    *Mariner Roll-$13 & sushi town-$13

It's been a while since we've been here so decided to try again for lunch. Majority of their sushi choices were spicy so I was disappointed but I managed to find couple that wasn't. Overall, it was ok but for the price we paid (+$60) for what we got, it wasn't worth it. Our waitress was super nice & accommodating!

We were REALLY craving sushi and we decided to go here for the first time... honestly pretty good! I heard not so good reviews of this place, but needed to try it for myself. The rolls tasted fresh (compared to other places) and this is the types of rolls I expect. Next time I come here I do want to do the AYCE, we didn't do that this time because I wanted the Mt. Rainer roll and it wasn't on the AYCE menu. Below I'll rate the rolls and shrooman we got. Shrooman: 5/5 bomb af. Something about having spicy tuna in a portobello mushroom. It was so good, it'll be my go to appetizer. It was creamy, juicy and the sauce on top made it perfection. Mt Rainer roll: 5/5 so good! I loved it so much. It was my favorite roll of the night. From the scallops on the top to the good amount of protein to rice ratio. Bonney lake roll: 4/5 this one was okay. I didn't care for the sriracha drizzle on top. I do love the amount of spicy crab, although I think this toll was a little too thick. Samantha roll: 3/5 This one was my least favorite and sadly the most expensive roll they have. I love lobster usually but it just tasted so artificial to me, like at the point they should've used the imitation crab. Not much filling but a whole bunch of burnt 'lobster' meat. The lobster could be a little creamier as well, it just seems so crumbly and dry. Sad because it was like $23 for it, when the cheaper ones were far better. Service: it was good. The host who helped us was kind and the server was really nice. The wait was like 5-10 minutes. Clean and casual dinner place.

Trappers in Federal Way is a solid all-you-can-eat sushi spot, and it's part of a big local chain in Washington. The place is clean, bright, and has a sushi bar where you can watch the chefs work, which is pretty cool. The menu's pretty big, though a lot of the rolls are similar, but lunch still has a good variety if you're okay with a bit of repetition. As you know AYCE sushi isn't going to blow your mind lol you'll have a decent meal here though. The chef was friendly, and service was fast--our food came out quick. If you like creamy rolls, you'll love it here--they have a ton with cream cheese. One thing I liked was the crystal shrimp, which is like a lighter, crunchier shrimp tempura. The fish was fresh, no weird smells or colors. Compared to Sumo AYCE, Trappers feels less crowded, faster, and the fish quality is a bit better. Definitely a good spot if you're craving sushi in a pitch and in bulk

Each Trapper's location menu and interior decor is pretty much the same, however, the service here at the Federal Way location was great. Our waitress was fast and friendly. We ordered the shishito peppers for an appetizer, and loved them so much we ordered a second round of them with our sushi rolls. We usually go for the all you can eat sushi, but this time went for a few rolls. Always great quality and tastes delicious.

Really clean, nice ambiance, and ayce. We did the ayce and they have a kids menu for it as well. I ordered the specialty rolls and chef Will went out of his way. He was super fast, made everything delicious. Felt like I was doing omakase with him due to his decisions and feedback. Love that they have delicious appetizers included in the buffet. I really enjoyed the squid salad and mushroom tempura.

    Soft Shell Crab, yum!

We almost didn't stop. Our experience at a different location had left a bad taste in our mouth, literally. Right off the bat our server was amazing! Fun, informative and patient with this old picky sushi eater. The sashimi was fresh, cut well and melt in your mouth delicious. The soft shell crab blew us away; good size pieces, perfectly cooked and tasted fresh. Our old favorite, the salmon skin handroll was great. It still had some salmon on the skin, great sauce ratio and fresh cucumber. Yum! I do have a question, when did handrolls change from a cone to small roll? Our booth was comfy in the bar. Very bright with TV's to watch our sports. We will be back, thank you Federal Way for restoring my love of Trapper's.

Uh , I think these were the 3 rolls he ordered but not sure. *Stp Roll *Thrill Roll *Skywalker Roll

My bf suggested we come here for dinner and I didn't mind cus I didn't wanna pick a place. I let him order all the rolls and food too. My brain was completely check out haha. I did order calamari which I enjoyed. He ordered like 4 rolls and I'm sure he could have easily put those away on his own but he force me to have some. They were pretty good, I wish I remembered the names because there was one I reached for more than the other 3 . I think the last time I had trappers was 3 years ago and the other location I ordered from was very below par so my expectation wasn't high. Service was great, our server was very attentive and nice. She did end up closing us out before her shift but we didn't mind as we had plans somewhere else we needed to get too.

We also tried the curry and takoyaki on the side. The curry was flavorful and comforting, while the takoyaki impressed me with a good amount of octopus inside (not just all dough like some places). Overall, everything was delicious, filling, and such a great deal. Highly recommend checking this place out! The ambiance is like a cafeteria cause you are in a grocery store, but nice quick easy place to have lunch.

For the sushi, the tropical roll had a nice addition of mango, but the sweet chili sauce was a little too sweet for my preference, especially for a sushi roll. The Pacific Garden roll had fresh-tasting yellowtail, salmon, and tuna, and I enjoyed the crunch from the asparagus. However, one of my pet peeves is when menus list crab or crab salad in a roll, but it ends up being imitation crab/krab. I really wish restaurants were more straightforward about what they're using, especially because I enjoy real crab, but am not a big fan of imitation crab in sushi rolls. This restaurant used the words crab salad and I thought it meant that they still used real crab in it. The rainbow roll and edamame were just alright. The gyoza was also disappointing because it wasn't crispy and didn't have much flavor. Presentation was another thing that fell a little short for me. I wasn't impressed with the plating, especially with the random pieces of greens on the plate. Overall, the sushi and sashimi had some fresh components(the highlight), but there were a few things that missed the mark for me. Service was just okay and nothing particularly stood out.

The interior is HUGE and can easily fit a couple of hundred people if not more. They have a bar in the front and a small resting area, which needs to be bigger to accommodate the people standing around waiting for a table. Despite the size of the restaurant, they only use a quarter of their restaurant at a time, likely because they lack workers. On a weekday evening at around 7pm, we waited over 40 minutes for a table even though there was plenty of seating to be had. Tokyo serves a variety of different meat and combo options including filet mignon, chicken, scallops, ribeye, shrimp, calamari, etc.. Each combo comes with miso soup, side salad (iceberg lettuce with tomato and shredded carrot with ranch) , and a bowl of white rice with the option to upgrade your rice to fried rice for $6 more. They also have complimentary piña colada sherbet for dessert. For my meal, I chose the CALAMARI + SCALLOP combo. For those who have never had teppanyaki before, it's as much about the show as it is about the meal. It's an interesting setup as you and your party sit with other parties around a large grill- it's social dining. After you get your soup and salad, the teppanyaki chef brings his cart over to the table and lights up the grill with alcohol and oil for a fiery opening. He then starts grilling food and puts the food directly on your plate depending on what people ordered. For the first course, the teppanyaki chef grills mushrooms and onions for all. He then flips eggs and makes fried rice. Afterwards, he starts grilling the meat and then grills another round of veggies (bean sprouts and cabbage) for everyone. There are two dipping sauces: A1 Sauce and A2 Sauce. A1 (soy-based) is used for beef and chicken and A2 (mayonnaise-based) is used for seafood. I personally preferred A1 much more than A2 as it was sweeter and less watery. Then again, both sauces fell flat in my opinion. It would have been better if they had provided teriyaki sauce instead. Unlike the usual CALAMARI rings that you get at most restaurants, they grilled a steak of it and cut it up into small pieces. It was moist but kind of rubbery with little taste. The SCALLOPS were better than the calamari, but I can honestly say they weren't super sweet or flavorful either. I tried a bite of my companion's FILET MIGNON and I regret not getting that instead. It was moist, juicy, and tender. Now I know to order steak when I go to another steak house. Portions are generous and I was stuffed by the end of the meal. With that said, prices are between $20-$30 per person and other than the piña colada sherbet, I can't say that I was impressed by the quality of the food; the food was just bland. Our chef, Sonny, was extremely nice, personable, and attentive, putting on a fantastic show for our party. However, as aforementioned, the general service was on the slower side and I definitely wouldn't wait 40 minutes again for a meal. The atmosphere is dark and the music is loud and so you can't really have a conversation with the people around you. The interior is also worn and dated and in much need of a refresh. Overall: 3/5 for food, 2.5/5 for service, 2.5/5 for atmosphere
