I've always viewed the Wyndham brand as acceptable, decent budget hotel/motel. It's not great, but not bad either. It's good for a quick budget stay. I do expect cleanliness to be a priority, even if all others are mediocre. Our room appeared to not be cleaned very often, as there was dust in areas where there shouldn't be, i.e. near bed. The toilet appeared to not have been cleaned thoroughly either as there was hair in it that couldn't be flushed down, and stuck to the bowl. I didn't feel like it was a decent hotel. We were under the impression that we would get breakfast, as that was on the property info, but there was only coffee and tea. We were all a little bit disappointed, but at least Schat's Bakery was just down the street. I just came back from a trip to Japan, so my expectations are somewhat set on those standards. Their budget hotels put the budget hotels in the United States to shame! There is no pride in being better in the US, and just accepts status quo and mediocre. It's just enough to not totally suck, but not good enough for acceptable hospitality. I truly felt Japanese hotels provided an amazing option to families traveling on a budget. The rooms were very clean and tidy, the amenities were adequate, and the service top notch. Although I had a lot of issues with this motel disguised as a hotel, it was budget friendly and if that's what's most important, then this is an acceptable, but not preferred, choice. read more

This place is a complete dump--come at your own risk. We booked a room that included continental breakfast, but when we arrived, there was none available. The property itself is falling apart: The old fridge was so noisy we had to turn it off (and it was off when we arrived, so we couldn't store our food). Balcony chairs were broken--a real hazard. Cracks everywhere: floor, walls, ceiling. Drawers were filthy and hadn't been cleaned. Ice machine out of order. Soda machine out of order. Terrible experience from start to finish. Much about the Travelodge was quite fine: comfortable bed, clean room, good bath and shower, relatively quiet, very convenient to restaurants, Bishop park, AC worked well, etc. The service (check in, maid) was excellent. My only complaint is that the wifi wasn't especially strong in my room. Okay for email and light duty web browsing. Oh, I should add that the price was very reasonable. I will gladly stay here again when I'm looking for a convenient, inexpensive, and comfortable stay. read more

During the busiest weekend of the year in Bishop, Mule Days, I found myself in an incredibly vulnerable and frightening situation past midnight. I had just been through a distressing experience at the celebration and was left without shelter, support, or any sense of safety. Every hotel/motel/inn was full, the streets were silent, (minus the wandering guy on the bike) and I had nowhere to go. That's when I saw the light on at Travelodge, and it quite literally felt like a beacon in the dark. Inside was Rob, a young associate working the night shift , who in every sense of the word, saved me. Rob didn't just offer help, he offered genuine human compassion. He let me wait safely in the lobby until a room became available. He made me coffee. Gave me water. Sat with me and talked to me while I gathered myself and processed. He called other hotels, he called his manager, and he did everything he could to make sure I wasn't alone or forgotten in a moment when I felt so afraid. Rob didn't know my story. He didn't know how much I'd been through that night. But he treated me with the kind of empathy and care that made all the difference. I truly believe he was the right person in the right place at the exact moment I needed help the most. His kindness didn't just make my night easier, it helped me feel safe again. That's not something you forget. I also want to thank the manager, who kindly made accommodations so that I could stay that night. your willingness to help behind the scenes did not go unnoticed. And thank you to Chris, the associate working the next morning, who greeted me with the same warmth and made sure everything continued to go smoothly. It was the best price/quality option (with a dog) when Hwy 395 was closed a few miles north of Bishop due to snow. The bed was very comfortable, bathroom clean and heating decently quiet. The price also included breakfast and free wifi. Carpet had many stains but that's (kind of) to be expected in a "pet friendly" room. They may want to remove the carpet in those rooms and change it to luxury vinyl for future upgrades. read more

Hotel false advertises on Priceline that they have free breakfast. The cashier contact Chris has no customer service skills or empathy and did nothing to help compensate for the false advertising. I would not have purchased this place knowing they had no breakfast. I pick hotels with breakfast for my family and they falsely advertise for amenities they don't have. It's exactly as advertised and what you would expect. We reserved the 1 king two twins "suite" which is basically your typical motel room with a small room which contains two twins and nightstand and a Tv. Definitely a good option for a family. They have free continental breakfast in the morning. Staff is friendly, beds are decent. Good option if mammoth is super expensive and you are willing to drive 45 minutes. This review is for room 122 and is based on its price range of $135. I frequently rate less expensive rooms 5 stars even though they are not as "nice" as this room. I removed a star here because the carpet needs cleaning for sure and it's raveling our at the edge (see pic). And because there was a small leaf between the sheets. (:-) which didn't matter to me but it was there so I note it. And because this room is $135 the dirty carpet was enough to ding a star. Everything else is clean and just fine. The bathtub is especially NICE with shelves for large shampoo bottles. NOTE: Checkout is 12 noon and they will allow a little later if requested. THAT is sometimes very nice. Bed is ok but NOT one of the newer fabulous beds that some Wyndham hotels now have. Sheets were not new so they were nice and soft. There is only one thin blanket. I prefer the air cold so one blanket wasn't enough. I was cold. Turning up heater was not nice. Be sure to request extra blankets at check in if this sounds familiar. HEATER WORKS WELL. has Avery nice "continuous" mode for fan so on/off cycling didn't wake me up. Tiny fridge but it WAS cold. Microwave, coffee maker, hairdryer and soap/shampoo is handed out in a baggie at checkin. I stayed here because I had a free night in Hotels.com and the less expensive hotels in Lone Pine didn't book free nights. And I prefer parking at my room. NO breakfast due to Covid but they have coffee and tea. They really should remove the hot chocolate machine because it is also NOT available during Covid. Go figure. Well, I'm still giving them a 4 star rating besides some hiccups in our stay. The beds were outstanding with amazingly comfortable mattresses and pillows. The room had good immensities with a table and chairs, microwave, and fridge. The morning breakfast was simple yet delicious. The staff at the front desk was superb when checking in and out. The carpet had stains, the phone was out so we couldn't call the front desk, and the worse part was we woke up to ants all over. It was a comfortable stay for a good price so I definitely would stay here again. read more

My husband, poodle and I have stayed in this hotel numerous times, without any issues. The room we were given this trip, smells like . I went to the front desk to ask for a new room. I spoke with Dan who spoke with his manager Tracy. Dan went so far as to walk over to the room to smell the room. Dan's comment, "it smells like dog". Tracy decided because we were given the key three hours ago, (we went to dinner and for a walk), they refused to give us another room. What the heck, after all the times we've stayed here, they think I just want a new room because my dog made the room stink. Just about all hotels accept dogs now, you don't have a corner on the market. I am done with this place! I have never stayed in a "dog designated" room and had it smell like dog ! Clean the carpet, bedspreads and whatever else is fabric in the room. Wyndham, Dan needs to go to customer service school or better yet, FIRE HIM! When I checked in he was rude and abrupt. Things went down hill from there. Imagine, as the customer that the clerk working the front desk doesn't believe you that the room stinks and walks over to smell it. I am beyond shocked!!! Do you have any idea how far Bishop is? 4 hours on the lone HWY 395 when there's slow car in front but no passing lane: XD Check in was fast and staff was friendly. She asked if I prefer upstairs or downstairs I said doesn't matter. I didn't realize she gave me a suite until later I decided to inspect the room, two closed doors which one I thought would be to the connected room but it turn out to be a small room with two twin bed. Its like chamber of secret that I found it's a bit spooky because I watched too many horror movie and since she apparently know I was traveling by myself because I only asked for one room key. (It's actually decent for a whole family of 4!) Room is comfy with microwave, mini fridge and dryer. Breakfast is from 6 to 10am and it looks decent (yogurt, fruit, cereal, waffle, juice...first time I woke up early enough for free breakfast but I already had something else in town I want to try) Con: parking lot is small but should be plenty street parking. WiFi is barely useable but my Verizon is awesome! (Happy customer of Verizon wireless:P) Heater is not as quiet as I would like but acceptable Water temp in the shower can be hotter if you want a super hot bath. it's a nice place to stay and one block away from the infamous Erick Schat's bakery:) read more

When you check into a hotel nowadays the front desk usually clicks and clacks the computer for 20 min before getting you your keys and that has become standard even after driving for 8 hours at 1130 at night. Booked through Priceline.com, while in lone pine CA, looking for a hotel in lone pine, since we were driving from Reno to LA and needed to stop for the night. This came up in Lone Pine. After I paid, they sent me the address, which was more than 50 miles away, in the direction we just came. Tried to cancel/change the reservation within 5 minutes of finding out this mistake, but they refused Kept $124 of mine. Will never stay at a travel lodge or use Priceline again. Super clean, very nice employees but the AC in our room stopped working 3 hours into being here. They said they would not be able to get maintenance to take a look at it until tomorrow morning. On a day when Temps hit over 100, the room is tepid and the main plans I had for tomorrow are more than likely canceled because I was leaving my dog in the "cool" room so we could do early morning hiking. I stayed here in between my travels from Death Valley to Yosemite. The town itself is pretty cute - there's a bookstore, some clothing shops, eateries. The travelodge is OK for what it is. It's mostly clean. However, from your room you can hear your neighbor door slamming and conversations outside pretty easily as well as trucks passing by. Most of the people I saw stay here were in construction or trucking. There's breakfast - I think it starts at 6am - but it was standard breads (muffins, english muffin, etc), yogurt, cereal, coffee, some fruit. You could tell it was all the cheap kind just from how pale everything looked. read more

One star for not having rodents / pests. And one star for Angels excellent service at the front desk. My wife and I stayed here on a Saturday night. We had booked about 10 days ahead in anticipation of a good snow storm in mammoth. Unfortunately, everything was sold out in mammoth so, for the first time ever, we stayed in bishop. Check in was great and easy. The room was a different story tho. The room had a slight stench of curry or something sour. The linen was clean which was good but floor was not vacuumed and thus dirty. There was a fly inside the bathroom for some reason. We checked for bed bugs and the bed was good. No issues. Decently comfortable. We almost opted to just go home instead of stay but were so tired and knocked out in the process of considering it. I would never stay here again. And, depending on your tolerance level, I'd consider staying elsewhere. The service was great. And it's a close place to stay. But the lack of cleanliness inside the room definitely is off putting. read more

Arrived and check into hotel, dropped our stuff off in the room and went to look around the town and eat dinner. We came back to the hotel and I walked into the tiled area near the bathroom and slipped and caught myself before I fell. Saw dampness from my shoes and assumed I had tracked it in from outside, then my wife took off her shoes and her socks got wet after walking on the carpet. The entire rooms carpet was wet. We thought they had cleaned the carpet and it did not dry. We felt it was too late to ask to change rooms and we were tired. We covered the carpets with towels so we would not get our feet wet or chemicals on them. Went to front desk for more towels and informed them about the situation, she said they had shampooed the room earlier in the day and it must not have dried yet. As I was walking back to the room I noticed the sign that said fire extinguisher was missing a fire extinguisher. Now I am starting to worry how safe this location is. For a budget hotel this was great! The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and pet fee was only $15. The location is great! Walking distance to restaurants and next to nice park I could take my dog to. I walked to Eric Schat's bakery in the morning instead of the free breakfast. A must if you are in Bishop. The only downside was the walls seemed to be really thin. I could hear my neighbors no problem but most people are there for outdoor activities and are tired by the end of the day so it was quite by 10 and I was up early anyways. The staff was very friendly. The lady at the front desk was kind enough to give me one of the rooms by the pool. Those are single story so you don't have to listen to anyone above you. After realizing how thin the walls were I was so thankful for that! If I ever stop in bishop again for the night this will be my go to. read more

If I could give this place zero Stars I would. We stayed there for four nights and had water bugs big ugly ones every morning on our floor. We explained to the lady up front that they should have some level of cleanliness, and she explained that they come in because of the heat and that they spray once a week. Ants on the table in the rooms as well. She refunded $50 of our total bill If you stay here be prepared to elevate your clothes. read more

I can't comment on anything else because I didn't end up staying there. This place is horrible!!! There were ants on the bed and dressers!! We brought this up to the staff's attention and they were already aware of this pest problem but no action was taken. We spoke with other people staying there who also complained to the staff and no action was taken. Upon looking at older reviews from 6 YEARS AGO they had the same issue as well. Absolutely disgusting. The king bed in the two bedroom suite had sex stained sheets and a hole in it which we asked to be replaced. When we came back later, the housekeeping only made the bed with the same dirty sheets. This leads to the suspicion that THEY DO NOT CLEAN SHEETS IN BETWEEN DIFFERENT GUEST STAYS?! On top of that, they hardly have any breakfast. The should state there limited breakfast so people know before they book. They only have stale bagels, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, yogurt and apples that look like they were brought back from the dead. No juice, no toast, no pancakes or waffles, no sausages. STAY AWAY FROM HERE. We have used Travelodge before and this has been the most disappointing one in all these years. The wifi is extremely slow, if it even decides to work at all. If you're looking to work while you're out of town as I was, this is not the place. Book somewhere else, this place is so not worth it. read more

Well, first impressions suck so far. Showed up at a few mins past 3...room isn't ready. She said come back in an hour. We are EXHAUSTED!!! Long ass drive, and now we can't even check in. And here we go with the excuse of the pandemic and being understaffed. I get it. You can't keep up. Well...after over a year of everyone dealing with a pandemic, this excuse is getting old. I'm sick of paying FULL price for things, and getting less than mediocre service and being expected to just be ok with that. No. I'm done with that. Communication was crap. Turned us away when we were en route to visit family for Christmas. No prior call/communication before our arrival, no breakfast service offered, wifi was poor, front service and manager were not helpful. Better to check Creekside Inn or Comfort Inn instead. read more

Stay there over the weekend. Very old hotel clean. The bed was hard. Not very appealing rooms. Over price.

First off , I give 5 stars for the customer service from Angel at the front desk . He was very personable and made sure we were satisfied with our rooms . He gave us recommendations for places to eat around town and sights to see . The price was reasonable and rooms were clean . The free continental breakfast gets a passing grade . Good location right off Main Street , behind Giggle Springs mini market , you can just walk there to get anything you need . I would stay here again the next time we are in Bishop . read more

It's your basic hotel with the usual chemical smell, loud Air Conditioner and hopefully clean sheets. The staff was friendly and the breakfast had a lot of items that were fresh/clean. I'll have to come back to get some fishing in the local lakes. read more
