When I pictured eating in a Irish Pub in New York O'Hara's is where I always imagined. The onion rings are fried and crispy and the honey mustard adds lots of flavor to the onion rings that I have never tasted before. The BLT sandwhich had crisp fresh iceburg lettuce and the bacon was crispy and not over cooked at all. Multiple workers have checked on us and it was a packed restaurant. It feels like I am a regular as I am treated with love and a high level of friendly service. The atmosphere is perfect and feels just like a bunch of people who know each other in a bar. There was a small issue with something in a glass of the ice water and the server apologized twice and brought us a new glass no questions asked. That is a high level of service for a pub. Great service in this local pub. Quick, attentive and very pleasant. Absolutely loved the decor with all the patches and emblems from around the world. We started the meal off with their steak nachos which were pretty good, but I would have loved to see it come with sour cream and a bit of salsa. I had the Ten House burger cooked medium. It was ok. Nothing to write home about but the flavors were less than I'd hoped for. My date picked up the BLT which they thought was fair. O'Hara's is a legend in NYC and steps away from the WTC - Cortland subway stop, the PATH, the Oculus and the 9-11 Memorial. This makes it a tourist destination but you'll also find locals enjoying a pint and a burger. I've visited twice and both times had the burger salad. It was good. I've definitely had better burgers in NYC but the vibe and service here stands out. It's your typical NYC Irish pub - you'll find a lot of them. But it's anything but typical. First responder badges cover the walls and you can just feel the spirit of downtown NY around you. On a recent visit, I learned the owner has a giant photo album of photos and news clippings from 9-11 recovery efforts and clean up. The people at the table next to me were from Toronto and asked to see it. I glanced over at their table, not realizing at first what it was, and emotions swept over me when I saw the photo of the towers. "Wow," I said softly and then apologized for intruding. They invited me to look on with them but I couldn't ... (I still haven't been to the museum yet, either.) O'Hara's is a must-visit for locals or tourists. One of the few places in the Financial District that's open late night for food. Stopped for a few burgers 10:30 PM on a Sunday. The food is your average standard bar food. Much love and respect for O'Hara's. As someone that used to work at 140 Broadway prior to that awful day, O'Hara's was one of the places frequented after work. It's taken me nearly 24 years to make my way back down in that area. Several people told me what O'Hara's has done and secretly, I'm a sucker for a good ole Irish Pub. We were able to score two bar seats and once we sat and saw the patches, the emotions kicked in. I'm not gonna try and describe it, just go Now for the review. We were greeted immediately by the bartender once we sat. He came over and wiped down the area. Right there I could tell he would be good. Ordered a double Tito's and Soda with lemon and no complaints. Wife asked for a local beer, bartender provided a sample and she ordered. Can't remember the name but it was a lager. Started with a French Onion Soup, which had nice flavor. Kinda disappointed no toasted baguette, but still a very good soup. I had the Reuben and it was hearty and meat tender. We usually always run into people who know too. I'm glad we researched and found this spot as it was the perfect compliment to end a very somber morning at the 911 museum. The fact that this establishment focuses on celebrating the first responders, as evidenced by the many many patches from all around the world from first responders on the walls, is a very positive vibe. they do hold the tables in the bar for people who are ordering a meal and as we were ordering lunch, we were seated very quickly. It is typical tavern, fair, but I would say that my Buffalo chicken sandwich had more chicken in it than I've ever had in any chicken wrap before! the flavors were fantastic. That being said, I can imagine that between 1983 & 2001, this was probably a good place to grab a meal & a drink downtown, on a dark side street without much foot traffic or many other businesses in a historic pub atmosphere. However, given their proximity to WTC & the WTC museum, they are now completely & utterly overrun by tourists, in the worst possible way. The bartender also seemed angered & miserable about this, & was visibly rude & mean to them. I honestly don't blame him. If I worked here & had to deal with clueless (& worse) tourist throngs day in & day out, I would probably be angry & rude to everyone too. The prices here are definitely reasonable for the area, but if you are hungry, beware-the portions are what would be considered "European", & skimpy by American standards. If you are trying to cut calories, though, then it's perfect. It's also a free country, & you can just order more food if you want to gorge yourself. The ingredients are also relatively low quality, & the Buffalo wings had no seasoning or breading - only deep fried with a watery Buffalo sauce that did not stick to them. Very disappointing ! It's not hard to make decent Buffalo wings - please research this! In any case, the beers are cold & fresh, & the tap lines are clean, & the bartender is very attentive to keeping customers drinks flowing. This is a must do stop while visiting NYC. We understood the proximity to ground zero and had heard of some of the 9/11 history but to see it in person puts it into perspective. We had the honor of meeting Paul who shared with us some of the amazing stories that have taken place at O'Hara's and the book of memories is an absolute treasure. The people that have walked in and found refuge during the most difficult of times and then to come back and celebrate the wins of those heroes. Ugh. Speechless. This place embodies what I envisioned as the strength that we witnessed all those years ago. I could go on and on. There are a couple entrances. We didn't realize this until we left. We were at the bar at the upper level and it was a great environment for rooting on your football team. I got the Reuben and it's made with corned beef. Delicious! Before we left we purchased shirts to support the Tunnel to Towers foundation. We didn't know what to expect with all the crazy news about NYC but this bar was full of red blooded Americans. My wife and I just visited the 9/11 memorial and after the heaviness of the morning decided to have a drink and a snack. We sat at the bar, and was completely ignored by the bartender. He would talk to every other " Man" at the bar and would not give us the time of day. I asked for a menu and he looked at me and didn't even acknowledge me. I am not sure if he hates women, gays, or is just a complete douche bag. If you are not a middle age man do not go here. Definitely a must visit if you are visiting the 9/11 museum. This place really brings home the love that the locals have for their beloved New York / Manhattan. It's a great spot to hang out at lunch time with a cold beer with friends and the staff are attentive and lovely. Only slight downside is the food - I'll probably not order any food from there again. The Irish stew was okay but nothing to write home about and was obviously microwaved within an inch of its life as it was super hot on the outside and cold in the middle. We were a little confused as there are two ways to get into the restaurant. We came through the bar, but were told there were no tables available and several people waiting to be seated. That's when we learned about the other entrance. We were able to seat at the bar right away and you can order from the same menu, so that worked just fine. The bartender promptly took our order though he was extremely busy. Our food was delicious! I try to limit my one star reviews, but I have rarely been as offended or infuriated at an establishment as I have at this miserable excuse for a dive bar down near the Oculus. Popped in here on a weekday evening around 9pm to try to catch the end of a playoff hockey game after a nearby gallery visit, completely sober. My girlfriend and I each popped into the a restroom on way in, then I went to bar to settle in and order a drink. Apparently a bouncer followed my girlfriend to restroom, and harassed her while in there to get out, accusing her of bringing in an outside drink (completely untrue/inaccurate), followed her to me and grabbed me by shoulder to tell us he was kicking us out. I fortunately hadn't ordered and decided discretion was the better part of valor and a bar fight not the right move, but I have rarely been more irate, getting kicked out of a not even mid, wannabe Irish dive bar for no cause when I simply wanted to grab a Guinness and catch the end of a game. Fortunately found a nicer, welcoming hotel bar nearby for a real drink and actual hospitality and to watch a Rangers win (alas they of course would not go all the way), but I'll make it a personal mission to tell anyone I can get the ear of to avoid this rude, unwelcoming hellhole. read more

I have to admit, it was a little intimidating walking in as a woman alone as it was crowded and well as my first time in O'Hara's. The owner came up to me and greeted me and sat me at a table. Once there, I sat and just looked around at all the badges that were posted on all the walls and even the ceiling. It was just an impressive site and an extreme reminder what this bar/pub means to so many. The menu had a lot to offer. I had a grilled cheese sandwich with tomatoes and bacon. Oh my goodness, it was awesome. I actually ended up eating it with a fork and knife because it was that big and messy, Loved every bite. My waiter was nice and another waiter kept coming by asking if everything was good. The owner checked on me a few times as well. I absolutely appreciated it. I noticed the waitstaff all had the same shirts on and asked about them, my waiter said they were for sale. I bought two. I wish I had known about the scrapbook. Fantastic bar, amazing ambiance supporting first responders who bring an item from where they work to apply to the walls. This location makes it a little more special as it is very close to the World Trade Center Memorial given the ambiance. We had some mozzarella sticks and a burger along with some beer. All of it was what you would expect from bar food. The service was adequate we were the only two customers for about 30 min as we were there at the opening but as more patrons came in our service did not take a hit they staff was still attentive. read more

O'hara's Restaurant and Pub near 9/11 Memorial in Manhattan was one of my bucket list visits. Before my visit I had seen pictures of inside the pub and all of the walls lined with law enforcement and fire fighter patches and memorabilia. My visit on that day was for me amazing. Being a LEO myself, I felt like a kid in a candy shop, seeing all the patches from agencies around the world. As the story goes, a year after the towers fell, a construction worker and firefighter were at the pub. The construction worker rips off the patch from the firefighter's sleeve and hangs it on the wall, thus starting the unique tradition of the patch collection. Supposedly the pub now has over 7000 patches and memorabilia on its walls and ceilings. Service was excellent. We were seated quickly and our waiter told us there was an album we could look at. The album was like a time capsule the contained news clipping and photos of the area during 9/11. I asked our waiter if I could hang my department's patches on the walls. Our waiter gave me a marker and staple gun and told me I could hang them anywhere inside the restaurant. I just needed to find an open space somewhere. We all ordered burgers and fries and they were so delicious. The beer was also fantastic. If you're planning to visit NY and visit the 9/11 memorial and you're also a first responder, make sure to stop by O'Hara's Pub. You won't be disappointed! read more

Almost the entire time that we dined in they played excessively loud and obnoxious Mexican music during Christmas time in an American historic World Trade Center bar. The decor was fitting as first responder patches and flags from around the world were displayed around the restaurant. The food was plentiful and tasty.
