Ok, so I was super excited to try Trap Fusion. The photos made me really ready to try. I decided to stop in with a friend for lunch. When I first walked in, I thought it was really cute to walk the red carpet. That was such a cute added touch. Followed by the Afrocentric photos throughout the place as well. I found that each painting was created by local artist. I love when I see this, it shows partnership within the small business community. In addition, the also have other items for purchase as well. Now, on to the food! We ordered fried pickles for the table. That was the item I enjoyed the most (although they were on the salty side). For my entree, I went with the blackened fish & grits with a side of cabbage. I was truly disappointed. The cabbage was extremely hard and whatever seasoning was used did not compliment it. I couldn't eat past one fork of it. The fish & grits were the same way. I could only eat the fish. There was a brown gravy sauce on it which I found to be an odd combination. Then they had a pile of grits at the bottom of the dish with shredded cheese that wasn't even melted into the grits. Overall, I was dissatisfied with it. Oh I did taste a few of the fried okra and they were good, but nothing I would rush back to Trap Fusion for. I don't know. Maybe it was not a good day for them. If I could give it zero stars, I would. I was so excited to try some jerk chicken. The jerk chicken was so dry. It had no sauce with it. The rice was hard as a rock no peas. I don't even know if the rice was cooked all the way cause it was so crunchy. I paid $20 for some salmon nuggets when I got like four nuggets and like 2 hard chunks in the box when I got it, I was so mad tried to call, but of course they were closed. Took over an hour to make. I ordered it off of DoorDash. I ordered the corn. It literally had nothing on it but the corn there was no spices no cheese no nothing really should've read the reviews before I ordered here. Do not order salmon nuggets because you'll be very disappointed that you paid $20 for what I paid 20 bucks for. I cant even believe the would give these to someone. I finally got the chance to visit Trap Fusion. There wasn't a line and I was able to easily place an order. The staff at the counter was very nice (She was from the Whitehaven location.) I figured they must have been low on inventory because she had to ask the cooks if there was availability on every single item from the menu that customers asked about. We decided to dine at the restaurant and only had to wait about 15 minutes for the order. I decided to try the salmon sandwich and my husband tried the stuffed turkey burger. We also tried the street corn. The salmon was a nice a portion. Unfortunately, most of the fries that came with it were tiny. I decided to keep them because I figured it would save me a few grams of carbohydrates. :) The flavor of the salmon was pretty good and I enjoyed the sandwich. My husband did not enjoy the stuffed turkey burger. He stated that it was pretty much comparable to eating a bland piece of meat with a slice of cheese on top. He was unable to finish. My husband and I came here to try the beef patties! Unfortunately, they were sold out so we were super sad. We decided to still order dinner and I'm glad that we did! I ordered the fish and grits and it was really good! The presentation wasn't too good, but I don't even care. As long as it tastes good! My husband ordered the jerk chicken pasta and he definitely at it all. It is pretty soupy though when you get to the bottom of it. As an appetizer we tried the lobster bites. They were really good!! The crust has a really good taste so I was pretty excited. It was a pretty small serving for the price in my opinion. I left Kroger and walked around the corner to the liquor store. Traffic was a mess and I needed to get some steps in for the day! Lucky me! As I passed the door of Trap Fusion, I was wondering what this spot was! Had never noticed it! Thankful for the decision to walk... I stepped in to a very nice greeting by the staff. Checking out the menu I was very impressed with the options. One of my favs, Lamb Chops! Score! Of course I had to try them. Really tasty. Spice was kind of sweet for my taste, but the spicy balance made it work nicely. Missed out on the special for the day which was collard greens with Hennesy. Hhhhmmm... that's an interesting concept. Wings and Lobster nuggets were good also. Happy that I have a new option for lamb chops take out. I'll be back! read more

I was not aware that this location was here, which is just a couple of miles from my house. I was only familiar with their original location, which is much further away. Anyway, I was excited to see this location here, when I was killing time waiting on an order from nearby Kroger. When I arrived, the cashier was taking an order over the phone, but once she finished, she promptly greeted me. I had been observing the menu, which had many tasty items. I decided on the jerk chicken pasta. The cashier took my number and said she would call me when it was ready. Well, I continued on my walk around the building and by the time I made my second lap around, I didn't think it would be ready, but the cashier got my attention and announced that she was just about to call me. She opened up the clamshell to present my order. I still had to wait longer on my Kroger order and by the time I got home, my food was still warm. I found the pasta to me cooked perfectly and the sauce and cheese were great. The chicken tasted a little burnt though. I'm familiar with jerk cooking. This just wasn't my favorite. I got a chance to visit the Whitehaven location, looked up the restaurant online and advised the young man at the counter that, this is my first visit to this restaurant. I ordered the jerk chicken with beans and rice. My wife ordered the shrimp and broccoli. we ordered to go so we had to wait about 30 min. We checked our food before leaving, the rice was mushy with no flavor, and it contained only one bean. We told the man at the counter no spice sauce or food, he said no problem. Every thing on my plate was spicey hot. My wifes plate contained 10 shrimp $13.99 and a sampler size side of brocli $3.99. I recently decided to purchase local restaurant $50 gift cards to give away as prizes, & this establishment was recommended. The other 2 local restaurants had a simple process to obtain gift cards, however things became a bit muddled when "trying" to buy a gift card from Trap Fusion at BOTH locations. I called the Cordova location first to inquire about the gift card process. A gentleman I presumed was the owner told me they have E-Gift cards and that I would need to contact, "..My Whitehaven location to purchase." He stated "my" location which is why I concluded he was the owner. I then contacted the Whitehaven location & was told I would have to be put on hold because several other customers were in front of me. Being put on hold did not equate to being muted, so I could hear the restaurant background. I could tell they seemed short staffed. The gentleman began telling customers that he was indeed short staffed and that "...these young people don't wanna work. They got stimulus money." Prior to my current work, I ran a career development center for young people in Memphis for 10 years--I assure you young people will work if the work culture is positive and there are organized systems in place. If your staff aren't showing up to work, I'd recommend taking a look at the work environment, your language, hiring practices, systems, & leadership style. Professional development never hurt anyone. When businesses have issues it starts at the top. I rock with Gen Z and don't blame them for not wishing to work in what seemed to be chaos. Running your mouth about staff to customers is probably not the best way to improve team morale nor does it paint the epitome of professionalism. But, I digress...I continued to hold and couldn't tell when he was talking to me or another customer. I would have to say: are you talking to me? He would say, "no." I guess he had multiple phones out all unmuted? I continued to listen & heard him repeatedly tell customers he was out of various items on the menu--a sure sign of incompetency regarding inventory systems & practices. To be clear, the pandemic has made things a bit more challenging regarding logistics, but most restaurants reduced their menus to accommodate any shortages. I am well aware that many restaurants run out of items on weekends, because typically shipments come in on Mondays. This was a Tuesday. Just another observation. After what seemed to be longer than a Comcast hold, the gentleman finally came back to process my gift card. It seemed to be going well, but he again put me on hold. He came back on & asked for the same information again that I had just given him. He then asked me to hold. Finally after another "hold" (aka I can hear you are helping other customers who just walked in while I am again holding on an unmuted line) he finally comes back on the line & states he is unable to process the gift card because his tablet froze and he doesn't have enough time today & is too busy to reset the tablet. I have been in other businesses who use iPads for orders where the iPads have frozen. They reset them in less than 2 minutes. He didn't have the time to do that? I hung up with this location & called the Cordova location back. I asked for the owner & explained the situation. He then began making excuses saying they were busy but he would "try" to process my gift card at his location. Wait--so you could've done it up front but sent me on a wild goose chase? I shared that because of the lack of professionalism his business would surely lose revenue. He agreed & stated he's sure they throw lots of money out the door daily. Aka he didn't give AF. I told him that I heard no apologies/conflict resolution for the unprofessionalism and only poor excuses. He told me the other gentleman at the Whitehaven location was also co-owner & that they would not apologize nor make amends for the poor customer service. Aka he didn't give AF. I won't be back. Accountability and good customer service should be a PRIORITY in any industry--regardless of business size & popularity. read more

This restaurant has a really poor customer service policy. We purchased the fish and grits and the food was extremely salty to the point it was not edible. My elderly Mother made effort to return the food to the restaurant completely in tact and asked for another food option to replace the food we could not consume. Management refused to replace the food and stated absolutely no refund in which she was not even asking for. Awesome Concept! Looked this place up on Yelp today and decided to give it a try :) So first my cinnamon rolls were left out of my bag. Had I not gone next door to buy wine, I would have drove off...ANNOYING! I go back, it's All good! I ordered the Salmon with rice & peas; Lobster bites, cabbage, Sweet Potato & Cinnamon Rolls. As I got home and removed my food from the packaging I could immediately see that the "rice&peas" is ALL rice! It has a distinct flavor that gives it a vibe, but it's BLAND with not 1 pea to be found! The Salmon has had the skin removed and it's a half inch away from being jerky!! Just tough and BLAND! the only flavor was half a teaspoon of sauce on top. The Sweet Potato... BLAND! Did not come with butter, cinnamon or nobody's sugar! My fingers touched the black char, which tastes awful! The Lobster Bites are actually very tasty! Jus SALTY! Yummy hypertension! WITH NO SAUCE, AS ADVERTISED! The Cabbage is DELICIOUS Lastly & the best part of my meal and it didn't come from the kitchen... The mini Cinnamon Rolls! Place them in foil and reheat in a warm oven.
