We stumbled on this place and boy are we happy about it! Friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Nothing pretentious about it. Coffee is stellar. You can even buy it ground or whole bean. I got the ruby red freshie and that is dangerously good. Fresh grapefruit and personal bottle of Prosecco. Hubby got the famous breakfast Bloody Mary. It comes with two breakfast sliders, three meatballs, salami, cheese, bacon wrapped potatoes, apple (weird), and carrot with celery because well vegetables. He just had that and was totally satisfied no meal needed. I ordered the mushroom and asparagus scramble with home fries. Tons of cheese, perfectly cooked mushrooms and tender but still crunchy asparagus. Home fries were a good mix of crispy and tender. Then when it comes to the menu it has some unique choices without being over the top. The topper is the food. We have never had anything that was a disappointment. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaah. So okay. I LOVE the chicken and waffles here - I've been here twice for breakfast and I always get them. Just order the gravy on the side. Is it the best? Well, no, you're not in the South. Is it still delicious? Hell yeah. But last night, I went for dinner, and I was so underwhelmed, I think you could hear my heart break. I had fish and chips, which are basic enough that they're at every pub and bar, and they're pretty hard to screw up. My fries were plentiful and the pieces of "fish" were huge, but that's where it stopped. They weren't at all as crispy as I was hoping (after being primed on their chicken), and they were mostly batter. I picked off the batter on most of the fish and the pile was sort of sad. The reuben looked better, and I probably should have opted for that. At least there's a decent beer menu, and I was lucky enough to get there one minute before Happy Hour ended, and our servers were kind enough to give us that pricing. That's the best thing - servers are awesome there. Just wish the food was, too. read more

Brought the wife and some friends in for Birthday dinner. What an awesome experience. We actually got to sit inside this time. The tables were spaced pretty far apart so we could enjoy the food and not have to worry about creepy crawlies getting into our food. The wait staff was extremely nice and got us our drinks and apps super quick for how busy it was. We started with the brisket fritters which are always awesomeness in your mouth. I actually wish they had a larger portion of these you could order. Maybe 5 servings of these would make a great meal in itself. For the main entree I had the "nameless pig" a d the wife had a Chicken BLTA sandwich. Both were excellent. The wife had a few cocktails as well, the Gummy Bear and a Margarita. I tasted both and they were really good. All in all, the Train Wreck is a great time that you won't regret. read more

Great little place! We have tried many times to get into this place but it's always packed. We came through town on a late Monday morning and got lucky with a cute little table at the front window. We got there about 10 mins before lunch started so we had to wait for the menu to switch over, which was fine. We had a burger and BLTA - very fresh ingredients and cooked perfectly! Food is 5 stars! Service was more of a 3.5 stars. Staff could be more friendly. Overall we had a great lunch and will be back! read more

Stopped in on a drive through Burlington for lunch. This place has incredible food and the service is great. What a find for a little hole in the wall. I agree with all the other great reviews. The fries are incredible and the house made sauces are worth taking home. We had two different salads and a pulled pork sandwich. This is not "bar food". We waited like 35 minutes to get seated as it was busy. Our service was great and the restroom was fairly clean. It's true-the elk burger is amazing (I'm not too into eating meat but it tasted like non stressed beef and I was very surprised that I finished the whole dang 1/3lb thing.) I added sautéed mushrooms and paired it with a light beer and sweet potatoes fries, and ooof, so good. I'll be back and on a game day for sure when I'm in town! read more

Train Wreck, I love you. I have friends local to the area who are always posting pictures of Freshies on Facebook, so when work brought me to Washington, I knew I had to make a stop here. The building is super tiny and located right near a trainstop, thus the name. In fact, whenever a train comes by, they offer $1 Jell-O shots. We started off with watermelon freshies. Amazing. Wonderful. Refreshing. The booze was there, but not overwhelmingly so. I could have drank more than one, but that probably would not have been in my best interest. We then enjoyed the fried green tomato caprese (with the fixings on the side). I love fried green tomatoes and I love caprese, but I love their lovechild even more. This was probably one of the best appetizers I've ever had. I'm definitely going to crave it until I can find my way up north again. For my meal, I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was phenomenal and super fresh. The fries were great as well. I liked that the ketchup had a bit of a twist to it, as did the tartar sauce. Overall, this was by far the best meal I had while in Washington. I'm planning a return trip that includes no less than three trips to Train Wreck. read more

Stopped by the train wreck for a Bloody Mary. I didn't think I was hungry untill I saw their amazing Bloody Mary with all the snacks on it. They were busy with ever table full but the drinks came out in a timely fashion. Unfortunately I don't remember our servers name but all the staff stopped by to check on us/ refill waters etc. I'll for sure be back to try the food next time I'm in town. Not a traditional one, but still good in its own way. Service has been good, maybe understaffed so give a little break on that. Not too load but a fun place to be in. Stopped here on a long motorcycle treck tonight, I was a bit embarrassed because I sat down at the bar ready to order a drink and some food, but forgot my ID. I'm very much over the age of 21 and I'm sure the sweet bartender could tell, so she was very polite in telling me she couldn't serve me. The effort to make most things in house should be lauded. The food is overall pretty good and the portions are large for the price. The quality of the food is reasonably high; however, for an effort to make so much in house from scratch, the excessive saltiness of many items seemed odd. The brisket chili had great flavor, too much salt; the house cut and fried fries, nicely done but too much salt; the burger, over salted; and so on. The service was great and they were packed mid afternoon on a Thursday which speaks to their popularity in the community. The vibe and decor is great. I have been here a few times, and I have to say today disappointed me on many levels. We were seated, got some drinks, and waited for our food, it was a simple order, like a tuna melt and a burger. We waited for over 45 minutes for our food. We saw people get seated next to us, have their order taken, and were served before our food came...... Bottom line, we left.....I left some money to cover the beers, and I know it was not enough, but we left.... A few highlights that never fail at trainwreck are specifically the Sririacha vodka bloody mary and the korean pork tacos. I wouldn't recommend getting the huge bloody mary with all of the accoutrements, it's more of a novelty than anything and the actual food on it is pre-made dry and cold. Only alteration to the pork tacos is how much cilantro they put on top, easy enough to pull off or ask for "light" but it's almost comical how much they use. The food scene in Burlington, WA is not very exciting but the Train Wreck is a locals hangout not to be missed. I've mistakenly thought it a dive bar but really a step up from that. Management purchases locally sourced products from suppliers throughout the Pacific Northwest, from baking their own breads and smoking their own meats. They also bake custom orders for cheesecakes, breads, dinner rolls, cookies and more. Be aware though that Train Wreck is a 21+ only bar, sorry no minors allowed. Appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, fish & chips, there's something for everyone on the menu. For lunch one day, I had the Chicken Club Wrap ($11.95): grilled chicken, bacon, tomato, jack cheese & greens tossed in house ranch, wrapped in a GIANT flour tortilla. The portion was HUGE. I ate half and took the rest back to our hotel in a box. Flavors were good, not great. My husband loves "exotic" meats and tried the Elk Burger: 1/3-pound natural ground elk patty topped with bacon & Irish white cheddar. He substituted a green salad for the fries. The salad would have fed a family of four! He said the burger, surprisingly just the right size, was excellent. I tried one of their ciders but was disappointed when it arrived at the table in a bottle (Angry Orchard) instead of on tap. Looking around, I saw most diners were drinking Budweiser, so..... Kinda rustic inside with log tables and benches for larger groups but clean and the wait staff are nice and friendly. The Train Wreck is probably your best bet in Burlington. read more
