I had a screw in a tire. I went to Tire Kingdom and Firestone, both had at least, a 3 hour wait. I finally went to Universal Tire & Auto. I asked the nice lady at the counter, if they had time to repair the tire. She said to pull in the second bay area and they would get to it. I pulled the car in. Within a minute, a young man named Jordan, came over and immediately began to jack up the car and remove the tire. After a few minutes, the tire was fixed, inflated and mounted. Faulty repairs and scare tactics, and intentional damage done to vehicle to add erroneous repairs Brought my 2007 Audi A7 in for auto brake and adaptive cruise control diagnosis. No check engine light was on. Universal tire and auto said I needed to replace engine oil separator and used scare tactics to force the repair. They claimed this would also fix the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and auto brake. Spent $1714.85. Picked up vehicle. Check engine light was on. Brought car to shop 6 times. Each time claimed it was fix. Left, within 20 minutes alert came back. One associate mentioned "clearing codes" and alluded to work not being done. Ubered each way, took time off work. Additional scare tactics, now they claimed the Intake runner had issues affecting ACC and auto brake and if I didnt repair ASAP | would cause permanent damage to my engine. $2639.63 spent. Picked up vehicle. ACC and auto brake still didnt work. Purchased my own fault code scanner and Intake Runner Valve code came on AFTER spending $2639.63 after Universal Tire and auto damaged the vehicle. Brought car back again, requested call from owner. Service manager John mentioned owner does not give his info out and wont call me directly. At Universal Tire & Auto -- I've been going there for over 3 years with at least 6 cars!!! Spent an insane amount of money and this last visit went to make sure the car was road trip safe! And have our AC checked in the back of our Honda pilot. They over tightened a bolt on our caliber and may have fixed the AC in the back.... Can't really tell. But definitely broke the AC in the front because I am soaked after a 20 min drive home at 5 pm. Driving from Florida to Colorado with the over tightened bolt caused the bolt to fall off and could have caused my caliber to freeze up or fall off (something like that, what the auto people in Colorado told me) And the Colorado mechanic fixed it for FREE wouldn't except a tip NOTHING and told us safe travels. Also told us it would not affect our drive but it messed up the inside of our rim pretty good and universal should do something to make that right! Talked to universal about all this What they were willing to do was a free diagnosis see what the issue was and quote us! On a problem we didn't have until we got the vehicle back after they "fixed" it. Addressed the rim none! This was the 3rd strike!!!! Took a Mazda In to be inspected before I bought it. They gave it a thumbs up. Was in there a couple weeks later with repairs and then found out ac has a leak with chemicals coming back in the car and needs fixed. Great inspection. Had daughters sensors fixed for low tire air. All tire pressure is good BUT the sensor is on. Mmmmmmm they just fixed that. Their way of making things right is giving you a new quote! Customer Beware! The mechanic did an oil change and inspected my vehicle. Told me I needed a new front passenger tire, for which discount tire said was correct. And told me my battery connection and cables needed replaced. Every time I turned my car off, the battery disconnected right after being told this. Went to Auto Zone and the gentleman simply tightened the screw and I felt like an idiot that I didn't check that first. I've been going to y'all on and off for nearly 6 years, but never again! Stop messing with people's vehicles! Raise your prices if you need to income like everyone else instead of costing others to spend unnecessarily. I had three small children with me that day, that was hard to get through without having to make extra stops because my car kept disconnecting from the battery. Due to Covid they have been offering free local pickup and dropoff of vehicles which is wonderful for a busy mom with a baby and a toddler. Update: After filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, Universal Tire and Auto replied with this lie: "The customer came to our business on 7/18/19. At this visit the customer let us know that he just purchased the vehicle (2001 Mazda Mx-5 Miata) and believed the tires had not been replaced since 2007. At no point did the customer request nor did we ever discuss valve stems and had we dealt with the valve stems or anything in regards to them, they would have been listed on our invoice - which the customer approved and signed." Okay, not only did we discuss valve stems, since they were ALSO from 2007 and dry rotted, but Mike, the owner of the shop, apologized when I called and admitted that they forgot to change them. Why would he apologize if they had done nothing wrong? Lastly, changing the valve stems when someone buys new tires is standard practice. You should never have to ask for your valve stems to be changed, it's a safety issue and the pieces only cost a few bucks and are supposed to be included for free with the tire change, hence why they don't show up on an invoice. The manager of Tire Kingdom confirmed this, and I'm sure if you call any tire shop other than Universal and ask if they change the valve stems when you buy new tires from them, they'll respond with an affirmative. If you get your tires changed at this shop, know that they won't change your valve stems unless you apparently ask them to, and if they forget and your old stems blow out, good luck. read more

I'm working here (Longwood)from out of town when I notice a terrible sound coming from my truck (Ram 3500). I though it might be the U joint. I had a extended warranty on the truck so I found that Universal was on the list of preferred vendors. They were less than 2 blocks from where I was working so I headed down there to see if they could fit me in. Nick immediately jumped in the cab while another guy rolled under my truck. They determined that it wasn't the U joint and said to leave it and they would get it up on rack. They did just that and within a few hours I knew I needed a new rear end. Mike, who has the patience of a saint, maneuvered his way through the ridiculous approval process of the extended warranty while they waited on parts. They kept me informed of what was going on, what the hurdles were, and never once complained when I walked down to check on things a dozen times a week. After 16 days, my truck was fixed. They did it in record time considering the wait time on parts and the fact that they're slammed at any given hour of the day. Their kindness is boundless and I would recommend them to any person that needs an honest mechanic. Thank you to both Nick and Mike, and everyone else that got greasy while fixing my truck. It was the day after Christmas, and hardly any tire repair places were open, and there was screw sitting in my right front tire making a weird noise and I had an important medical procedure early the next day. On my 3rd call, I was surprised to hear a friendly voice pickup saying yes, you can come over. They removed the screw and then tested it for leaks under more tire pressure. It held. There was also a 2nd nail I had noticed & again it had not penetrated enough to create a leak. I was so lucky that one of the mechanics said I should buy a lotto ticket. STAY AWAY ! This place has been in business for quite some time and we have used them in the past. However, I'm not even going to sugarcoat it we feel completely ripped off! Apparently when they can't fix something , the engine in your car becomes some kind of an experiment. Process of elimination. Meanwhile $800 later and four trips to the auto shop within one week, you are told we've done enough for you and we're not going to fix your vehicle unless you pay us more money. I remember back in the day this type of thing happened more so than not. But yes they do exist and Universal Tire is one of them ! We trusted they were going to fix the problem and not try to price gouge us but we were wrong. They obviously did not know what was wrong with the vehicle and tried to use the excuse that was 16 years old and these things happen. But a Chevy Trailblazer, if anyone knows about vehicles , will run and run as long as you take care of it as we have. They even tried to tell us that there was a manufactured part in the fuel system which we had actually replaced two years ago and have the receipts to prove it. That is when I realized okay , they're trying to take us. So steer your vehicle away from this place. There are many more honest auto repair shops out there and as far as the good reviews that they got those are obviously tire repairs and oil changes because I don't think they know a whole lot about engines. Gave one star due to the fact that the second or third time when they came to get the vehicle the actual gentleman that worked on it said he might have missed something whereas the manager said not possible. The customer service they received from the mechanic was very professional however the manager was very angry that we called on his off time and said we were disturbing him on his time off. I had been looking for a good mechanic in the Winter Springs area and passed by this location in Longwood several times. When my van started overheating at stop lights, and smelling of gasoline I knew I needed it fixed! The mechanics and owner here were fast, helpful, and honest. The lobby was clean and kid friendly, they even offered sodas and chips, which was s big hit with our three little ones! The van was quite a pricey repair, as it was found to be the fuel pump and the fan assembly was broken, but the owner was able to offer us a credit card to help with the cost, as we were Home Depot card holders- and it went through the same bank for approval of $700! That helped out immensely! The work was completed in an afternoon, it only took around 4 hours. When I went home, my dash lights weren't working, and when I called to tell them the next day, a Saturday- they said I could bring it back on Monday (since I was out of town that day.) Thankfully it was just a blown fuse, which they replaced free of charge! That's great customer service, in my opinion! We will definitely be returning here for our car care needs! read more

Universal Tire and Auto in Longwood should not be in business. I agree completely with Cristine G's review from Dec. 2020, and it is shocking how similar my situation was to hers. I should have read the reviews before bringing my car in. They are undoubtedly the most incompetent and unprofessional repair service I've ever experienced, and I'm talking over 50 years of having cars repaired. I brought an older, classic car in for routine servicing and a brake and transmission leak I was experiencing. I specifically asked them if they knew how to work on older cars. They absolutely assured me they were. After a couple of days, they told me that both the brake and transmissions systems needed new master cylinders. The price for both went from $1600 originally to over $2600. Okay, I thought; it's an old car and things go wrong. As the car is in excellent, near competition condition, I told them to please not leave the car out over night. They assured me they would bring it in overnight if they weren't working on it. A week later they called and said it was ready to be picked up. I asked them if they were sure everything was fixed. They assured me everything had been fixed. When I picked it up and drove it out of the lot, the brakes were non-existent and the power steering was not working. I nearly pushed the brake pedal through the floor to get the car to stop before it rolled on to 434, and it took all my strength to turn the steering wheel (and I'm 6' and over 200 pounds). It was clear, no one had even test driven the car after it was "supposedly" fixed. I am really not making this up or exaggerating. Both problems that I had brought the car in to fix, problems that cost me over $2600 to repair, and problems I had been assured were fixed, were worse, actually worse, than when I brought the car in. They apologized and said they thought someone had test driven it. I agreed to leave it for them to fix both problems. To make a long story short, they eventually fixed the transmission problem blaming it on a "defective" repair part (likely they had ordered the wrong part), but could not fix the brake problem. I did some checking based on the part number they had given me for the brake master cylinder and discovered the part they had installed was not intended for my car. I confronted them with this and they claimed it was similar to the master cylinder they had taken out. They claimed that the "fix" for the totally inoperative brakes was to put in a rebuilt engine. I had had enough. I went to pick up the car and discovered it in terrible condition. Whether it had been left out overnight or not, I don't know, but they had not even bothered to clean it up a little. There were sap dropping on the hood, top and trunk that took me an hour to get off. There were filthy oil prints and smears all over the hood where someone had obviously been opening and closing the hood with greasy, dirty hands. As I have since discovered, the problem is not in the engine, but a routine "cam" problem with the brakes that I'm having done now. In short, if you need something, anything, more than an oil change, or air put in your tire (I wouldn't even trust them with replacing a tire) you should go somewhere else. But, DON'T GO HERE. Called in for the tires and got an appointment the next day and after the repair they checked everything else out for free and let me know I was good for X amount of miles. All the staff, from the mechanics to the front desk assistant, were extremely helpful and provided great customer service. The prices are reasonable and the service was timely especially for a Saturday. The owner himself was here and walked me through everything that would be needed for my car as well as the cost breakdown. The waiting area is comfortable with snacks and drinks for customers as well as a play area for kids. Extremely poor service here. I purchased a Groupon a couple of months previously, had the oil change done on my car and brought my wife's car in for the same. Sometime in between, the "rules" had been changed; now an appointment is required, and no longer can the Groupon be used without an appointment. I had called prior to bringing in the wife's car; nothing was mentioned about needing the appointment to get the same deal, or about the rules changing about using the Groupon. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. We bought 4 brand new tires and an alignment and after only 13,000 miles they were completely bald on 2 of the tires. When initially bought, I was promised a 55,000 mile warranty. When we confronted the manager (Mike) about the problem he was completely rude and instantly put blame on us without hearing the full story first. He was very disrespectful and not helpful in the slightest. He blamed it on not rotating our tires frequently enough when we were never informed to do so. He even stated "It is something we know to do in the industry" even though someone who has never worked in the industry is unaware and never informed. I stopped in to see if they can check out my tires and do an oil change, the person on duty asked "what you need" and I explained what I needed and the guy basically said "I'm not doing any oil-changes today" and said nothing else. Didn't really understand as there was only one other car there and another mechanic was looking for a leak in a tire, the other 2 were not doing a thing, BTW it was 2pm in the afternoon.
