Clay installed a panel wall in our stairwell and encased all of our entryways in wood trim- it was a project we had been looking to do for years and he did not disappoint! He was incredibly honest during our initial meeting, walked through all the trim work we were thinking of doing and he actually talked us out of doing a few things and installing less paneling, (whereas other carpenters tried to upsell us and beef up the job)...He was right, less was more! Best decision ever to hire Clay and Trimworks! We hired Clay to do our baseboards and we could not be happier about it. He came out with samples and measured everything. I set up an appointment with this company for Thursday at 5:30 p.m. I left work early so that I could be there on time for the appointment. I messaged in around 5:10 p.m. to see if they were on there way or if they had any issues with directions. Their response was "Sorry for not getting back earlier. I had to leave early today. Will you be around tomorrow around noon?" I replied and said, "nope". And this was the response, "I'll have to pass on it. I will not be back down that way for a few weeks". Clay just finished putting new base Moulding throughout my entire home. It looks great! I had put in new laminate flooring and initially elected not to replace the base Moulding because of the expense. I contacted Clay at Trimworks months after doing the floors to see if he could update my Moulding for a reasonable fee. He returned my call the same day, and brought me out plenty of options. He also gave great suggestions once he saw my home and the styles I liked. He was very professional and his quote was extremely reasonable. He did all the work himself with his employee. (I never like when the owner sees the project, gives a quote, and then sends other guys to do the work.) Clay and Jeff were very detail oriented, extremely neat, and completed the project in exactly the time frame quoted. I should mention that my job required extra work because the removal of the old baseboards was anything but straightforward. Despite all the extra work, Clay stuck to his original quote. I cannot recommend Trimworks. My primary reason is because Clay left my job unfinished without contacting me. He had a family issue, however never did he offer to finish the work or return my calls three and four weeks later. When we did talk, he debated me on the work he had left to do. Before he left our job, he had placed moulding in areas we did not require and did not complete the main part of our job, the main living room with high ceiling. I've also got 6 inch moulding everywhere except a little bathroom where he placed 4 inch. Furthermore, he was reluctant to paint the moulding, constantly debating me that a painter will want to do it if we were going to have the home painted. Later, I had the job finished by Mr D's construction. They charged me $1300 for nearly the same linear feet that Clay did for $2900--and they put three coats of paint on it (and also painted the stuff he did). Clay is more clean cut than most tradesmen you would have in your home and does have some talent, l'll give him that. But when you're paying thousands of dollars you don't want pushback on simple things like painting moulding, nor do you want to debate what you had previously agreed on, nor do you want someone leaving in the middle of a job. Not worth it here there are other people who do this type of work. read more
