If you're willing to get something a little bit better and not much more expensive than Olive Garden this might be your place. Although it was Sunday, it was primetime when MIAMI is overloaded because of the FIFA cup. That told me something was probably gonna make this a disappointing experience. I have not been there in the last 15 years. When they open some 30 to 40 years ago, it was one of the top Italian restaurants in Miami. The owner was Daniel if I remember. I hadn't been here in YEARS.. it was one of my parents favorite spots when I was younger, so we had frequented it often way back then. This particular night we had thought about going to go to the other Italian restaurant on this strip but I called and it had a long wait so my dad suggested Trattoria Luna. I was able to call in for a table easily, and it was ready when we arrived. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance here is upscale, though a bit outdated, which speaks to its older crowd that frequents.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service here is great, and the pastas were really very good, we were surprised how delicious the food was, and the portion sizes were perfect. You can eat it all and feel full without feeling like you over ate. I wish I recalled the wine we ordered, because we really enjoyed that also. Our kids ate their pasta dishes without complaints (also a pleasant surprise!) and wanted dessert. We enjoyed our meals so much that we were excited for the long dessert menu also and ordered 2 to try out and share. We ordered the tiramisu and torta de nonna (can't recall exact name). Unfortunately we did not care for the desserts.. they just lacked flavor and seemed like a waste of calories. That said, I'm okay with that.. I'd prefer my calories in the main course! Trattoria Luna has a nice atmosphere, and the decorations in the restaurant make you feel like you're not in a strip mall in Pinecrest! The service has always been great. The owner comes by to say hello, and the waiters are always filing up your water glass. My husband's grandmother has problems with food due to a face condition, and she specifically loves coming here because the fish is soft, and they were able to customize her dish. I always order the pumpkin ravioli, which is so tasty. I wish they just had a bigger serving of the ravioli like they do with the other dishes. The caprese salad was good too. I appreciate they have a lot of vegetarian options. My mother-in-law ordered the eggplant parm, and I may order that next time because it was really good as well! read more

Came here for an impromptu date night. The restaurant closes at 10, and we walked in at 8:30 and had the place to ourselves with the exception of one couple that stopped by for dessert. The waiters didn't make us feel rushed at all, and came and checked on us often. Super nice. We ordered soup, spaghetti a la carbonara, lasagna and a tiramisu. The soup and lasagna were both good, but a little on the salty side. Still ate them all though. The carbonara was GIANT - but delicious. And the tiramisu was yummy too. I'd come back. read more

Daniel and his staff were truly amazing. We had a rehearsal dinner scheduled at another restaurant and that restaurant went out of business; never telling us they closed. Being a local and trying to support local businesses, we decided to deviate from our norm (A Pizza Brooklyn) and order from Trattoria. I'm sad to say it left me frustrated for a delicious bowl of pasta. I ordered the carbonara and my husband the lasagna. If you're going to charge $26 for a lasagna, it's gotta look bigger than the piece of bread you sent with it. They must've thought the dish was meant for a toddler? The carbonara left so much to be desired, it was not only bland but the Alfredo sauce was so watery that it escaped the container and spilled all over the bag. Not to mention that I was served what looked like 5 small pieces of prosciutto with a hand full of peas. I paid $29 for fettuccine with watery sauce. I'm not trying to be mean but this is 100% true and I hope to save another person the trip. Trattoria needs a lot of work. read more

I hate to be leaving this review but I just had a very poor delivery experience. I ordered a chicken Parm and tiramisu, both tasted bad. Chicken seemed to be old??? They packaged my fettucini with the chicken so it got super soggy, besides that it was tasteless. The fettucini was good. The tiramisu was not good. Very expensive too & not friendly service when I called in to ask if they had soda. I'm in shock with the quality of the chicken, I feel sick tbh. This was my first time back here in almost 20 years, and honestly I don't know why it took me so long. It's still a great place! Very friendly and personal staff, attentive service, and the food is beyond delicious! The lasagna is one of the best I've ever had, and their Tiramisu .... Wow! .... It didn't take long to realize that many of those dining around us are regulars there, and with good reason. I will be back sooner this time. I just realized I've never reviewed Trattoria Luna on Yelp! Shame on me for keeping this hidden gem of a restaurant all to myself. We've been coming here for more than 20 years and have never, ever had a disappointing meal. The owner, Daniel is outstanding. He knows every regular diner by name and their likes and dislikes. He is welcoming to new customers and genuinely enthusiastic and eager to please. The staff is polite and attentive. The cuisine is authentic Italian. Everything is freshly prepared and delicious. The portion size is generous and everything is served at the appropriate temperature. This is a true family owned establishment and it shows. There is great care in providing a truly warm and caring ambiance. The dining room is charming and proper tablecloths and stemware provide a fine dining feel that is never stuffy. The restaurant is small enough to provide an intimate date night but large enough to host a party or celebration. Trattoria Luna has hosted larger birthday parties and recently a Baptism reception for us, always taking great care of our guests. There is simply nothing negative that I can point out about Trattoria Luna. It's just a great place for an every day dinner or a special celebration. A party of 14 is intimidating in some many ways. * Can they handle so many orders by one person? * Can they be attentive having so much on their plate (drinks, etc.)? * Will the food hits the spot for so many of us (is it cold, missed someone)? * Will you get killed with a mandatory tip? * Will they accommodate you being a small place? Well, they delivered and good. We celebrated Mother's Day a day prior to alleviate the nightmare of dinning on a special event. And we were happy that we chose this place. The server was knowledgeable and one of those that knows how to handle each member of the table including the kids. His interaction made the experience easier. Everyone loved their selection. Here is what we got from what I can remember. Antipasti: - Piatto di Antipasto (sampler of deli meats, cheese, black olives and roasted peppers) - Mozzarella in Carrozza (Fried mozzarella, tips it's unique, melts when cutting) - Calamari e Zucchini Fritti - Breads of the house Entrees: - Risotto "Prosciutto e Arugula" (one of the favorites) - Risotto "Agli Scampi e Asparagi" (for more see pictures) - Risotto "alla Pescatore" (seafood overload, loved) - Linguine ai"Frutti di Mare" (the jaw dropping plate of the night) Desserts: - The ABSOLUTE BEST Tiramisu I have ever tried. During checkout, I asked for the check and it tool over 30 minutes to received the check. I never knew who was my server, no eye contact and no one to one service. This is unacceptable way of dealing with a customer. I have come in several times with my family but it seems that the service they had has been gone. Food was nice and warm but lack taste. Service was excellent; multiple people stopped by the table to make sure we were enjoying the food and had everything that we needed. I wanted a glass of wine but wasn't sure which one to order from the menu. My server took note of my wine preferences and made an excellent recommendation. We were brought complimentary bread, but it was a little too hard. They were out of the lasagna, but made something with a similar flavor profile by using penne, red sauce, cheese, and beef. It was good, but it also tasted like something was missing. The rigatoni with sausage was delicious and definitely tasted homemade. Portion sizing was great for both dishes, and we were satisfied with the overall experience. It was $90 before tip for two glasses of wine and two entrees, which I'd say is relatively fair.
