Mexican Restaurant located in fern creek more towards the Mount Washington border line in a shopping center behind outback steak house. I had dined here around 6 years ago or so but couldn't remember my experience whatsoever. So decided to give the place another whirl today. I'll start off and say the ambience is very nice and the place has a good feeling atmosphere. The customer service we received was top notch. They checked on us a bunch and kept our drinks full. No complaints on atmosphere or setting at all. The food itself to me was very bland. Starting with the complimentary chips and salsa. Neither the mild nor the hot salsa had any flavor. It was almost like taking wal mart brand chips and dipping them in tostadas salsa. I personally ordered the #27. Which was one quesadilla, one burrito and one Enchilada. The quesadilla was a cheese and the other two had chicken in them. The chicken was very bland abd dry and the lack of cheese on all 3 was very noticeable. My wife got the steak ranchero and said it was the chewiest steak she has ever had. Also said they loaded the thing with bell peppers. She was not a fan. My other 3 daughters had mixed experiences. The 4th one is 1 years old and was smashing the tortilla chips so she was a fan I guess. My oldest got the burrito roja. She loved hers. I tried a bite and I will say it was much better than anything else I tasted there. So if I was to recommend any dish it would be the burrito roja. My 2nd and 3rd daughters got kids meals. One got chicken fingers (they actually are nugget shaped which she prefers) and the other got a cheeseburger. Both kids meals had plenty of substance so that was nice. My daughter who got the nuggets said they were "crunchy and interesting". Which I thought was a weird description. So I tried one and I would say that the nuggets are "crunchy and interesting". The other one said the cheeseburger was just ok. Price wasn't bad. Just over 50 to feed 5 1/2 and there was plenty of substance. Honestly we enjoyed every part of the visit. Everything was there, the ambience, atmosphere, service, free chips and salsa, and large food portions. It's just unfortunate the food was just so blatantly bland and flavorless and honestly just not cooked or prepared well. This May be why my wife nor I remembered out visit here at all 6 years ago. My Facebook memories was our only confirmation it happened.

Why would they serve this

worst quesadillas ever nothing on it but meat any meat didn't put any sour cream didn't put any peppers

We had a party of 10. I ordered chilies poblano which is chili rellanos according to server. What I got is very few poblanos and tons of cheese. I mean tons!

I really really liked this place. The bean dip was great. We asked for pickled jalapeños & they weren't stingy ;) .. My fajitas were delicious. It had a few flavors & seasonings that were new to me on fajitas & I loved that. Friendly staff, fast & efficient. My mom loved her steak tacos & my sister got chicken with rice & cheese. No complaints :) we will be back!

My daughter and I stopped in here this afternoon for a quick lunch. It was around 1145 and it wasn't very crowded and we got seated immediately. The service staff is all very nice and I really like the ambience of the place had a lot of cool day of the dead type things in there. Had that one Coco looking character and I've seen in movies Mexican culture types of things. The service staff was very nice the waitress was friendly the guy that bought the chips and salsa was friendly. The food came out very quickly I ordered lunch combo 2 with a burrito and rice beans. It was really good and filling for 6 bucks. My daughter got two soft tacos with no lettuce and she gave them a 5 out of 5. We had a great time and will be back for more.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Louisville!!! Been to several, and this has become our favorite for several reasons. Plenty of parking, very clean inside, staff is always friendly & attentive to our needs, great Chips-n-salsa and the food is fantastic!!!!! We have been here several times and order something different almost every time we go. We have enjoyed every meal every time!!

1/2 done, whole full....

There service and food were terrible. Would not go back to place to eat. Especially with small children as it was so slow.

I had been wanting to go for quite some time to try the Birria because I heard it is so amazing, and it really lived up to the Hype! Oh, did I mention they have the viral soft serve margaritas!?!?! I got the strawberry, it was so pretty, excellent presentation and absolutely delicious! I will say it was more like a dessert to me and I would have preferred to have it after my meal instead if before but that's just me. We got there between 6:30 and 7:00 and it was really busy, luckily our friends got there first and grabbed a table. They had already had a round of drinks while waiting on us but it took a while for anyone to come over to greet us or refill their drinks but again it was busy and everyone was helping everyone. We ended up splitting the birria platter and still had plenty of food to take home which we just ate last night as leftovers and were still absolutely fire!! I think the egg roll and quesadillas were my favorite over the tacos bc I love the melty cheese. I also ordered a small side of queso which was surprisingly a little spicy which I really enjoyed. They even surprised us when my BIL ordered a small margarita and it came out in a fish glass (see photo). It was so unexpected but also so cute at the same time ... it's really the little things like this that bring joy, okay? LOL This place was absolutely amazing and I can't wait to try it again.

We ordered the Trio of Guacamole and they were all fantastic. I ordered an Oaxaca Old Fashioned. The presentation was crazy. It smoked and bubbled. When we arrived we had a brief wait before we checked in, and were seated on the second level. Our server was excellent, our service was quick and he was always around without hovering. It was bitter cold outside so instead of my usual margarita ($14+) I opted for a beer ($6). We started with the salsa trio, one of my favorites with handmade assorted chips. It includes three salsas, somewhat spicy, sweet tomato and tomatillo - the spicy and sweet were my favorites. Next we ordered the tacos el carbon and carbon burrito - pricing is expensive! We both ordered our steaks medium rare. My tacos had a beautiful presentation, the meat came out on a skewer and smoking from the hot coals. All toppings were repeated on the plate. The steak was overcooked and tough though. Had a nice smoke to it, but very chewy. My husband enjoyed his burrito but wasn't the best he's ever had. They also had a mariachi band walk around but they had "tips" all over their instruments and clothes. Overall we had a nice meal but the price point doesn't equal the food quality.

The chips and salsa were good and seemed really fresh. I loved my lunch chimichanga ($13), the best I have had in a while. The vegetarian tacos ($15) were okay, they were definitely messy to eat and needed more salt but the salsa verde helped. The refried beans were good, more flavorful than the normal beans you seem to get everywhere else. Aside from the lunch specials their prices look a little higher than your typical Mexican place but if ingredients are fresh and a step up in quality, I don't mind too much. Street tacos also looked good and things you cant get everywhere (Suadero anyone?) so I will probably be heading back to try those and a margarita flight.

We were leaving for the second leg of our trip and were running late, as usual. We decided to run across the street for a sit down lunch, what's another hour? Two smiling faces greeted us at the door. They offered a high top but my hip was absolutely not digging it nor a table up the flight of steep stairs. Once seated, we were greeted promptly and had water in front of us almost immediately. We each ordered soup and then a sandwich to share. I had the Sopa de Pollo . A hot bowl thick with thin noodles and lots of chunks of chicken. The chunks were too big to eat without being cut up which was a challenge in a bowl of broth. It was so hot that I had to wait a while to try it and even then had to blow on it. It was delicious. Unless the soup is your meal, order a cup. I still took nearly a pint of soup back with me. My husband ordered the Frijole Negro - a huge bowl of black beans that was served with a large pile of raw onions on top. Like the chicken soup, it was burn your mouth hot and a very large serving. He said it was good but he'd not order it again. Moving on to the sandwich. We had the Cubano. I'm not even going to describe it - just trust me - order the Cubano. Do not look at the rest of the menu - order the Cubano. Don't even bother looking at the ingredients, just order the Cubano. Have you ordered it yet? Do it already. The Cubano is huge. We split one half and had the other when we arrived at our next stop. Do consider that we had soup first; otherwise, we'd have eaten the whole thing. The accompanying plantain chips were worthy of their own review. They were wonderful. Who knows if and when we'll be back to Louisville but when we are, La Bodeguita will be the first place we stop. BTW, have you ordered the Cubano yet? What are you waiting for? Put your phone done and order it! Enjoy!!
