The pathways along the rooms is a tiled floor, so when they push the carts for room service you get to hear the click black click clack click clack all day long if you are trying to catch up on sleep. We stayed at this Best Western in Bishop after staying at several other Best Western hotels during our road trip, and unfortunately this was by far the worst experience. The first impression wasn't great. The front doors to the lobby were dirty, and the entryway leading to our room smelled strongly of urine. There was also dried dog waste that appeared to have been there for some time. Our room had ants, which was disappointing, especially considering the nightly rate of $232. The breakfast was also below expectations. The eggs were runny, the sausage was overcooked, and the coffee was some of the worst we've had during our trip. The biggest disappointment was the customer service. Ben at the front desk was rude and condescending, which made an already disappointing stay even worse. After staying at numerous Best Western properties on this trip, we know the level of quality the brand is capable of. Unfortunately, this location fell far short of those standards. Stayed one night while headed home. This Best Western seemed to have been a Motel 6 or something equally sub par in the past. The room were drab and nothing interesting. I'm surprised it was rated an overall 3 star, it is definitely 2 star category. The breakfast was fine though like others in the comments stated - the eggs were terrible. The waffle was good and the yogurt with toppings. Coffee was fine. The pro and con was that the AC. It keeps the room cool but is so damn loud which is nice because you also can't hear your neighbors having sex. The one thing this hotel needs to work on. As they allow dogs, which is great, please create a place for them to pee and poop. As it is now, you have to walk them where the cars are parked and all there is - is dirt and rocks and very little space for them to do their business. How about take a small portion of the parking lot and create an enclosure with fake grass that can be hosed down and have little poop bags? Because the hotel does such a poor job of no grass for the dogs, dogs poop along the area and leave the poop. This should really be addressed. It's frustrating. read more

We notified staff that we (myself, husband, and teenage son) would be arriving after midnight and they confirmed that would be no issue. However, the hotel staff changed our room from a 2 queen bed room to a 1 queen bed room. We were told they weren't sure why the room was changed, but there were no other rooms available. We slept sideways on the one bed. I followed up in the morning to see if we could receive a partial refund or some sort of remedy, as I pre-paid for the two bed room. I was told the manager would call me. A week passed with no call, and we were passing back through Bishop , so we stopped in. The staff told me we had just missed the manager and expect a call in a couple of days. However, we never received a call. I submitted a survey to Best Western expressing my disappointment. I did receive a response, but it was only an apology for the inconvenience. No offer of even a partial refund. read more

If you're heading to Mammoth to ride all day and just crash at night, this place is a solid budget-friendly option. Around 40-45 minutes to slopes, if departing early AM with no snow chains. Expect room with all the basic necessities, including microwave and mini fridge, perfect if you meal prepped to save money. Even so, you're surrounded by food options within walking distance, including Eric Schat's Bakery. Front desk attendant was friendly and welcoming, helpful with orientation and greeted everyone good morning walking in for breakfast. At check-in, we had the option to choose between an upstairs or downstairs room. Downstairs made it convenient for loading boards, right next to FREE parking spaces. Staff was accommodating to provide additional amenities, such as extra towels and lotion. House keeping only upon request the night before. Complimentary breakfast starting at 6:00 AM. The breakfast area was packed with snowboarders on the dot, added to the vibe. Hot omelette and sausage, cereal, fruit, yogurt, muffins, and hard-boiled eggs. Great to fuel up for the mountain. Lady was quick to refill hot foods. There's also refreshing citrus water to quench your thirst in the lobby. That said, few things to be aware of. While the main room itself was clean, the shower area showed some wear, especially around the caulking where you could see mold. The showerhead also sits low - if you're over 6 feet tall, it's going to feel tight. The biggest downside is the thin walls & floors. You don't hear much street noise, but you absolutely hear people... every footstep, every toilet flush, rolling suitcases, and late-night arrivals. If you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs. Can hear people coming in around 11 PM pretty clearly. 3.5 stars: Great if you value convenience, affordability, and friendly staff. The reservation said it was pre paid... It was not I booked a room with queen beds... They're more like doubles, if that Was the room clean... Not really. Floors looked liked they haven't been cleaned. It was a ground floor room and it was windy. There is about an inch and a half gap under the door I would think twice before booking here. Booked a room for just one night before heading to Mammoth, so it was a very quick stay. Arrived around 8pm on a Friday night and there wasn't too much parking left. Maybe only 2-3 spots from the main lot. Not sure if there's more parking in the back. Check-in and check-out process was a breeze. Both employees were super friendly and professional. They ask for your car plate number to ensure your car good. The room itself was nothing more than you want from a very basic motel. The bed didn't have bed bugs, the bathroom was clean, shower pressure was nice (although the shower head is a bit low for tall people), the TV worked, the blackout curtains were effective, the electrical panels worked fine. We were only there to sleep one night so we didn't need it to have anything more. Breakfast starts at 6am, which is super convenient since we needed to leave super early for the slopes. Basic complimentary hotel food options, but the lady maintaining it, Maria, was the most adorable, friendly, and lovely person. She was attentive and on it with helping people out. She's so great. Good hotel option around the area if you don't want to pay too much to stay at Wayfinder or Cielo and not go super cheap and stay at a sketch motel/inn. read more

I use bestwestern often throuout the country and stayed at this location multiple times. Mostly just in and out stay. Nightmare started when the employee made a mistake and charged me more. I got blamed at their mistake, lied on, faulsly accused on harassing them by calling ( called only twice. Once to inform the wrong charge. 2nd to confirmed the refund). 2 weeks passed and no refund showing. Bw Corporation cannot do anything about the refund since every location is owned by individual. The manager is a hypocrite and imagine other employees trained by her. I understand this location does not care about their customers and would not mind loosing one customer. Hotel rooms are nicer than expected, appears its been nicely remodeled not to long ago. Plenty of parking and appears to be secure and safe. The bed is very comfortable but the pillows were very flat and uncomfortable, the AC unit is very loud. Rooms come equipped with a microwave and small refrigerator that never seems to get cold. I had a younger lady help me at the front desk and she was horrible! Not very friendly, took forever to located my reservation and didn't tell me where my room is located, wifi password, breakfeast time, checkout time ect. As long-time Best Western Diamond Members, we stay at Best Western properties frequently and are very familiar with brand standards and expectations. Unfortunately, our repeated experiences with Ben at the front desk have been consistently disappointing and unprofessional. We have had three separate encounters with Ben over the course of several months, and each interaction followed the same pattern: no greeting upon entering the lobby, a dismissive attitude, lack of eye contact, and an overall tone that made us feel unwelcome. On our first visit, we requested a slightly early check-in, something we routinely pay for and have been accommodated with at many Best Western properties. Ben immediately said no, without explanation. After we calmly explained that we always pay for early check-in, he reluctantly provided a room, clearly displeased, handed us the keys, and returned to what he was doing without another word. The second visit was nearly identical--the same cold demeanor, the same resistance to early check-in despite payment, and the same lack of basic courtesy. Our third and most recent visit was especially frustrating. After returning from a long day, we politely asked for bottled water, which Diamond Members typically receive daily. Ben responded curtly that water is only provided at check-in and told us we could purchase bottles from the refrigerator instead. When we clarified and asked again politely, he flatly refused. The issue was not the water itself, but the tone, delivery, and unwillingness to provide even basic customer service. By contrast, other staff members at this property are outstanding. Amber, in particular, has checked us in multiple times and is consistently kind, welcoming, professional, and attentive--everything hospitality should be. The breakfast staff are also a pleasure and create a positive start to the day. Ben should not be placed in a guest-facing role. His demeanor and approach are not aligned with Best Western's service standards, especially for loyal Diamond Members. I hope this review reaches management and is taken seriously. Best Western Bishop From the moment we checked in, it was just a not good experience. My wife booked the room on Expedia. She specifically looked for a pet friendly establishment, this came up in the search results with no caveats. So she booked a suite for us and our pet. Upon check in, she was told since we had a pet she could not have the suite. My wife showed him the reservation on Expedia, and she was rudely told, "That's not the hotel. That's Expedia." My wife looked back at him and pointed out that nowhere said anything about not having a suite with pets. When she said pets, he then asked her rudely, "how many pets do you have? You are only permitted one." Which also was not listed anywhere. We were traveling from PNW back to SoCal. We had her truck and were towing a storage trailer. We were told trailers were not permitted in the parking lot, unless we could fit into a single space. Once we got to the room, we dropped a water bottle, and when I went to clean it up with a towel, it came up black and dirty. Attached are the pictures of the corridor leading to our room, the dog run, which has not been cleaned or pet waste removed from the bin, and the strange clump of mystery hair under the bench, and a video of me wiping the supposedly clean floor. We travel a lot. And we have stayed in a plethora of hotels, but this is a first for us. This room, with Expedia discount, before tax, was approximately $225. This is the type of cleanliness and lack of service you would expect from a Super 8, not a Best Western. read more

I travel back and forth to So Cal on 395 often, so I try to stay in many places to find finally those couple of right places to stay on my next trip where it is pleasant, especially clean and well kept. I would also say, as good a price as possible. This trip I was almost home on my way back. I just didn't want to travel the mountain roads at night. The snow had been melting since we'd just had a week of warm weather, all after a particularly long cold winter. This night the air chilled sooner than expected...traveling with icy roads at night, isn't my idea of a nice easy night time drive, so I stayed the night. I picked Best Western after asking 2 strangers where they would stay. They were residents. Both persons said The Best Western was cleanest and pleasant. I only have one negative for the room. The privacy curtains would not close in the middle. I had to put the rolling desk chair up against where the curtain comes together to keep from being seen in the room. Also, on the sides of the window, the curtain did not cover the windows to the edge. Anyone passing could clearly see into the room, with full view of the bed pillows and anyone seated there. I purposely went out and looked what I could actually see from walking by my room. So glad I wasn't too tired to notice! Other than that issue, everyone was pleasant and helpful. I did not complain except about the curtains. The room was great, the bed still comfy, wonderfully clean. While I did not eat the generous breakfast provided, it smelled great and was very popular. In the room they provided Wolfgang Puck Coffee. Very nice tasting coffee actually! The Best Western Motel was a bit steep in price, but it was fishing time, rivers overflowing their banks, beautiful green valleys, and more wildflowers than I have seen in many years past! A beautiful time of year. So, I guess the price was warranted especially on a Saturday evening....With the exception of the curtains. It was late for me and I didn't wish to pack back up and change rooms. read more

I enjoyed my overall experience here and would recommend staying at this Best Western for anyone who plans to stay 1-2 nights. Not only is the customer service nice, but the location is convenient. The room was spacious, the TV quality and volume was excellent, and the area is quiet. A good spot for someone who just need rest from traveling. There is an outdoor pool and spa that is open to those in the parking lot and not exposed to the public. Safe for families. The pool and spa do need to be cleaned, but was clean enough to go in for the late afternoon. Temperature of the pool was cool, and lots of seating area to tan or rest. There is a spot for BBQ-ing and a small kitchen area on the opposite side where you can clean fish or prep whatever meal you want to put on the grill. That small kitchen is stainless steel and can accommodate those who enjoy fishing or barbecuing. If you are a sensitive sleeper like myself, I recommend booking a room on the top floor. The people upstairs were either heavy steppers or the ceiling is just thin. Also, though there is air conditioning, it is loud even at the lowest setting. It does keep the room cool, and if you choose to dry your bathing suit and towel in the room, you will smell it. As far as breakfast, it is your standard continental breakfast, but more than just muffins and fruit. You get to make waffles and pancakes, toast bread, eat boiled eggs, yogurt, fruits, and cereals. I recommend this for quick breakfast or to feed a large family. It is walking distance from many of what the city of Bishop offers and if you choose not to walk, driving is a quick drive up the street to all eateries. read more

It's hard to get a read on this from the outside road as you pass by because all you see is the big BW sign. Apparently they went through a little remodel not too long ago and the results are a tidy, crisp and clean look. A very popular trend these days is carpet removal which makes so much sense. Feet cold? Put on some socks! Very good usage of space in getting the most out of what is there to work with. Employees were very attentive and helpful and the place is very quiet. All in all, one of the better if not best places to stay going through or exploring Bishop. Well played Best Western. I shall return. read more

I had an older review over a few years old with less stars, but they've improved the rooms since then. It is time to update y review. They get one more star now. They now have a decent room that matches the Best Western Standard. You've seen one, you've seen them all. This one has a breakfast, HD TV with Showtime app, great sized room with king bed. Standard size toilet. Beware! My shower head was a jet engine that almost took my skin off! As for the bed itself, it was below average in comfort. I didn't sleep very well because the bed was very worn out. I've stayed in other places in the area and if they had better beds for the price, there would be one less star on this review. Finally, I couldn't breathe and we gathered our things, left our trailer, and come down to Bishop to stay for two days at the Lodge. I had to engage in a debate with the office over not receiving any of the TV channels. They said someone would call me but I fell asleep before the call came through. Also very low water pressure and no jacuzzi, as advertised. The next morning I sought a rebate from the $239.00 figure I was quoted. As we are driving up to the lodge we got a call from Best Western that our room is no longer available. At the same time we received a message from booking.com to enjoy our stay. We drove to Best Western (we were 2 minutes away when they called) and the two front desk personal said there was nothing they can do, they are overbooked now and have dirty rooms that are not ready! Reserved a king at this pet friendly hotel only to be told they don't have those rooms available for travelers with pets once we showed up. I thought this particular motel was quite nice. I've stayed at a number of different Best Western's from time to time, and this one seemed to be a cut above. I think it is probably deserving of a "Plus" designation, and I'm wondering why that is not so. They offer a very nice breakfast, and one of the "Plus" locations that I recently stayed at was only offering "grab and go" breakfasts. The look of the place seems a little strange, as the walkways in front of the rooms are enclosed and covered. I presume that is to offer shelter during inclement weather, so that is actually a big plus. Everything there seemed to be neat, clean and well maintained. The motel is also very centrally located in the center of town, so it is convenient to many of the town's shops and restaurants. read more

We recently stayed there and enjoyed the clean room and nicely folded towels which looked inviting when we checked the bathroom. The staff was nice and friendly and it was quiet at night. The room had a large tv which was easy to use and the free breakfast was very good. Pool looked nice but we didn't have the time to use it. Schatts Bakery is down the street, it's definitely worth the stop and there's a bar b que place across the street. As of this writing, the cheapest gas is at the Native American owned station on Line St., not far from Best Western. read more

We were able to get into here during a big rain storm and were thankful for the availability. They have some pet friendly rooms (which we stayed in). It was on the first floor with nice hardwood floors. The room was very clean and modern looking. They provide dog treats to those with pups. The sign is a little hard to see from the main road, so be on the lookout. During COVID (10/2021), they provided some bagged to-go breakfast. California is wide open so they should do away with this and switch back to the old breakfast style. Staff were really nice. read more

This is the worst hotel I ever have stayed at. Spiders everywhere! I couldn't sleep that night. I woke up my husband to kill a spider 2xs above the bed and that's when I called front desk and we couldn't change rooms because they were sold out.. I should've slept in the truck. I contacted corporate and the manager and housekeeping said there wasn't any spiders upon check out? They are definitely liars!! Grown @$$ adults lying!! Really.. I took pictures.. Arrived late in Bishop after a long drive from Long Beach to a hot King room with two cracker box sized pillows. I expect at least three or four king sized pillows in a hotel room with a king size bed. I asked for more pillows and they didn't even have those. I had let the hotel know that I would be arriving late, the least they could have done is go to the room to make sure that the AC has been turned on so that the room is comfortable for my arrival. It was 106 in Bishop that day. This should be part of their protocol. The next morning I needed ice for my cooler and they didn't even have that available from the attendant manning the breakfast window. I understand that they can't have their ice machines in operation, but I should be able to get some from the front desk or from the person attending the breakfast bar. This was a $50 experience, not a $200 experience. I expect more from a Best Western! read more

Pick another hotel The good news is that there are plenty of options here in town. My mom is 91 years old and we reserved a handicapped room. It only does it have a tub that is difficult for her to step over but there is no vertical bar on the wall at the edge of the tub/shower to be able to grab onto when she was getting in and out of the tub. The only vertical bar is over in the corner and cannot be reached while entering or exiting the tub. Pretty dangerous for anyone who needs support. I am pretty sure that this room would not pass an ADA inspection. Adding insult to injury Michael at the front desk has no sense of solution or customer service. I'm pretty sure he idolizes every villain in every Harry Potter movie he has ever seen and strives to do his best to bring all of his anger and bitterness to the office. I cannot imagine ever staying here ever again especially with this level of customer service. The Krylon spray paint peeling off the shower curtain rod is an especially nice touch. I think we should've booked at the Motel 6 next door. If you're not paying for customer service it's easy to have zero expectations. Michael made it a point to make sure we were aware that our expectations of customer service and civility were vastly inflated. If you were looking to meet up with a dark soul ready to bark orders at you after a long drive, he's your man. I am guessing that he has an application in at the DMV here in town where his real talents can be put to use. Truly awful place to stay. So many issues! First when we made the reservation we paid extra to check in at noon, per the Best Western site. When we arrived there a bit after noon, the surly receptionist told us it wasn't till 1:00. Sounds like a small thing but we had planned on getting into the room at noon. We came back at 1 and were given a room down a gloomy outside hallway that fronted the main street of Bishop. I guess we annoyed the receptionist. The room was depressing and it smelled. And the window was fixed to only be able to be opened an inch. The room itself was pretty much ok. But the bathroom was so small you had to squeeze in and try to shut the door behind you. And the light switch was on the wall by the toilet so you couldn't turn on the light before entering. The air conditioner sounded like a 747 when it ran and of course it goes on and off all night. Fortunately that sometimes drowned out the noise of the traffic going by, trucks and motorcycles all night. And there must have been elephants marching above our room; we heard them many times during the night. Walls are pretty thin. I believe you could stay anywhere else in Bishop and be happier. read more

We had a very nice stay at the BW Bishop Lodge. From the fast and friendly check in we were quickly settled into the comfortable king suite. The room was huge, with a separate tv lounge and wet bar. We had brought our meal, so were able to relax, eat, and watch a movie on one of the many the cable channels offered. The bed was extraordinary, extremely comfortable and nicely made up with fresh linens and new pillows. Aaahhhh- a great night's sleep. In the morning we appreciated the extensive choices available in the breakfast room- fresh fruit, yogurt, gourmet muffins, and the hot, fresh scrambled eggs that Maria replenished frequently. Although our visit to the Bishop Lodge was just one night on a long road trip, it was our favorite. We will come back to enjoy the beauty of the Bishop area, and the quiet comfort and lovely hospitality of Ben (front desk), his Mom, and family. Many Thanks! read more

Great place to stay in Bishop. The outside is a bit outdated but overall the room was great. They recently updated. The bed was better than many hotels and rooms are spacious. The sink area is updated and the shower/tub combo but it's still a bit old school. The room was very clean and smelled nice. The AC worked very well. Be sure to confirm where your room is as you can drive your car and park very near it. There is no elevator so be sure when you make your reservation if you need a downstairs room to ask for it. Bishop is a travel through town and hotels sell out every night all year if you're thinking about needing a room here be sure and book it a few days in advance. The front counter customer service person was very friendly and helpful. There are plenty of places to eat within walking distance. We will stay here again!! read more

Who: Husband, myself and our 2 dogs. When: Friday November 24, 2017. How long: One night The good: Reception staff was friendly and cracking jokes with us. Room was recently remodeled and had a great modern look. The bad: Each Best Western location is a franchise. This location charges $20 per pet, per night. I could see that being a thing if the room was carpeted or if the pet does damage. The rooms have wipe-able floors, and unless you leave a dog by themselves (which per the pet agreement you can't), they really can't get into much or destroy anything. They force you to have a 2 queen bed room, and it must be downstairs. Our original quoted price of ~$170 jumped to $210. Nowhere on any website did we find the pet price or the condition of a 2 queen room. The designated pet potty area is in the back of the property and isn't really a "pet space" it's just the landscaping of dirt/grass between the trees. Due to the space of the 2 queen beds, a small square table seemed awkward and bulky squished up by one of the beds by the front door. The ugly: Nothing was absolutely horrid. Overall: Comparatively, I don't think we will stay here again due to the pet fee, and other requirements. It's not a bad hotel, and we had a good stay. Parking was semi-limited but we were able to park right by our room, which made unloading the 2 dog crates and our stuff easy. read more
