I ordered the "carbonara" and the pappardelle tartufate and I was extremely disappointed by both. The carbonara isn't real carbonara although it is priced as if it was. The pappardelle was extremely overcooked. The pasta was falling apart and the mushrooms were mush. The only thing that made this dish edible was the truffle. Popped in here on a rainy Sunday seeking shelter from the storm. And food in my belly. The place was dead - we were the only ones there for about 30 minutes, which was creepy. Actually, we were accompanied by the wait staff who were watching the Copa America game on the flatscreen - I guess people must gather here for games or something when Italy is playing, you rarely see TV's in quaint Italian places. This place is really cute - very rustic Italian feel. The staff is very nice and attentive - we've had nothing by crappy customer service lately so anyone who serves us and is nice is a breath of fresh air. We ordered the grilled polenta with mushrooms, which was very garlicky but delicious. The polenta was so yummy - so soft but crispy on the outside from the grilling. We shared the gnocchi in pesto and the chicken parm. Both were phenomenal - the plates were huge so we took some home, which was equally delicious the day after. We also shared a capucino and the tiramisu, which rocked my socks. It was very creamy but also very light - it was perfect. We'll probably go back for that alone. read more

I never think to come to this restaurant, but my parents love it and I enjoy it every time I come. My mom and I decided to split the special - Salmon mustard sauce with scallops. Yum! They brought it out on two plates so we didn't have to split it ourselves. I thought that was so nice of them. The dish was a perfect portion of salmon and it came with vegetables and a few potatoes. I couldn't even finish the whole thing! The waiter was on point with the drink refills and very attentive. They were also good about offering fresh ground pepper and cheese before we started eating. I travel a lot. I seek out Italian food when I travel. I have not had such good Italian food since Calzone's in "the city" (check out my review). I cannot believe that this place was not busier, it was not late. I am on an expense account or I would have ordered a lot more food. Starters were some bread with butter and some bruschetta, very nice touch. I would have ordered the Caprese but it was a little higher than I like and would have blown my budget. So I just ordered the Lasagne, it was simple and had their bolognese on it, and so I tried that with their normal "pink" sauce. I have never had a lasagne as light as this, normally a lasagne is a gut buster but this was as light as cake. It was hot out of the oven (why it probably took a little longer to come out of the kitchen), and looked great. I asked and they do prepare their own pasta on premise "pasta fatta in loco" - there is a difference and you can tell on the first bite. Miami - you have a gem here, this place should be packed. Last night decided to order take-out from trattoria Luna as a rainy night treat. It has been some years since my last visit, but did have high expectations for a good meal. The order included chicken Marsala, chicken piccata and a slice of tiramisu cake. I rushed home to enjoy my dinner but was so disappointed! Both dishes contained vegetables and no PASTA!!! I have never not had pasta with these two plates. The vegetables were okay, but it was not pasta. Chicken piccata sauce was watery and no slices of lemon or flavor. Chicken Marsala sauce was thicker with a good amount of mushrooms. No garlic bread, instead small pieces of very hard stale bread was included. Dunking in olive oil did not improve the dense bread. This is a very pricey restaurant which did not live up to its reputation. So disappointed and will not be visiting again. The 12.00 tiramisu did not save the day. read more

We ordered Trattoria Luna from a nearby hospital when my wife gave birth to our first child. The owner was so excited for us (gifted us dessert, gave me a pre-COVID hug) that we always remember it fondly. Long story short, we went back to the hospital for the birth of our second daughter, and we ordered again! Love this place. Great people, good good--classic local Italian. Apparently I've been missing out on a great Italian restaurant for the past 18 years. We went at 7:30 on a Friday night and the place was decently crowded. The place has an elegant vibe. We were served a basket of assorted bread and a red dip (not sure what it was, but it disappeared quickly). The house Pinot noir was very smooth. We ordered chicken parmigiana, prosciutto and arugula risotto and shrimp al gamberi. I had the shrimp and it was delicious. My husband and daughter declared theirs was great, too. I have to give a shout out to the staff, who were very welcoming. The owner or manager came by several times. Our waiter was funny and attentive, and the gentlemen who seated us checked on us as well. At the end, we were served homemade limoncellos. I just came back from a trip to Italy two weeks ago, and this place brought it all back for me. Ps-it's located in a shopping center so there's plenty of parking. read more

This is a must try on your list restaurant. Oh my God now I can see why this place has been open for around 20 years. The food is absolutely delicious and so fresh. It's has that home good taste. I ordered the following: Linguine Ai Gamberi (The sauces stuck perfectly to the pasta instead of having the watery mess you can experience with many seafood dishes), Linguine "allá Carbonara" (you could tastes the fresh pasta), and their Risotto Ai Porcini (fantastic mushroom flavor). Found this restaurant by accident. We were going to another restaurant in the same shopping center and they were closed on Monday. Actually this was the only restaurant open out of approx 6 other restaurants. Well, what an amazing surprise! It was beyond delicious. From appetizer to dessert, everything was well prepared. So the food was wonderful. Perhaps the most tender veal I have ever had. The wine was expensive for what it was, but good and at least a good pour. The service is slow as he// , but the guys were good when they showed up. Just don't be in a hurry or really hungry when you show up because it takes awhile. I love Trattoria Luna, in a perfect world the love of my life would take me to eat here once a week...too bad the aforementioned are nonexistent. Anyway this place is super quaint, perfect place for a date. The only thing that kinda blows is that your views consist of the parking lot and US1...not that romantic. But they try their best to set the mood by putting up lights and plants and what not. This is not like your flashy Sobe or Brickell types, just a cute little Italian restaurant in a strip mall in suburbia. The menu is very varied and you can enjoy a myriad of staple traditional Italian dishes for affordable prices. I think my favorite thing about this place is the service as well. The waiters are the sweetest most caring and attentive men, they take pride in what they do and have respect for their work place. This place makes me feel like I'm at an actual trattoria in Italy, sitting down for a delicious meal after a long day of seeing the sights and history of Italy in person. It's probably one of the most authentic Italian places you'll find in Miami. Service here has always been incredible. Even if it wasn't, I'd probably still keep coming back because the food is just THAT GOOD. My 2 favorite dishes: Linguine Frutti de Mare, because it's a giant feast of every delicious sea creature. Shrimp. Mussels. Clams. Scallops. Fish. Swimming in a bowl of linguine goodness. Fettucine Carbonara, because it's so rich and creamy, and well...bacony. Pancetta at its best! It's the best cheat meal ever. Finish off with some profiteroles for dessert, and you're going to be rolling out of there ready to pass out into the most amazing carb coma you ever had. Okay, this isn't like 5-star review that I would give for say, example, a high end, upscale snobbery; it's better because the experience is authentic. We have the immense pleasure of being served by Giovanni who is in semi-retirement and only works 2-3 days a week. He was intimately familiar with the menu and he was even better with their extensive wine list. My colleagues and I spent the better part of 2 hours in their company and were treated as more friends than patrons. I had the Branzino with scallops and it was exquisite. Others had the veal and the daily pasta- each was of equal quality and taste. The restaurant itself is quite unassuming, but like I said, it is the experience afforded by the people. We met the owner and treated to limoncello for desert. As a frequent flyer to the Miami area, I will be returning and I would recommend this place to anyone! read more

Located in that plaza directly across US1 from the Datran building. btw, that plaza, i call it little EPCOT since it also has restaurants that are french (bistro bissou), japanese (miyako), spanish (rincon español), irish (carrigan's irish bar), a fish house (living seas), and roasters n toasters (make you puke disney food). Anyway, the minute you walk in you are quick to notice you're not in miami anymore. The decor is full on Italian. With the entire wall painted in a way that it looked you were in a tuscan village. The dimmed lighting carry a redder than usual hue, giving the restaurant a warm and romantic feel. The minute the menus were passed we noticed how nicely designed the menu were. With pictures of ingredients tossed between the fancy handwritten font and it was all in COLOR! Aside from the attention to the restaurant's detail, the food, unfortunately, doesn't match. I ordered a Lasagna with a 4-cheese sauce. For the most part when I was served the dish, i looked very nice. It seemed it wanted screamed out "I'M DELICIOUS NOW EAT ME!!". But after a couple of bites i couldn't resist the semi-foul taste it held inside. I don't know if it was in the meat or in the ricotta..but it tasted like the chef added too much 'zest' from a sweaty used sock. What i mean is that It tasted like a foot. and it wasn't much to my pleasure. I did my best in eating the food as it was quite pretty and all...but the taste.. I couldn't bear the foot taste. I tried to distract myself and try a piece of my fiance's chicken. It, too, had the taste of feet. Quite disappointed i'd say. I still cannot give this place a 1 or 2 star because despite the chef's "foot fetish", the restaurant overall is worthy enough for a nice romantic dinner. read more

Trattoria Luna is, hands down, our go-to local Italian place. The food is honest, delicious, high quality and the menu offers something for everyone. The service is professional and helpful and you really feel like you are in that great neighborhood trattoria that every neighborhood wishes they had. As a first timer, I had no expectations, but since the moment I walked through the door to the moment I stepped out, the service was amazing!! The staff was very inviting, polite and attentive. The place is small, so they make sure to leave appropriate distance so it doesn't feel like they are part of your conversation, if you know what I mean. Second, the ambience was very delightful. If you enjoy quiet, romantic and small Italian-esque places you'll love Trattoria Luna. I recommend going for dinner to get the best little 'Italiano' restaurant experience. Now, let's talk food! I had the 'Mezzelune de zucca' which was a pumpkin-stuffed ravioli with a pink sauce that was amazingly delicious. It easily became one of my favorite Italian dishes. I paired my entree with a glass of pinot noir, which was a very tasty compliment to the pasta.
