Our friends made the reservation, and before going, my wife and I checked the restaurant's website to get an idea of the cost. The website listed the seven-course meal at $89 per person. Our final charge was $109 per person, plus a mandatory 20% gratuity. That discrepancy was frustrating, especially given the quality of the meal. (someone else commented on this in the reviews - maybe it is time to fix the website). Unfortunately, the food was extremely disappointing. I ordered the steak frites, or "steak frits" as it was written on the menu, and it bore little resemblance to a proper steak frites. The steak was a dry, overcooked cube of meat served on top of fries that looked and tasted similar to frozen store-bought steak fries, along with an unidentified pink sauce. My wife ordered the scallops with lobster ravioli. The scallops were overcooked, and the ravioli appeared to have been previously cooked and then fried or reheated. They were and rubbery rather than fresh and tender. I realize my expectations may be higher because I am accustomed to dining in larger metropolitan areas, but we have had far better meals at several restaurants in Walla Walla. I cannot understand why anyone would make the drive specifically for this restaurant unless they were already staying at the B&B. Even then, I would recommend going into town for dinner. The service was also slow. Our server tried to remain pleasant, but she clearly seemed unhappy or overwhelmed. We were a group of six, and none of us finished our main courses. Despite the amount of uneaten food left on the table, she didn't ask whether everything was satisfactory. The one positive was the pleasant view of the surrounding canyon and landscape. Unfortunately, the scenery was not enough to make up for the poor food, slow service and unexpected pricing. Lastly I do not believe all their positive reviews are organic or they really have gone down hill. Fine dinning this is NOT!

We arrived at peak cherry season the weekend of July 4th. Cherry trees surround the beautiful shared outdoor patio, ripe cherries covered the trees and were falling to the ground. Can one eat too many cherries? What is too many? Did I spoil my dinner? Yes! The Orchard Chalet is the bottom floor of the owners house. It is a 2 bed, 2 bath, living room with reasonably comfortable sleeper sofa, wood pellet stove, dining room & full kitchen. It has been a while since its last remodel, but it is comfortable and perfect for families. Its dedicated, semi-enclosed, outdoor covered patio provides plenty of space to spread out and relax. Our parents and children enjoyed their stay in the Orchard Chalet. We were able to comfortably entertain a couple families that stopped by to say hello. A building behind the main home is split into 2 units, the Sunrise and Santina Chalets. I stayed in the Santina Chalet which is freshly remodeled in a modern styling - highly recommended for couples wanting a romantic getaway! The bathroom has a spacious shower and soaking tub. Its backdoor opens to a deck overlooking the cherry orchard. Look for my pictures. The owners were very friendly, but sadly they were heading out of town so we missed out on the breakfast that others rave about. Will we return? YES!

She and her husband enjoyed the wines, and I went and poured them more than what we normally serve. There is a tradition in the wine industry that you get free tastings at (most) tasting rooms. It's a professional courtesy thing. There is also the trade discount, which is anywhere from 20-35%. Our is 25%. I take pride in my abilities and service. At the end of the tasting, with $60 worth of free wine and the discount, this woman gave me just over $6 in a tip. For over and hour of dedicated attention and professionalism, this was my reward. I'm sure the tasting room is nice and all and the service is great, but based on the owner's lack of grace and kindness I have to wonder how she trains her staff. If you're in the wine trade and looking for recommendations I'd stay well clear. But if Ms. Loscoe is there ask for everything and then leave a worthless tip.
