This place is as much a FEAST for the hungry as it is a VISUAL TREAT for the eyes! We ate here with my 94 year old mother who is walking impaired and we did not even hit a snag. She was in her wheelchair when we arrived but she walked on her way back to the parking lot and we cruised without incident. It took a while because there giant tortoise, variety of cats, tons of hilarious signs and general weirdness caused us to stop, laugh and wonder almost continuously. Be aware of the fact that they've become a noted destination in recent times because of dedicated notoriety on TikTok, Instagram and Facebook so wait times of a half hour to an hour are much more common than they ever were in the past. The breakfast menu has everything in it that a connoisseur could want but the Breakfast Taco's are their fame point. For lunch we tried their Po'Boy Shrimp Sandwich and it was delicious! Very filling. I got the Fish and Chips which was catfish and it was EPIC! The owner of the restaurant stopped by our table to check on our experience and we had a great talk with her! It added so much to our experience and yes, it is a woman-owned business which we support one thousand percent! We'll go out of our way to eat here now, every time we visit her and her family in Pinehurst. Just look for the Treehouse on FM1488! It's definitely worth the effort and any place that is this supported by locals has GOT to be good! read more

Wow! I came across this place on social media a couple of years ago but finally went today! I am sad it took me 2 years and I cannot wait to go back! I want to try everything on the menu!!! The rustic building set back a little bit into the woods is perfect! I absolutely love, love, love the look of this entire place. They have resident turtles! I love that! Definitely a unique place! My kids loved sitting outside and watching the tortoises. They have cornhole boards but they need to be replaced. I really enjoyed the french toast and mimosas. Our picnic table outside had tons of ants so that was pretty annoying trying to keep them out of our food. Needs a little face lift but overall really enjoyed the food, service and vibe. read more

Great food and waitress was nice but I think they forgot to bring our food. Took 50min to get our food and didn't get my waffle until I got the bill. I asked to cancel the waffle when I asked for the bill since I had already finished my food and took part of my wife's waffle but they insisted on just giving it to me to go. We've lived in the Montgomery/Magnolia area for the past 13 years and just now made it to Tree House Cafe for the first time. For the longest time I thought the restaurant was somehow in the treehouse that you can see from 1488, but it is not. Its in homey wooden building behind some trees and the hustle and bustle of the main thoroughfare. We came for breakfast, and it was an excellent comfort food breakfast. Our server was polite, happy and prompt. I had the breakfast sandwich ordered with sausage, over medium eggs and American cheese on Texas toast. It came with a side of hash browns. Other than the eggs being over easy and the yolks spraying all over the place, the sandwich was very tasty and hit the spot. I loved the hash browns. My wife ordered the Cheez E over EZ which was two over easy eggs over hash browns covered with American cheese. It also came with a side of bacon. My wife reported that she liked the dish, but wasn't as enamored with the hash browns as I was. We also ordered a 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy which turned out to be substantial. Neither of us really cared for this dish as it really needed some more seasoning. All in all, this was a meal that met expectations, and we are glad we visited. read more

We had brunch at Treehouse Cafe on 1488 this morning. It's always been good but today was different. Tiana ordered a piece of toast with an egg on top of it (forget what it's called) with a side of hash browns snd a water and I got a chicken sandwich. The waitress asked me if I wanted fries or maybe some onion rings and I said onion rings sound great. She also asked if I wanted a different type of bread and she recommended Texas Toast and I said that sounds great too. I also got a tea. The food came out and the egg was completely raw and uneatable. Our waitress never came back to check so we could tell her then Tiana said not to worry about it. When I checked out and the bill was more than $31 so I asked if she rang up the right one and she said yes and repeated our order. I paid and went back out to Tiana and told her it was $36 with tip. I didn't get a receipt but we both thought that was a lot for what we had so we went back in and got the receipt and that's when we noticed they up charged us for the Texas toast and the onion rings. That's totally jacked up! If you do that, you have to let the customer know ahead of time but she never said a thing. She also told us we were the second ones today complaining about the high prices. Be aware if you eat at this restaurant. They lost our business today! read more

I've been wanting to try this place, and came for breakfast yesterday. So glad we did. A word of caution if you've never been here: you can't really see the cafe from the road, because it's farther back in the woods. We drove past it the first time ( and yes, there's a big sign that said Tree House Cafe, but we still missed it, lol). It's a wonderful way to enjoy your meal in nature. We were running behind schedule on brunch, decided to check this place out near my cousin's house. Interesting concept, from the street you'll see a treehouse, vintage bus, parking lot, and trees. There's a walkway behind the treehouse and towards the restaurant there is a huge turtle, I think there's 2. There's people eating outside, and playing bean bag toss. We are new to the area and me husband wanted to check it out on a Sunday. It was busy but we got seated fairly soon. I an not one to complain but service was very slow. Food was tasty. My husband had the Magnolia Burger. I had the Bonfire Brioche BLT which was ok. I don't think I would get it again, it was messy and very bread heavy. The ambiance of the cafe is quirky and unique. Let me start by saying that this place is a vibe! It is kind of out of the way but worth the drive at least once. The décor is true to form and very rustic. The star of the show is the outdoor seating area with the tortoises and box turtles. There is plenty of seating and lots of shade to hide you from the Texas sun. We arrived after lunch but there was still a crowd so seating took a little bit but there is lots to look at to make the time pass. The staff was very friendly and greeted us warmly. Service to the table was average but not a standout for the day. I ordered a sweet tea and the wife had a mimosa which was good. As we ordered closer to the end of the day (3PM) the kitchen started running out of things like sweet tea and coffee. Be aware! My wife ordered the pancake sticks with hash browns and a side of scrambled eggs and I was talked into the Magnolia burger with fries and onion rings. The food arrived in an average amount of time. The pancake sticks were on point and cooked perfectly as well as the hash and scramble. You can definitely tell that breakfast is their wheelhouse. That being said, I was not a fan of the Magnolia burger. It is definitely a freezer patty and the fries and onion rings were out of the freezer too. I found the magnolia sauce was a loose bbq version that they concocted but was not the star of the show I had hoped for. The freezer food was a let down and taste was as expected. All in all, I would recommend this for a lazy morning and definitely only order the breakfast. Everything else is most assuredly bulk freezer fare and not worth the trouble or price. This restaurant has all the potential to elevate their menu if they would specialize and scratch cook their meals. Honorable mention was the price of beer. While I wasn't in the mood for one, the fact is was $12/beer left me with Houston Rodeo flashbacks! Total cost of the outing was $48 without the tip. read more

Came here on a whim, glad we stopped by! Breakfast and sweet tea were good. I heard their chicken fried chicken is awesome, so we will be going back for that. I heard someone complaining of the ambiance, but I think it just wasn't their vibe. It's got very rustic "small-town" vibes, which we very much enjoyed. Children and adults alike loved the tortoises that they have on the property. One of us got our breakfast late, so we had to share our food for a bit, but otherwise standard customer service. I found this place online and was immediately drawn to it. I had to see what it was about! I got in my car and drove 45 min to try out their breakfast. When I arrived and saw what the place looked like and walked inside and got a wiff of the smell of the food, I just knew the food was going to be delicious! I ordered one banana foster pancake, one regular pancake, a side of bacon, and the spicy hash browns. I had such high hopes, but...here's the thing: the only thing that came to the table hot, was the banana foster pancake. Everything else must have been waiting in the window for a while, because it was cold. I didn't initially receive my bacon. Had to remind them that I ordered it. Once you get there, you go through the woods and past the turtles to enter the restaurant. They will give you turtle food if you ask and then you can feed the turtles. This place could be a gold mine! It was created by someone with a love and passion for the business--it is in the woods on expansive acreage, and there they created a backwoods Louisiana Cajun swamp vibe (the door of a New Orleans police car is a give-a-way, as is the zombie with Spanish moss on it.) They replaced alligators with big turtles, and they do have a couple of tree houses on the property. It is quiet and peaceful just a few feet in from a busy road. I appreciate their patriotic vibe and their military discount. On a Friday night, this place should be rocking. There should be a fire in a fire pit and a local band should be playing, every seat in the outdoor space should be having a good time drinking reasonably priced beer and wine. But not really, it was pretty dead. Here is what I think is going on. The guy who built it (trust me, it was a guy) got older and is either retired or has passed. His family is still running it, but as maintainers. They are a little out of touch with what is popular now. A menu with no appetizers in 2024? The menu itself could have been copied off of Denny's -- no cute Cajun-themed food--Tabasco on the table but no Boudin, Cajun eggrolls or shrimp and grits. It lacks the culinary identity that would attract foodies. It also has very limited hours. Days go by and it isn't open when I go by--that is a killer for a restaurant. If the right person buys this place they could make a fortune. If the wrong person buys it they will knock it all down and put a Walmart on the land. Food review: The burgers were excellent. My daughter and I checked this place out because we had heard a few people brag on it. It is tucked in between trees, I was a little disappointed you couldn't check out the the treehouse in the parking lot nor the separate tree house as it's closed and only open for private events. We arrived around lunch time, it was crowded the dining area is cramped and has older furniture. I ordered just a plain kind of toast, egg, and bacon breakfast and my daughter had fries. She loved looking at the turtles and feeding them, and being out in nature was nice we moved out to the patio once we ordered because it was less crowded. Service was great and friendly staff. We heard about Tree House Cafe and heard so many good things about it that we had to try it out. When we pulled up, it brought back lots of childhood memories. So now 6 months later we came in and it was very busy. People were waiting to get tables. I was like wow, free food? Lol. We traveled over an hour to visit for my birthday breakfast only to leave disappointed and unattended. There is a few tables outside, which i thought oh great! We can eat outside. There was one couple eating outside while the inside was full. We were told there was a wait and waited outside. The tortoises are unkempt. I've been passing by the Treehouse Cafe for years and finally found the time to try it the other morning. The place wasn't too busy, and the service was quick, which was nice. The prices seemed pretty reasonable, though I think the drinks could be a little cheaper. Unfortunately, the salsa wasn't very flavorful, and the overall meal was not very tasty, which was a letdown since the place looked like a nice spot for meals. It's very cold out, so I didn't see any animals, but the other choice of decorations was zombies. Not sure if that's normal or just leftover from Halloween. The food and service was great. I ordered the Magnolia Breakfast and it was perfect. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the sausage; a little too greasy for me. Other than that, it was phenomenal. I went there today, Saturday, July 12th and Lisa provided excellent service and made sure we had everything we needed by checking up on us from time to time. What a fantastic find!!!! If you're driving by, you'll miss it! You see the treehouse, but not the restaurant! Which is the best part!! You walk down a path through the trees and come across the restaurant! There are tortoises on either side of the bridge you have to cross to go inside! We were greeted by friendly staff when we walked in! Despite the heat of summer, we chose to sit outside due to the fans! All the trees helped to block the sun, so we were fine!
