She's caring and actually takes the time to listen to you instead of brushing you off. If I could, I would've continued to visit Dr. Nguyen until she retired. However, the office discontinued Medi-Cal coverage and I am no longer able to see her. My main review is for the front staff. They're either very rude or have no clue what's going on. Each time I talk to the staff, they either have curt responses and don't actually bother to try to find a resolution, or the staff is inexperienced and always tell me they'll "call me back" with an answer AND THEY NEVER DO. Overall I find the front of staff very unprofessional and no one seems to have the answer to anything, nor the will to try to help patients with administrative problems.

But I think most negative reviews are due to the office staff. The front staff and billing team will try making you pay more. The billing staff called me saying I owed them another doctor's visit; they said I visited them twice, and I didn't pay for the early Oct2024 visit. I had to do their job and tell them to check with the front staff that I ONLY had one visit in late Oct2024, and I paid cash to the front staff. They gave the excuse that there was some IT error with the billing. Make sure you keep notes when you paid because they will scam you into paying more. I feel bad if they scam the elderly patients. I even requested to speak to the doctor to talk about their screwup so it doesn't happen to me again or any patient. But the woman said that I needed to make another office appointment to even talk to the doctor! What a joke. The doctor can't even spare five minutes to call me to apologize for her staff's mistake, or say how they will fix/improve things. No callback ever since. The first time they scammed me into paying more was when I emailed them showing a rash on my arm just asking to refill a current rash cream prescription. They said this requires a specialist to look at. So in the end I paid hundreds of bucks to see a specialist, and the primary care doctor wanted me to pay them for a "doctor's visit."

There are several doctors and healthcare providers under this group which allows patients to have more access to care. There's been a handful of times where I was unable to get an appointment with my doctor and had to select a different one with an earlier availability. Personally, I don't have any major health issues, so it's not a big deal if I don't see the same doctor for every visit. However, it's frustrating when I get asked about my condition from previous visits because I'm seeing a different doctor. Not saying it's not relevant for them to ask but there's lack of knowledge built from having an existing relationship with your patient. I could easily just go to another clinic and it wouldn't make a difference. On top of that, the office staff are not friendly and it's so off-putting interacting with them. While I thought all the healthcare providers in this office are decent, I prefer to have a consistent PCP.

The heart of the front office is undoubtedly Trinh. She has been there as long as I can remember, and she is truly a blessing to the practice. If he continues practicing the way he currently does, I'm afraid he will cause harm to his patients. I'm a physician myself, and Dr. Nguyen has been caring for my parents for the past few years. I live far away from my parents so was never able to take them to their doc visits, but upon reviewing my dad's management in the past few years and speaking to Dr. Nguyen on the phone recently, I can see that he does not know what is going on with my dad. He also orders for imaging without having a reasonable indication. He gets frustrated when I ask follow up questions because I can tell he's very rushed and wants to hang up, he kept cutting me off and said he's going to hang up a few times while I was still talking, and his replies is, "it's fine, whatever, you guys don't have to do it". I also walked in on my mom one time while she was having a tele visit with him once, it took a total of about 3 mins, and all I can hear is every time my mom ask a question, he cuts her off and talks over her, and in the end he said "I'm very busy, I gotta go" and hangs up. My mom then tells me that's how he treats her and my dad at most visits. I have never in my medical career treated any of my patients like this. I was taught to respect patients and listen to their concerns, because it is a privilege to even be able to see and treat patients. I hope for other patients' sake that Dr. Nguyen's doesn't treat them the same as he treats my parents. Elderly patients can be frustrating, as they have a lot of medical issues, and they may not have a full understanding of their illnesses, but that does not mean they deserve to be treated with any less respect. I advise people that not all FM doc out there are supposed to be like this. This is NOT the standard of care. There are really good and caring docs out there, so please find yourself another pcp who actually will listen to your concerns and treat you with respect and dignity. Everyone deserves that.
