Husband ordered his usual and we ordered a kid's Chicken Teriyaki based on the beautiful photo on the on-line menu that showed a half chicken breast nicely sliced. Drove off before opening our lunch planning on stopping somewhere on the east side of the pass. When we did stop for lunch we found the Chicken Teriyaki was, well, lacking in chicken, looking nothing like the menu photo. Instead of the nice amount you see in the photo. Instead it was a little pile of broken up chicken like you'd find at day 3 of leftovers. And they only have chopsticks, no plastic silverware for the kids. Lessons learned: If someone in your party can't do chopsticks plan on bringing silverware from home. And order the $9 California Roll instead of the Teriyaki chicken. read more

AHH! I. LOVE. TRAPPERS!! This sushi place is such a great spot and I took one of my friends here for the first time and since then he's gone twice in the same week! We did the all you can eat lunch and to get the best of it of course I had to order three rolls (only two pictured) the rolls were well put together and the flavor...oh the flavor will put your tastebuds in endless bliss! The sushi chefs here are all also just amazing and have some really great conversation too. I used to come to this one when Hunter, one of the sushi chefs was working there (he still might be) and he was the kindest employee and made me and my friends feel so welcome and at home. Had the AYCESR a couple weeks ago - that's All You Can Eat Sushi RICE. First AYCE Sushi is rare and with inflation I wasn't expecting to be that impressed, but said what the heck. The price has gone up to $34.95 (at least) if I recall. I made the mistake of ordering 3 orders of two kinds of nigiri. I should have gotten more of a variety to scope out what was actually decent. I was expecting the cuts of fish to be small and the amount of rice to be large. I was also expecting the rice to be over seasoned (sort of like how everything at a Buffet AYCE restaurant is so salty - to help make you feel full.) I underestimated. The cuts of fish were laughable, probably about half the amount you get at a conveyor belt place and the quality was very mediocre. Rice had too much sugar as expected. I had a stomach ache I had to eat so much rice just to get a small amount of actual protein. On the plus side, the place has an okay atmosphere (not traditional Japanese) and the staff was friendly and gave good service including what look like to be two late 20-something White Boys making the sushi. If you don't like "real" sushi, as in, actual RAW fish, you may like this place as they have a wide selection of rolls that are just different combinations of the same 6 or 7 ingredients many with no raw fish, some with mayo-based sauce, some teriyaki based sauce, some with both. I call this Scaredy Cat "Cheescake Factory" Sushi. Anyone who claims this place has some of the best sushi around has been living in the woods around North Bend and not eaten sushi in the city. If you go in with moderate expectations and are going to eat mostly the cooked food, I think you'll be okay though. read more

This place has always been a go-to for sushi. The last time I was here was before the pandemic hit. If you want high-quality all-you-can-eat sushi, this was the place to go. (Currently unavailable until phase 4) There are a few trappers scattered over Puget Sound. This one has the best ambiance for some reason. Being the smallest of the bunch, it just has a homie feeling to it. Thats why I drive out here all the way from Bellevue. This time around, I took my parents out for lunch, and the sushi overall was of excellent quality. I have a few suggestions to help improve the overall experience. I found the menu can be hard to read. My mother accidentally ordered the wrong item. While it was her fault, I could see how easy it could be to choose things incorrectly because of the menu design. The other thing is they brought out my order with a slight mistake. I am sure it's an honest mistake that doesn't happen often. Other than that, our service was excellent, and the sushi to die for. We came here for the Thursday all day lunch special for $18.95 (only at the bar). There was no wait when we came in at 7:30. The lunch menu was pretty standard, a few special rolls here and there. The standout was the Mt. Rainier roll. It seemed like everyone around us was getting it. However, all of their rolls had way too much rice on it. I guess that's what you get for AYCE. the chef making the sushi was super on top of it, cranking orders out. The other servers were way too bubbly and really just made me uncomfortable. I'd say I wouldn't crave coming back here, but it was a good place to go after some shopping at the outlets. read more

We came here for the all-you-can-eat lunch on a Saturday before hiking nearby. The place seemed to be pretty busy, though we were able to find spots at the bar where the all-you-can-eat special is offered. Although we came for lunch our server explained that we could order off of the all-you-can-eat dinner if we wanted to instead of lunch. We ended up just sticking with the lunch menu, which was only 18 bucks. The dinner option is 23 bucks, and includes some appetizers and nigiri rolls and other specialty rolls that is not featured on the lunch menu. The lunch menu has a good amount of specialty rolls that you can choose from. Our sushi chef was great and even as the place got more busy, he did a good job of asking us for our sushi roll orders and would check in with us, seeing that our plate would be nearly empty, for what sushi rolls to make next. Though the sushi wasn't bad it's not the best quality nor is it something I'd go out of my way for. The cuts of the raw fish were uneven and the rolls would fall apart as soon as you picked it up with your chopsticks. It was obvious they weren't tightly folded over, concealing all of the goods intact. Unless I'm already in the area I wouldn't drive to North Bend to eat here again. The space is on the smaller side and the day we came there were three servers. We had to keep waving down a server to get our empty plates taken away and order drinks. They never refilled our water and we had to steal napkins from the next seat over since the servers would never come by to the bar area. They seemed to be more attentive at the dining area. And there was one instance where the customer next to us at the bar had asked for an extra side plate for his son to the sushi chef and the sushi chef was trying to get the attention of a server to do it since he had gloves on and was making sushi. He ended up just taking off his gloves, washed his hands and getting the plate himself. Luckily, he was great because the service here is not good. read more

Honestly I'm kind of surprised this place has 4 stars.. we just paid $56 for takeout and got two of the smallest portions of chicken for chicken teriyaki. There was also no teriyaki sauce on the chicken at all?? So like no teriyaki sauce in the chicken teriyaki?? Completely dry? W a side of soy sauce.. The tempura was so soggy it was dripping. And the avocado was dark brown.. we don't even feel comfortable eating the fish because of how off putting the avocado looks. Pretty disappointed. My group decided to stop here on the way back to Seattle from a weekend of camping. After eating hotdogs and sandwiches all weekend, we were in the mood for some "real" food. We were a little too tired to do the AYCE sushi, so we settled for a long roll each. I got the Mt. Rainier roll (fried shrimp inside, topped with tuna, salmon, and yellowtail?) and it was delicious! I especially LOVED the scallop pieces on top of it all. I also ordered a side of seaweed salad and that was fresh and tasty. My friends ordered simpler rolls such as spicy salmon (VERY spicy!), salmon skin, and California rolls. Also, I couldn't help but notice that a lot of their rolls have shrimp in them??? I'd liketo stop in again for the AYCE deal -- maybe at the Kent location since it's closer to home... I love sushi and Trapper's has a lot of unique rolls. I'm really intrigued by deep fried sushi rolls so maybe I'll get one of those next time ;) read more

On July 23, 2022, I ordered Sushi via DoorDash as I had done many times before from this establishment. The order was promptly delivered and the food was tasty. Within 3 hours of consuming the food, I fell violently ill requiring extensive medical diagnostic testing and even IV fluids on 2 consecutive days. The end result was a campylobacter infection. Campylobacter is a food-born bacteria that causes severe diarrhea and vomiting. It gets on the food by someone who prepares it, goes to the bathroom for a #2, and doesn't wash their hands afterward. Now, things can happen. I get that. However, after notifying Trapper's Sushi via email about what happened, I received no response. And I am stuck with the out-of-pocket portion of my healthcare. All that as a loyal customer - to add insult to injury. Because Campylobacter is considered a communicable disease, King County Public Health is now involved. I do not recommend eating here. Apparently, the food preparation staff does not follow basic food preparation guidelines (wash your damn hands!!!), and also clearly - management apparently only cares about money, not their customers. AVOID AT ALL COST!! read more

This place was very disappointing. Ordered seared albacore nigiri it looked like old fish slightly seared (see photo). Also ordered rainbow roll with tiny pieces of fish on top and just fake crab in the middle. The chicken teriyaki was dry and sad looking. Total bummer since it's the only sushi place in town.
