Happy National Smoothie Day! My granddaughter and I started our adventure for the perfect smoothie. We looked up smoothies on Yelp and Tropical Smoothie Cafe had 4 stars, so off we went. Unfortunately, they didn't know about any specials for National Smoothie Day, but that didn't stop us from ordering smoothies. We ordered the Sunrise Sunset. It had strawberry, pineapple, mango, and orange juice. One sip and I could feel the island breeze, hear the steel band, and wipe the sand off my toes. It was the best smoothie I have ever had. It was sweet, fresh, fruity, and a healthy guilty pleasure. The place was packed and they offer lots of sandwiches and wraps to go along with your smoothie. Parking is a little tricky because they are doing construction on Elm Street, but we parked on the street and we were okay. The service was good and I enlisted my granddaughter's help in taking pictures. A future Yelper in training and she gave her input to the review. I would definitely go back and order a sandwich to go along with our smoothies. It is not cheap, it runs about $6-$7 a smoothie. But, Yelp has a check in order, so they take $1.50 off of one. I love the food. This location does not have their act together though. God forbid there's something wrong with your online delivery. These people never pick up the phone! Door dash couldn't reach them, I couldn't reach them. I've ordered enough from them while I am at work to have one wrong order delivered, an item missing from my order, and my food not getting delivered (DoorDash fault, not the cafe's, but not picking up phone to get refunded) on separate occasions. This is my favorite juice bar in Bethesda! The portions are huge for the amount that you are paying. I'd recommend getting the smoothies without the sweetener added (they are too sweet for my taste with the added sweetener). Also make sure that you check this place out in the early morning (before 9AM) when they are running their happy hour special- all of the smoothies will be half the price! My favorite smoothies are the following: - Island Green - Can't go wrong with a classic green smoothie filled with superfoods. - Triple Berry Oat - The oats in this smoothie make the smoothie a little chunkier so don't get this if you want a smooth consistency. But the added oats definitely make you fuller for longer (get this if you want a breakfast replacement). - Acai Berry Boost - Classic berry smoothie. I had just wrote a review for TSC in Columbia this morning and I started to crave it again. This location is only 7 minutes from my job so I ran over for breakfast to satisfy the craving. I came to get a Paradise Point + kiwi and the first thing I asked was if Happy Hour was still going on, the cashier said the store didn't do Happy Hour. I asked is it different for each store since I went to the one in Columbia the day prior and they clearly had it, she just shrugged. Okay....cool. I just moved on to order my meal. I went to Check In on Yelp & a discount came up for $3.49 for any smoothie popped up. I showed the cashier and she wasn't able accept it. I asked why and she said it's not from them. I explained to her that this discount is from TSC... through... Yelp. She was frazzled and I was completely patient because there was a slight language barrier, however I was running late for work so I let her know that I understand you're trying to figure this out but I'm pressed for time. She called someone (I assume a fellow employee) explaining the problem and I just asked for a manager to expedite the process..no one was there except her. The other employee was running late and I had to wait for her. The other employee came after 7 minutes and she came to the monitor and told the other woman it was the happy hour option...the one that this store didn't have as she said earlier. The other employee rushed to fix my order and she DID NOT WASH HER HANDS. The sign behind clearly said employees MUST wash their hands. I don't care if she used tongs to get my fruit. It's against policy and it's disgusting to touch customers food with dirty hands. I didn't say anything since I was pressed for time and I was already over it. It was a horrible experience. Listen, I understand language barriers first hand, but I waited for a smoothie and breakfast sandwich for 35-40 minutes. Something that's supposed to take 5 minutes. Horrible experience. read more

Cranberry Pecan Chicken Salad Sandwich, Hummus Veggie Wrap, that I was prepare to battle for until the ranch dressing presented itself, & Thai Chicken Wrap. Chips & Smoothies, with a double consumption of the Blimey Limey, consisted of Strawberries, Pineapple, Orange Juice & Lime. Others on deck were the Sunny Day; Mango, Banana, Orange Juice, Kiwi & Paradise Point; Strawberries, Banana & Pineapple. Not sure how an unattended attendee was consuming their Artisan Tacos of Korean BBQ Steak & Cilantro Lime Fish...duly noted TSC is more than just a Smoothie place. Even with the order being delivered by 3 people was late, the turn out from the majority was satisfied. Pros: *The smoothies are delicious *The ingredients seems really fresh *The store itself is nice and has ample seating *I got this Peanut Butter, Banana, Granola, Honey Flatbread sandwich thing and it was freakin' delish! *It's on Bethesda Row (It's close to my apt) *The smoothies are a really nice size *I think the price is pretty reasonable. $7.05 for the smoothie (But it's larger than your typical smoothie). And compared to the $9.50 small juice place right around the corner... there's no question which one is the better deal. *I just found out that they have a check-in offer on Yelp for a $3.50 smoothie!!! *They have a really wide variety of smoothies *The store is usually very clean Cons *I won't even go into these minimal cons, as the pros far outweigh them. In a perfect world happy hours would be 24/7. Well now you can add 7 am until 10 am at TSC. All smoothies are $3.50. We chose the avocolada with avocado,pineapple, spinach, kale, coconut and lime. The second drink was the chia banana boost with coconut, almonds,dates,chia seeds, banana and peanut butter. Both were delicious. Both were generous 24 ounce servings. However, both had more sugar than necessary. I don't know if less sugar or no added sugar will get me to the right place, so some experimentation will follow. Go here probably 3-4 times a week. The service here is always on point. Time from arrival to leaving is maybe 3 minutes. The people working are very friendly and the smoothies taste great. Be sure to ask for them with no added sugar otherwise they add a quarter cup of sugar which is really not needed as the smoothies are plenty sweet with the fruit in them. If you go in the morning they have a happy hour which means you get almost any smoothie for $5. They also have a rewards system where you get $5 after spending $55 you just have to download their app. read more

I love this place. The smoothies are amazing. The wraps are great! My ONLY issue is that i specifically said no pickled onions on my wrap and they ended up on it. Even the receipt said "no pickled onions". Thankfully, I'm NOT a picky eater so i ate my wrap anyway! Cause it's delish!!! My favorite smoothies hands down. However, the employees need a kick in the ass because it ruins the experience. Good thing is that you're only there for less than 10 minutes with minimal interactions but still, those 2 minutes of ordering and paying are enough of an impression to leave a good or bad taste in people's mouths. At first I was extremely disappointed after waiting 1 hour for a delivery that usually takes at most 20 minutes. The delivery person shows up with someone else's order. Prior to that, an order made earlier took 2 hours long so that was cancelled. This is my favorite place so it's disappointing when your order is incorrect and/or missing items, which has also happened recently. Instead of saying what I really felt when I didn't get my correct order, I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt saying these exact words: "Let's try this again shall we?" (via Doordash) and my personal favorite "You're better than this (via Uber eats). Don't let there be a next time... P.S. I spoke with someone and they told me that it needs to be handled through doorsDash but it was odd because I ordered from their WEBISITE. Horrible customer service. My curbside order "never came through" and I waited outside while the girl kept going back and forth to check the tickets that had printed. It had been 30 minutes since my credit card was run (and I got an alert from my bank), but she just kept shaking her head and asked me if I had the right location. Twice she walked away and closed the door on me while I was still talking. I triple checked that I had ordered from the correct location on their website. I came inside (even though we are supposed to be social distancing and I preferred to wait outside) and good thing I did because she wasn't even working on my order. It seemed like she was just gonna let me sit outside forever and was going to do nothing to help me. So annoyed. It didn't help that I am 9 months pregnant and I was STARVING.
