I live right down the street and wanted Chinese for dinner because we don't normally have it. Man on man, wishing I would've went to Bojangles, McDonald's, anywhere else near by. Lol I placed an order online. When I got home, I had general taos "chicken" instead of shrimp. I put chicken in quotes because whatever that was.. was not good. It got thrown away immediately. After placing my order, I was told it'd be about 20 minutes. 30 minutes later I received my order and drove a mile &a half home. Opening the containers, the main dishes were luke warm and the egg rolls were soggy. I will not be going back. read more

Hit or miss. Last time, about 2 months ago, everything in my large order was great. This time they got my order wrong, forgot to give me the egg roll with my combination dinner, and did not completely close the lid on my soup, so unfortunitly 1/4 of it ended up at the bottom of the to-go bag. Sweet and Sour Chicken overcooked and Crab Rangoon have a measly amount of filling. And I see they recently raised most of their prices. Probably won't return. read more

This is our 'go to' Chinese carry out restaurant for our family. Everyone has something they love! I love their steamed dumplings and hot and sour soup! This is a small family business and they are working incredibly hard to continue their business safely. Communication is hard but be kind and patient... they very sweet! Very deceptive business practices. Called to place an order and they did not indicate how long the wait was. Waited over an hour before eventually cancelling our order. When I called back under a different number and asked how long the wait was they were telling people 30 minutes. They were also having people pay when they first came in but not telling them that it was an hour wait. Can certainly understand that they would be busy but honesty is the key and there was none of that going on here. When I asked why he was telling people 30 minutes when the wait was an hour, he simply said everyone was waiting an hour. Very frustrating. read more

I'm not sure if they're just struggling bc if Covid but this place has been really shady lately! The food is great but I would advise you to pay attention to the price of the items you order and the total your order comes to. The customer service is also horrible. I literally got yelled at for asking a question about adding something to my order when I went to pick it up. "That's not what you said" is the response that was continuously yelled at me. Well I was in the area & decided to try this place! It wasn't good @ all the wings were overcooked & greasy I. And believe they actually would sell something like that!!! The shrimp egg roll was horrible hard as a rock & no flavor....Shrimp rice noodles tasted like it was old no flavor just disgusting!!! Triple Eight is a prime example of a fantastic hole in the wall Chinese takeout place. Tiny little place hidden away in a small shopping center on a not so busy road- but you know that means it'll be great. The food itself is what you'd expect from Chinese takeout, albeit a bit better than other places in my opinion, and the pricing is ludicrously cheap for the quality and amount you get. Wow! I popped in for some hot and sour soup on a cold night, not sure what to expect and it was the BEST hot and sour soup I've ever tasted! In addition to the usual mushrooms and tofu, this spicy soup also had slivers of celery, carrots, and onion. I think I've found a new place for soup! The cashier was very friendly, and although I had a small order, she appreciated my patronage. I will definitely return. read more

I last had triple eight about two months ago. Ordered our food and went to food lion we were told 15 minutes. We came back after 20 the kid at the register said wait it would be done soon. I ask if the bag on the side was mine he smiled and said no. I told her it best not be my food noone else was in the restaurant. Now three different people came in to order. The best was hot and sour soup yummie General toes chicken head too much breading on it, tasty but too much breading. Shrimp chop Suey and shrimp fried rice was good I added 5.00 extra shrimp to each one I love shrimp it made it really good. I was disappointed that they didn't have beans sprouts I always add extra bean sprouts to shrimp chop Suey and shrimp fried rice. When I order shrimp fried rice I always get them to add a extra egg and bean sprouts, and extra shrimp it really makes it yummie. The Flavor is great there. My gauge, if you will, for good Chinese food is the hot and sour soup (my favorite). They have one of the best around...homemade hot mustard, hot oil and soup noodles. A plus for me. This review concerns the customer service I received at my last visit to Triple Eight 2 on Chester Road. My family and I have been customers of this business for the last 8 years and have experienced friendly and caring service. Unfortunately, the clerk wearing a hat who was taking orders on my last visit on July 1, 2016, did not exhibit good customer service. I had made my order and while paying, I began coughing and choking. I asked the clerk for a glass of water. He said that there would be no ice in it. I was still coughing and told him I just wanted water. He said "Wait til I take the next customer". There was only one customer in line behind me. The clerk should have served the water when I asked. There is usually a large orange cooler of cold water with styrofoam cups on the counter. There were neither on July 1 around 4 or 5 pm. I called to the people working in the kitchen asking for some water because I was in some distress. The woman who has always been the lead gave me some tepid water in a cup. I drank it and my coughs subsided. I was quite humiliated and angry. My husband came in from the Food Lion next door and I told him what had happened. We did not complain but I was very disappointed with what was my favorite Chinese carryout. I always admired the friendliness of the woman and how her children helped out at the business. A change of personnel can make a big difference in the atmosphere of a neighborhood business. This clerk needs to know that there are other carryouts where there is good customer service. Bad experiences mean customers will associate the business with the unpleasant event and will not return. read more
