What a great company! I called in late summer and they sent an arborist, Pedro, to take a look at my trees, which were in need of pruning. He made up a work order for their crew based on our conversation and his helpful suggestions. Angela, a very pleasant and competent member of their team, called me from their office to set up an appointment at an appropriate time in October. She arranged with DOT to put up No Parking signs for their trucks on the day of my appointment. Nelson and his crew (5 guys altogether) showed up on time this morning at 7:45, and confirmed the work order with me before starting. They completely removed one tree, pruned four others and were done in less than 2 hours! They all seemed to be experienced, have a love and respect for trees and to enjoy their work. They were friendly, cheerful, efficient, respectful of my property and removed all the debris after completing the job. About two months ago, I was sitting in my house doing some reading when from the corner of my eye I saw a huge limb drop instantly, making such a loud sound, several neighbors came running out. This began our search in finding an experienced arborist to come look at our great big Mimosa Tree close to 70 years old on the front of our property. We met with a handful of arborist working for various tree companies in the LA area, and by far the one I trusted most was Nick with TreeCare LA. Not that the others were bad. It's just that Nick had a very detailed plan on how to help the tree and do our best to save it. A few tree companies suggested taking it down without giving it much thought. I wanted to give this tree every opportunity to thrive. Cost was secondary. Nick and his team of tree nerds, and I say nerds in the BEST possible way, came out to begin work on pruning and lightening the weight of the tree. However, after going up and starting the work they realized with the amount of cavities within the tree, it might be best to take the tree down. It was a hard decision for sure. I definitely lost sleep over it. Kind of like putting an old dog down. But I felt better about the decision, because they had put in the effort of going up and looking down on the tree as opposed to vice versa. To top if off, within one of these cavities, lived a very sizable bee colony which made the work impossible without a bee suit. So the team came out the next morning, bee suit and all, and coordinated with a bee keeper to show up and take the huge limb that the bees were living in, and then continued to take down the tree. I just want to thank Nick and his team for their hard work, for their knowledge and love of trees. We needed tree work done on our property we are renovating before moving in. There was a lot of untended growth amongst the trees and shrubs and there had even been a fire which affected the largest tree on the property. So excited to have found Nick and the Tree Care team. Nick came by for a consultation and I felt like I learned so much about tree health and what type of canopy restoration we might be able to achieve. We recently had 10 trees installed by a large nursery and it did not go well. The yard is over planted, the trees are planted too close together and the majority were planted too deep. Nick helped to allay my concerns and offered a long term plan of care helping me to understand what my options were. We discussed the options of rehabilitating the canopy of a tree that we very foolishly topped when we first moved into our house. Don't top your trees!!! Proper pruning and tree care is so much more beautiful than a sad and bluntly topped tree. The tree is looking so much healthier and happier just a few days out - and well immediately after it looked so much better. It's a completely different experience between having a cheap tree trimming service and having professional arborists that care about the long term health of your trees come. At no point did I ever feel like I was being pushed or upsold. We have multiple trees but only one was ready for pruning according to Nick, so we decided to check in on the rest of the trees at the end of the year. I never felt rushed and always felt like my concerns were addressed and considered. Nick is very knowledgeable and in this industry for the right reasons. The price is reasonable and well worth it to have your trees look like you live in a botanical garden. As for the day of service: Nick came and went over the job with his crew. The crew also excavated the areas around the bases of all the new trees that were planted too deep to get them to the right height and at the same time found and addressed girdling roots that were on every tree. These roots would eventually have killed our trees as the girdling wraps around the trunk and chokes it (not technical explanation but that's what it looked like to me!) Nick is the arborist I chose after much research and referral-seeking. He seems to be the most experienced, educated, qualified Certified Master Arborist perhaps in Southern California. I'm glad I chose Tree Care LA! I had made the unfortunate choice of purchasing a large ~17' Mesquite tree from a local nursery (Moon Valley). The roots were severely girdling the root ball. They had also planted the tree crooked and too low in the ground. By the time I contacted Nick, the tree was in a critical state of decline. Nick believed the tree would eventually die without drastic measures. He said the root girdling was the worst he had ever seen. The tree had lost a significant amount of it's live wood, and looked sickly. Nick thoroughly inspected the situation and gave me a range of treatment options. I decided on his recommendation to air-spade the root system to expose and unwrap the roots and position them radially. This was done in a delicate, surgical manner, so as not to injure the roots. At my request, Nick made a detailed report and gave me recommendations for continued care. A year later, the tree is starting to put out new growth and looks like it will survive. I can't thank Nick enough. Along with competent office staff and his certified arborists, Nick has the capability to handle the most dire of arboreal circumstances of any scope. Recently bought a home and inherited a giant Canary Island pine tree. The Tree Care LA team was quick to respond when I reached out to schedule an assessment. Nick paid us a visit soon after and happily answered all my questions about tree care (felt like a mini class in tree care). He sent over an estimate later that evening (cabling, trimming and thinning the tree) and scheduled the work a day or two later (was about two months after the initial visit). The team showed up on time and were a pleasure to work with. There were 6 total, 3 up in the tree to do the trimming and 3 down below to clear the debris. I hired TreeCare LA earlier this week to trim up my two elderly Brazilian Pepper trees and a very large White Sapote. Oscar and his team were absolutely superb, and I cannot recommend TreeCare LA enough. Oscar came out to survey the trees and make a plan of action. The White Sapote has grown very large, and they did a great job thinning it out and improving its long time stability. The Brazillian Peppers are delicate and required a lot of consideration to pull out dead/decaying limbs, while maintaining balance of the trees. They also uncovered a bird's nest while trimming and were mindful to leave it undistributed - you can tell that Oscar cares a great deal about his work. All of my neighbors have commented about how much better the street is after their work, and those who observed the work in progress were thoroughly impressed.
