    Seafood Molcajate
    Darcey H.

This place is pretty big once you consider the covered open air seating that takes up the entire corner of the block. We had 6 of us and were able to get a table right away. We ordered everything from carne asada to enchiladas to a seafood molcajate. The food was all good (not mind blowing) and well prepared. The seafood molcajate was loaded! Fish, shrimp, octopus, crab, clams, mussels! Perfectly cooked. I'm pretty sure that the corn tortillas are house-made. So I recommend those.

Canned red salsa perhaps? With flavorless green salsa no thanks.

Ehh I'm going to be really blunt and honest here.... you can always tell the foods going to be bad if the salsas bad. For starters, The Salsa: tastes like canned salsa mixed with tomatoes, green salsa was lacking serious flavor almost just taste just like jalapeños mixed with water and salt? Food: the most unauthentic food I've had in a while... I'll give it 2 stars for the portion size, but other than that this is the equivalent to the fast food restaurant chipotle as far as authenticity goes. If you come here and had REAL Mexican food you'll know what I'm talking about. So disappointing. *Sigh*

    Chili Verde

Chili Verde today at Trapala. Amazing as always. One of our favorite Mexican restaurants. This is our nearly always stop when traveling up or down I-5. My husband had Pollo en Mole. Mole is one of his favorites and he declared it fabulous! The red salsa is mild, but scrumptious. I could (and did) eat it with a spoon. Almost like gazpacho. The green salsa, on the other hand, was hot!

    Veggie burrito

Note to self: Went around 3 on a weekday, so the place was almost empty. Got the veggie burrito off the dinner menu (10.50), and it was gigantic! Two meals for me. It had a nice flavor too. Kids meal of chx / fries was decent enough.

It's fine but it's not authentic Mexican food and with all the amazing choices we have in Woodburn it is not one I would make.

Ice water at the utensil stand. Service was so friendly. There were meats we were unfamiliar with, so the counter staff offered us a small sample. Barbacoa is now my jam! We ordered 4 meals: Chile relleno, tamale special, torta, & enchilada special. The specials are well-priced at under $12. We stopped in about 45 minutes before closing and staff did not rush us out. Nothing fancy ambiance-wise and this place looks similar to other Mex places on Front St. So make sure you're in Luis'!

No business embodies the vibrant Mexican community of Woodburn more so than Luis's Taqueria…read more Located along the strip of businesses on Front Street, this family owned business have been a perennial destination for Michoacan-style Mexican fare for over 3 decades. The first thing folks will notice is the colorful decor of paper piñatas across the ceiling and the spacious digs with lots of 4 top tables for some limited group action. Orders are placed at the counter and the menu is vast enough where there is something to offer for everyone. Some immediate recommendations would be their tamales platter, along with their enchiladas rojas, and their Americanized tacos dorados. Their burritos are especially large and a complete gut bomb for anyone looking for a major filler. Their ceviche tostadas are beautiful, along with their layered tortas, and hearty chimichangas. While I don't love their corn tortillas or the tacos, I would be down to give them another shot. Cabeza and carne asada especially. The prices have crept up over the years, to where many items have hit the sub $10+ range and even tacos are at $3.50 a pop. There is a price to pay for fame, but the only time it should be dinged is if the price no longer matches the quality. Ultimately, this will always be one of the city's most popular lunch destinations and local haunts. It's so well known that Obama has been here (#1) and continues to bring in new faces every week. This is a must visit for any Mexican food lover and especially for first timers in Woodburn. ____________ (#1) https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/luiss-taqueria-woodburn?select=iYjRIeJrLS47keUaG0_vVQ

You can immediately tell that this is a local favorite. Everyone who came in spoke Spanish. We tried a few tacos, a soup, and the mole enchiladas. We loved how they use freshly made tortillas! Super fresh and fluffy. For the tacos, I liked the Asada the best between that and the Chicken Mole. Wished they have Al Pastor for us to try. The Mole Enchiladas were filled with shredded chickens. The mole itself was tasty. The Lengua Soup that we got was a hit. Full of tender lengua pieces. The broth itself is very savory and meaty, great for the cold weather.

I am VERY PICKY about menudo and caldos being their specialty I came in with high expectations. They serve it with hand made tortillas which is how it should be. I think it was GOOD but I have had better. AGAIN I am picky. But the tongue tacos were flavorful and they were very generous with the portions. My husband tried the caldo de lengua which def sounds iffy but let me tell you he LOVED it. We had never tried that before but he is happy he did. DONT hesitate and try it! I also loved the decor and the vibe, the place was PACKED but we didn't have to wait long for our food. The service was also very good, the cashier even offered samples which I thought was very kind. I will def be back!
