I come to Trio a lot. It's very convenient to where I live - and it smells great every time I walk/bike by. I figured it's time to update my review bc I really do like coming here. My fav meal here is the drunken pumpkin - but they generally only have it in October. Sometimes they have a homemade pastrami drunken noodles special - which is also a fave of mine - yum!!! I also absolutely love the Khao Soi. When I went this weekend I got the red curry salmon and it did not disappoint! I will def get this again. My boyfriend usually tries one of the daily specials or a steak. Everything he has ordered has been awesome too. We like that they have a lot of fusion meals to try on the daily specials. They also have awesome ice cream but I usually don't get that unless it is really warm out.

My friends and I were stumbling around the Fairmount park area, unfamiliar with what to get and we happened to come across Trio. The server welcomed us and accommodated our party of 5 easily. The atmosphere was quaint and overall clean, the bathrooms are inside the hotel next door and a little out of the way, but no biggie! The food was amazing! We all ordered different things and sampled one another's and honestly there was nothing I had that I didn't like. We started with the crab dumplings and chicken satay both of which tasted fresh and flavorful, the peanut sauce also complimented well with everything we dipped it in. The noodles were soft and full of spice as well and my chicken was tender throughout each bite. I was very surprised at how inexpensive everything was and that really satisfied me as well considering the amount of food we got. I can't wait to come back and bring more friends.

Seafood dumplings. Dry and doesn't taste good.

I've been here many times with company and alone. Sometimes, I have a craving for Thai food and this is the closest spot to walk to. It's not terrible food but surely it could use an upgrade. First time here, I was shock to see a white guy cooking Thai food. I tried to not judgmental but couldn't help to wonder. Some of dishes I had were a bit salty for me and they don't give enough rice. I had to ask for more. The Thai tea, I had better. The sticky rice mango dish was far from good. However, the restaurant tried to be authentic and I see it from the menu choices. One of the things I had there that I thought was really good was the stir fry string beans, which was a side dish. It would be nice to have this as a main dish but then it's leaning more towards Chinese food.

Special COVID review update alert. Trio has been a go-to for sometime, but excelled in a recent COVID delivery in all categories. Keep an eye on their specials. You SHOULD be ordering the Drunken Noodles with pastrami if you like drunken noodles and pastrami. They make their own pastrami and it goes darn well in this staple dish. Their ratatouille is also chock full of fresh veggies and seasoned, marinated with a pan-Asian twist. Delivery was quick, and they followed the contact-free instructions. Trio is a must- have on your COVID delivery list and a mainstay on your everyday list.

Trio was okay. I can't say id be back because nothing i had really stuck with me. We decided to try out the appetizers. So when the waitress came (who was very nice btw) we said we wanted the beggars pouches, vegetable samosas and the pancetta spring rolls. We waited a while and we were the only people in there. While we waited i sipped on my Thai iced tea which was very bitter. The food finally came and we were missing the pancetta rolls and she brought us seafood dumplings instead. We weren't upset we decided to try them anyway. (Even though she should have said something). The seafood dumplings were gross, slimy and mushy. the beggars pouches were delicious and I've had better vegetable samosa. After we ate everything we weren't all that satisfied. So if i happen to go to the museum again maybe ill try an entree but i really wasn't impressed. The fact that no one was there should have been a sign.

$13 Pad see ew Drunken noodled veggie and tofu. Mediocre at best..

The service was attentive, and every dish was beautifully presented. We ordered the grilled prawns, goat curry with turmeric rice, crispy rice cakes, and the signature purple dumplings. The prawns were fresh and flavorful, the goat curry was rich and tender, and the rice cakes and dumplings were both unique and delicious. My only downside is the value. The portions were on the smaller side, especially considering the price, so it didn't feel like the best value for the cost. That said, the quality of the food and the ambiance made it an enjoyable experience. Overall, I'd recommend Kalaya if you're looking for creative, authentic Thai cuisine and a great atmosphere--just be prepared for smaller portions and higher prices. I'd definitely come back to try more dishes.

Now onto the food! We ordered the Sexy Shrimp appetizer, Pad Thai, Dan Dan Noodles! The Sexy Shrimp appetizer was good but we weren't really a fan of the dipping sauce that came with it. It was like a chipotle dipping sauce but I think the a traditional Thai Sweet Chili would have been better. But my, my, my the Pad Thai and Dan Dan Noodles were Phenomenal! The place itself had decent parking out front, I was seated immediately & provided water while waiting for the rest of my party. It was pretty cozy inside. It always sounded odd when people spoke of how amazing their cheesesteak eggrolls are, yes they're a staple Philly food item but still a little odd for a Thai place. I get it now. The cheesesteak spring roll is superior to any cheesesteak roll I've ever had. The spring roll wrapper just makes it so much lighter & crispier & than the inside? Perfection, even when it's scorching your mouth. The chicken puffs were also delicious, especially in the sauce. Someone at our table may or may not have been drinking the green curry like it was soup & we couldn't blame them, it was that good. Highly recommend the pad Thai with shrimp. The thai iced tea was also a 10/10. This is one of those places where I left leaving a little full but oh so content. Can't wait to try more.

From the food to the service, every part of the experience felt thoughtful, intentional, and genuinely memorable. It's the kind of restaurant that reminds you why dining out can be so special. The space itself is cozy, intimate, and full of character. The unique design creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to settle in and enjoy every course rather than rush through the meal. The service deserves every bit of a 10/10. All of the servers were incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and passionate about the menu. Since several dishes and ingredients were unfamiliar to us, they took the time to explain each one, answer our questions, and offer recommendations without making us feel rushed. That guidance gave us the confidence to step outside of our comfort zone, and every recommendation paid off. We ordered the Mawn Noodle Soup, Grilled Saht Koh, Mahope Samut, Steak and Prohok, Thai Crab Fried Rice, and ended the evening with the Funnel Cake. Every dish was beautifully plated and packed with bold, balanced flavors. The Steak and Prohok was refreshing and full of flavor in every bite. The Grilled Saht Koh had a perfect char and was cooked beautifully. The Mahope Samut was exceptional, with tender, perfectly seared scallops. Both this and the Saht Koh were perfect starters. The Mawn Noodle Soup was incredibly comforting with layers of flavor and easily one of the highlights of the meal. The Thai Crab Fried Rice was another standout--light, fragrant, and loaded with fresh crab, making it much more than just a side dish. And somehow, after such an incredible meal, the Funnel Cake still managed to steal the show. It was the perfect ending: crisp, indulgent, and not overly sweet. It's easy to see why MAWN has earned such a loyal following. Exceptional hospitality, creative dishes that are executed with precision, and an atmosphere that feels both relaxed and special make this one of the best dining experiences I've had in Philadelphia. We'll absolutely be back, and next time, I'll be ordering the dishes we loved while making room to explore even more of the menu!
