My son cane over from Sandpoint Idaho for Thanksgiving. We usually seek out good Chinese food, chow mein type. Today he surprised me by agreeing to go to Trapper's for sushi instead. I guess Sandpoint wouldn't qualify for destination status. We went early. Both had the AYCE agreeing to each order a different roll then share so we got a bigger tasting. We polished off eight rolls between us: 1 Puyallup, 2 Mt Rainier, 3 Firecracker, 4 Amazing, 5 Bonney Lake, 6 Baja, 7 Uncle Steve, 8 Warrior. We enjoyed every one of them. The place is clean. Service was good. Quality, flavor, variety very good. Prices reasonable for the AYCE when you eat that many rolls. It's definitely a keeper. read more

On July 23, 2022, I ordered Sushi via DoorDash as I had done many times before from this establishment. The order was promptly delivered and the food was tasty. Within 3 hours of consuming the food, I fell violently ill requiring extensive medical diagnostic testing and even IV fluids on 2 consecutive days. The end result was a campylobacter infection. Campylobacter is a food-born bacteria that causes severe diarrhea and vomiting. It gets on the food by someone who prepares it, goes to the bathroom for a #2, and doesn't wash their hands afterward. Now, things can happen. I get that. However, after notifying Trapper's Sushi via email about what happened, I received no response. And I am stuck with the out-of-pocket portion of my healthcare. All that as a loyal customer - to add insult to injury. Because Campylobacter is considered a communicable disease, King County Public Health is now involved. I do not recommend eating here. Apparently, the food preparation staff does not follow basic food preparation guidelines (wash your damn hands!!!), and also clearly - management apparently only cares about money, not their customers. Two of us ate these rolls: 1) Mt Rainier 2) Very Happy 3) Puyallup 4) Warrior 5) Rainbow 6) Salmon Skin (avocado instead of cucumber) 7) Custom: Salmon, tuna, avocado Some of the rolls were very interesting, mixing warm (deep fried) and cold elements together, with fancy sauces. I definitely enjoyed trying all these different creations. Towards the end, I felt like getting a roll that was more basic so I asked for a custom made roll. My wife and I came here as our first restaurant dine in experience since covid began. With phase 2 it's 50% capacity and they had every other table seated. Glad we had a reservation, pretty small joint! We are also new to North Bend so take this for what it is: new comers review. The good: super clean, waitress was fantastic and very transparent about how things weren't quite normal yet in their operations which is understandable. Lots of veggie options for my wife, and the Sapporo was cold. Prices were fair. The bad: the limited options for sashimi and what I did get was extremely thin cuts. I'm used to Umi in downtown Seattle so consider myself spoiled. The drink menu was also extremely limited. Worth checking out again once things get back to normal, might try them again in a few months. read more

Great rolls with anything from a basic California to tempura battered and topped with scallops! I like their plating and large menu. However, their online menu prices are lower than their current menu so they need to update that. It's the only sushi bar East of issaquah as far as I know. It's an eclectic combination of sports bar all you can eat sushi place. The all you can eat portions are huge so I'd recommend sharing and stomach planning. Solid 4 for any sushi place east of bellevue to say Chicago. The Asparagus roll wasn't as good as the rest of them but they all were still really good. My favorite was the Bonney Lake and my husband's was the crunchy California. A solid 4 stars for Trappers Sushi! Some gal pals and I (after hiking) decided to give Trappers a try. I am so, so happy we did! I had heard so many good things about Trappers from people who have tried the locations down South so I was super stoked to hear one was coming near when I liked to hang out. We rolled in around 815 (the close at 9) and easily found a spot at the bar. See - Tuesday nights are all you can eat for $20 but only at the bar. Great deal right?! Right! Anyhow, we had to get our first order in by 830 so after a frantic search of the menu we decided on the Amazing Roll and Amazing it was. My other girlfriend ordered the Mt. Rainier roll which was also super good. Those two rolls were our favorite of the night! Let me see if I can remember everything else we tried... Volcano Roll - YUM! STP - This was not my fav. The cilantro sauce was pretty strong. Uncle Steve - not my fav. My friends said this was SUPER spicy to them which I didn't taste Zucchini Roll - YES PLEASE! Asparagus Roll - good, but not as good as the zucchini Covington - this was my 3rd favorite roll of the night Our chef, James was awesome! I'm somewhat of a sushi snob and am giving this place 3 stars because of these reasons: Almost all the rolls are cooked or fried in some way, and they were very heavy handed on the rice. They had some interesting rolls, but I would've like to have seen the classics like "yellowtail and scallions", or a plain tuna roll. I had a seared tuna roll and the tuna was super dry rubbed in a very salty Season All seasoning which over powered the flavor of the tuna/roll. If you like tempura or shrimp rolls then you'll love this place. We had the flavored Lychee sake and it was very good. Over all a pretty solid meal it just felt so heavy when that's the last thing I think of when I think sushi. The salmon nigiri was super fresh and on point. They also have an all you can eat deal here for lunch. I'm glad I didn't get the $17.99 all you can eat because two rolls were enough for me especially with all the rice. We came here due to all the good reviews. Walked in and it looked like a decent place. 3 huge Tv's as well. I was excited they had ceviche here. It was pretty good. A little fishy and more jalepeno's would have been nice but its good. We also had the Volcano and Phoenix. Not too bad. But we walked out not very satisfied. And needing to eat something to cleanse the pallet. I should have known the food wouldn't have been that good when I noticed my wife was the only asian there. I have come to this location more times than I can count, we have always had great service, know the manager and top sushi chef James. Tonight the host said 20 minutes, 70 minutes later no one bothered to talk to us. I asked the host approximately how much longer to sit for all you can eat sushi? He was clueless, I asked him to talk to James, because the manager was not on staff tonight. A couple of two happen to come in after us and 2 people left leaving 2 seats, we were a party of three, I told the other couple to take those seats since the host ignored them. There were 3 seats however 1 seat was solo, all they had to do was ask the couple who had the same 1 sushi roll in front of them for an hour move over to accommodate us, which has been asked of us on numerous occasions. James came to us and was very rude and visibly stressed, after how often we frequent this location And are always waited on by James, I was flabbergasted by his attitude. If you want to run a sports bar, then run a slow sports bar, not a sushi bar. I will not be returning. All you had to do was take us to a table or ask your other two to move over, and serve us what we waited 70 minutes for since almost every table was open. You just lost a valuable customer. We were seated promptly at the sushi bar and our sushi chef let us know that he wanted to get our orders in before the 9 pm cut off time. We had shown up around 8 pm. Right away I ordered the Mt. Rainier roll and the Volcano roll, while my friends ordered the Amazing, Zucchini, Asparagus, STP, Covington Rolls. I ended up ordering the Uncle Steve roll as my last option. Everything I tried was good but I think our favorite out of everything we tried was the Mt. Rainier and Amazing roll. We were put into a sushi coma and didn't finish everything we had ordered. I guess this is what happens when you come in an hour before closing. You try and order as much as you can. Our sushi chef James was awesome. We had great conversations with him, he told us his specialty and he was quick at preparing our rolls. If you end up doing all you can eat, make sure you request James as your chef. Very knowledgeable guy. Someone said in a review that Trappers was small. It's not small. I've been to small restaurants where they only seat maybe 10-15 people at a time so don't let that comment fool you. There's enough room for probably 25-30 people, if not more. I used to really enjoy Trapper's. Not so much anymore. The sushi is pretty good, definitely not top tier but you also probably won't get food poisoning here. It's very small inside, so not great for larger families. I think it's over priced for what it is. Service is decent, but definitely make sure to have a reservation or you won't be eating here. They have the best absolute best sushi here. They have a great assortment of different dishes and make a variety of rolls that differ a bit from what you usually find in a typical sushi restaurant. The prices are reasonable (at least for sushi places). The only thing I didn't care for was the California roll as it was a bit small and unimaginative. After reading so many polarized reviews of various places, I decided to just roll the dice and go with the place that seemed to have slightly better ratings than the others....I'm really glad I did! Trapper's sushi in North Bend offered great value, good fish, and a clean venue. I chose the $26.95 AYCE dinner option because it offered nigiri, my girlfriend went with the $17.95 lunch option (smaller menu, no nigiri). Some of the reviews mention that there is a lot of rice and not a lot of fish. My experience differed. The nigiri cuts were delicious and pretty large compared to the rice block. The rolls were creative and we enjoyed just about all of them. I understand most AYCE places skimp on the fish amount (or sometimes quality) but I didn't feel like this place was one of them. **Keep in mind, the AYCE option is only available at the sushi bar. We eat sushi regularly and at all price points (I eat at sushi venues where my portion is anywhere from $15 to $300) so I feel like I can give a fairly accurate review. The value is good here and unless your expectations are unreasonable, you should be good to go. Can you get better sushi? Of course. For the value they offer, it is a decent choice. read more

The All-you-can-eat menu is only served at the bar where you order sushi by the roll. Each plate has 8-10 large pieces with very high quality seafood. With the quality of food at Trapper's, I would say that each plate would cost close to $10 at a place like Blue C Sushi (where you serve yourself and get mediocre sushi). So, by my estimation it only takes a few plates to get your money's worth at lunch (which only costs $17)! I live in Kirkland and drive out to North Bend specifically for Trapper's!! When we arrived there was no lines because we came in the off hours, but we still sat at the bar for the happy hour. I think it was 3 rolls for $22? Pretty good price for the size of the rolls. Two of the most memorable rolls would have to be the Warrior roll and the Trump roll! I would honestly come back here to eat just those two rolls. They were just that good! Its about 30 miles from our house but they have AUCE for $26.95 dinner and $17.95 lunch. So we got here and the atmosphere was great and inviting. The bathroom was extremmely clean. We ordered our sushi and the amount of sushi to rice was twice fold. It was amazing and juicy. We tried different rolls also which had a good portion of rice to inside stuff. We tried the smoked salmon which was different than the smoked salmon we normallu eat and we didnt really like it. Othwr than that this place is great! There is so many options you ca ln eat something new every time! We normally eat alot of sushi but this sushi was great portions we ate half of what we usually ordered in Las vegas. The staff were extremely nice to us and welcoming. They answered all our questions about the different rolls. We will be returning as this is now our sushi spot! read more

Honestly, I didn't expect to love Trapper's. "How good can sushi in North Bend really be?", I quipped. Well, I'm pleased to announce that I was completely mistaken. My SO and I first stopped here for AYCE lunch (rolls only) at the bar on our way home from skiing at nearby Snoqualmie Pass last year. We were ravenous, so AYCE sushi sounded great, and we figured we had little to lose at the very affordable $20 per person price point. We were lucky to snag two of the last remaining seats at the bar. At least for lunch, AYCE sushi only happens at the sushi bar, so you obviously need to make sure there are seats available. Our very friendly chef introduced himself, and pointed out the special on the board. It sounded delicious (yuzu and tuna, among other ingredients), so we signed up for one of those rolls while we perused the rest of the menu. The special blew us away, and was a sign of things to come. The fish was so fresh, and it was good quality stuff! If you've ever had the misfortune of eating the AYCE sushi buffet at Northgate Mall, rest assured that your experience here will not be akin to that one. This is *good* stuff, and that's because each roll is made to order--no stale rolls sitting around! We proceeded to get the Mt. Rainier, Seahawk, Baja, Mountain, Amazing, and Dragon rolls. None of them disappointed. Needless to say, we left very full and very satisfied, and I immediately did a 180 and began raving about this place to all my friends. I've since been back many a time. The food was delicious. I love sushi!! We were in north bend to outlet shop after the holidays. My family (husband and two older elementary kids)had great service for the most part.... Meaning 1/3 of the time. Amanda, who happened to be the host, waitress, server at times was great!! I only heard her name when she was acting server for the people behind us. She was very kind and engaging as hostess while we were waiting, told us that we were in luck because it was happy hour when we sat down, and showed us to the menu. Our waiter, however, Andrew, was inattentive and quite just unaware of everything as far as it goes for restaurant staff. He would make one whole trip for one item, and never asked to clear our table of empty items, so we just started pre-bussing our own plates, knowing that probably in the end, Amanda would be doing it all anyway! When we asked for a coke, Andrew didn't check on any tables around us, just went for the one coke and back. When we needed chopsticks, napkins etc. same thing. One table at a time checked in on- only when the people at the table said "hey, can we get..." When we paid, he just walked away with zero words. Zero! I know business/ people are hard to come by, but think Amanda would have done a better job running the whole show on her own, with his pay on top of it. We tried to not be rude with the service, both being in the restaurant business before, and ended up leaving 18% (that's the lowest they offered unless you do a custom tip). In hindsight we should have left a much lower tip. I can say, if I knew it was going to Amanda's tip, it would have been higher. read more
