Very cute atmosphere if you can get over a few pretty big issues. I run 5 Baja Style Taco Restaurants, I have been doing this a while, doesn't make me an expert but I may know one or two things. One thing I know is you cannot tell someone something is fish if it's shellfish. If it's lack of understanding by staff your entire job is to train them. Chips and Queso - ultimately were chips and a white béchamel sauce, minus flavor or seasoning. Short rib under seasoned by a lot. Yes I am French but for the love of god blue cheese sauce and chimi? Birria tacos tasted as if they had cinnamon and sugar on them. Yes, I know Birria contains cinnamon but a big fat no. Thankfully my husband is not classically French trained. Rice under seasoned, beans definitely as well. Slaw lacked any salt but ok. However , the one thing that I cannot look past! Ordered two fresh catch tacos. Specified fish right? Sure did because someone with a shrimp allergy definitely knows what they can and cannot eat. Take a big bite and they were shrimp. Immediate hives. Super fun. read more

Was craving a light dinner for our first night in ogunquit. Loved the ambiance. It definitely gave like a bougie treehouse vibe. Being a Saturday night I was happy that we were able to be seated practically immediately. Service was great. Attentive and didn't keep us waiting long. We started off chips and salsa and just wow .. the chips came out warm and so crisp, crunchy and had this flavor that had a little more depth to it than with just salt. The salsa was also fantastic.. so fresh and flavorful. My only dislike was that it wasn't much spicy at all but I'm sure you can ask for them to kick it up a notch. We loved the first order of chips so much we ordered a second batch. For my main entree I chose birria tacos.. they were soo soo soo amazingly good. Perfect place for happy hour! $8 margaritas which I really enjoyed. My kids loved the guacamole and chips. I think the tacos could have been seasoned better. I wasn't really impressed with them. OK food. The tacos were all good. The tortillas were a little thick and dry. The fillings were all fairly good. Queso chips and dip was disappointing. It came extremely hot and there was absolutely no cheese flavor. Just a white cream sauce. Chips were good, but mostly small broken pieces. If you plan to get drinks, stick with beer. The bartender plain out did not know how to make any drinks. All the margaritas were premade from a lemonade dispenser and any flavorings were all bottled syrup. You cant charge boutique mixed drink prices for mass produced premade stuff. Dont order a mojito. You will be very disappointed. $20 for 3 tacos. read more

After reading the reviews here, I knew we had to go to Treehouse. I was so bummed they weren't open yet on Tuesdays, though (Taco Tuesday!), so instead we went for Margarita Monday. We luckily got a table outside, so the ambience was perfect (even though I don't love tall tables). My husband & I split the guacamole (which tasted somewhat store bought, but I found a huge hunk of avocado, so I assume it's homemade) and 3 tacos. We got 1 Chicky chorizo (which didn't live up to my expectations) and 2 Burria (these were more like a quesadilla, but were DELISH). The rice & beans were basic but yummy. The margarita was perfect!! Our waitress was very nice, but the service was almost TOO fast. Our guac was brought out and then our tacos immediately after. I wanted to sit and enjoy the ambience longer! read more

Came here with a group of friends for a quick bite and really enjoyed our time here. The venue is really cute and trendy, plenty of seating, and a nice view of the Main Street. We walked in and were seated immediately which felt really lucky for a group of 5, especially as they don't take reservations here. Their menu is clearly labeled with Gluten Free, Vegan, & Vegetarian options. As someone with Celiac I felt really safe eating here and was really happy with the amount of Gluten Free options available to me. We shared the street corn dip "Esquite" as an appetizer, it was really fresh and delicious. I had the chicken tinga tacos for my meal and would recommend it! Terrible experience! Finished dinner and went to Treehouse for drinks. The hostess wouldn't seat us with our leftover pizza box. I tucked it on the floor under the wait bench. tl;dr armed with an approachable Mexican-fusion menu and a bevy of mixed drink options, this rooftop bar has some surprisingly stellar offerings Ogunquit can begin to reach Jersey Shore levels of busyness as the summer ramps up. And when all the other Ogunquit sit-down options look like an hour-long queue on a weekend evening, Treehouse Taqueria is the hidden gem you need. Tucked away slightly off the main road and above an ice creamery, Treehouse is aptly named, kept secluded by trees on one side and a large awning on the other. Lawn furniture, stainless steel bar top tables, strings of bulb lights, and plenty of house plants complete a college-dorm-eque aesthetic. I swung by around 8:30 with a hungry part of four, and we were promptly seated (tables are first-come, first served). Of note, the kitchen closes at 9, even on weekends!. We opted for a Latino Shephard to share, and then we each ordered a mix-and-match Taco Plate (2 large tacos and a side for $14). The Latino Shepherd (the Treehouse rendition of seven-layer dip) was tasty -- I couldn't help but stuff my face with it as I eagerly awaited my taco plate. The Birria tacos were a highlight -- generous portions of rich, melt-in-your-mouth meat (without overwhelming grease!) were served beside an unorthodox side of au jus. However, the other taco offerings didn't meet the same high bar. The Maine Lobster tacos felt gimmicky at best, with the lobster only a moderate improvement over classic fish tacos. Consensus: probably not worth the $6 upgrade. The BBQ Jackfruit taco was similarly middling: while I thought the jackfruit had a pleasant texture and flavor, the house BBQ sauce ran a tad sugary for my taste. The sides fell somewhere between nice and forgettable. The classic Treehouse Margaritas was excellent, finding a nice balance between flavorful, strong, and affordable ($8). I absolutely love that they offered Tajin to rim the glasses. Definitely opt for these over the other cocktail offerings -- the premium Pink Dragon cocktail was laughably small and slightly less yummy than the margs. Service was attentive without feeling overbearing. Whether erring too safe or too ambitious, I find that fusion cuisine can often miss the mark. But not so at Treehouse. While some of our eats were forgettable, I could not recommend a classic marg and Birria Taco Plate (even as someone who loves variety, I'd say don't mix and match) any more strongly. read more

Safe to say this is Ogunquit's new gem! The restaurant itself has a fun, whimsical, chill atmosphere matched with thoughtful and adorable decor. Patio seating under the "treehouse" was very cool; one side overlooks the heart of downtown Ogunquit, and the other gives you a peek into their open kitchen and their glowing bar. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and they have a great flow given the newness of the restaurant. Service was friendly, expeditious, attentive--left nothing to be desired. The food was outstanding. We indulged in guacamole with seasonal fruit (mango that day--really unique and fresh) and queso to start. The Paloma cocktail was refreshing--will absolutely try another one of their specialty drinks next time. For our main courses, we enjoyed two surf and turf tacos and the above pictured shrimp and lobster tacos. Again, we were extremely impressed with the quality and the freshness of the meat, seafood, and the accoutrements. My favorite was the pineapple salsa on the shrimp tacos. Updating my review: Given the fact that I tried to find some positive aspects in our experience with this restaurant (which was honestly difficult) and the owner responded to my 3 star review with snide remarks about me spending so much time to provide a review, I am lowering to 2 stars. I felt like 3 stars was as fair as I could be, but the owner's response validated I was too hopeful this was an off visit when I gave 3. I rely heavily on Yelp reviews to help me navigate my experiences while on vacation and I provide honest reviews to assist others. The owners response is a clear indicator of the fact that he does not understand that the reviews being provided are not indicating an experience worthy to complain to the server about, but there is an operational issue here - your food is bland, overall not well prepared, and it is overpriced. Your servers cannot fix this. You can. Take ownership in your poor reviews and do your business a favor and fix the true issues being reported. The 5 star reviews are clearly not true reviews of the experience here and are you and your pals fluffing your rating. Cheers! This place looks super cool at first glance and we really enjoyed the vibe when we first walked in. To enter the restaurant, you need to take outside steps up to the second floor patio. The restaurant's namesake, "treehouse", comes from the fact that there is a large upper deck built around a tree (which is unfortunately dying). When you enter into the restaurant off the deck, you first enter an enclosed deck with lots of patio lights and then there's a small indoor restaurant and bar next to that. We were quickly seated and given a two page menu. One side was all drinks and the other side with food. Not a ton of options, but we were still intrigued By many of the unique options offered. The drink menu looks really fun and includes lots of colorful drinks, with cute names and even has buckets as a shareable option. I ordered the Ogunquit Cosmo and it was just OK. Nothing about the drink really stood out to me. We ordered the Latino Shepard to start, which is like a layered dip with tortilla chips. The flavor was OK and I liked the mixture, but because the dip came out lukewarm the cheese was kind of chunky on the bottom end it wasn't as pleasing as I think it would've been if it was really warm and melty. The chips were blue corn tortilla chips and were clearly from a package, nothing special. We also purchased the taco trio with a lobster taco, birria, and a Chicky Chorizo taco. The Birria was the favorite. It had lots of pulled meat and cheese Inside, which was folded and grilled between the taco. It also came with an au jus you that was really flavorful. The chickie chorizo was very bland and we ended up dipping that in the au jus as well. The lobster taco was pretty good and had a fair amount of meat in it, but surprisingly was not our favorite taco and felt that the taco ingredients overpower the lobster meat. We opted for the side of rice and beans which was pretty standard. Our friends also agree that their meal was just OK and they were hoping for a better experience. It was a neat place to visit and the service was pleasant enough, but we would likely not come back with all the other options in town as the food and drinks left us craving something more. read more

I really don't want to be that person leaving a review during a pandemic but I would like to help someone else learn from my experience because this is a highly trafficked place, often bustling, that is likely to come up high in the search. I drove for several hours just to try these tacos based on other Yelp reviews. Also, their Instagram pics looked irresistible. By all accounts, this appeared likely to be a solid place and the creativity seemed promising. We walked in around 4pm and there was enough room out back to sit right out by open air, which was hopeful because we had passed by this place a week prior a little later in the evening and it was bustling. The service was prompt and attentive. We ordered the Jackfruit taco, which I'd been very intrigued about. We also ordered the Beyond Taco, the beef taco (Saucy Gringo) and the chicken taco (Chicky Chorizo). So what went wrong? The tacos were cold and ranged from gross to barely okay. The jackfruit inside the taco itself was alright, but the taco as a whole was cloyingly sweet. The Beyond Taco was downright inedible; my partner, who is usually a human vacuum cleaner, couldn't even help me out. I think dog food out of a can would probably be more edible. The chicken and beef tacos were passable but they didn't seem to be at their freshest, and it was odd that they were cold. If you look at the photo I took, you'll probably notice that the tacos don't seem to be at peak freshness despite having a lot going on visually. The experience left me wondering if this place is a tourist trap. I cannot justify three stars for ambiance and service alone. read more

Then my kid cant have hard chips (braces) so I ask for a tortilla instead for their dip and they charge me an extra $1.00 to swap. So stupid. The waitresses were awful. Had to ask multiple time for cutlery and napkins once food came. The food can super fast so no surprise it was cold. Kids tacos were just clumps of cold cheese with barely anything else. The adult tacos were bland (had to ask for hot sauce) and served in a metal tray (lobster, beef and chicken all bad) and sides of rice and beans for $5 were tiny and served in leaking paper bowls. She was very happy to see that there was also a vegan dessert choice. First time at Treehouse, we usually go over to Banditos for our yearly trip to Ogunquit, but decided to try here instead. Host was very accommodating as we did not know if we wanted to be inside or outside. Our waitress Katarina was very patient with our party and an overall a great server. I got the Impossible Taco (fake beef & vegan) & the birria taco (shortrib). The impossible taco tasted exactly like a real beef taco, absolutely AMAZING!!! And the Birria was super delicious. Perfect amount of food as the 2 tacos came with rice & beans. Margaritas were tasty and fresh- great drink options at a fair price!!!
