Went out of way to eat here and was NOT disappointed! My family of five all gave this place a super high rating. Ate there around 2:30 and it was packed but the service was fast and the food great! we have been to the Herlong location a few times. Each time we have always had a great experience and a great meal. This time we visited the Baldwin location and wasn't all that thrilled. Like the Herlong location this is a small dinning area maybe enough room for 25 people comfortably. It appears expansion is in order as the entire time we were there some sort of construction was occurring. The Guy Fieri look alike seemed to be casting some negative vibes while we were there. Service was attentive by the only waitress that was there. Food wise the meats were all very tasty as was the French Fries. I am a big fan of Mac & Cheese and ordered that as one of my sides. Unfortunately this was a disappointment. The Mac & Cheese was very chalky and grainy not very pleasant tasting. I have the YELP APP on my phone and when trying to locate the Baldwin location on the APP to No Avail, it was not listed however the YELP sticker was pasted to the Front Door. Go Figure. The Herlong Location is a better experience at least we get complimentary banana pudding there. This place could use some key pointers from the Herlong Location. read more

Very Good Spare Ribs , best in town and for miles around. The food is good, but service and getting the order correct can be hit or miss. The AC was on the blink last this week I hope they get it a full strength or will be long hot summer. Went to the Middleburg shop. Great ambiance with the dirt parking lot in front of a small house refitted as the restaurant. You can smell the smoke as soon as you get out of the car. We got the "super family tree" (I think it was). This is a very good value. Lots of meat and sides with bread for $40. We had four adults and three light eating kids and took home more than we ate. Ribs are very good. Nice smokiness, a bit of chew (I don't like the falling off the bone kind), and come dry (my preference). Chopped pork also good; hint of smokiness, moist, fresh. Brisket was good. As another reviewer said, not as good as I've had in TX, but good. Sauces were mustard, sweet, and vinegar. All OK, nothing special. I got fried pickles as an app. Again, nothing special but not bad. We had the complimentary banana and chocolate puddings for desert. They make the puddings there but I don't think the banana pudding has that true custard base that makes tears of joy come to your eyes. Again, though, not bad. Also had coleslaw, which was above average. Service was friendly and fast. We were there at 5pm on a Tuesday. We'll definitely return. read more

Wow! Thanks to Yelp, I tried this place and it is by far the best BBQ I ever had! For 9 dollars I got a pulled pork sandwich on a thick Texas style toast with one side and a drink and I was STUFFED afterwards! The BBQ was so yummy I went back the very next day before leaving Jacksonville! Even though my clothes stunk of smokey bbq (I mean really really stunk!) I still give it 5 stars cause it was so darn yummy! Just go knowing you will need to wash whatever it is that your wearing! read more

"Tree"mendous is just that tremendous! I had the pulled pork plate accompanied with mac-n-cheese and green beans. The sides were phenomenal. I love mac-n-cheese and it's hard to find good quality when eating out. I would of had a meal of this mac-n-cheese alone had I known how good it was The pulled pork was just as tasty with a good variety of homemade sauces. This place is a must visit!! I have been eating there for about 9 months and it is incredible. I love BBQ and have tried just about all that is available on the Westside. Hands down this is the BEST. I have sampled all the meats on the menu and all of them are great. The stand out is the smoked turkey since it is an actual carved breast, not a "turkey loaf" that you get at other places. This place was the nastiest restaurant I've step foot in. Tables aren't bussed, at least 25 flies have a home in the dining room, place is filled with smoke, sauce caps have what looks to be chewed food them and have never been cleaned. Gross..........just plain gross. Turkey was dry. Ribs were dry. BBQ sauces taste like ketchup with a hint of sugar and cayenne. Weakest BBQ in Duval. Check your staff, owners of Treemendous, health inspector would have shut you down today! read more

After reading the review of this place I was excited to give it a shot. I will say that I may be considered by some to be a BBQ snob. I don't think that I am, but I have had quite a lot of experience eating BBQ foods because we cook in BBQ competitions. Perhaps that is why even though the food was good here, it was not anything special. We came when they were pretty busy fulfilling catering/call ahead big orders so it took them a few minutes to get around to taking our order. I decided I wanted to try the brisket sandwiches as it is one of my favorites. The sandwich was packed full of meat which was a nice surprise, but truthfully it was pretty dry and didn't have a lot of flavor. I doctored it up with some of the BBQ sauce that was on the table and it did taste better, but again it wasn't anything fantastic. I had a hard time eating it because it was dry. I know that brisket is not necessarily an easy meat to cook, but I did expect it to be a little less dry. Perhaps it was old from being held, I am not sure. If you are looking for BBQ this will fit the bill, and their catering seems to be very popular but I will stick with the places that I know are a cut above the rest. read more

Been here twice since my initial review and I have to say the quality hasn't been the same. I had ribs that were all fat and even the BBQ beans have been off. Still better than chain BBQ places like Bonos, but hopefully they can return to their prominence. read more

The food here was excellent! Wonderful down-home cooking. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because of their BBQ sauce selection. If you don't like mustard, you won't like ANY of their BBQ sauces as they are all mustard-based. My sister and I got the pulled pork sandwich, mac & cheese side, alligator tail appetizer, and 2 sweet teas and it cost us $20. Definitely good portions for the price! read more

You know what people say about Hole in the Wall restaurants. This is one of those. Hands down a phenomenal restaurant!!! Just as good as Kansas City's Arthur Bryant's! I love me some corn nuggets and these are great for a just as great price! The ribs are awesome and so is the chicken/turkey! The staff is super friendly and will go out of their way to make your visit more enjoyable! It's pretty clean and maybe could use a little more lighting! But who cares about the lighting when the food is as AMAZING as it is! I must say that they should upgrade the facility a little!! My boyfriend and I got the meal for two. The meal came with 4 meats, 4 sides, and 4 pieces of toast for $22. The meal was a good price for the large portion size. I was not impressed with the customer service. The woman that took our to-go order was not very friendly, however, the gentlemen that gave us our food was very nice. The food was OK, but not anything to call home about. They have delicious sauces. I did enjoy the pulled pork, but I did not like the chicken. It was very rubbery and not cooked well. Had lunch here today. It's not my first time eating here and it won't be my last time either but I'm disappointed in what I had. I ordered the special, pulled pork sandwich with Mac n cheese for $8. My sandwich was a small normal one and the side dish came in a small plastic cup. The mac and cheese was bland like others said, but i tasted a sweetness to it (?). I just wish for $8 I could have gotten more food. For $.50 more I could have gotten the platter and had an extra side. I'll pay better attention next time. read more

We went here yesterday. I usually like this place but we came in at opening on July 5th. First of all the lady taking orders barely opened her mouth to speak yet When we walked away i heard her talking quite normally to the other workers. I go up to order and they had no sausage. Then I ordered chicken tenders and none of those either. We ordered something different and sat down. She came and told us once again the smoked chicken my son ordered they don't have that either. On the way there I was beginning to think we had made a mistake in our choice for places to eat since the area seemed kind of run down. Then when we saw it, my husband and I looked at each other like" is this for real?". Tho the outside was clean and cute with nice plants and benches, it is a house converted into a restaurant and seemed a bit strange. When we walked in right at 11am it was empty. But within minutes it was almost packed! That was a good sign! I had chicken with collards and slaw. Roland had a salad with pork and chicken. My ckn breast was tender and moist and I could taste the smoke nearly to the bone. The collards were a bit too sweet. In fact I've never had sweet collards and didn't like them at all. I add sugar to my collards when I cook them but not a noticeable amount. The slaw was tasty, crisp and fresh. I tasted Rolands pork on his salad and it did taste good. It was perfectly smoked and not mushy or tasteless but definately not the best I've ever eaten but still very good. I think the owners are Christian and the interior (and exterior) decor is so cute with the pink polka dot pigs. Out of the way joint that is pretty pleasant. Does some business so there is turnover. However, my review is based on the food. Had the very meaty ribs. They were a little dry and had very little flavor. All light smoke. No grill or dark brown cover. Nothing unpleasant. Three homemade sauces. Sweet, mustard and hot vinegar mustard. Thin and OK. Nothing special. Had frozen crinkle fries. At least they were crisp. Had the baked beans. Tasted like canned. Not bad. Nothing special. read more
