Excellent experience between the service (very reasonably priced!), the customer service (no guessing what is being said), and the atmosphere. I had some parking challenges (see tip below), but I didn't have to park far, and there is a lot with about ten spaces or so. It is important to remember they are a small shop and they have great reviews here as well as client referrals. Though they accept walk-ins, I recommend making an appointment, even if its for the same day. I called at 1 and they were able to see me at 4, but while I was there they had to turn away two clients without appointments. Also, they will be finishing up on someone upon arrival, and they'll begin prepping for the next customer while finishing up. Now, for my experience. I arrived for my pedicure appointment right on time. I walked in and was immediately greeted by Jimmy who instructed me to choose a color. I could see he was working with a client, though he was finishing up (removing any color that had gone astray). As I chose my color, Tranie was concerned as she asked me how far along I was (38 weeks pregnant), since the pedicure includes a massage. I was so impressed that she knew that the massage could activate labor! She confirmed that I knew it was possible, then she assured her husband that I was okay for the massage. She commented that she had clients one or two months from delivery that she had to refuse massages for because it can be dangerous. They didn't know me and were genuinely concerned! After I chose my color, Jimmy set his client to dry, then came over to set up my water and help me get seated. He sparked a nice, not overly personal conversation. Every time Jimmy and Tranie spoke to each other, it was in English and I was so excited to not have the awkward moments of wondering what they were saying to each other. They truly want to make everyone comfortable! He went through the usual nail polish removing, cuticle softening, cuticle and nail trimming. Then he started the massage, which focuses on the lower leg and foot. As others have noted, it feels like a good 10 minutes on each leg, though I didn't time him and neither would I--just enjoy! He rubbed a pumice stone on my rough areas (heel and sides of big toe). Then painted and set me up to dry. While drying, Tranie came by and sprayed some quick set spray. They both asked me separately if everything had gone well and if I needed anything else. I didn't because everything was superb! Parking tip: heading west on University, turn right on Troy, then turn at the second driveway (just after the lawyer's lot). If there's no parking there, then turn right again to get out of the lot and back to University. I parked on Troy, then walked in through the parking lot. Tranie's is the first door. read more

I cannot describe how wonderful this salon is. Tranie is the best and I love her work so much. She took the time to make sure I was comfortable during the entire time. I had never been in before and needed to get a fill and a pedicure, so I went through yelp. This place popped up 3 minutes away and with such amazing reviews, I couldn't refuse. I made an appointment and was very glad I did! There are only three stations. I walked in and right away tranie greeted me by my name, which has never happened before, even at the old salon I used to go to for over two years. I love this shop. I brought my 81 year old mom in for a pedicure. The first one she has ever had. She has just had a hip replacement and needed some pampering. Jimmy greeted us as soon as we entered and helped mom onto the chair. He brought us both water bottles and settled in to work on mom feet. I went here after seeing the reviews on Yelp and this place absolutely delivered. I had JIMMY do my nails and he was probably the sweetest person you'll ever meet. I told him I wanted something festive for the 4th of July. He started throwing ideas out there and I told him to do whatever he thought looked good. The best part about this place is they don't charge those ridiculous fees for designs. It's $23 no matter what you get. The place was very clean and had great customer service. I'm giving this place 2 stars because I have mixed feelings. When I went there for the first time to get a pedicure, the owner was super nice and accommodating. However the last time I went there to get my manicure I received amazing service but horrible product. I wish this salon invested in nail polishes. They are old and no selection. I got my nails done on Friday afternoon and today is Monday and my nails look as shown on pictures. I really don't mean to assault anyone but I paid $20 for something that didn't last 2 days. I found this nail salon early in the morning and gave them a call to see if I could come in at 9am. This was the best phone call ever, Tranie answered and said I can take you right away come in, I arrived at 9am and was greeted with amazing hospitality, I got a full set gel manicure and pedicure! I MUST SAY THAT BEING AS PICKY AS I AM THIS PLACE WAS AWESOME !!! So I just recently moved and my original nail salon that I had been going to was a bit far for me... So I came on to yelp and found TRANIE NAILS! I read the reviews and decided to go ahead and give them a try.... So I didn't call to make an appointment and I walked in, I got greeted by Jimmy and his big smile and said " HI HOW CAN I HELP YOU!" I said I need a new set and a pedicure, he said can you wait 10 mins I said SURE!!! So I sat down and they have the TV's on so I was entertained w/ the world wide news... lol... Then Tranie herself came out and began to ask me what would i like to get done, now this is where she sold me.... She asked me that right and I said I would like to get a new full set. That meant I had to take of the old acrylic and get the new one and I had just broke a nail at work so you can imagine my anxiety... So whe looked at my nails and looke at the broken one and she said " you don't need a new set they are still good but I can deffinately fix your broken nail" , I said well I just want you to make sure my nails look really really nice... She then answered me by saying " I am honest w/ my work, so I would tell you that I couldn't fix this. But I don't want to hurt you and I don't want you to have an expensive visit here" and she made my nails look sooo pretty and just how I wanted them.... !!!!!!!! A BIG PLUS ! Then we got on the comfy massage chair to get my pedicure, Jimmy is FABULOUSE!!!!! OMG I felt so relaxed, the leg and foot massage was fabulous and at the same time the massage from the chair..... ANY WAY I LOVE THIS NEW PLACE!!!! Their shop is a bit small, 3 nail tables and 2 spa pedicure chairs so no major loudness in there and u get to relax and have your time w/ out rush.. I feel a bit mean not giving the 5 stars everyone is shelling out for this shop, but let me explain why i only gave it 3. First of all let me talk about the positives. I came in and asked for a gel manicure and pedicure. They told me they could take me in an hour. I totally appreciated that! I hate being told 'ten minutes' and waiting for much longer. Jimmy and Tranie are possibly one of the sweetest couples ever! They were super nice and attentive. How could you not like them? After reading the yelp reviews I was so ready for the best ever mani/pedi. Then the lady that was leaving told me that this would be the best pedicure EVER! WOW I was glad I made the drive out! So I had come back at the time they gave me, sat in the spa pedi chair while they finished up with the previous clients (about 10 minutes). Again, this does not bother me. I like the massage chair. Tranie then started on my gel manicure. I've been getting manicures forever, during the last 2 years all have been gel. This is the FIRST time i've ever gotten a manicure where my nails were not soaked, cuticles not trimmed, and hands/forearm not massaged. So basically I paid $23 for an application of gel polish. Maybe they have other terminology that includes all that i'm used to, but usually when I say manicure it covers all those basics. To top it off, some nails did not get covered all the way by the polish. Now the pedicure... As most other yelpers have stated, the massage is the best! I read one review that said he spent about 30 minutes on each foot, sadly i did not get that same treatment :( Trimmed/filed my nails pretty basic, awesome massage, and then he scrubbed my feet for 5 seconds max. I think he went back and forth on my heels MAYBE 5 times. I was really caught off guard when he asked me to put my feet back in the water. He did do a good job on polish application. So my services started 10 after the hour and by 45 after the hour my toe nails were being sprayed with quick dry. Honestly. I must say, it all felt a bit rushed, and not what i'm used to. I recently moved and was super excited about this place. This couple is so nice, and other reviews have been so great, I'm really tempted to give them another try. Maybe tell them upfront all that i want. Although i've never had to do that before... We shall see. Maybe I was just there on a bad day. Will let you know if I go back. read more

High praise to this nail salon: exceptional customer service and stunning results! I have been coming to Tranie Nails for almost a year now and only wish I had discovered this wonderful salon sooner. Tranie knows how to make my nails look beautiful, and all of this is done with a smile and great attention to detail. Her husband, Jimmy is also outgoing and thoughtful (he always makes sure I get a water if I am thirsty). I have never received so many compliments on my fingernails as I do now. Both Tranie and Jimmy truly care about their customers as I witnessed firsthand when Tranie and Jimmy would not accept any payment from one of their customers who sadly is terminally ill. That customer was given a free facial, mani and pedi to help lift her spirits as she battles cancer. Yes, I was eavesdropping and heard them refuse to take her payment. I also appreciate how clean the salon is. If any tool is accidentally dropped, it gets placed in disinfectant or tossed immediately. The time goes by quickly there: they have a large screen TV, plenty of magazines, and Tranie is a fun conversationalist. Parking is never an issue: there is a parking lot in the back of the salon, not to mention plenty of free street parking. You usually do need to make an appointment in advance, but isn't that to be expected with a salon that is in high demand due to fair prices for stellar results? I read another Yelp review of this salon that criticized that appointments are usually needed; I felt that criticism is undeserved. Happy returning customers = high demand = the need for appointments . . . it is that simple. Oh yeah, I also appreciate how nobody at this salon tries to 'upsell' you for additional services ( a big 'pet peeve' of mine). Tranie Nails is a salon that I feel more than comfortable giving my 'thumbs up' to. If I could rate this place 6 instead of five stars, I would. read more

So I've been back to this place several times, as a matter of fact this is the ONLY place I go now. Trannie is just awesome at all she does, not the mention she is an amazing individual. She always listens to what her customers ask/say/request & will give you her honest, but professional opinion about whatever it is vs. just going along with it for the money. I also like the fact that they work off appt only...so that there aren't a hurd of people sitting & waiting, meaning you get the one on one attention you deserve. Amazing! I'll come back and write a full review, but having just finished up with a delightful mani/pedi, I am so satisfied. ...Back as promised. This is quite some time later, but some experiences are so pleasant, it is easy to recall them to mind. I am extremely picky about my nails. Which most folks wouldn't guess by looking at me, but for years nails have been my rare treat to myself that I love to indulge. I've even been working on picking up a few lacquerista skills myself, although it is slow going. Most nail salons do not meet my expectations. Hacking in to my skin in an unhealthy obsessions with removing all trace of cuticle, missing corners of my nails in a sloppy job that is unbecoming of a professional, tutting because my stupid weak nails broke in a weird way, all annoyances that plague my relaxation. Tranie was none of that. It was an oasis, and I am so sad that I have moved away and have to start all over on finding a salon I can trust. The massage chairs were delightful, the pedicure clean up just what my feet needed, the nail polish came out perfect. I had splurged as a gift for a friend, and she had a lovely time too. Whoa. That pedicure was amazing. Seriously amazing. And thorough. And downright affordable. I was a big jerk and stared at my phone the whole time, texting people about the fires in north county and reading, but next time I will be more sociable because holy cats, everyone who works there is SO NICE. My feet hadn't seen any love in almost a year. I was pretty embarrassed to show them in public. I steeled myself for a barrage of chiding tut-tuts, and no one said a thing about it. Instead, I got an amazing leg and foot massage, a really cute color (I didn't even have to use my own-they had so many cute colors and good brands of polish), and almost an hour of complete relaxation. It's a family ran business and they absolutely make sure you are taken care of to the best of their abilities. So I made the mistake of going to Professionails to get my gel manicure done, hoping I could get something fall style, with glitter and maybe a leaf on one. Well it turned out awful. My tips were too big, they were a yellowish orange with brown glitter. Not cute. So of course I went to Tranie only 3 days later, who I SHOULD'VE come to first. I told her what I wanted and she went above and beyond. Not only are the nails beautiful, she gave me a big discount on the replaced design.
