I came here for a birthday dinner celebration and truthfully the experience was far from special being that it was a double birthday occasion. I had asked for water that I hadn't received until midway through our entree when I searched the empty venue for our waitress. Very cut to the chase and slightly impolite service left a bad taste. It was a Wednesday with few other tables to tend to so I guess the morale was low. Nonetheless the Arroz Chaufa had barely there bits of streak and was too overpoweringly salty I was left curious what seasonings were actually used. Anyway the food was not exceptional while the service from our waitress was subpar and I have visited this location a few years ago and boy was the experience far from what it once was. They made errors on our bill which came off as sneaky trying to double charge for half of the party. Not to mention how they didn't bring adequate utensils or plates and lied to our face about our cake being held in the freezer while the melted ice cream cake slid off of the box before our eyes. Finding a good mofongo in south florida has been no easy feat so when I saw that a Dominican place was about to open in this plaza I was pretty excited. We decided to go try it out today. The restaurant is nicely decorated. We went on a Saturday and they were getting ready to host Wason (a Dominican singer) that night so dining tables were a little limited since most of them were being placed in the center for the concert. Regardless we were comfortably seated and taken care of by a nice waitress who made us feel welcome. The mofongo was $10 which is around the price range of other places except it was a little smaller. The portion was perfect for me since I prefer to eat smaller portions. We were asked if we wanted to add fried pork chunks on the side and my husband agreed, it was an additional charge of $9 bringing his whole meal to a total of $19 dollars... the food was good, not overly seasoned and not greasy at all, thumbs up for that. Presentation was on point. It seems as though this could be considered a "gourmet" Dominican restaurant which is good but there are some things that I prefer stay true to its origins. Mofongo is always served with a light warm broth on the side to moisten the plantain, in this case they serve it with a garlicky sauce which was good but it just doesn't play the role of the classic broth plus it leaves you ready to kill vampires since the mofongo already has some garlic in it. First time I visited was on a Saturday night when there was a live band (Bachamambo) I had such a great time but I did not order food (drinks only). The second time was on a Friday for lunch, I ordered Rice and Beans and Pollo a la plancha... the chicken seemed fresh but the rice and beans were both cold! The food was just ok... I decided to give this place another shot this week for lunch, my mom ordered Bacalao and I ordered a Sancocho. My mom said the bacalao had no taste and there were more onions than bacalao and my sancocho was too sweet and COLD. I hate cold food...clearly wasn't fresh. I went during the lunch hour so the place was kind of empty but I imagine at night and on the weekends it would be very packed. It has a large sitting area and can accommodate large groups. Ugh, I really wanted to like this place. Living in suburbia, it's hard to find great restaurants, and this one seemed promising. We checked this place out for dinner and right away we noticed lots of positives: the decor was fresh and welcoming, the staff was friendly, and service was fast. But (and it's a big but) - all of our food was mediocre or just not very good. I got the oxtail with mofongo (the mofongo was bland, oxtail was fine), my husband got the skirt steak (steak was good, not amazing- just good), and my kids shared the sliders (burgers were tough and too salty). The fries were good. The kids meal was 9 bucks (sliders and 1 side) - I asked for two sides knowing there would be an up-charge for an additional side (fries). The up-charge turned out to be $7 - basically the price of the meal! I didn't appreciate that surprise on our bill.. $72 (tip included) for two entrees and a kids meal of just okay food? Not worth it in my opinion. Hoping they improve the quality of the food and maybe we will give it another try in the future. read more

I'm selecting a one star because I have to put at least a star. First of all I went in and there was only 3 tables (so not many ppl there, this should have been my que to just leave). I ordered a simple soda and the coke came back flat, no worries I told the waitress, she was very nice btw. She return to tell me the machine is not working, so she offers me a can, yes I said. She comes back and says oh sorry we don't have any cans of soda either. they couldn't even get a simple soda together, this was my second cue to just leave, but I stayed. I started ordering from images I seen on Yelp. Don't waste your time looking here though because everything Yelp is no longer available or on the menu ( they said it was because of covid). I ended up ordering some fried chicken chunks and monfongo because that's all they had. My food comes out in like 5 mins (my 3rd cue), that food was NOT fresh, it was cold, and the monfongo tasted really stale. I called the manager over to complain and she denied everything like I was the crazy one. She kept going on and on about what ingredients they use, how they cook the food, and so on. All I'm saying was that the food was not fresh, if you are going to reheat my food do it right and don't charge me full price!!! We paid such a high price for a garbage place. PS. Amazing place!!! We came on a Tuesday night so we were one of only two tables in the place which was nice as we don't enjoy loud music. Everything was amazing! We started with the oxtail dumplings which i highly recommend. they were fried but not too heavy, and the sauce they came with wasn't overpowering. we each had a couple drinks, the latin thyme, the voltiao, el viejo, the dying dreaming, and i had the cafe con leche as an after dinner drink. the voltiao was delicious and the cafe con leche was the perfect end to it all. the dying dreaming was okay, i didn't really enjoy how much it tasted like condensed milk but my boyfriend liked it. the latin thyme was interesting but not for me. for entrees we had el chuleton and el argentino, both which were fantastic. my pork chop was probably the best pork chop i've ever had in a restaurant. cooked to perfection with a delicious marinade, perfectly cooked veggies and some parmesan yuca fries that i loved! my bf got el argentino which was basically a churrasco with rice and beans which he enjoyed. the service was very attentive and our server was very sweet. all in all a great experience and we will be returning! read more

Just make sure that if you go for lunch you don't get the one from the lunch menu, it's nothing similar to dinner one that is also available for lunch. The Yuca mash is delicious and the slider are a great appetizer. Friday through Sunday you'll have live music or some type of show. My husband and I received the worst service at Tribeca . I was so excited to eat here as we don't have enough Dominican restaurants in our neighborhood. When we entered the restaurant we were not acknowledged. There was a band practicing with extremely loud music you couldn't hear anyone speak. They never put the order in for our main entree.
