The place is toxic, stressful, and annoying. It was fast-paced and typically understaffed and usually almost impossible to take a break on 8 hour shifts. I would work at 9:00 and don't get a break until 2:00. That's 5-6 hours of endless work with no break.. Pay begins at minimum wage and you won't make more than 9$ unless you become a shift manager. Honestly it can be hectic. If you are on smoothie line by yourself during a rush, it's tiring. Some coworkers will always get you to do smoothies so they dont have to. And don't give a damn. They expect you to learn everything and do everything yourself. And if you mess up then that's a big issue.. It's always crowded with people. Most people just stand around. And most people complain all the time because the smoothies take forever to make. You can make an order there or online and still have to wait 20-40 minutes for your smoothie to be made... so don't assume you make an order online and expect your food to be ready at the moment. It's super tense. And if management didn't like you or felt threatened by something that you were doing they wouldn't give you hours, they wouldn't even tell you what you did wrong exactly. Any idiot employee can put a complaint about you or talk shit about you without any reasoning. And manager will call you out for that without giving you the chance to talk about the situation. And they will throw you out in an instant. Or they'll fire you without reasoning. Then block your contact for good. Lots of favoritism... and racism.. Also they will try to have the least amount of people there possible to run the store. So because they are too cheap to pay to have another employee on the clock, they will burn you out by having you do too many things at once and demand you do it quickly. Oh and the owners and how they treated their employees. They were never on the same page which makes the job difficult. They pride themselves in being private people...however they need to learn that when issues arise with employees it's the employees right to know what's going on. There's a difference between being private people and being cowards... Pros - good smoothies and food Cons - terrible company. Not enough pay. Not enough hours. Terrible employees and managers. I came by Tropical Smoothie Cafe after my workout instead of going to my usual smoothie spot. Although the cashier was efficient in getting my order in she was not very welcoming and when I asked if there were any options to add into my smoothie she didn't know what I was referring to. I asked her if they had whey protein to add in and she said yes but did not go into any other available options. Looking at their menu in the store I am not sure if they had add ins listed but I did not see anything. The wait time wasn't extremely long but it also wasn't very quick either. Convenience wise it is in a good and easy to access location. I don't know if I will be a regular here though because I did feel that aside from the service not being that welcoming the price was higher for my smoothie compared to other local spots in Boynton and the smoothie is the same size that you can get for less at other smoothie joints. read more

Tropical smoothie cafe is one of my favorite places ever, tastes amazing, always had pleasant experiences, healthy, etc. HOWEVER, I had never ordered from this location before today (April 30, 2020). I placed an order of 4 sandwiches and a side of chips. I did a delivery due to COVID-19 and me not wanting to leave home. My sandwich (Turkey Bacon Ranch club) is my favorite and I always order it, so I know how it's supposed to be made. Today, mine came burnt and looked nothing like all my previous TSC orders. I also had put in the delivery instructions and messaged the drive to ensure that the chips were BBQ and not original and both were ignored and I was given original. I ordered my fiancé the Buffalo Chicken Wrap and the wrap is extremely tiny, looks nothing like a wrap and doesn't look anything like any of my past orders as well as slightly burnt. The first bite was also almost nothing except tortilla with the way they wrapped it. Completely unacceptable. I can't comment on the two Cuban sandwiches I got because it was the first time I've ordered them. I recommend the Wellington TSC if possible and I will not be recommending this boynton location. Please avoid unless burnt food and the wrong order is appetizing to you. Edit: I wouldn't even give this place a one star. I called and spoke to the manager about the situation, she had me come in and replace everything for free. Then as I was waiting for the food, the girls in the back were talking crap about me, about how I was only complaining for free food, how there was nothing wrong with my order previously (see pictures below, obviously there's issues). I waited for my food, checked it, then told them that the next time they want to talk about a customer (and call them a liar, a bitch, etc) to ensure that they couldn't be heard. You won't have to scroll very far through these reviews to see that the service here is slower than a herd of snails charging through molasses. However, because this place is across the street from my house, and it's the only one in Boynton, I'm here very often. So here's the full run down on this place: Quickness: 2 stars. 20 min. minimum wait time for a smoothie. Every time. Many smoothies have roasted bananas. Goodness knows if that adds to the delays in getting them. And when I see staff coming in and out of the kitchen, there is zero pep in their step. Niceness: 3 stars. The staff is not unfriendly- but I've never heard an apology for a wait, never hear staff speak more than one sentence to each customer, and never witnessed any niceness that would take the service to a level of excellence. Today though, the girl that made my smoothie did come out of the back room and tell me thank you and to, "Have a good day ma'am", so that was pretty cool. Quality: 4 stars. I've had every smoothie there. My absolute favorite is the Chia Banana Boost smoothie. It has Chia seeds, roasted banana, almonds, dates, coconut, oats, cinnamon, and your choice of either peanut butter, peach, or strawberries. I go with the peanut butter or peach....fantastic. To date this is the best smoothie I've ever had. I've tried their food several times as well, and it's always been fresh. Only thing I would say is that their jerk chicken wrap tastes more like a BBQ chicken wrap than jerk chicken- so nothing special there. Pricing: 4 stars. Not very pricy, and you get large portions (and there is only 1 size of smoothie, and that's ginormous). Atmosphere: 4 stars. This place is always, always, busy; but not noisy. And the soothing reggae music on the speakers makes the 20 + minute wait not as irritating. So that sums it up. Basically, if you want the best smoothie of your life, some fresh and lite food, don't care about making small talk with the staff, don't have any time constraints, and don't get irritated with long wait times, go here. Terrible. Never coming back after this last visit. We ordered our smoothies at 3:23PM and finally received them at 4:03PM, literally 40 minutes later. To add insult to injury, they were completely watered down... nothing like the tasty smoothies I had experienced here in the past. They were definitely busy, but there was no hustle, so of course they were going to be backed up. The employees here on this particular visit must have been under the impression that they really were on vacation on a tropical island... the only reason they were so behind as far as I could tell was because no one was getting any of the orders out in a timely manner. The actual line to order was short, the group waiting to actually receive something could have filled a small auditorium. Maybe the ridiculous wait for A FREAKIN' SMOOTHIE would have been tolerable had the staff at least been courteous, but the sad truth is that the service here gets worse every single time, with snarky attitudes from almost every person behind the counter. And thats IF they even look up to say 2 words to you during any part of the process. My wife asked if she could have the chips included with our sandwiches (which came out like 20 minutes before the smoothies), to which the cashier responded with eyes rolled back and an attitude-filled sigh: "What was your order again?". Piss off, seriously. Look at some of the other reviews for similar experiences. It's a shame, because I really liked this place once and wished it well. I really never wanted to review a large chain before. I've done a couple smaller chains that are sit down restaurants but I really just have to finally get this off my chest when it comes to the Tropical Smoothie in Boynton. I'll start off by saying I really like their food and smoothies. The wraps and sandwiches have always hit the spot for me and while the smoothies are no Jamba Juice (damn do I miss the old Boynton location) they are quite good as well. Hell I might even say that the prices aren't bad. But that's really where all the nice things I can say end. The lack of customer service is beyond reprehensible. If you've read any of the bad reviews already here you know what I'm going to say. The employees move at a pace that would make a snail feel like Usain Bolt. And that's when they are actually working. I will see employees just standing around in the back, between the smoothie station and food station, just flapping their gums with the others. I have put in online orders on multiple occassions and still have to wait long periods of time once I arrive 30 minutes after the order was placed, just like the site says to do. And like others have said, it is bizarre to see a person that just ordered get their items before someone that has been waiting 15-20 minutes. They always have a now hiring sign in the window and boy do they need some fresh blood in there. My work has on a couple occassions decided not to go there again. Only a few months later to give them another shot. We will then be reminded why we don't bother. I really wanted to like this place especially since they have vegan meat substitute and Im always looking for vegetarian/vegan options in the area. The food was tasty and cheap but not amazing. After eating here a few times I realized I was always really thirsty. I went on to their website to look at the ingredients and nutritional values and was surprised by the amount of sodium, fat, cholesterol, and sugar in their food. As example, the Thai Chicken wrap has 1420 mg of sodium, 65 mg of cholesterol, 15 g fat and 14 g sugar. If you order a "healthy" smoothie like the health nut with whey thats 82 grams of sugar and 40 mg of cholesterol. Most items have similar nutritional values.
