As a NASA & Jet Propulsion Laboratory Engineer i have worked on a wide array of instruments, components, and even entire spacecraft like the Mars Rover, but I am embarrassed to admit I have no idea how to fix my Prius when it has a problem. The great thing is.... Valentine does!!! That's why I only trust Valentine and his crew to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair my vintage 2007 Toyota Prius. It has 200K miles on it and I am hoping to put another 200K on it with Valentine's help. This time it was a bad fuel pump that was damaged after I ran out of gas and tried to start the car several times. Now, let me ask an engineering & design question. Would you integrate the fuel pump inside of the fuel tank so that when (not if) the fuel pump fails, you have to replace the entire gas tank assembly?? After all... this is not rocket science!!! Who designed this??? Valentine was very accommodating and explained the problem and the solution to me before any work started. After inspecting it, he identified damage (caused by rats) to the transmission wiring harness, which had unfortunately caused internal damage. I paid $333 for two hours of labor for a diagnosis and a relearn procedure that I was told would resolve the issue. At no point was I contacted to authorize any additional work beyond the diagnosis. I was later informed that the vehicle was fixed and paid the invoice, hoping the issue had been resolved. Unfortunately, the problem remained. When I returned, I received conflicting explanations. First, I was told there were no detectable issues. Later, I was told the transmission needed to be replaced. I was also repeatedly told that the repair I suspected would not fix the problem. Even so, I asked them to provide a quote for that repair since a transmission replacement was not financially practical. I was told they would call me with a quote and credit one hour of labor, but I never received a call. After nearly a month of poor communication and an unrepaired vehicle, I decided to purchase the part and perform the repair myself. More than 100 miles later, the vehicle is operating normally. The repair that I was repeatedly told would not solve the issue ended up resolving it completely. I am extremely disappointed with my experience and am out $332 with no resolution provided by the shop.

I took it to another mechanic and they quoted me $400 for an A/C diagnostic and another $2,400 to fix the evaporator. I was so obviously being taken advantage of, and being a single young woman who knows nothing about cars I was almost willing to pay. But LUCKILY I was able to do more digging on yelp, got an online quote, and was able to bring my car in the same day! Junior explained to me that I was obviously being taken advantage of by the Honda dealership and the previous mechanic. He let me know the problem wasn't as severe or expensive to fix as I was previously told. He was able to give me the best price to fix the problem and since I saved a lot of money, I was able to afford adding additional services that I desperately needed to get fixed like my axles, gasket, and spark plugs. The job wasn't done properly at all. The leak continued after a small amount of driving. I hired another mechanic and the two of us decided to investigate and fix the leak. We took the cover off only to discover that there was no Gasket!! This is why it was leaking. I payed all of the money for the hourly rate only to have the problem not fixed. They had my vehicle for over a month, when I picked it up I opened the door only to discover there were parts left on the drivers seat. The parts were missing some bolts and nuts. I had to return to the shop and have one of the employees help me find the missing pieces. I put things back together myself, but what a blunder on their end. They installed a new Fuel Sending Unit as well, but that started to Leak and I had to properly replace and Install another Gasket. One last thing, someone at the shop was taking my vehicle out and about. I know this because when I left it there the first time my vehicle had a full tank. When I picked it up a quarter of a tank was missing. I thought maybe I was imagining it. So I filled it up a second time when I brought it back to them. Sure enough when I picked it up, it was down about a quarter of a tank. My tank holds a lot of fuel so it wasn't just them test driving it. This happed Twice. Businesses like this one have way too many vehicles in their shop. This is why these things happen, they are not able to do jobs properly because they are under pressure and doing too much. Start saying No we are too busy and don't be greedy! Pass on this shop and find yourself a Better automotive shop. I think the family is full of nice people, but the work is Unprofessional.

I expected to pay over $500 dollars but to my surprise it was a lot less. Everything except for the leak was fixed the same day, picked up my car and noticed that my car was still having the issues i had originally came in for so I called the mechanic and he advised me that all he needed to do was fix the leak.. took it in the next day expecting i had to pay extra, turns out my transmission fluid was so low - they replaced a small part and voila!!! my car was back to normal. Honestly I thought I was going to get scammed, but they were VERY honest and AFFORDABLE. I will definitely be coming back here.

However I took car February 18 and today is July 28 and I still don't have my car back. This mechanic replaced my transmission when there was no need to replace it. And so of course my uncle paid him immediately $1800 that he charged, thinking we'd get the vehicle back within a few days after getting transmission replaced. That is when the nightmare began... he then said he needed to reprogram the brain with the transmission. He would say the guy who programs it will be here soon and so that is how he had me for weeks. Soon it became months. Finally in June he decided to send it to Villa Ford. He told me he also had to replace my brand new battery which was purchased 3 months prior to me taking it to him, saying the battery had died. At this point i began telling him i needed a vehicle and so he lent me one of his cars. Ford informed me that the motor and the transmission were fine and that the car did not need to have transmission replaced to begin with with what the issue had been. and so after having it there for a month they suggested rewiring the vehicle but that would cost me around 6500 dollars. This was at the end of June and said they needed the mechanic shop to pick it up. But that they had trouble contacting mechanic shop. I finally spoke to mechanic telling him Ford could not diagnose the car and that they had been trying to reach him. He assured me he would go and pick up the car and get an electrician. A few weeks go by and I've finally had it. I told the mechanic that he replaced the transmission when it wasn't the transmission and that he needed to return the money to my uncle and that he needed to put my brand new battery back in the vehicle which he assured me would do. He agreed and said he needed his car back then. So yesterday he messages me asking me for my address to where he is going to tow my vehicle to. So i head down to his shop to return his vehicle and pick up the money. He only gives back half and asks to come back this Saturday to pick up the rest. At this time is when he informs me that Ford still has the vehicle and that they screwed up with the towing so i will not be getting it back today. He also points down to the floor where a battery is sitting and says, " that is your battery " I look at battery and took a picture of it because it's been 8 months since I purchased it from Auto zone. So I leave and I contact Auto Zone and confirm battery and they tell me that they do not carry that battery and that that battery has a 90 day guarantee. But the battery that i purchased came with a 3 year warranty. So i contact mechanic and i tell him, and so he agrees he'll look for my battery. I contact Ford to see what the delay was to getting my vehicle towed from them, and they tell me they have still not been able to get a hold of mechanic?!!! WTH!!! This guy is the shadiest mechanic i have ever worked with. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS SHOP!!
