Best diner ever. Typically a picky person when it comes to breakfast but this place is a favorite. Great menu for a diner as well. So many choices that it's hard to actually decide unless I already know what I want before I get there lol. They also have a liquor license so u can grab a quick drink with lunch or dinner. They've been doing a cultural trend lately so every week is new cultural specials to let u try new things from around the world. Shout out to the cooks for constantly adapting to a changing menu. Last but not least, the servers r always awesome and accommodating to ur wants and needs. I've always gotten Renae since my wife and I started going cuz she's always hot the menu down perfect and has been honest about all the dishes. 10 out of 10 would recommend this place to both locals and those just passing through. New and improved diner in Bridgeport, has some minor growing/new business pains. But the food was great and worth a wait. Southwestern BBQ chicken was excellent with just the right amount of sweet and spicy with perfectly crispy fries . The Ruben always a classic but the star for our table was the hash browns. Crispy outside seasoned well with a little spice and soft tasty inside. Will definitely return Secret fun tip look for hidden gnomes literally stamped all over the diner. Stopped into the traveling gnome for the first time. We went at 10am on a Saturday and were seated right away. I ordered the cinnamon roll waffle. My husband got the apple fudder bites. Both were delicious. The cinnamon sauce on the waffle wasn't overly sweet which was nice. read more

Such a cute diner. I heard the waitress mention that the new owners purchased the diner and completely renovated it. I think the gnome theme was a great idea seeing they are so popular right now. I read some previous ratings that said the service was slow but they have worked that out because we were seated immediately and from the time we ordered we had our food in about 15 minutes. I ordered the pulled pork hash and eggs with a biscuit. The pork tasted smoked and was tasty but I didn't like that some of the cubed potatoes were hard and not seasoned. The eggs were over easy and cooked perfectly. The biscuit was homemade. I will come back when in the area and try something else. read more

Such a cute diner! It was worth the drive from Liverpool. I went there as part of a big group and had the option of choosing from their extensive breakfast or dinner menu. Our server immediately took our drink orders and in the meanwhile we got to meet the lovely owners and heard about their fascinating travel stories with their gnome. Coming to the food, I got the boujee grilled cheese sandwich and carrot cake (not pictured). The sandwich was delicious- filled with gooey cheese, avocado, tomato, bacon and fried egg. The sweet potatoes fries on the side could have been more crispy. The cake was out of this world- not at all dry with slightly sweet cream cheese frosting. One of the best I have had. Our server was polite and gave good suggestions. The service was a bit slow for the food. I am assuming it was because of the sudden rush of people. Stopped in this evening and they wow'd us. My wife got the Monte Carlo. She said the flavours were on point and the tots were perfect, crispy outside and the perfect texture inside. I got the Back Alley Burger with tots. I could tell the burger was fresh-made with quality beef. It was cooked perfectly and juicy. The mix of caramelized onions and blue cheese was sweet and tangy at the same time. Probably THE BEST burger I've had locally. The service was outstanding! Renee was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. It is a rather large menu, but well thought out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There's something for everyone at a fair price. Definite quality ingredients in the food. Although we didn't order from the specials, it was really interesting and fun to read the specials, this week from Hungary, as well as learn about Hungarian food on the back of the specials menu. It's not often a meal comes with interesting new information. That's a definite plus as it adds a measure of refinement to the dining experience and shows the owners/managers put a great deal of effort into their dishes. As far as price, definitely worth it. The prices are comparable to any restaurant in the area. Certainly not too high for the quality of the food. Those who are complaining really have no clue about how much it costs to run a restaurant. I spent 20 years in North Carolina, where they take biscuits and gravy SERIOUSLY! I have to say I wanted to lick my plate! It was that good! The gnome fries, better known as home fries!! I had high hopes based on the menu. Dad and I went for the prime rib. The prime rib was not Available until 5. We arrived at 4. So we left and came back at 5. After waiting for 45 minutes we asked the server for our salads. When the Entree arrived it was so rare and I mean rare. The mashed potatoes were so cool that butter did not melt on it, And flavorless. We took the prime rib home. Dad cooked it for dinner the next day and said it was delicious. I am hoping that time will improve the food. I will give it time and try again. read more

I'm giving them four stars simply because I love supporting local spots and don't want to hurt their rating here. But my visit wasn't great. I'm honestly posting this to try and help the place. The good news: Inside is clean and decor is cute. Seating is comfortable and well set up. People were very nice. Breakfast potatoes were well seasoned and the pancakes were large with plenty of chocolate chips. The bad news: Service was slow. Thirty minutes from sitting to getting food isn't ok for a not busy diner during breakfast. I asked for my omelet to be cooked soft. What I got was a browned outside and an undercooked inside (runny whites). It also was lukewarm and the toasted bread had lost any crisp, making it obv it had been sitting a while. The pancakes, while large, were not fluffy--but chewy actually. Taste was fine. Biscuits from a can I think and gravy probably too. I'd like this place to do well and maybe I visited on an off morning. But the cooks have to learn how to cook eggs better and the food needs to get from the kitchen to the table quicker. read more

The Traveling Gnome Diner (great remodeling) has many offerings on the menu and good food (for the items we had, french toast for me and home made pulled pork hash, scrambled egg and grilled potatoes for my wife), but the kitchen is too slow. 75 minutes (10 AM to 11:15 AM) from order time to food on table for breakfast is unacceptable. Dinner waits must be longer since dinner offerings are more complex. And not just our table, as all the guests were waiting with us. It appears they are using the same kitchen that the old diner used (we ate there for 10 years between 1992 and 2002). We were told there are 3 chefs in the kitchen but no space to work. Granted they have only been open 3 weeks but IMHO they need a smaller menu, especially for breakfast. A menu that can be churned out quicker. Would we go back? Probable. but we will wait a while until the get kitchen issues worked out. 5 stars for taste and 1 star for the wait. Average 3 starts. BTW They have gluten free bread. That's a plus. read more

My Wife and I went to the Traveling Gnome, for her birthday dinner. We were there during Polish month, so i had the gulumpkies and peroggies, my wife had the stuffed mushrooms. We found the food to be just like my Mom used to make, and including the portion size. The place is immaculate. The servers are friendly and cheerful. The desserts are heavenly and made from quality ingredients! All are made from scratch on the premises. The owners are wonderful people bringing a quality place to stop at when we venture south from Watertown NY. Talk about poor service. I have no complaints over the food, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. I have been there only two times and both times they were late with the food. The second time it took an hour before we got our meal. The excuse was they were a new restaurant with new staff and that they had only been open a month. If they continue with such poor service, they will only be open another month! Coming from the restaurant business myself, I know that you must be fast and efficient no matter what your position is in the restaurant. If the staff wasn't ready and didn't get the response time twenty minutes or less, the cook needs to go back to culinary school or training, either or you need to not open until they are. Met my girlfriend's to try the Traveling Gnome. It was a great choice. First, the restaurant is adorable! Pictures of the owners Traveling with their gnome Fudwick to a variety of gnomes on display. If you want a more intimate meal there are several ski lift gondolas that seat two for a cozy, private dinner. Our waitress was exceptional. She was very friendly and took time to explain the story of the restaurant. She checked with us frequently and kept our coffee cups full! The country of the week was Jamaica so we sampled the breakfast special of banana fritters. Delicious as is, but even tastier with a little syrup. My one friend got the breakfast casadia that was loaded with eggs, meat and your choice of veggies. She added gnomefries and toast. My other friend ordered the Fudtachos which was tater tots covered in "fud" meat , nacho cheese and veggies. I ordered the Gnomie Hangover which was a meal fit for a king! A western omelet loaded with ham, peppers, onions and cheese. Gnomefries, I added onions to mine, bacon, sausage, French toast and toast. Wow! The omelet was delicious, not huge but stuffed nice and thick. I was able to eat that along with the gnomfries, piece of sausage and one slice of toast. I brought the rest home. The sausage wasn't breakfast sausage, but a mild sweet sausage that was very tasty. This morning I had my left overs of French toast, bacon and toast. The French toast was delicious warmed up. It was sweet and buttery and moist but not gooey inside. It would have been spectacular freshly made! The bacon could have been cooked more for my taste, but the smokey flavor was yummy.
