I called in because my daughter was in pain in the back of her jaw due to her wisdom teeth. They…read moreassured me that they could take care of her that evening. I did not expect that anyone would pull out her teeth that evening. I just wanted them to xray that area and make sure that's what it was, and to give a referral to a specialist if needed. They took her in and insisted on xraying all her teeth with the vinyl ones you have to hold in place in multiple tooth areas. They then sat her in the chair and began cleaning all of her teeth including the very back molars next to where wisdom teeth are located. She was in tears at this point waiting for the dentist to review the xrays. She came over and stated there were no cavities, see you in six months. I was very confused at this point because I stated wisdom teeth on the phone, said it again when we came in and when they insisted on cleaning the teeth when she was in pain. The dentist then told me that they do not have the ability to xray the wisdom teeth area, that is a panoramic xray machine that is done standing up. She said they would writ a referral for her to see an oral surgeon for an evaluation. I asked them if they could writ a prescription for one or two pain pills to overcome her now increased level of pain from the cleaning. The dentist said it wasn't warranted for a simple cleaning. This was a shady money grab that left my daughter in more pain than she came in with. How dare you get me into your establishment under the false pretense of being able to offer guidance for my daughter. I took your referral to a different oral surgeon where they removed four impacted wisdom teeth from my daughter's mouth. The oral surgeon you would have sent us to was not even in our Delta Dental network. Do not trust this dentist!!!

He has such a calm and reassuring presence, which helped put me at ease and made the treatment go much better than I expected. Front desk was friendly, the dental office/equipment looked modern, and the dentists were efficient. Each procedure was explained and front desk helped with scheduling and often notifying for upcoming appointments. So the reason why I stopped going... I had a filling redone due to it coming off. However, I had pain around the same tooth for months. I couldn't eat on that side at all. I went back in for checkups to see if they can figure out what's going on. The head dentist told me to consider getting a crown since there seems to be a cracking on the tooth. They offered to cover the costs however I thought it was a bit extreme to get a crown from a routine filling. Over the next couple months, I would go back multiple times since the pain didn't go away. This included shaving part of the filling, redoing the filling, and trying to figure out my bite. And the final time I went there for a checkup, I was just told it could just be a neurological thing and almost made it sound like it was my fault and they can't do anything about it. The only reason why I kept going back was to give them the opportunity to fix what they had messed up. I ended up looking for another dentist and I told them my issue. They were able to figure what was wrong, and redid my filling. Now I have no pain.

My insurance changes and the office changing location did not help, but ya know.....No excuses. The truth is that I had not had a true dentist appointment in over 5 years ( save for a drive by cleaning from my brother's hygienist a couple of years ago.) Today was that first appointment in 5 YEARS and i left South City Smile smiling ear to ear. i was expecting it to be a painful and excruciatingly expensive visit, requiring follow ups,for cavities and a root canal as punishment for neglecting my dental health and not carrying dental insurance. To my surprise and delight, the appointment was pain free, no cavities and a clean bill of dental health. My mouth feels fresh and clean. Best of all, the bill for cleaning, exam and X rays was reasonable. Angelica and Lyndia are the sweetest. At South City Smile, the equipment and ambiance are state of the art. When i gagged at the xray bite wing thingies, the hygienist found smaller ones to accommodate my small mouth and made the x- ray process much more palatable! From the moment I arrived, he was incredibly helpful, kind, and professional. Going to a new dentist can be a little nerve-wracking, but he immediately made me feel comfortable and at ease. Throughout my appointment, Carlos consistently checked in with me to make sure I was okay and not feeling uncomfortable. I really appreciated how attentive and patient he was. He explained things clearly, answered my questions without making me feel rushed, and made sure I understood what was happening during each step. We have paid dearly with dental treatments not needed = create massive new problems which is a greater concern of mine than the money wasted. Finally, this family clinic is like a 'relic from the past', and in the Best of Best Way. There is warmth, heart and deep, deep understanding of biological mechanisms, of caring for your teeth by working WITH nature, not against nature (and for profit). From hating to go to the dentist, I love going here, I live feeling happy for the rest of my day. I actually feel guilty, that they essentially have to 'pay' for their honesty, by only doing what's medically warranted, instead of offering harmful treatments. Decades ago when my…read moreprevious dentist made me panic by advising me to go through a very expensive deep root cleaning, Dr. Hoo said it wasn't necessary. Never needed it. He is super friendly and considerate to his patients. As someone who is conscious about getting reinfected by Covid, it was great to know he takes very good precautions by wearing a N95 mask and having patients gargle mouthwash before the check-up. These are the qualities that will make a difference years later for everyone's health. Hope such good service will continue in the future!
