While in town a couple of weeks ago, I chose to dine here for a Friday lunch. Yelp led me here with Triads high reviews. It is a casual seafood restaurant located on the Barron River which connects to the Gulf. There are a few parking spaces in front otherwise it's free street parking where you can find it. There is a school across the street so parking can fill quickly. Most of the seating area is outside so you enter and then find an empty table. Menus are on the table and then a server arrives and takes your order. If the weather is right sitting next to the water is a nice calming experience. I sat in a screen enclosed covered patio. My order was for the fried grouper sandwich with french fries and cole slaw for $27. Yes grouper is expensive. The meal arrived about 10 minutes later. The fried fish fillet sitting in on the long bun was HUGE and it looked delicious too. I was very happy and then I started to eat it. Everything with that sandwich was excellent except its taste. It was the batter for me. The taste wasn't bad at all but it didn't stand out to me. Whatever batter they use to fry with is not my favorite and that is the only reason I don't give a 4 score here. The french fries were excellent in taste and showed me that Triad's puts effort in making them. Also the slaw was cool and a nice palate cleanser. The table service was friendly and attentive. I like Triad's and would be happy to return. But I would probably try something else on the menu that isn't fried. The batter taste is my opinion and I'm sure others will disagree. Another fact about eating here is that they charge 3.5% more for credit cards use. With an iced tea, tax and tip, my lunch cost $40...kind of expensive for Everglades City, FL. read more

Stopped here after our Everglades boat tour and it was the PERFECT lunch. We got to try stone crab which I believe came straight off the nearby boats earlier that day, and the kids were super excited to try alligator. Food was fresh and service was friendly. The restaurant is right along the water so we actually saw our same tour boat go past while we were eating. The kids enjoyed watching the different birds fly by and the fish swimming right over the rail of the restaurant. Food that is ALWAYS on point; perfectly fried green tomatoes with feta cheese, delicious conch fritters, medium claws are an all time favorite and the side dishes do not disappoint (I have a hush puppy addiction!) If you make a trip down to Everglade City, I think Triad is worth a stop. We found it when visiting the area last year, and enjoyed it enough to return on our visit this year. This is a small fish market, and back home we would call a place like this "seafood in the rough". There are outdoor picnic tables, some covered and some seats overlooking the river. Fun to watch the pelicans and other wildlife. You are also permitted to throw your stone crab shells over the railing into the water. Not sure if the birds are interested, but there were quite a few pelicans! We came for the stone crabs and as expected they were fresh and delicious. The only pain point is the price. Stone crabs are expensive and it seems the price goes up every time. As it was lunch, we ordered one plate and split it for a very light lunch. Hush puppies and sweet potato fries were delicious. Coconut shrimp were OK, not among the best we've had in the area. Key lime pie was delicious! They seemed understaffed and service was slow. If you pack a cooler you can stop in the fish market and purchase some to bring home. read more

I have had Stone Crab all over the country, and the price point is about the same and the size of the claw is about the same. For the same price point, Triad gives you a bigger claw. We stopped in for lunch during the last week of October--and wow, are we glad we did! It was peak stone crab season, and this place delivered the freshest claws we've ever had. We ordered two medium claw meals, complete with crispy onion rings, creamy pineapple-infused slaw (mayo-based, just how we like it), and ice-cold beers to round it all out. The stone crabs were incredibly fresh and flavorful, perfectly complemented by their signature mustard dipping sauce. We sat at a table overlooking the river, and after finishing our meal, we were encouraged to toss the empty claws into the water. To our surprise and delight, catfish appeared to scoop up the scraps--such a fun and unexpected touch! We visited after a fan boat tour, but honestly, we'd make the 40-minute drive from Marco Island again just to eat here. I came into town for Thanksgiving and my boyfriend decided to take me to go on an airboat tour to see alligators in real life! I noticed that next to where we were at for a boat rides, there was a place that sold stone crab. I told him I never had it before, but my mom said that her friends loved it. Stone crabs happen to be in season now. After going to see the animal sanctuary, we decided to try to find a place to have stone crab to share for the sake of having it at a place where it would be very fresh. Google maps took us to some café where he asked for a recommendation. While he was in there, I looked up triad seafood. When he came up came back out, he told me that the lady in the café recommended triad seafood as well. We then went on over. There was no wait, luckily, when we arrived. Within a few minutes of our arrival, all of the tables in the back patio filled up. We had waterfront dining and ordered a large order of stone crabs plus a slice of homemade Keylime pie. The freshness was undeniably present. I loved our sides of coleslaw and sweet potato fries. There was no better place to have Keylime pie then so close to the keys. While we placed one order to share between two people, we were very for the end of our meal. Highly recommend coming here. And if I'm ever back in town, we'll be here again. read more

Cashier will give you a pager and we were seated in less than 10 minutes. We had the blackened shrimp bowl and the blackened grouper bowl, a house specialty. Both were caught-today fresh, generous portions, perfectly seasoned, not too salty, with excellent fries, delicious cole slaw. Horrible wheelchair service!! I asked about sitting arrangements. Lady said "all tables are same." Picnic tables are usually not the best but I looked anyway. Some tables had longer ends. I informed them of this and that it might work.... Older woman said, "I'm not arguing with you." I was just informing her and she was rude!!! It probably would have been a wonderful place, but a restaurant is no place for rude behavior. After 40 years of taking care of a quadriplegic I'm tired of the out of place rudeness!!! Enroute to Miami from Sarasota, we decided to take the scenic drive through the majestic Everglades National Park. Yelp reviews coincided with lunchtime and we ended up here. Quaint quiet lovely old Florida Everglades City, boats with crab traps line the waterside docks, busy place.... looked promising, Oh, plus the lure of fresh stone crabs. Not that this place would have cared, I love stone crabs! We unloaded the pups, picked up menus enroute to grabbing a picnic table on the patio. 8 tables there but other seating along their dock area too . Ordered the crab with rice and too soupy black beans, canned corn, hubby ordered the fried soft shell crab basket with fries and sweet hush puppies. Obviously, the stone crab claws do not come cheaply, and the $50 for 5 large claws plus 2 sides is fair. However, the claws were not super fresh. You can tell when the meat is stringy and sticks to the shell. Ironic for a place within this environment are not more sustainablely responsible, straws, plastic ware, etc. Oddly, had to ask for a plate, a fork, something to crack the claws where the kitchen did not do so. It was getting to be a joke with asking for these items as it should be a given.... It seems that a local tour may stop by here and there were plenty of out of state license plates on cars when we left so more tourist than local spot.... Stop for a photo of the pelicans snoozing by the water...would eat elsewhere or pack a picnic! read more

Small spot off the beaten path. It was recommended to us by a local. No indoor seating but most of it is covered. You sit by the water and can watch a few boats. Our server Valerie was great! She answered every annoying question we had. She knew a lot! We started off with the gator tail. It was some of the best gator tail I've had. We also got frog legs which were really good too. For lunch I got the stone crab claws. I got the medium ones. They were actually pretty big. I can't imagine how big the larger ones are. The best part of these was that they served them already cracked so minimal work for me. My sides of sweet potato fries and black beans and rice were also really good. There's no bar so you can't get a mixed drink but they do serve beer and other hard items in a can. We really enjoyed our food here.
