Trailer Barn for 20 years now. I've tolerated their tardiness in the morning. I make my appointments for 8 a.m., I have a business to run and need to get my rigs in and out as efficiently and quickly as possible. But their rudeness is beginning to wear on me. I booked some service work for my trailer (of which I purchased from them) and hook ups for another one of my trucks. Yes, I was taught that your late if you're not early. My appointment was at 8:00, I arrived at 7:51. I drove my truck and trailer into their lot; I went to the office, and was told briskly that your early, "I don't even have my computer up". "We have a full truck with trailers on them". "We don't open till 8". I waited till the computer was up. Then I asked "do you think we should go outside so we can go over what needs to be done on the trailer and the truck". "No, I know exactly what needs to be done".... (bet your thinking ... "RIGHT" about now.... Oh sure you do). At 11:09 that same morning I got a call; "we can't work on your truck because we need the spare key to your tire". I had to leave a job site, and run over there to give them a key. I asked the mechanic when he thinks my job would be done; he said; "I don't know I am getting ready to go to lunch", he also asked where I wanted to have it mounted (the plug). See, you were right; they didn't know exactly what needs to be done, and it was past 11 and they hadn't even started on my job. I got a call later in the day to come and pick up the truck and trailer; as they were ready. I was dropped off by my wife, and she waited to make sure that in fact it was ready. I checked out my truck and trailer on the side of the road, and noticed that the job wasn't complete. I walked in the office; and told the gentleman in the office that the main plug that supplies the power wasn't repaired (that was the most important repair). He simply said; "I wasn't here this morning", I guess that means, I'm not going to help you.... Then as is my practice when I can't remember someone's name (if they are a female; I say "hon". I am not being intentionally degrading, or demeaning (I am an old timer)), boy howdy, that was a mistake. "DON'T YOU DARE CALL ME HON"! The temperature in the room dropped 50 degrees. I started to explain, but don't think she was hearing anything anymore. I suggested my wife come in and explain; since I apparently wasn't going to be heard" The gentleman said; "we don't need any of that in here", I'm not really sure what that was supposed to mean. I don't believe my wife has ever offended anyone in her life. As far as I know, I don't believe they've ever met her. The gentlemen said; "No charge, we made a mistake". He asked if I wanted his mechanic to make the repairs now? I said; "No, I will have it done elsewhere". I told him that I would like to pay for the work that had been done. He said; "No charge", she turned away echoing the same in a brisk manner (a nice word isn't it). I walked out to the trailer and proceeded to hook up the chains, and the plug in and everything else. So even that part of the job wasn't done, had my wife picked it up; it could have been a mess, as she would have assumed it was ready to go. The answer is "Yes, customer service and loyalty do matter." I also believe that it is a two-way street, there is "No loyalty nor customer service at Trailer Barn." There should be. This is a small town; we all try and support each other's business'. Her name is Susan by the way, she has more bad days then good, customer service isn't her strong point, timeliness either. read more

All can say is you should read the other Yelp reviews before buying from this place. Last year they did OK repairs to my equipment trailer so I ordered a new one from them . Sales is surly at best. Despite being paid up front for a fully optioned trailer it took weeks for them to get my trailer ready. Clearly they don't want to be in the trailer business. I was needing to tow a trailer on my pick up and the wires were a rats nest. These guys cheerfully and promptly sorted everything out so I could tow the trailer with proper lights and blinkers. And the charges were very reasonable. I recommend you see these guys for towing needs. They know their stuff. read more

Disappointed. I was shopping for a car trailer. I went on line found what needed/wanted in Santa Maria. But being I work in Paso Robles I wanted to keep my money in the county. I called an talked to the sales manager he said come on over and take a look at out inventory. I went over the Manager was busy and the young lady and older lady both said you'll have to speak with the sales manager. I waited and then the sales manager had to leave and was directed back to the older lady. I told her I was in the market for a 7x16 car trailer with a 7000 gvw with 2 5/16 ball. She asked what are you towing? My car weighs 3800lbs. My Jeep weighs 4100. She stated oh the 6k trailer will be fine.she gave me a price.i asked about financing. She stated go online through our website. I received a price out the door. I called back the next day and spoke with the sale manager I stated what I was towing he agreed and said yes you'll need the 7000 gvw trailer. We don't have any. It would be 16 to 18 weeks before I can get you one. But I can get you a utility trailer with ramps with the GVW you want. I said what are we looking st in price that trailer would about $1000 more that the 6k gvw trailer. That will take 2-3 weeks to get. No thanks I ended up going elsewhere and bought what I wanted/needed for the same price as the trailer they were trying to sell and was 100% financed. Never again nor will I recommend this outfit to anyone!!! Started when I called them to replace our brakes on a triple axle pacific boat trailer. Talked to the assumed owner twice on Thursday before booking our appointment with Susan the following morning. I was reassured that they had my parts in stock and that the "out the door price" for parts and labor would be $800.92. We dropped our boat/trailer off at the specified time between 0800/0900. I received a call 2.5 hours later with them stating they sold our parts to another customer whom apparently had more clout than us, even though we booked our appointment the prior day. We were then told to wait for parts through the weekend. Second call came from them that same afternoon claiming that our actuator, lines, and 5 out of 6 bearing sets were ok and within tolerance and the drums were fine and going to be cleaned up and reinstalled with new backing assemblys arriving after the weekend. Fast forward to Monday, I call them to check up on progress and make sure that our repair was finally underway. I dealt with Susan...........words cannot begin to describe how rude and unprofessional this woman was/is! Her customer service skills are extremely poor and definitely leave something to be desired. This was at 1530. I asked that she please give me a final bill before the close of the business day. I asked about a lead time and was told every time, by Susan, "I don't know." How you can't give a finish time for a pre-fabricated, bolt up brake assembly, after 25 supposed years in the business, is beyond my comprehention. I later received a call at 1715 stating that our $800.92 quote, plus the one approved wheel bearing kit, had now jumped to $1500+ in the course of one day with no approval or phone call stating the need to replace parts that I was informed were "good" the prior Friday afternoon. If you like being lied to, overcharged, and considerably late and untimely, then by all means this is your place to go!!! I would highly recommend another establishment that abides by simple service policies written on a work order. I am a commercial fisherman and will never recommend The Trailer Barn to anyone in my industry or my family. Make sure you read all reviews both on here, Google and any other rating forum. If you do by emergency have the most unpleasant experience of doing business with them, get a written work order from the owner before they even get your equipment on the property. Just because they're trailer repair, they should still be upheld to the same standards as an automotive shop! In from out of town on work. Needed a spare tire and rim for my trailer. Called them in advance. Helpful and friendly, Stopped in a few days later. they were the only place that had a lug template to easily determine what rim size I needed. In and out in 20 minutes even with a couple people in front of me. Same friendly help when I got there. Put the spare on my trailer quickly and got me going. Thank you trailer barn. read more

I made the mistake of taking my boat trailer there for surge brake repair because they said they worked on boat trailers. Don't let them work on your boat trailer. $600 later they totally screwed mine up to the point where I had to have the brakes completely replaced by somebody that knew what they were doing. read more
