Pulled into Bishop on the way to Mammoth and stayed at the Comfort Inn. Honestly, it's a solid place to crash for a night. Free breakfast is always a win especially when it's hot and delicious, and the sheets and bathroom were clean, which is really what you want after a long drive. Only downside was I could hear some traffic from my room which got a little frustrating at times. Nothing catastrophic, just not perfectly quiet. Overall though, a decent stay and a good pit stop if you're headed up to Mammoth and need a place to recharge. read more

Ehh, I used to like this spot, however the pool was dirty with flies, a spider, and a big water bug! There also was a spider in the shower, which is featured in the photo, which is not a good sign. You put your life at risk! DO NOT STAY HERE! I walked into my room and found the bathroom floor already flooded. Then I noticed water DRIPPING THROUGH THE CEILING LIGHT--an electrical fixture. That is not a "minor maintenance issue," that is a serious safety risk. The fact that they allowed a room in this condition to be rented is mind-blowing. I went straight back to the front desk and requested a different room. They refused and claimed there were "no rooms available," while checking in other guests right in front of me. Complete dishonesty on top of negligence. Rude staff, unsafe conditions, and zero accountability. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I've had. This hotel was conveniently located in the middle of town near lots of places. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Rooms were sufficient for our over night stay but walls are thin and we heard everyone walking above us and past our room. If ur looking for some nice sleep and R & R this probably isn't the hotel for u.. but if u night a place to crash to get to your next destination it was good enough. read more

This hotel has dual pane windows that keeps the noise out and the room that my wife and I stayed at was located next to the highway, this room had black out curtains. This room was spacious, this room had two queen beds and a nice sofa for watching the flat screen T.V. This hotel has a really nice breakfast and many options to choose from This hotel has plenty of parking and a large pool and spa. This hotel is located near many restaurants and shops. Awful! We had a reservation for 3 nights, in the past 3 years, we could cancel the 3rd night without penalty. This year..they require a 30 day notice! The staff person refused to check us out when we left. Our room was next to the SUITE, so square footage was taken out of our room. It was NOT a regular room size at all. We didn't complain about the room, or request a move, but should have! It truly was the worst room/location in this motel. The staff person was SO rude! Despite the exterior being somewhat dated the rooms were clean and modern. The "free " breakfast wasn't spectacular but sufficient with a good selection of hot and cold choices. The gal managing the breakfast was very helpful and pleasant. Most importantly due to a misunderstanding Booking .Com had charged us for two nights and then cancelled the reservation we had changed with the hotel. Finally a place that looks just like the pictures. The room was clean and modern. We took a trip to Reno, NV and stayed here as the halfway point. They have the most scrumptious breakfast buffet each day 7am to 9am. It's busier on weekends. We actually only planned to stay here once but because we loved it so much, we stayed again on our way back. In our first day we checked in at midnight and there was someone at the front desk. There is a delicious restaurant right next store that you can get 10% off if you stay at comfort inn (not sure if you have to be a member or not to get the discount). Aaron's Schatts Roadhouse is a delicious place for burgers and sandwiches ! They also have salads etc. Right next to that is a Starbucks walking distance! Couldn't have picked a better spot. Would not want to come back here. There's ants and crickets everywhere including the room. There's stray cats roaming around the property. The walls are thin, the curtains are barely holding together, and the bathroom faucets are cracked. When we got there at 7:30 PM they said our room wasn't ready yet?? For a few others also as well. Given the circumstances of a struggle-economy, I was like fine, whatever, we can get dinner. On Sundays, most restaurants in the area close at 8p, and kitchens close at 7:30. Sucks. El Pollo Loco it is because the famous BBQ place next door has a 30+min wait. We went to get the key upon return and there was another guest, a girl who said she went to the movies to kill time also. We were supposed to be in a smoke-freeroom but I can clearly smell smoke in the vincinity. Gross and disgusted. The electricity was out for at least 7 rooms and they offered us 50% off that night. We luckily we had camper lights... The next day we keft and came back around 2pm and the lights still were out. We asked the maintenance guy and he had it fixed in 15mins. Suspicious. Heard a couple of neighbors coughing. Probably not a clean place to stay. They had packed breakfast to go. A paperbag of an apple and a banana, OJ, a choice of muffin, a choice of hot or cold "entree" (Jimmy John's small breakfast sandwich or a burrito). Staff was nice, warm. Room was still not ready, said they would call. Ate dinner next door finished at 7:15, no call. Walked back to hotel (5 min) was told they were just finishing the room. The two ladies at the front desk were borderline rude, unsympathetic that we were exhausted and a bit hostile when I asked for credit on the bill since we did not have access to the $240.00 room we paid for between 4:00-7:20. Was told the check-in time was not guaranteed, the manager would be there in the morning. We had to depart at 6am. Had a major cricket problem inside the room. After listening to the chirping for 2 hours we finally found a live cricket hiding underneath the blanket we'd put on the floor. We killed it and thought our terror was over but 5 min later the sound started again. The crickets are literally in the wall and apparently nothing can be done, unless you want to wait for maintenance to come in the morning which isn't helpful when you need to sleep tonight. I've never encountered such rude behavior on the part of the office staff. Stayed last night and thought I had updated our stay to include an additional night. Received a call at 11 this morning from the office telling us that we were over staying and needed to vacate the room or come pay for the additional night. I let her know that I thought I had already paid on line and I needed to check. A few minutes later I received a call stating that we were over staying and that we had 25 minutes to get out or the police would be called. I have never (in 64 years of travel) been threatened like that. My husband and I were shocked at this poor treatment, packed up and left. Found a cheaper motel with nicer staff. Still monitoring my FC account to make sure only one night charged. What a rude staff. Totally should not be working in hospitality. Stayed here for 1 night during a drive up to June Lake. The hotel is right in the middle of town, easy to walk to food and of course Schat's bakery! Small parking lot that was totally full by the end of the night. We had a room with a bedroom so we had 2 queens and 1 king bed, spacious and very comfortable but only had 1 bathroom. We've stayed in some hotels where these type of rooms had 2 bathrooms. Rooms were updated and really nice. Fridge and microwave ready to use. Breakfast was a to go bag with water, muffin an orange and yogurt. Would have been nice to have a few more choices, or maybe even hot food served in like a breakfast bowl. NEGATIVE STARS! This place cancelled my reservation without my permission. The office lady (Cindy?) openly stated she was overwhelmed and I heard her on the phone with her manager saying that EXPIDIA called her (that's not even who I booked through) and cancelled multiple reservations, including mine. Just because I called earlier inquiring about the cancellation policy she cancelled my reservation along with all of those others. Then she has the audacity to call the cops on me just because I asked for proof that my reservation was cancelled because I still had a charge on my account and no cancellation confirmation from the third party booking site. She blatantly lied to my face and then tried to cover her tracks because she effed up. Never EVER coming back here and will be spreading the word of the unprofessionalism and absolute disregard for their customs. We traveled all the way from Idaho and slept in a car the night before. I made very sure to book this early in the morning so we had a comfortable safe place to stay and she ruined all my effort and put us in a very unfortunate position since all other hotels are now booked again for the night. To preface, I never leave bad reviews... ever! But this experience needs one. My husband and I have been coming here for 8 years, and have loved it. That is until tonight. We arrived to check in and the front desk person, Sam, was the rudest employee I think we have ever had. My husband picked up the phone by the front door and she didn't answer until he showed his face. She then snapped at my husband and was incredibly unhelpful about checking in. We booked through hotels.com, where we normally book, and she said they didn't have the reservation on their end after a weak attempt to search. She gave my husband a lot of attitude and basically didn't try to help. We ended up booking a room directly through Comfort Inn which we wouldn't have minded if Sam wasn't incredibly hostile. Our Third Party, hotels.com even tried calling her to get an issue resolved but Sam did not answer them even though the phone was clearly ringing. When we got to our room she stuck us in the smallest double queen room we've ever stayed in here. It's a Thursday night in the off season, there is no way this is the only room available. The parking lot is practically empty. I came back and lifted the phone at the front she again doesn't answer until I show my face. I honestly think she doesn't answer the phone ever unless a customer is staring her down. She then condescendingly tells me I have to come around in I kid you not the rudest most condescending tone. I went to the window and asked for a King or a different double queen to which she responded this hotel doesn't have Kings. Implying they don't have Kings at all at this hotel. We've been coming here for 8 years, we've stayed in a normal King room before. Then she said the only Kings they have are a suite so I paid the $75 upgrade. I wouldn't have minded paying for the room and having Hotels.com resolve the issue If she wasn't so unkind. It's such a shame we love coming here but I guess we'll have to switch hotels. read more

Nice stop on our trip south. Clean rooms. Service was friendly. Located in the heart of downtown. Rooms are spacious with a mini fridge, fee parking, free WiFi and surprisingly wood floors. Haven't seen that before. Some odd items- hot tub needs a 30 minute warm up time. So if you are going to hot tub, plan accordingly. The breakfast buffet was nice but kept having trouble with the coffee machines so I decided to make coffee in the room. Turns out that coffee wasn't very good either. So you have to get coffee somewhere else. Otherwise all was well. I would stay here again. read more

Mammoth was booked and when dingy joints like EconoLodge and Motel 6 charge $100+, you know it's time to hunker down at nearby Bishop where the rooms come cheaper AND better. I like booking my hotels at sites such as Expedia or Orbitz (look for online coupons-- they usually have $25 off 2 night stays) and found a queen bed room at Comfort Inn for about $75 a night. When we go there, Caleb told us we were in a smoking room. After realizing we wanted a non-smoking one, he upgraded us to a suite. Sweet, a suite! The suite was extremely spacious, not much in terms of decor or designer toiletries, but the amenities were very clean, the pillows firm, the TV functional-- no major complaints. Because the room faced Main St., the trucks/big rigs that drove by were a bit loud, but after a whole day of bounding around the slopes, who really cares. The best part of breakfast was the waffle maker. YUM. The fruit (apples and a lone orange) was kind of squishy. They had the staples (coffee and tea) and some hardboiled eggs. Would stay again, even if it means a 40 minute drive up to Mammoth. read more

Comfort Inn is a good hotel to rest for the night. They are right on a main road which is a good and bad thing. Good because it's easy to spot driving through town and it is well marked so hard to miss. Also, only a block away from Eric Schats Barkery which is always a plus. So, it is right next to a main road so if your room is closer towards the road you will definitely hear all the semi-trucks and all other vehicles going by. I would recommend trying to get a room further back on the hotel. The staff was helpful and checkin was good. The price is okay. I felt like it was just a bit on the high size but I think next time I will shop around for something not on the main road. I dont mind a bit of a walk or drive. The room was clean and toiletries were good. There was lots of hot water. Becareful because I think they are on a tankless water heater so the water is piping hot. Always mix it with the cold water. Continental Breakfast starting at 6am to 9am, I think. But I am a sucker for free breakfast Haha. It is good? It's a free continental breakfast! Not a 4 Star Michelin restaurant haha. But it will get me my calories for breakfast and a good start for the day. They have fruit and a variety of selection, that quite frankly can be okay. I do really like that they have lament floors that look like wood and that was actually pretty nice. I think they were lament or pho-wood. I dont know the terminology haha. But it was better, instead of carpet. I think most hotels should go that route because it felt cleaner that way. My experience here was a good one. If you need a good hotel Comfort Inn is a safe bet. On 9/14/20 we arrived to check into the Comfort Inn, Bishop, CA. With the Corna Virus, we were directed to a side window at the entrance. A telephone was next to the window with a note to pick it up to let someone know you were waiting. No hand sanitizer or anything next to the telephone, I just thought this was rather strange. Of course it was a bag breakfast which was not very good, I'd urge you to go someplace else for breakfast. The room was clean and neat, but it was very very noisy all night long. You could hear all the big trucks on Hwy 395 all night long, then the fridge and AC on/off all night....so much for sleep. They need to put in double pane windows, that might help a little. Then of course we were on the ground floor which I requested and it seemed like the gym must have been above us. Someone walking all over the place, I don't see how they could have possibly been walking that much if they were in a room. I have stayed here a few times. The rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. Make sure that you get a room towards the back of the hotel. This hotel is right next to a stop light on 395, so you hear that trucks breaking as the come to a stop all night. The rooms I stayed in did not have a microwave or fridge. For a $90 room I would expect to have these. On weekends like Mule Days, the rates go through the roof. The hotel is close to several restaurants. The staff is pretty friendly. The breakfast is a step above continental, they have the make your own waffles which most Choice hotels have. They have WIFI that has pretty good speed. If you need parking for a semi or travel trailer there is a city lot around the corner. This is one of the nicest hotels in Bishop. I will continue to stay here. read more

First off I want to start off by saying my family ALWAYS choose CHOICE hotels to stay. But after yesterday 7/30/2020 I will NEVER choose the BISHOP CA location! First off at check in, CHRISTY , the front desk clerk, was so DAMN rude and so DAMN unprofessional! She was so bothered when asked simple questions such as when breakfast was being distributed. Her ATTITUDE is HORRIBLE and should not be in customer service! Then there is the POOL! OMG!! Keep in mind we ONLY stayed for the POOL after traveling for 5 hrs with 2 Hot kids. Please stay away from the pool unless you want toxic MOLD ! This pool should be shut down ASAP! OSHA and the health department need to be on this! I don't think this pool has been cleaned for a while! . We called to the lobby and asked for a refund , went down to the office and Christy blew up , saying she was gonna call the cops. Really? This hotel was clean and imho followed good COVID protocols. The staff was nice enough too. But the reason for the poor rating is I don't feel the staff is honest. I had to stay there due to a snow storm. At check out the next day the clerk assured me the roads would be closed for at least another day and that the hotel was almost booked for the night. With nowhere else to go, I paid for another night the roads reopened at 3:30 that afternoon and the hotel refused to convert my rate to a 1/2 day rate. I really wish I could write a better review for this hotel. Initially it was nice - the room is recently redone and it was clean. Good lighting and a nice breakfast. But this is where it became weird. First off was you can smell trash outside of our room. That was unpleasant. Second we were on the top floor and the room 3 doors down placed about 30 items of laundry on the railing next to the stairs. This was really weird to have wet laundry like that and the hotel staff did nothing to have it moved. The third thing is my biggest issue with this hotel - there was NO hot water for our showers. We called down to the desk and about 30 minutes later they did send up an engineer. He said that the water tank serviced multiple rooms. When you would turn on the water it would be warm for a few minutes and then go cold. We weren't able to take showers and no offer was made to use another room or even offer a discount on the price. In addition, the maid told the engineer that this is a common problem for this and a few other rooms - which means the hotel KNEW about this issue and rented the room anyway. When your in Bishop, if you want hot water, choose another hotel. read more

I like that they gave out lil baggies for breakfast but I didn't like my my sheet had a blood stain and when I called to have them change it they couldn't because of covid. They couldn't enter the room which I can appreciate for safety but maybe make sure it's clean before I enter so I didn't have to go through that. I had just finished a 12 mile hike and a long drive. We paid $154 for this room. The check in was weird. The woman at the desk was clicking and clicking and clicking. I was going to ask her if she was playing solitaire. It took what felt like forever. The parking lot is so tight! Just another 6 inches of width and we could have opened the car doors. Like most motels and many nice hotels, we were accompanied to sleep by the roar of the air conditioner. Some would call it white noise, I call it loud roaring. When it shut off, which was about every minute, there was a faint, unbearable beeping coming from the room next door. Add the romping around noises from another room, and it was not a restful night. On the plus side, everything seems clean and the towels are nice. I don't normally stay at Comfort Inn and I will not return.
