The most unique eats in Magnolia! There's a large tortoise under the bridge, so see if you can catch a glimpse! Outside of the unique setting, the staff treat you like family and the food is spot on. Their breakfast is like a warm hug, I always leave full and happy. You have to get their pancakes! Why 5 stars? Because the Magnolia Burger really grew on me. --- --- --- Tree House Cafe has been a bit of a mystery to me, since you can't see it from the road. I imagined it might be way off the road and have an actual tree house for kids to play in. Instead, the restaurant is just on the other side of the parking lot, which you can see from 1488 and the property is not as large as it may seem. None of that is really relevant, as I was just picking up food to-go, but I just thought it was funny how far off my perception was from reality. I ordered the Magnolia Burger and thought it was a bit odd that it had a thin layer of something all around it. I'm not even sure what that something was, but I included a photo for reference. The bun was unique - it almost tasted like it was made of corn, but the menu says that it's sourdough. Either way, I enjoyed it. The banana pudding and the white chocolate macadamia cookie for dessert really hit the spot and were the ideal way to end the meal. We have been lucky enough to finally try the breakfast at Tree House. YUM!!! I LOVE the breakfast tacos! They're full of goodness and the tortillas don't taste like they came out of a package from the store. I HIGHLY recommend trying them. Now... the pancake sticks!!! These things are delicious y'all! Pancake and bacon... yes, please! I order these in addition to my breakfast tacos. I always have to get a togo box wherever I eat... and I take these togo. I can eat on them for at least 2 days! Food for the cost, the food quantity/quality, the time it took to get out the small amount of food that was served out, and overall everything.... They should get a 1. Let's start with customer service. Our waitresses seemed like veterans. And although they knew what they were doing, they were disgruntled about it. I tried to understand why they would be so irritable. But the crowd was manageable. And for the cost of the food, I'm sure the tip would be welcomed. Maybe it was because the cooks in the back were understaffed, and the food was taking so long. Either way, this is what management is for. And no managers in site. The turtles were a mere distractions but the longer you looked at them the more you wandered if they were being treated right. We stopped at the Tree House Cafe on a road trip through Texas and had a wonderful experience. You can see the tree house from the road, and have to walk through a short path in the woods, over the tortoise enclosure to enter the cafe. There are decorations to catch your eye everywhere like an old fashioned southern kitchen. We ate the EZ breakfast, which was eggs, sausage or bacon, and hash browns. We finally got around to checking this place out as we have driven by the entrance many times. I was a little disappointed as it's not actually a tree house, they're just hidden behind some trees. It's an interesting place & the food was pretty good! I tried a shrimp po-boy and my wife got a mushroom Swiss burger. It wasn't the best po-boy I ever had, but it's much less expensive than driving to Louisiana and it was pretty good. My wife said that her mushroom Swiss burger was one of the better ones in the area. As I said, the restaurant isn't actually a tree house, it looks like a small shack in the woods. There are pens with tortoises of various sizes and some tables outside, but it was rainy & humid so we ate inside. The prices were very reasonable! My wife also had a mimosa & I drank a Bloody Mary. A bit of a read but true, unfortunately: We have patronized Tree House Cafe since the opening as we have lived in the neighborhood for 15 years. In the past, we enjoyed a relaxed environment and enjoyed treating family and friends to the quaint atmosphere and good food. Sometimes birthday lunch for grandchildren, when they were little. Unfortunately, today's experience has ruined the possibility of returning visits and supporting this business, EVER!! A party of five, we were told they could offee us a booth with a chair at the end. ( in the pathway of the servers). I asked if we could sit in the side section and pull a smaller table to accommodate. We were told we could. As we began to move the table a rather large , sloppy, man came waving his arms nervously- loudly telling us " You can't do that"!!!I told him ( once he took a breath ) the hostess gave us permission and even cleaned the tables for us-- he was loud and other people were looking. We were so very embarrassed. I surrendered , yet he kept ranting and I voiced to him, I felt very unwelcome. We didn't know what to do. Do we sit? Should we leave? We wanted to leave but not create a scene, so we tried to adjust and get through the meal. I am hearing impaired and " read lips. " Throughout the meal, I noticed, he kept looking at our table and I saw the conversation as he relayed the incident several times, retelling the story to different employees. My family was unaware what was occurring. I was so upset I could not begin to eat what I had ordered. (Would he spit in my food? A couple who were finished, at a nearby table saw what was happening and offered their table as they were leaving. What a sweet gesture. He apologized to them???? Another couple who witnessed his behavior stopped me on the way out and told me they also would not be back. Someone from the "Nextdoor" forum informed me, it's not the original owners. I am also warning others on yelp etc... I don't who he was ?? The dishwasher??? Surely the owner of a new business wouldn't be such a horse's $&@! Rudeness is FREE all day long. No one needs to pay someone to be rude. As indiscreetly as I could control my voice , told him on my way out, I did not appreciate his treatment and HE is the reason I won't be back. It's a little hidden but of course it's a Tree House!The short little walk up to the restaurant really sets up the feel. They even have tortoise around the entrance.
