Came here with a friend for lunch. Hard to give a full review since we got the same meal of soup and the Kobe burger, so not much variety. We stumbled upon this place and had one of the best burgers ever. The ambiance is great and right near WTC.

This isn't really a speakeasy but it is in an old bank vault. The ambience is Wall Street, money, formal and a bit masculine. The furniture, the lighting and the ceilings all look old but classic. I actually came here for a work party and we had rented the back room and it was a really nice private party cocktail spot. I would definitely recommend for those looking for a spot. I appreciated the curtain that separated the private room from the rest of the restaurant. There is also an antique looking photo booth so people can take candid photos. They also had food platters out and an open bar, but one comes to these places to check out new venues, the ambience and the company, of course, so the food and drinks didn't really stick out to me. read more

I think anyone coming here needs to keep in mind that you might be paying for the experience. You walk into the place and it used to be a giant bank vault so it's a unique sight. The atmosphere is more upscale than what they're serving, which is not necessarily a bad thing. I tried the spaghetti carbonara and it was great, but I wish they offered more on the menu. We were also told by the server that happy hour ended at 6 (we thought it was 7) and she also mentioned pretty straightfowardly that the happy hour specials were not great anyway. read more

I can't rate this place higher than 3 stars. Even three is pushing it for me. Their vegetarian choices are limited with no veggie burgers on the menu, so I choose the salmon dish. The salon cost me 24.00 or so for lunch. My mother and my best friend bought ate burgers, but one was very dry. They gave my mother's medium rare burger to my best friend, so my mother hated it. The waitress also suggested items for the burgers, such as avocado and mushrooms, without saying that they would cost additional money. She made it sound like they came with the burgers. She charged $3.00 more for avocado and $1.00 more for mushrooms. Her lack of transparency was poor taste, and for that she received a lower tip. I would have been happier to spend my money on the street and settle for a falafel sandwich from a truck. The restaurant's decor is cool, but the place doesn't make up for the mediocre food. We went on a holiday Monday in the afternoon. The ambience was perfect: quiet-ish with some background restaurant bustle. The liver pate with mustard and chutney as accompaniments along with a healthy serving of gherkins and olives was generously-sized and tasty. The Cuban sandwiches ($20) were perfect and the side salad was flavorful. The fries were okay (get the salad if you like arugula). Definitely the place for a winter's day lunch in a convenient location. The service was adequate, responding to requests. The one disappointment were the house wines, but to give credit,I was asked if I would like to taste in advance. It is. It inexpensive, but you can step away from the hustle of the city and forget the outside world, which we did. I would definitely return. read more

Great atmosphere, great food. Server personality was good, however it took 10 minutes or more to get us water, silverware, and a menu. We were in the bar area and it was not crowded. Filet was decent, brussel sprouts were tasty, fingerling potatoes were perfect. My dining buddy raved about the beef rib, red cabbage, and mashed potatoes. Pickle backs are good, the pickle juice was a bit odd but did the job. The sticky toffee pudding was pretty good and I heard the cheesecake was devine. I will try it again. read more

Honestly, I did not expect much from a restaurant such as this in a touristy area in New York City. Trinity Place seems to be great for drinks, but not so much for food. They started us off with Hawaiian rolls that weren't heated up and quite stale. The menu seemed to cater non-vegetarians for the most part, which is fine, but I wish they had more options especially for the people who have this diet. Fortunately, they altered the dish for me, but it was not the best pasta I've had. This is a good place to have a meal out of spontaneity, but there is no "WOW" factor. read more

Excellent! We were visiting and looking for something in the area that would be an alternative to pizza. We found it! We ordered the 2 cheese 2 meat tray which was divine and the rolls with olive oil hit the spot! My daughter ordered the grilled cheese (magnificent) and the mac n cheese (eh) while my son and i ordered the kobe burger. The burger was great but, if you get it well done it can be a little dry so ask for condiments because they only give you ketchup. The fries are really cut up potato cubes which needed a little salt but were still good. My husband ordered the short ribs which he said were great. For dessert, the kids received free ice cream and I ordered the cheesecake (the cherries were a bit too drunk for my liking but the sauce was good as was the cheesecake itself) and my husband got the chocolate cake which he said was great. If you work in the financial district and are looking for a place that's not full of tools to discuss being masters of the universe look no further than Trinity Place a.k.a. Vault Bar. The Vault Bar is actually in a bank vault and the vault door is pretty impressive. The bar is dark, cozy, and intimate. Its the perfect place to meet up after work, with friends, or your secretary/mistress. The bartenders are attentive and friendly. Its an after work Wall Street crowd, but not the the type where you want to smack someone.... I haven't tried the food, but I've been told its just average. This is definitely a place to go to for the people, drinks, and atmosphere...basically a great neighborhood bar. read more

It's kinda cool to drink in a bank vault. Until you realize the ploy--they saved you the trouble of having to go to the bank..you can just leave your cash here before you leave! I've been here a few times, and every SINGLE time, my tab was something ridiculous for a week night. That aside,I like the atmosphere. It's full of potential husbands... I mean bankers. If you're into that sort of thing ;) Our bartender was a sweet heart, and comped us a round of shots. (Unecessary again for a weeknight!) she also had a great irish accent going on. It clears out around 9, as do most places downtown. By 11:30 (Jeesh) when I left, the entire area was preeettyyy dead. Overall, I like this place for an after-work cocktail. It's got an old-school Wall Street feel without the pretentiousness that seems to plague many of the spots down here. read more

A very nice bar that hides itself pretty well from the street. Indeed, I have walked by it many times unaware. Last night though, I noticed an elegant bar tucked below the street level, and it looked pretty inviting so we went in. If the entrance is unassuming on the street, it is fairly grand inside. Passing to the bar requires stepping through the open door of a bank vault. it is an impressive sight, and it really sets the tone. They have a cocktail menu, but I opted for beer instead sticking with the Lagunitas IPA (a microbrew out of Petaluma, CA) at $6 for a draft. They also had a menu of small bites which intrigued me. I went for the full sized Kobe burger ($16), and it proved to be an outstanding choice, far exceeding my expectations. The sandwich boasted a plump burger with nice color, perfectly cooked to medium rare. It was topped off with caramelized onions and bleu cheese. The bleu cheese was sharp and of obvious good quality; I found it aggressive, yet it did not overpower the Kobe beef. The bun was substantial and held up well to the burger for the duration. Beyond the burger, I was served a salad of mixed greens and sundried tomatoes as well as a serving of potatoes rosti. I was not taken with the potatoes, but the salad was enjoyable. In all the burger was strikingly good, and will be reason enough alone for any future visits. Recommend. read more

Oh Trinity Place. like so many things in this bizarre neighborhood, your compelling qualities are undermined by some problematic aspects. decor. the vault door and dark wood and red fabric decor are sexy. unfortunately the TVs (is it a sports bar or a restaurant?) and atrocious soft-rock basically ruin the vibe. Food: the kobe beef burger and caramelized onion tart are true winners. other items are less exciting. Service: consistently lame. Clientele: boring and homogenous. In short - I wouldn't make this place a destination, but if you're in the neighborhood it remains one of the better options. read more

We just wanted a light lunch in a nice atmosphere. The service started out slow but once it got going, it was quite good. The food was amazing. We had the butternut squash soup & clam chowder with rye bread. We shared and we both loved both soups & the bread. Atmosphere was lovely and wine list was pretty decent. We were in Battery Park & didn't know any "good places" to grab a drink. Yelp App on iPhone directed us to Trinity. It was a good experience. We started out with wine, beer & their special Sangria/Champagne drink that all happened to be at happy hour prices.... BONUS! Problem was the waitress took FOREVER to get our drinks & we actually had to flag down another server. We soon got our drinks & ordered some appetizers. I read other reviews that said Don't Get Food here - but we must have ordered the right things b/c it was ALL good. We tried their kobe burgers, kobe pigs in a blanket, Lobster BLTs & gruyere flambe tart. We liked ALL the food & would go come back again. Be sure to check out my pictures. Came here for lunch with a coworker. We sat at the bar and had a drink (omg so happy they have Koppaberg Pear Cider here!), their gorgonzola & ricotta ravioli followed by the warm chocolate cake for dessert. The staff were all very attentive, polite, and warm. Ambiance is lovely and very clean. Food itself was delicious and arrived quickly. Prices are one the pricier side (as per the neighborhood), but a good spot for a special occasion or business lunch. Favorite so far has been the pulled pork slider, but I don't think I could stomach more than one. Nice dark decor. Great service. Came here on a Friday night and had a great time! Although we arrived after the happy hour technically ended, our first round of beers was at the happy hour price. Nice beers on tap, and a GREAT selection of bottled beers that were priced reasonably considering some of the high alcohol content. The atmosphere was very enjoyable, a lot of young, sharply dressed people, all seemed to be having a good time. Music was great: The Clash, David Bowie, and plenty of other awesome 80's jams. We started at the bar and then moved to a booth, which was no problem (but the booths in the bar area are for drinks only). Service was great, our waitress was very nice and efficient. Stopped in for a late dinner on a Wednesday night and grabbed a seat at the bar since I was dining alone. Bartender was very friendly and made recommendations for both food and drinks. I ordered the Chicken Under a Brick and a draft beer. This is an entire young chicken grilled with pan sautéed potatoes and green beans. The chicken was incredibly moist and delicious, but bring your appetite. The potatoes were quite good as well and the beans perfect. I spent a bit more money than I had hoped as most of the drafts are $8-9 which is probably getting to be standard in the city, but still more than I see elsewhere. The services was attentive and fast, though it wasn't terribly busy the night that I was there. If the pricing wasn't so high I'd have given 5 stars, but for the money I think you can find better value. Finally, the location is really great, and the bank vault entrance is pretty dramatic. My wife & I held our wedding reception here at Trinity Place in May and we were forever at ease for the night with the amazing staff and service that we were provided with. I came here with co-workers for happy hour that we haven't had for a very long time. At least, I had not been able to partake in any for a while, and although my stay was brief, it was great. I am slightly partial because I never had to pay for my drinks - the night I went was when they were doing a drink promotion until 7 pm, so I just opted for 2 free drinks. Otherwise, drink prices during happy hour aren't too steep. No complaints with service. The place reminds me of a nice English pub that one would find in the UK - definitely not the grubby kind. Trinity is the type of place that would be packed on Wednesday or Thursday nights after work with nearby bankers, lawyers, and other professionals. Next time, I ought to stick around a bit longer to fully enjoy the vibe. I can't quite account for any of the food, so this review is solely based on drinks, service, and ambiance. Went here on a Monday night while in town on business, as it was one of the few open after Hurricane Sandy. ATMOSPHERE: Dark. The bar is located in the "front" of the restaurant, and is almost unbearably loud after 6 pm (don't know if that's a good thing in a small confined space?). Diners are led through a vault door, apparently an original bank vault - ask your server if you want details - and sat in a fairly small dining space, dimly lit, and suprisingly quiet! There isn't much to look at once there, other than each other, so if you aren't there with a date or someone you like eat elsewhere to avoid discomfort. FOOD: A relatively small menu, higher priced (nothing under $16 a plate here). We had: 1) Cheese & Charcuterie Board - a selection of two meats, two cheeses. The platter came, and the selections (recommended by server) were decent. The tray also came with a dab of spicy mustard and some olives, which added a nice touch to the sampling. Would I write home about a $16 anitpasti plate? Not so much... I think they're a bit overpriced for this choice. 2) House Cured Duck Confit with Winter Risotto - I swapped the Duck for Chicken, and this dish was also just decent. The risotto was just barely overcooked, and the mushrooms were soggy, which made for an odd combination in my mouth. To top it off, the normal plate costs $22 - they charged me that and an extra $6 for the chicken, making it a $28 dish (really?? Chicken costs more than duck? Where's my extra meat then??) - I would not order this again, purely based on ridiculous cost 3) Trinity Kobe Burger - Didn't live up to its name... the burger tasted like ground beef, not Kobe, and the bun was somewhat dried out. This was a waste of $18 ($2 for cheese... really?). Save your money and go to Burger King for $4 and get it your way if you need a burger fix. SERVICE: Decent. Our server was knowledgable about the menu, but indifferent about our satisfaction, and hard to find when we needed new drinks, napkins, or the check. VALUE: Poor. Just because you operate a place with a gimmick in the financial district of NY does not give you license to overcharge for somewhat mediocre food. Eventually they'll have to make a decision to either the adjust the pricing or up the quality of meals. read more

Lunch was uneventful as the twice ordered lobster bisque was anything but creamy. The Lobster BLT was satisfying but the accompanying salad was boringly drab. Tasteless - one wondered why bother? The Meatball Sub was acceptable - nothing more. Service - while pleasant - was a bit indifferent. Once finished our soup dishes stayed at our table (our server passed numerous times) until our main courses arrived. Inexcusable. Had a wonderful time here. Make a reservation (they're on OpenTable) and try to get into the back back room. You won't be disappointed. After all, you're in a bona fide bank vault. Also, I came here just for that attraction and did not expect the food to be great at all. I thought it was going to be kitschy, but they far exceeded my expectations! Everything was delicious! We ordered the onion tart to start. They were out of oysters at the time - 7pm - but I am very happy we had this as an alternative. Rich, creamy, like a savory cake. They are not playing around with the food here. Also, the wine was certainly up to par. I had the Malbec to go with my duck and it didn't taste cheap at all. Instead it was rich wine with some depth to it so, again, 5 stars well deserved. It paired nicely with the duck as well, which comes atop a significant helping of creamy risotto. And for dessert? Cheesecake! Creamy, not too sugary, and plated extremely well. Take your out of town friends to this place and they will be blown away. read more

This is my go to place for a nice business (or personal) lunch in the area. Feels super classy, but the food is simple and spectacular without any pretention. I have had the soups, pasta, salads and goulash. I would have gladly taken a second order of any fo them home. The service is attentive and I love being in the old vault atmosphere./ Convenient location to for those coming downtown for a meeting and a place that anyone will tell you was a good choice. I don't understand people who come here for lunch -- come at night for the insanely drunk middle-management crowd and gold-diggers. Make sure to wear a button-up in white/blue, slacks in equally boring shades of drywall. If that's your scene, then head to Trinity at around 22:30 on a Thursday, when sometimes the entire week's specials are available, and start asking people where they work. The enormous bank door is a definite plus, if you enjoy finding things like the largest hinge you'll ever see. This is one of the better pubs in the area, but like most places they are only open M-F. I used to live in Battery Park and decided to try to catch a drink here on a Saturday and came to find out they were not open on weekends. Beyond that, this is a great place to have a drink after work with some colleagues. It's always packed and has a bit of a more mature crowd than say, Ulysses. Their food is pretty good too - but it's strange.. you have to order everything in a minimum quantity of two. So you could order two pigs in a blanket if you so chose to. Whatever. read more

Really I say 3.5 stars. I came here for lunch one day with some work colleagues, as our office is two blocks away. Note that the restaurant entrance is actually on Trinity, not on Broadway as the address suggests. We roamed around on the coldest day of the year trying to find the entrance. First, I need to confirm, in case you thought the rest of the yelpers were lying, that you do in fact walk into a giant bank vault. I thought this was fabulous. Walking to the bar and restaurant area, I see red damask velvety wallpaper. Equally as fabulous. Leather on the booths (we were able to see the branding on our booth). Overall, love the decor. I had a tomato soup, because I was frozen. Delicious, not to acidic. For lunch I had the duck confit with risotto (you get a tasty duck leg). It was good, but not the best, not the worst. Definitely forgettable. Menu looked pretty good - apps include carmelized tart, cured meat dish, lunch mains include shepherds pie, cobb salad, hazelnut ravioli. AS for bevs, I only had tea...working :( Service was good, food was good but nothing special (forgettable), decor was excellent. I would only come back again for the novelty of the bank vault, not the food. Lastly - 5 people, = 3 duck confits with risotto, one shepherds pie, one ravioli, 3 soups = $140? (I think, I didn't pay the bill). I don't thing that was so bad as the servings were fairly large. The duck/risotto was $20, which I think is a fair price at a place like this. read more

Totally agree with MP about Trinity. I've gone for dinner three separate times (weekends and weeknights) and have never been disappointed. Their wine list is distinct and their menu is eclectic and incredibly well done. I had the duck twice it was so good -- tender and gamey (is that a word?), but not greasy, and paired with a melt-in-your-mouth mushroom risotto. Their mahi mahi is also flaky and perfectly tender, over a bed of spinach with a distinctly citrus flavor. My husband swears the buffalo burger is the best in the city - make sure you order medium or medium rare to keep it juicy. They'll also substitute a side salad for the fries at no extra charge. Tip: go on weeknights and ask for a table in the back for less noise. read more

One might expect the experience would peak with the unique setting for Trinity Bar and Restaurant within a former bank vault, replete with heavy vault doors on both sides of the bar. Thankfully, this bar continues to deliver with an excellent beer selection and great Kobe beef burgers (Mmm... Burgers). We took some friends visiting from Germany for dinner. My friend ordered a domestic beer without looking at the menu while I ordered a Paulaner Hefeweisse (an excellent beer from Munich that is not so common in NYC, but not impossible to find). He stared longingly at my beer throughout dinner, regretting his beer choice but thoroughly enjoying the juicy burger. The crowd is mostly from Wall Street, so the prices are higher than my favorite pub, O'Hara's, that is down the block. But the good beer and dark, intimate location is definitely worth checking out. read more

Victor and Maureen had a great dinner on Dec 27 at 9pm. Kimberly, the restaurant manager met us at the door and took a picture in front of the huge safe door that leads into bar and restaurant area. When seated, we met Brian who was our server for the night. Brian was able to help us customize drinks as well as fabulous food combinations. The bar staff and cook staff responded with flying colors and came out with outstanding food and drink. Kimmy sets a friendly, "can do" attitude that allows everyone here to work with "customer first" orientation. Brian was able to confidently take food and drink requests, knowing the bar and kitchen can handle it: extra crispy skin on the duck confit anyone? These guys made it happen.
