My remodel project began several months ago with an idea I had to turn my laundry area from an eye-sore to a clean open space. My first thoughts were to have a barn door installed to enclose the entire area. But as I played around with various room design apps, I realized a barn door would close off a lot of space. Once I created a general image via image editing apps, I sent out several requests for quotes on Yelp. Many of the requests wanted me to call them so they could come give me a quote. None of them gave me much to go on unless I would agree to an appointment. From the beginning, Matt was different. He was personable and asked additional questions to be able to answer my questions the best he could without me having to commit to a future appointment. He responded immediately and offered a few options for me regarding next steps. He was very knowledgeable and did not have a pushy approach. For these reasons, I decided to move forward with Vision Remodelers. After I had Matt come by to give me a more accurate quote other than him just going by the image I created, I hired Matt to begin this project. Matt and his crew were exceptional while they completed my remodel. They were professional, polite, & timely. His workers even took the time to have my spoiled, skittish dog warm up to them! My only regret is that I didn't meet Matt & team months before to do all my home projects/renovations! With the utmost confidence, I would gladly recommend Vision Remodelers for any home project! I saw him posting a lot of good pictures online and I figured i thought I'd give him a shot. We got in touch we spoke about a few jobs I have that I need help with and he said he can help me. I told him the requirements that we have and he said no problem he can get this to us. - Insurance certificate with our name on it before he starts working. - Take before, During and After pictures. This was June 19th week. June 23rd. I contacted him asking him if he was still planning on going to the clients home on Saturday to do the work. He responded yes. He told me it would be done by Sunday. It wasn't and he didn't contact me to let me know. (Very frustrating as I shouldn't be continuously contacting him). The job wasn't done over the weekend. The job was supposedly going to be done on the following Tuesday but it didn't until Wednesday. I understand weather permitting, however he never told me that he was coming out the following day. Wednesday supposedly the job was completed but it wasn't. This was a 1 man - 2 day job and pretty cut and dry project. Thursday June 29th I reached out to Dan about his project. I had to stop out at the property to find the fence installed has major issues since he never sent me the pictures. 1. Posts are loosely in the ground. They move and jiggle around. They aren't solidly in the ground as they should be. 2. The fence is chipped and cracked in several areas along the hinge areas very visible. 3. One post is being held up by a bungie cord - because the post isn't solid and is loose. 4. One post is crooked. 5. On one side of the home the fence isn't flush with the home as it should be. There is a piece of fence between the gas meter and the post loosely standing there. 6. The hinges on the left side of the garage are facing out and the one on the right side of the home are on the inside. 7. The gate can't open clearly due to the gas meter being in the way. Per the previous fence the gate opened as it was in the middle. 8. The gate on the left side was supposed to be 48" and 36" on the right side. He responded blaming me for picking out the worst materials to have installed. "Clients choice". It's a crappy installation. See the attachments. Dan asked me what I'm charging for labor and I responded; What I charge for labor or for the job has NOTHING to do with your quality of work period! He offered to have this fixed on the 4th of July and I declined as my client is having guests over this holiday weekend. This should have been fixed before the weekend not when it's convenient for him. This crappy installation can hurt my business reputation. He has used volger language with me and has threatened me because I've brought this to his attention. I had to get my attorney involved as he's acting out of control instead of fixing the problem so he can get paid. Update 7/13/18 The project is still incomplete. Unfortunately we have had to get our attorney involved since Dan has made severe threats after leaving this review online. Additionally he isn't willing to work with us and get it done how our contract with our client states. "Dans texts below; The next thing I say to you will be face to face. I'm done with the text talk. Maybe reconsider the way you talk to people, it may run some the wrong way I FUCKING TOLD YOU I WAS GOING TO ADDRESS THE ISSUES. Apparently you can't read or were ignoring it. lol..... sue me......for damage I did or material I wasted of yours? Emotional distress? I'm done with this for today guy. Well took soon I see you went on my Yelp page you big fat fuckin piece of shit. I was goin to let this go, but you changed my mind" I don't want the gates flipped as Dan wants to do because there will be holes empty or filled looking like junk. I want the posts replaced, and gates that are broken replaced. Sadly if he doesn't do it per my instructions which I've messaged him a few times about I will have to have it removed and redone. He appeared extremely professional, came into the unit to give estimate with a clipboard. Asked me what I wanted and then it went all downhill. It was quite an extensive amount of work that needed to be done. He immediately starting questioning my funding in front of the seller. It got so bad I had to say, We can discuss your financial concerns, but the seller doesn't need to be privy to this level of my business. We leave out and he seems ok again, just wanted to be sure I could get the funding. I'm like no problem can you put the bid in tonight. He says ok. I call him the next morning because the bid hasn't been submitted and he is like Oh I was really busy yesterday. Ill TRY to get to it by the end of the day. Again he did not, After a week goes by. I ask do you want this job... He says to be honest I would have passed if I knew it was all this work that needed to be done. At that point I was done. We no longer need to communicate. He normally doesn't service this area, but we'd worked with him in the past…read morein his normal service area and we had an electrical issue that was effecting our furnace, so he made the extra effort to come out. The house is close to 80 years old with some interesting wiring configurations and i can easily see some others either giving up or resorting to the more extreme possible causes (taking out part of a wall or replacing a whole fusebox), but he patiently, methodically, and thoroughly went through it and found the problem. Somewhere I definitely never would have guesses considering nothing had been plugged into that outlet for at least a year. Highly, highly recommend if you want someone who will make sure to leave no stone unturned before resorting to high-ticket guesses.

I should have guessed when I tried to schedule with him, and he asked me to remind him the…read moreafternoon before. I sent him pictures of the jobs we wanted him to do, which he acknowledged, saying that it looked like a full day's worth of work. I reminded him the afternoon before, as requested, and he then told me he had another job in the morning. He then texted me the morning of and asked if he could bring a helper, doubling the hourly rate but getting more done more quickly. I approved (stupidly). He then showed up and asked me if they were going to be working inside or outside (all of the jobs I had texted him about and sent pictures for were obviously inside). I walked him through it, and he told me he could do all of the work. Fast forward to when the work was completed (poorly). My wife called him to complain about the way his guys left things, and he started trying to pit my wife and I against each other. He changed his story several times--despite the fact that most of our communication was via text, so I had records of it--and tried to paint me as the bad guy to my wife. To his credit, he wound up coming out to try to fix some of the problems himself. However, he wasn't able to fix much of it the day he came, and he offered to get us a discounted quote on fixing the rest of it. We declined. He explained on this last day (after the fact) that it is difficult to exactly match paint colors (for covering patches he did on the walls) and that he wasn't able to tack down the area of carpet we had asked him to on the first day because he isn't a carpet-layer. Had he explained these two things upfront--and had he not engaged in all of the emotionally manipulative b.s.--this review may have been different. As it is, I wouldn't recommend hiring him for any more-involved work. If you need a cabinet fixed or bathroom hardware mounted, he's probably a fine candidate. For anything more complicated, my experience leads me to recommend going in a different direction. Photos are of "completed" work.
