Food consisting of Ham and Cheese Croissant with chips and fruit cup, Enchilada Quiche, and Half-Half Turkey Sandwich/Soup and sides. Ordered what was advertised as the most-ordered dessert, Croissant Bread Pudding, to go. Food arrived quickly and sandwiches were fine, nothing extraordinary. The Bread Pudding, however, was a disappointment! Just a buttery soggy pastry with little sweetness and no flavor. Having lived in Louisiana and savored real Bread Pudding, this offering was a complete flop for me - pricey too. Well the owner or manager greets and welcomes every customer and she is super sweet! Very southern. I got the quiche, but wasn't wild about all the hash browns in it. Thought I was getting a different quiche, but didn't want to make a fuss at the wedding shower party and send it back, so I ate what was served to me. Others in the party got sandwiches and salads. I did enjoy the broccoli salad and the green salad that came with my quiche. The atmosphere is like a tea party. And don't forget to get a dessert. They all look wonderful. I got the Italian cream cake for my husband and I got the chocolate cake for me, both to go. The cakes were slightly dry, but I think if u nuke them for 20 sec they would be better. I am going to try the cobbler and brownie next time I go. They looked great. By the way, we went at 11am and there was no wait. We did reserve a table for 9 several days ahead. Been coming here for about 15 years now. The food has always been similar, at least what I've always gotten. Super fresh, tasty chicken salad and bread. The pasta salad is my favorite thing and the tortilla soup is good too. The Italian crème cake is literally to die for. Always a pleasure to have lunch here and staff recognizes us by now. My only regret about this place that I had not been here sooner. From the minute you walk in you know that it's going to be good. The white tablecloths and the chandeliers bring a peaceful feeling you walk in a little bit and then see a beautiful dessert cabinet with homemade desserts. I had never been here before, and the server was very patient and kind to me and helped me pick out my food. Which was very nice not to be rushed. I had the tuna salad sandwich with salad . Everything about this meal was fresh and delicious. I couldn't believe how fresh the spinach was. It looked like they had just picked it out of the garden. This is my and my parent's favorite tea house and stop for lunch. Everything we have tried is so delicious and fresh and Dad just loves the mushroom soup it's his favorite. I've loved Whistle Stop for years, which is why this past Thursday was such a disappointment. The service was poor. Several members of the wait staff, along with the owner, were sitting nearby eating lunch while the restaurant was full of customers who needed assistance. Our waitress barely paid attention to our table. She didn't check in, ask questions, or anticipate anything. We had to ask for everything. Drink refills, to place our order, dessert, and a to go box. She rarely looked at our table and made us feel like we were bothering her when we interrupted her lunch just one table away. Even more concerning, she repeatedly ate and then returned to serving customers without washing her hands, and the owner, sitting right there with the staff, seemed completely unaware or unconcerned. To add to the disappointment, the pie slices are noticeably smaller now while prices have gone up. Whistle Stop is not an inexpensive place to eat, and we expect much better service than what we experienced. Very disappointing. read more

This is a cute little place. We came for a baby shower and the service was very friendly. We were and to pick a dessert from the case and I took mine to go. Should have checked before I left because it was the wrong cake. It was a coconut cake but it was delicious one you got over all the coconut on top. I had a half sandwich on croissant and that was good. The broccoli cheddar soup was room temp. The cheese was not melted and the broccoli was lightly steamed. This is very different from any other broccoli cheddar soup I've had. The lemonade was good. The woman's bathroom refills slowly and you can't flush it until it fills fully. Such a great spot...popped in for a late lunch, 1pm'ish...they were hopping but with most tables sat and a few larger parties but I was greeted right away by the owner (Cindy) and sat very quickly at a table by the window (which I appreciated). Reviewed the menu asked some questions / suggestions and food was brought out as ordered...croissant club, cheddar broccoli soup, chips and a side of mixed fruit...simple BUT GrEAT FOOD DONE VERY WELL!! The menu is fairly basic in that it is a tea house - think salads, sandwiches, soups, and quiche. They have nice options and what makes it stand out is the freshness. I brought my mom here for an early Mother's Day lunch, since they are closed on Sundays. I think the "tea room" reference primarily refers to the type of food offered. The tea options available are iced tea (including raspberry flavored) for main courses, and a few hot tea options on the dessert menu. I had the raspberry tea unsweetened, which had a pretty subtle flavor, but was good. We both opted for soup and sandwich combos, which include a half sandwich, cup of soup, side, chips, and a pickle. They were out of their homemade bread (which is the honey wheat) so we both had croissants. She tried the chicken salad, and I had the egg salad. We also tried the broccoli cheese and tortilla soups, as well as the pasta salad and Greek-ish salad sides. The chicken salad was moist, but the chicken itself tasted like it had been cooked to the point of drying out. However, the egg salad was the best I've ever had--and I usually hate egg salad. I ordered it on a whim, and for once it panned out for me. The soups were good--the broccoli cheese had big chunks of broccoli instead of tiny bits like most places, so I really liked that. The pasta salad was lightly mayo'd and a little on the bland side, but not too bad. We had the yum yum pie for dessert. It has cream cheese, chocolate, whipped cream, and a tiny sprinkle of pecans on top. It was delicious and tasted like something you'd find at a family potluck (in a good way!)
