The Mahi Mahi was very small and very tough and the tuna was just bad, tough, and the sauce had no flavor. The cut was just too thick. The service was really bad. Every time we asked for a spoon or a refill we need to remind the server. The coffee was also really bad. Cold and burnt. The type that when you add cream it doesn't begin to change color. I could have added a pint of 1/2 & 1/2 and it would have stayed dark. Maybe this is why we weee able to get a reservation for 7:15 at 5 pm today. That should have been a red flag. So glad we found this place while up here in vacation for the week! Seated right away and great, friendly service all around. Sat outside, which was really nice. Busy but easy to talk to the person across from you. The fountain noise added to the pleasant ambience. We had a special of shrimp and pesto with pasta and a plate of the bolognese. Both were outstanding. We'd never seen shrimp paired with pesto, but it worked perfectly. The bolognese might be the best I've ever had. The sauce is really loaded with flavor, with some surprises, like rosemary. Just SO good. Although a little tricky with the large tag pasta. But that's irrelevant. We then went with the Neapolitan cheesecake. Even though I'm a cheesecake snob, I've never seen a cheesecake made with three layers like this: plain, strawberry and chocolate. We had a good meal and some delicious wine. The serving sizes were a little small- the carrot dish only had about five and three small meatballs. The potatoes were the best thing we had! So crispy, great portion, and great sauce. Pasta in the scampi was slightly mushy/overcooked. The house salad we got had focaccia croutons that were so hard we couldn't bite into them without tearing up our mouth. But the salad had a delicious dressing and fresh ingredients. I appreciate the tasters that they give out for wine. The wine was amazing and great selection. So many specials for drinks and meals. The noise level inside was so extreme that we had sore throats the next morning. There was a loud party behind us but still very cramped inside. I think outside would be better. They also had no-touch digital menu for people who didn't want to touch a physical menu. We ordered some appetizers, Crispy Crushed Potatoes, and Tzatziki to share. I had high expectation for the potatoes, simply because they looked great! And they did not disappoint. It tasted as amazing as I'd hoped! And Tzatziki was great too. For main, we ordered Salmon, Trevi Burger, and Braised Short Ribs. They were all tasty, we were very happy with our food. The Short Rib was delicious, and Burger was super juicy!!! With everything going so well, we decided to push our luck with desserts. We ordered Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Cheesecake. They were out of their regular chocolate chip cookie, so they asked if we are ok with their chocolate cookies. It was like double chocolate cookies, since it was chocolate cookies with chocolate chips in them. We added Vanilla Gelato for additional $2. It was sweet, as you can imagine, great for chocolate or brownie lovers. Cheesecake had pretty layers, rich, creamy, and very tasty! I really love the food here and sharing small plates with friends and family. In my opinion, that really is the best way to eat. The drinks are all very tasty and look pretty and colorful. The bread is really good and I like the personal touch of having Chianti butter since it is a wine bar, although I do wish the bread was warm. My favorite part is the staff there. Out of all the restaurants in the commons, I truly feel that the staff here is the most friendly and charismatic as long as they aren't too busy. My wife and daughters were with me today for lunch at Mashpee Commons. We'd eaten at the Trevi Cafe last year and enjoyed our meal so we decided to go back. They have improved the menu offerings to include things that are great for sharing. The Mediterranean Board had an assortment of appetizer items and we highly recommended it. But our server Sara added some accurate suggestions. She told us that the Satellite New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc was better than the California one offered. She was right and let me take a picture of the bottle so I can buy some when I get home. She also gave us shopping ideas that weren't going to have me drive too far. This was one of the worst places ive ever eaten. I ordered the duck taco and it looked like something out of Kitchen Nightmares, it was just badly cooked duck with dry arugula on a pancake. I ate one bite and sent it back. Then i recieved my meatballs which i asked for instead and they were a couple big overcooked chunks of meat in a pool of what looked like red water (i had to take the meatballs out before they drowned in it). We ordered (1) Steak Tips, (2) Schrimp Scampi's, (1) Braised Short Rib & (3) Braised Lamb dinners (a special) served with polenta. Everyone enjoyed their meals however the Braised Lamb was exceptional and fell off the bone. It came with a delicious gravy too. When you voice a concern with the waitress and are upset because the cheese that you asked NOT to be served with the salad, is in fact placed on TOP of said salad, and then you question why you are charged for the cheeses you didn't want, she got snarky. Her comment, "in most cases the customer is right, but in this case YOU are not" ... was extremely disturbing and unprofessional. Perhaps if she had come back to check on our meal, I could have informed her then, or perhaps if she removed our plates when we were done, without us having to ask her, we would not have been frustrated that there was barely enough room on the table to sign the credit card slip and leave a tip. All in all, great food, but between our waitress and the bartender spending most of our lunch talking to each other and not checking on the 5 tables that were seated, and her insulting me, by telling my fiance she felt sorry for him having to be with me, we are not going back. So disappointed in last nights dinner at Trevis. The good: able to make reservations for 6 (only under the tent). servers were attentive and friendly. The bad: the timing of the meals was horrific. My clam chowder (do not recommend) arrived with no other appy's ordered in sight for 10-15 minutes. I'm not eating alone and I'm not eating cold chowder. Waitress finally retrieved it to keep warm and voila the other apps arrived WITH our main dishes. Under protest indicating we don't want both appy's and mains same time servers said the kitchen timing is based on cook availability so no control over when meals come out (what?) So, eating apps and entrees together. Shrimp scampi good, hamburgers good (sent back truffle fries bc they were cold) lamb chops tough and overdone, Mac and cheese...meh. It was too busy to sit outside, so sat indoors. Bad mistake. Not only were we completely ignored. My meal sat waiting for so long it was ice cold upon arrival (by another server). We had to ask for place settings after being served. And asked the other server for another round of drinks. Our server walked by and said she had a coffee moment (i can only assume that meant she needed a restroom break). Not necessarily what i want to hear when you are serving me food! Stopped in for lunch on a rainy holiday weekend with my girl friend. She got beer, I wanted wine but wasn't sure which one as they had so many and several featured! So our server was kind enough to bring me 3 sample pours of wines I was deciding between. Greatly enjoyed my glass of a Spanish red that was featured that day, and paired great with our food: we shared a large cheese board with accoutrements (nuts, fruit, honey, spreads and crostini) which is one of the best I've ever had and very reasonably priced! We also shared the smashed spicy potatoes and a mixed veggie and pita plate. My friend and I are both vegetarians but not all veggie dishes are super flavorful or cooked well; this one blew me away with the flavors, freshness and taste!
