We travel to Park Field for a horse event. We were looking for a place to lunch and this is it the Park Field Café. It's a fun little place with lots of history. The staff is friendly. We were told the steak sandwich was the thing to get. We ordered that and a few drinks and sat outside. It was a beautiful day, the area is lovely. Our food was ready in a few minutes. The steak sandwich was tender and juicy. The fries were pretty good too. If you're in Parkfield, this is the place to eat. Top five best burger I've had in my life!!!! A couple buddies and I spent the past few days in Parkfield on a hog hunt with Miller Bros Expeditions and found ourselves rolling into town with a massive hunger and thirst for some good food and cold beer. We arrived before checking in with our guide and were greeted by Missy. Missy welcomed us in and took our order while we admired the quaint layout of Parkfield Cafe and discussed the coming hunt amongst ourselves. Our beers were served promptly along with ice cold waters and let me tell you something about frosty beers in hot weather after six hours of driving... they hit...they hit good! Although we each ordered different burgers, we were unanimously impressed and satisfied with the quality and every element of our burgers. The side of fries, the meat and the bread were all of top tier ingredients. The burgers were perfectly cooked and presented and had we not inquired about the bread, we would've assumed it to have been baked in house. We found ourselves here a few more times throughout our visit for cold beers and ice and regardless of where we were from, we felt welcomed, served excellently and felt right at home at Parkfield Cafe. Parkfield is a small town, but they afford patrons with outstanding food and service. Seeing as this trip has been a tradition for some of us and for others the start of a new tradition, this was not our first, nor will it be our last experience at Parkfield Cafe. read more

Talk about off of the beaten path with this restaurant! Great call to finally go to a place that has been less than an hour's drive from my house. First off, love the atmosphere of the restaurant. It definitely has a very unique atmosphere that is really appealing. It was raining the day of our visit so we chose to eat inside. We got our table right next to the fireplace. That was a nice touch. When you order your food, it's at the register when you walk in. You place your order there and they bring your food out to you. The burger and fries that my wife and I ordered were definitely made from scratch with fresh ingredients. You could tell. The burgers were cooked perfectly too. Lots of flavors with great seasoning on the patties. The bun itself was another great addition to a great meal. I wasn't the biggest fan of the Shakin' Fries but, they are not for everyone. The staff was super friendly and helpful too. I have zero complaints about them. Good crew working there! I definitely will be going back to eat there again. Want to try the Rib Eye steak! We stayed in Parkfield at the Inn for a few days. The whole experience was peaceful and lovely. The food at the cafe was as usual top notch. I had the bleu cheese burger with added bacon and avocado and it was delicious. Also loved the shakin' fries. One suggested. Have A1 steak sauce and Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce available. An incredible find at the end of a very strenuous 25 mile bicycle ride over from San Miguel. The cycling tour planned this on Thursday and after we arrived and ordered a whole lot more people showed up...I had their "award-winning" burger and it was wonderful! Where the Pacific Plate meets the North American Plate to make the San Andreas Fault. You will find the Parkfield Cafe. They serve grass fed beef. The bad is, it's a little overpriced, and it's far away from anywhere. The good is, the food is delicious and good sized portions. Also the ambiance is pretty much "down to earth country roadhouse". If you're in the area, stop in, there's a lot to like, but I wouldn't make the drive from, say, Templeton, Atown or most parts of Paso. read more

This is a great little café in the middle of nowhere. Parkfield is way off the beaten track and the café caters to groups of friendly bikers, curious tourists, and the like. (Parkfield is the location of some of the most intense monitoring of the San Andreas Fault, and the fault runs right through the place.) There's not much else around there right now, although it appears that there is a "dude ranch" getting organized, but I really don't know the situation there. As far as the café goes, it's fairly standard cowboy Café food - - burgers, various sandwiches, what not, but I can recommend it. We got there right after a big lunch rush had just finished (a classic motorcycle group of about forty people had just finished up), and the four of us had a variety of burgers and salads and such. My grilled cheese sandwich was quite tasty, better than the usual. The fries were good, too. The set-up is a little odd, with one person minding the register and serving the food, and one or two in the kitchen. But it worked well and we were very pleased. If you find yourself (for some reason) going to or through Parkfield, good for you - - be sure to stop at the café. Be aware that it is open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday only. At Parkfield Cafe I had one of the very best burgers I've ever had in my life. Passing through town on a road trip, I stopped in for lunch on a Friday. The Bacon Cheddar Burger was exquisite. The meat has a fine flavor as it's been grilled over an open oak pit bbq, and it's juicy and cooked to perfection. The cheese is high quality and the bun has a little bit of crispness to it and holds the patty well. I also had an ice cream sundae that despite being a little plain was fresh and delicious. It's not just the food, though. The server was very kind and was a good sport to answer some questions from this out-of-towner. Parkfield is a unique place to say the least and the decor of the cafe is cowboy/girl-themed and fun. Because of COVID, dining inside was not an option, but they had benches set up on their lovely green lawn and I enjoyed the meal in shade with a wonderful warm breeze and the chirping of birds. This place is a hidden gem! Recently renovated with rooms that can comfortably sleep up to 4 people. The fridge and coffee machine were unexpected and a wonderful addition! A great location for a weekend get-away or date. Unfortunately we were there when the cafe was closed (Dec. 6th through Jan 2nd every year and this is clearly labeled on the website), and I have heard the food is wonderful, so I will definitely be returning. Parkfield holds a special place in my heart... and stomach! Anyone that knows me, knows that I'm on the eternal hunt for the world's best cheeseburger. I've eaten all kinds of burgers in all kinds of places - oh the stories I have. But nothing comes close to the Parkfield Cafe's very own grass fed beef burgers. Maybe it's the adventure up the mountain or the windy roads. Maybe it's the gorgeous scenery or the fresh air - but life is just better up here, including the food. I recently brought the boyfriend up here to try what I had been touting as one of my top ten cheeseburgers. A few winery trips in the bag before and we were on our way to Parkfield for dinner. We arrived around 7pm on a Saturday evening and were about 1 of 3 other guests who chose this remote location as their dinner adventunture. We opted for a few beers (what else goes with burgers?!) to go with our Shakin Burgers *add bacon (of course!) Like most things in life, it was worth the wait. We enjoyed the scenery, the ambiance, and most of the all the people. It's not a place to stop for a quick bite (although they are efficient) but instead take a load off. Take in the sights, the sounds, and the people. It's all about the experience here. As for the burger? Still ranks in my top 5 of all time. Maybe even my top 2. We stopped here on the way home from our honeymoon. Turns out that the scary (but beautiful) mountain pass road is not the only way to get there, so next time we will take the more tame way! We're out on the motorbikes today, and the ride got us to Parkfield another earthquake capitol in Ca. A beautiful place to ride or drive to for sure, a very large area for gathering with a good looking stage out back. Great food on the limited menu which covered the bases. Burgers, sandwiches, salads and steaks too just ask. French fries were from a fresh potato. I'm told the house made salad dressing was the best ever, all the food looked great. I don't 5star many establishments but these folks have put all the pieces together for an very enjoyable total dining experience. A hidden gem in an out of the way location (Parkfield, CA., population 33) off of Highways 41 and 46 on the way to the Central Coast of California. The restaurant has a nice menu including ribeye steak, great chili beans and homemade chips and great desserts (try the apple dumpling!). As an added benefit, there is the Parkfield Inn across the street which features rustic cabins/rooms which have been converted from an old water tower, post office and bunkhouse. The grounds feature two tree houses, a swimming pool and hot tub and rocking chairs on the porches. A great place for a nice, quiet getaway. The restaurant is open Thursday to Sunday but hot, homemade monkey bread is provide for the Parkview Inn occupants and there is a Keurig coffee maker and refrigerator in every room. read more

This is absolutely the best burger I've ever had in my life. That's the bacon cheddar burger and the house burger (jalepeńos get you shakin like earthquakes). My husband and I shared these and paired with Arnold Palmers. The fries are everything In-N-Out wishes it could be. Cool swag in the lobby. The vibe is Huell Howser's wonderland. Truly historic California. Branding irons hanging from the ceiling in the bar which boasts saddles as bar seats. The lodge across the street paired with the restaurant begs for a family reunion/friend meet-up/corporate retreat. Have to take away 1 star because no one is wearing masks out here, they're not keeping doors open for airflow or presenting customers with a clear flow of their practices, BUT! they do have hand sanitizers on the tables that are all definitely socially distanced. The meat on the burgers is a true expression of the land and their barbeque and Brian's Bread bun lightly buttered really is amazing. Head's up if you head North on Parkfield/Coalinga Road from here- Trump flags flying on cattle ranches. Unsure where these ranchers sell their product but hoping they realize we'd rather eat a lab-grown Impossible Burger than eat their product. I can't say enough about this beautiful little town. We spent 2 nights at the Parkfield Hotel. It's a cozy, warm, rustic place to lay your head. The Parkfield Cafe is just across the road, making it very handy. The food is indescribably delicious. The desserts are generous and delicious as well. This is a ranchers cafe in a ranchers world, with local ranchers beef. The prices are a bit high but you get what you pay for in quality and serving size. I don't have any business in Parkfield and it's off course for my travels but this is my go-to meet up spot when I have to coordinate with coworkers from across the state.
