I can say that in two years of learning about reefing, I've only scratched the surface of knowledge in the hobby. But I can safely say that greatest wealth of knowledge that I've gained, and the greatest service that I've received in that time has been from Jen at Salty Fins. With over 18 years of experience in the hobby and business, her and Mike have helped me to navigate and progress from my first 13 gallon Nano tank, to now my two pride and joy tanks - 60 gallon and 150 gallon. They've guided me right every time, from dealing with the uglies, managing water quality and parameters, helping build a healthy ecosystem, and doing the best to have tanks that I enjoy, but also provide a healthy habitat for all inhabitants. I spend a lot of time in the store just chatting with Jen and learning, and after two years I'm starting to get a grasp of it, and really understanding how these complex ecosystems work *after they get established*. Two months isn't even long enough for live rock to come alive... Jen has *ALWAYS* treated me fairly, and that's why I come back day after day, week after week. Not everything has always survived that I've purchased and put in my tanks. Sometimes it's my fault, sometimes it wasn't a healthy specimen to begin with, and just as life teaches us, sometimes it's not anyone's fault. It's just life. But I've always taken the time to talk with Jen about it, and we've always come to a satisfactory resolution. She's kind, understanding, and really, really wants the best for her customers and the living things that she sells. Swing by Salty Fins, get to know Jen, and start your journey with saltwater reefing, and you'll see what I mean. Great products and service, and a wealth of knowledge is why I keep coming back.

If you are considering a new salt water aquarium, AVOID Jacob @ Top Notch Tanks at all costs! I…read moreinvested $14,000 in a large tank & cabinet, and it has been the biggest nightmare of my life! Before I paid him for this project, he would answer his phone on the first ring. After all of the numerous nightmares during this install, he refuses to answer any of my calls or texts. He has left me hanging big time, and owes me several pieces of important equipment, as well as a refund on $2,258 worth of fish that I paid for, yet only received about half, not to mention that the few I did receive were about triple in price of what other stores charge! Plus, I am new at this hobby, and obviously have lots of questions about my new tank, yet Jacob refuses to take a minute of his time answer them. He moves on to new victims and forgets about his previous customers. After visiting several of the local fish stores, I heard many horror stories about Jacob and the way he runs his business. I wish I had done more research before I spent $14,000 with this guy! I have lost a lot of sleep over this ordeal. I am leaving this negative review, my first ever, so that others may save themselves from going through what I have gone through. Please save yourself a lot of trouble & heartache, and buy your salt water aquarium from another company!

Last week I…read morevisited the Washington City shop in the hopes of "magically" coming up with a new and improved food plan for our 10 year old kitty. I was fortunate to pose my questions to Kat, who is the manager of the Washington City location. She is amazing! She addressed my concerns and questions regarding our kitty's current diet and made suggestions. We are transitioning our kitty to a raw food diet and I am so thrilled with the progress and improvements so far. Kat is so friendly, kind, encouraging and knowledgeable. I'm grateful to have this resource in our area so that we can care for our sweet furry family members in the best way possible. I highly recommend the Bone Appetit pet stores and particularly Kat, the Washington City location manager.

It also happened to be the only place in town that carried my dogs prior pet food (small batch pets). I started coming here weekly about two years ago. Initially I really loved the customer service here. Some younger girls were working and not only did my pet love them- but I did as well. They were warm, helpful and outgoing. Then something shifted - I walked in one day and the owner Kate was discussing prior employee with another customer. Bad mouthing them and discussing how the had moved to work for her "competition". Maybe I'm just too "community over competition" oriented but this experience put a horrible taste in the mouth. Everytime I've seen Kate the owner after she's just very off putting, she's condescending and rude. Not a friendly woman in any form. There are other local pet stores in stgeorge that you could patronize that undoubtedly treat their employees, past employees and customers with more kindness. Also, the owner is VERY money oriented. It doesn't really matter how much you've been there-there used to be free samples which they now charge for.
