I took my car in for a smog test based on the 5 star reviews, which I should know better but I digress. I was on my lunch break and decided to trust this place to get a smog test. Well, my car has a yellow service engine soon (SES) light on and the reason that light came on was back 2 years ago, my gas cap was stolen and I unknowingly drove for more than a few minutes without a gas cap. Guess what? A code of P0442 came on my dash and the yellow SES light came on as well at the same time with a open gas tank door symbol. I bought a new gas cap and a friend told me that I will need to delete the code before getting a smog test, but that was almost two years ago and I didn't let it bother me. When I walked into the shop, they quoted me $69 for a smog, which I thought was a bit too pricey, but I was going to ask for a discount and I just wanted to get this test over and move on. Well, he runs the test and gives me a report showing everything passed but the SES light with the P0442 code was still present. I explained to him why I had that code appear but he tried to make it seem to me that the code was something more serious than a loose gas cap code. I googled the code on my cell in front of him and showed him what that code means (it means a loose gas cap is the most likely reason) and I asked him if he could reset the code and let me come back for a retest and he said no. He then pulled out a ODB reader and I asked him if he could reset it with that machine and he said no, that I have to leave the car for a diagnostic, which would cost me $125. I read people very well and knew this guy was being shady. I went back to my office, googled and found that a $14 ODB 2 reader from Walmart can erase the code and for my car model, in particular, this code is usually due to a loosely capped gas cap and nothing mechanical (usually). I reset it with the ODB2 reader I bought from Walmart and I am now looking to see why I ended up paying their "discount" rate of $49.75 when I'm looking at smog places that charge $19.95 with a coupon. I felt like I was ripped off and I know he tried to mislead me. I would not trust himagain. read more

Awful customer service. After performing smog check, failed to send it electronically to dmv. After calls, still didn't send. The certificate expired and we needed to re-smog. Called them to explain what happened and the agent was so rude and said "not their problem" and hung up. Ended up going to Simply Smog, who had incredible service, great customer service and priced matched Trident. Don't go here. read more

Joe is an outstanding Diagnostician. They do fantastic work at reasonable prices. They worked on our Lincoln LS which has an intermittent stall, and a hard shift problem. Three other shops had worked on it including the dealer and after spending thousands of dollars we had lost hope and decided to sell the car. I came here with my car after getting an estimate at Simply Smog to get a second opinion because they quoted replacing a fan on my engine at $460 and I thought they might be taking me for a ride. So I took my car here and now my whole car is up and running for cheaper than I would have gotten at Simply Smog. Joe is trustworthy and didn't gouge me even though it's clear that I don't have an extensive knowledge of cars. I'm definitely coming back here when something goes wrong in my car again. read more

Joe and crew have done a great job on my car. I had taken it to another mechanic, who charged me for an AC repair that failed 2 months later. I went to Trident and was quickly shown that my condenser had a hole in it, and any refrigerant added would leak out. Why the other shop did not catch this, I don't know. Joe gave me a great price on an aftermarket condenser and did the repair quickly, finishing under his estimated time and dollars. My name is Albert. I have a 68 Camaro. I was trying to find a reliable shop that could convert my stock fuel system to an EFI system. I heard about this shop through one of Joe's workers relatives. I've never used this shop before; but because it was referred to me I decided to give this shop a try. I called at the end of the day; but Joe the owner of the shop answered All of my questions patiently and did not try to rush me off the phone. He even went to the location where my car was at which was 13 miles from shop. Joe looked at it and assured me he was confident doing a complete fuel conversion. My 68 Camaro had a 350 with a CAM, performance heads and a holley carb. During the process it was discovered my gas tank required replacement. The EFI kit was already purchased and the gas tank already had a fuel pump inside. This created a $250 part that was no longer needed; but he still kept his word on the estimate without any further price increase. I will continue to use Trident Auto for any further of my mechanic needs because I have been thoroughly impressed with the service I received; which is hard to find nowadays. From my experience; if anything is wrong, Joe will make it right!! read more

I like the old straight to the point man that worked here before when it was simply smog. This new guy is a laugh and doesn't care about customers at all which he proved to me today! Had to get to obb fuses replaced so my truck could pass smog it took them 5 min to replace it then at the end of the service my grand total changed from 45$ to 95$ I paid it like it was no big deal trying to give them the benefit of the doubt my first thought isn't to think I'm getting robbed , anyways I drive away and come back 5 min later saying I wasn't happy with that 45$ labor charge and he speaks up and says how come didn't say anything when u paid and I said I wasn't thinking and he says it's not my fault u weren't thinking. The truth of the I wasn't thinking statement is my first reaction is going to be "this guy is unhonest" my first reaction is to trust people so I was unprepared for an answer when asked me and caught off guard by this arrogant reaction.. the guy threw half of my labor rate in cash on the counter after I told him to either not pass my car smog or cut my labor rate in half. all in all guy said I was an idiot and said its not his fault I wasn't thinking, right on!!! :) read more

Quick service when I walked in Wednesday afternoon, the ladies inside were friendly, got a great price for the smog check. Waiting area was clean and stocked with beverages. But things got a little weird when they finished the test. When I asked about the results the technician said that "it passed, unfortunately" I asked what that meant and he said they don't make money if it passes. Okay.. Why is this the customer's concern? I'm sure you can imagine the horrors I've been through when my last car couldn't pass smog, the thousands of dollars I spent on repairs. But, thank you for telling me you basically couldn't care less. I should have been elated that my car passed without any issues, but instead you made me feel guilty?! Went in for a smog check for my 2005 Bmw. Smog passed and was done very fast. I have a driving light that was out and the dealer wanted $1800 to replace the Xeon complete assembly which did not need to be replaced. I had the light fixed at trident and air filter for over $1500 less. They quoted me 1.5 hours to complete and it was done in 1 hour. Great service for a fair price. I can't ask for better experience. I took my car in for smog and some repairs and as usual Joe took great care of me. Joe is the most honest mechanic. I have used him for years and will never let anyone else touch my car. He will let us know if something can wait or should be done now. His prices are very reasonable also. We are thrilled that he has opened his own shop. When we were looking to buy a used car for our son, we brought one we were looking at to Joe. Thank goodness we did. It turns out it had been badly damaged and repaired. This is the best auto repair shop in Santa Clarita. I went for a smog and found they actually do auto repair as well. I took advantage of their $49.99 AC special and also had my fluids changed and brakes done. They use OEM parts and charge a lot less than what the dealer was charging me. I also liked their waiting room. It was air conditioned, very clean and confortable, and I even had coffee and Arrowhead water. When they were done with my car, they even got it washed.
