I love Tropical Smoothie and have been to several locations. I am displeased with the cleanliness of this location. Also when I walked in the establishment I needed to use the restroom and went there first only to have to turn around and ask for a code . The floors are extremely dirty and I witnessed an employee take out the trash and go back to work without washing his hands. He did have gloves on ;however , SafeServe process is to wash your hands before returning to work. The staff was friendly, however they need to work on the cleanliness. The pictures do not even fully depict what I see in person . If you have never tried replacing blueberries for strawberries in the Bahama Mamma, give it a try! You will love it. read more

I'm not sure why this place got so many bad reviews. I came here for the first time today and the entire experience was fantastic from beginning to end. I was greeted as soon as I walked into the door, and the young lady helping me was really nice. The menu is full of choice, add-one and food items. I was very indecisive and the cashier patiently waited and gave me time to decide....without feeling riches. She even offered suggestions of popular items on the menu, which I found very helpful. Not to mention the store was immaculate.... Very bright, super clean with no sight of trash on the floors, tables or counters. Even the prep stations where your food is prepared was very clean and organized! A Thumbs up on the cleanliness and customer service factor that's for sure. During my visit, I tried a summer item that the cashier suggested was a very good popular item....the Watermelon Smoothie....and she was not lying!! It was on point! Full of real fruit watermelon flavor, and the perfect balance of mint to complete the combination. I added pineapple and whey protein to my concoction and immediately I wanted to book a trip to Mexico! LOL. I don't come here often, but just from the customer experience today this place gets a thumbs up from me. A return visit will be in order to try some of their other items offered. My kid came to get flatbread. Upon entering, the place has a pungent smell to it. It doesn't smell rotten, just strongly of probably cheese. The cashier was friendly and explained why they no longer had a specific smoothie (island punch) we wanted. The floor is pretty sticky. All other areas observed and touched were fine. We got 2 Island green and 1 detox island green. I prefer the regular island green because the ginger is overpowering, but if you just must insist on torturing yourself, lol go for it! An OK experience. Of the few times I've visited this location only one experience was actually inside of the restaurant. The others were in the drive thru. The drive through experience is quite slow. On some occasions the wait was 15-20 minutes. The smoothies are OK however I wish more sizes were offered not including the kids cup. Considering there isn't much smoothie competition from other businesses in this area this is a good go-to place for smoothies. I'll continue to visit for the smoothies however I'm not thrilled about the consistent drive thru experience. Give them a try. read more

I ordered a plant based meal on 08/12 through the Tropical Smoothie website to receive a call that there was no plant based meat. So, that means your website is not updated. Okay. I asked for a refund and the guy told me I had to call corporate (this has happened to me before but I thought they might've updated their website and processes). I call corporate just for them to tell me they'll send a email to the manager of that store to request one and they will get it with 15 min (doesn't really help if the manager isn't there which is why I couldn't get a refund right away in the first place). A day goes by and I haven't heard anything so I call this morning, 8/14 and ask to speak with the manager. Once again he is not there. I ask if there was any supervisor or duty and the lady tells me no. At this point I'm annoyed so I ask if there is only one person in the store designated to give refunds and she replies yes. I ask for someone's contact information and then she literally passed the phone to someone else and they both begin giggling. The girl who answered had to gather her composure and I could hear them both just continuing to laugh. She tells me the girl had to deal with something and had to go. How unprofessional is that? The new lady on the phone is now telling me that I have to call the Bethesda store to speak with the manager, who is Iglicio, if I want to get in contact with him. I call and he's not there just to get a lady to simply say, "Hello." I was taken aback and had to check if I had the right number. When I asked if this was Tropical Smoothie, with an attitude she goes, "Uh, yeah." Who are you all hiring?! This is highly unacceptable to me. Corporate can't tell me when I'm gonna receive a refund because they don't have contact with the stores. They can only send request. What is the point of corporate, then? And I should not have to track someone down just to receive a refund when the site wasn't update. I would've never ordered and gone through this AGAIN. I am highly disappointed in Tropical Smoothie and livid you employ people who think it's okay to pass phones and then laugh while customers are asking for refunds and to speak to a manager. Please know that you have loss a customer and I will be advising everyone I know to never order from any of your establishment again. I come here for my weekly protein smoothie after my workout. Customer service: I'm always greeted politely. 9/10 Smoothie: i think it's only tasted off (missing an ingredient) one time. All other times it's pretty consistent. 8/10 Time: my only issue with this location is how long it takes to get my smoothie. Going inside is definitely quicker than going through the drive through. The drive through takes about 20 minutes to get through. (This is an estimate as I've never timed it). 3/10 Overall. 6.7/10 i will continue to come for my weekly smoothie. read more

This is my second time coming g here and my last review should have been enough for me take my own advice and avoid this place like the plague but I'm hard headed. Anyway the drive thru system here is terrible. They don't move cars or take orders in a very expeditious manner. The cars in front of me sat at the drive thru machine for 8 mins before someone said can I help you. I sat for 10 and just pulled around to leave only to be mer with a line from the previous cars all waiting for their orders. So, now I have been stuck in line for a total of 15 mins with nothing to quench my thirst. This place SUCKS! Stay away! Especially if time is of the essence for you! This shouldn't get one star. I decided to stop and grab something quick for lunch, so I hit up the drive for a smoothie and a sandwich. The lines usually are pretty long, so be prepared to wait a bit. I got my favorite smoothie, a "hurricane." which is for a limited time only (I believe until April, according to one of the employees). I've tried many different smoothies at this location, all pretty tasty, by the way, but the hurricane is packed full of flavor & never disappoints. Hurricane smoothie-Passion fruit, pineapple, orange juice, and sweet dark cherries (420 calories) I also got a turkey bacon ranch sandwich, and it was pretty tasty. I paired my sandwich with a bag of Miss Vickie's Smokehouse BBQ kettle chips which was a nice compliment. Bacon ranch sandwich-Turkey, bacon, (no) tomatoes, romaine, swiss & lite ranch on ciabatta (560 calories) They also offer an edible strawberry or lime straw, but it wasn't offered to me today. I'll try the Thai chicken salad on my next visit. Overall, I give this place 3/5 stars. Customer service has not been an issue for me, and hopefully, it stays that way. The concept of this place is brilliant; however, the quality has severely diminished. I ordered a chicken Caesar wrap today and they are definitely making their wraps and sandwiches different now. I don't know if it's due to inflation and to save money, but it is awful. I couldn't even eat the whole thing, it tasted like a fake imitation chicken. I got a sandwich for a friend, and without even telling her my experience, asked out of curiosity, how was her sandwich she told me it tasted different. We always go to this location but today's experience was terrible. My girlfriend ordered our two smoothies, they were made, she went to the car and realized one of them was wrong. She went back into the store to have it corrected and they gave her a drink carrier to put both drinks in. As she was walking to leave one of the drinks slipped out of the carrier and spilled all over. One of the workers reprimanded the other saying the carriers needed to be doubled. They remade the smoothie and doubled the carrier and my girlfriend left. As she was walking through out front door at home the carriers gave way and both smoothies spilled all over the floor and walls. Disappointing to say the least. But I guess what was even more disappointing was when I decided to call the store to give them feedback the manager was dismissive. It seems the customer service is very poor and it didn't used to be like this. I've read some other reviews that complain of the lack of customer service after a change in store ownership. I have never had a bad meal at tropical Smoothie. I am trying to order everything on the menu at least once. This time I ordered a Thai chicken wrap with a side of corn and a Bahama Mama, half sweet. The wrap was the perfect balance of crunchy wrap, shredded lettuce and carrots, with tender chicken and a delicious Thai sauce. I love that the side option are varied. I opted to try the corn- delicately spiced and charred slightly. Yum! They have an awesome rewards system. It doesn't take many visits to have valuable rewards. [Review is pre-pandemic] Came here a couple of times because it was fairly new and there were several coupon promotions. I picked a smoothie and a wrap with a side. The smoothie was clearly not blended well and after drinking most of it there was something else left. Hard to say what exactly it was but it was not fruit. It was like some starchy clump. Wouldn't recommend. The wrap was just so-so. It also took a ridiculously long time for them to get my order out. You are able to pick up a side which could be either a cookie, chips, or fruit. You just pick it up your self towards the back. Though when I first came, nobody instructed me to do so. So when I got my wrap, I though they forgot to give me my side. So they just point to where I could choose the side myself. There is some seating inside but it is so noisy all the time with the blenders and whatnot. Just like most of the reviews, I would have to agree that this location is probably the worst I've ever visited. It is super sad because it is in the same plaza as the Gold's Gym. Quite naturally, a lot of patrons come from the gym to tropical smoothie to get something to eat after a great workout. First and foremost, to save you a BUNCH of time and alleviate headaches, use the app. They have returned to ordering inside, but that wait is just as long as the wait for the drive thru. Speaking of the drive-thru, it is often quite long. I do not advise you getting in the drive-through line unless you have an abundance of free time to sit and wait. As for ordering via the app, it is the best way for you to get your food. I would recommend ordering at least 10 to 15 minutes before you even want to show up. They are extremely slow inside, and I've often showed up 15 minutes after ordering and my food wasn't prepared yet. As for the staff, it's hit or miss. I've been there when the employees have great attitudes, and I've also been there when the employees have had bad attitudes. I totally understand that we are coming back from Covid, businesses are still working through resource constraints, and they are trying to do the best they can. However, I don't think this is the case for this location. It is always a full house of staff members on duty. One of the worst things that I've experienced quite often, there is no one who manages the orders that have been completed. I have often been told to wait for my food when it was already completed and getting cold. I've also waited for a smoothie that was already prepared. So please be mindful of that. Overall, there is a lot to be done to get this location up and running to minimum and viable business operations. read more

This was my first time at this location. I came on a Thursday evening around 7pm and it was super crowded. I think there is a drive through and it looked like there were cars wrapped around the parking lot so I went inside. Inside is cute and has a nice bar/eating area. When I got there I asked the cashier to tell me honestly how long it would take to complete my order because there were so many people there. He told me approximately 15/20 minutes. Since I wasn't in a rush I decided to wait. I've seen previous reviews about this location that weren't flattering but I can tell you, no one was rude...there was just a lot going on. Since they make the smoothies right at the bar area, you just get to see what I'm sure in most places takes place behind the scenes - rushing to get orders done, employees harried to get ingredients, and yelling/talking to each other to move the process along. My sandwiches came out about 5 minutes after I ordered which I was surprised. I had to wait longer for my smoothies but I think the order got lost because I reminded them about it. Since I was in the area, I decided to give them a try. Was opting to go through the drive thru, but noticed it wasn't moving, so I went inside. I have 1 person in front of me ordering and a few others waiting. I ordered a Açaí bowl, if you know, they are pretty much already made, except for the specified toppings they throw on top. This usually doesn't take long at all to prepare.. super quick and easy. There were many workers in there, roughly around 8 of them, some working and some pretty much waiting to do something(standing). I saw no one preparing the bowl, so after 20 mins, I asked for a refund. In the process, the cashier went to show I would assume the manager, and I'm not sure if she had just started preparing, In the middle of preparing, but the cashier said she will make, so I thought I would still have a wait. Next thing I hear is her hollering saying "it's done".. very unprofessional. Needless to say, she brought the bowl To me with an attitude! Ordering my food in the drive-thru was easy breezy, but then,wait for it, I waited 20 minutes to get to the pickup window. I asked the cashier what was going on that caused that long of a wait to pick up food her response was there are only two people upfront and a lot is going on. I can corroborate all of the other reviews about poor customer service, but I'll show grace because the customer service is friendly. I saw several customers having misunderstandings about their orders, and I also had a missing item. I ordered the avocalada smoothie, the Thai chicken wrap, and a side of kale/apple slaw. When I got back to my car, I noticed that my kale/apple side was missing. I walked back into the restaurant and spoke to an employee. She informed me that they were out of that side and that I could choose another one. It was a simple and painless, but I don't understand why they couldn't have just notified me while preparing my order. I believe that they were overwhelmed and banking on me driving away without noticing. The upside is that the employees are accommodating. I suggest that management works on ways to be more efficient.
