Honestly, the photo doesn't do it's justice. But theories nothing more refreshing than these smoothies. They are SO big and feeling I share it with someone every-time. We love the goodness but the mango one is also delicious. We have also gotten the kids strawberry and it's delicious. I really like this location because of the park up front spaces for kids to play and have fun for free and it's a nice neighborhood. Clean store. I wanted to use a coupon and the first girl had to get someone to help her. I guess not many people use coupons cause she fiddled around the register for a good 5 minutes. First and last time for us. I'm happy to have found another health-conscious / balanced meals oriented restaurant not far from home. Prices can be a bit high for what you get here, but I have convinced myself it's at least not some fast-food joint. As opposed to a strictly smoothie joint, they also have bowls, salads and wraps here just to name a few alternatives. The smoothies are unfortunately mostly powder based. There are a lot of add-ins for $0.99. I usually go for some form of protein when I find myself in here after a work out. The food is great - especially the wraps and flat bread sandwiches. On Tuesday nights they have a BOGO deal where you can get a smoothie and wrap, for example, for a great price (under $10). Clean restrooms and friendly and helpful employees. They're not usually packed and I don't usually have to wait long. read more

I have been recommended this place by a friend a few times and was excited to go. However, twice when I have tried to walk in there, during their posted business hours, the place was locked up and closed. I finally managed to pay a visit when they were open and it was quite busy. I ordered a smoothie and a quesadilla, it was good and came out quickly, but the cashier was very distant and seemed annoyed and confused that I was ordering, spoke very quietly and wasn't very nice. The set up is also quite odd, the first time I went in there I wasn't sure where I was supposed to place my order, but that may have been because there were a lot of people in there. It was clean, especially considering how busy they were, but it felt crowded. These guys are pretty quick when making your drink, and they taste good. But I have 2 issues..... it doesn't seem like they are consistent (taste wise) and they use a TON of ice. Seems like a bit more than other smoothie places. Maybe I am wrong, but its g=hard to tell because like I said before, my drinks dont consistently taste the same. And that's too bad because all that ice they use it brings down the fruit flavor combinations. But its still a decent spot. I had never ordered from Tropical Smoothie Cafe, so today was my first try. The experience was just ok, less than I had hoped. Having never eaten here, I expected the food size, quality, and taste to be roughly similar to somewhere like Panera, especially given that the prices are roughly the same. On that basis of comparison, TSC fell short on all counts. I ordered delivery including 4 entrees (Thai salad; 2 orders of quesadillas; and the chicken caprese sandwich) with sides, intending for the food to last several days. The food taste was generally acceptable--nothing spectacular but not bad. When the delivery arrived, I was surprised how small and light the bag was compared to other restaurants from whom I order 4 full entrees. The Thai salad was a major disappointment. The size was average but the quality was vastly inferior to anything offered by Panera. The description says it's made with "a bed of romaine"; what arrived to me was a salad made of 100% shredded **iceberg** lettuce--not a shred of romaine to be found. Moreover, that iceberg lettuce was 90% of the salad's volume; the chicken and all the other toppings combined were scant. The cilantro advertised appeared to be absent, and the sesame seeds advertised were so few that I could literally count every one of them. The quesadillas were another disappointment. I had ordered both with extra chicken (for an upcharge of $1.50 each). However, what arrived looked similar to the photo online, which is not a good thing, because the extra chicken should have made it more full. These quesadillas were paper thin even with the "extra" chicken, which I suspect was not actually added despite my paying more. The taste was mainly on par with somewhere like Chipotle, perhaps a bit inferior, but for the price paid (especially with the "extra" chicken), I definitely overpaid. The chicken caprese sandwich tasted fine, though a tad smaller than I had expected. Compared to Panera's caprese sandwich, TSC's just seemed less fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Granted, Panera's version does not come with chicken but does come with a thicker, meaty mozzarella cheese. Given the choice, I'd rather have Panera's meatless version, which is more bang for the buck and more tasty. The biggest disappointment in size were the side items, some of which I paid extra for, and some were included with entree. Each of the sides was only the size of a few bites; the jalapeno corn (not even 1/3 cup) was pretty good, though not much sign of any actual jalapeno, while the kale apple slaw was a bit soggy, was not a great flavor, and did not resemble the texture of slaw because of the chunks of apple and kale rather than shredded pieces. It was so small it took only 3 bites to finish. As mentioned before, this was 4 entrees, intended to be lunch/dinner spanning several days. However, I ended up eating 3 of the entrees (and all sides) for one day's lunch/dinner because of the small size. (By comparison, a Chipotle burrito bowl, which is the same price or less than all these entrees, will usually last me 2 meals. I'll often order 2 burrito bowls for delivery, and it will end up serving as 4 or even 5 meals. The entrees from TSC were the opposite--had to eat more than one to be considered a single meal.) As a side note, I was also a bit disappointed at the amount of styrofoam and non-recyclable plastic used in the order. I realize with delivery it takes some effort to keep the food at the right temperature, and some other restaurants use styrofoam for take out, but not all do. I would have liked to have seen some more environmentally friendly options. At least the salad was in a paper-based bowl, so that's a start. All in all, I'd rate it around a 2.5. read more

This was s great little spot. I really wanted a "good" smoothie and my husband and I found this one on yelp. The smoothie and food was so good we stopped by the next day and got another. We also shared their Cajun or curry sandwich and it was truly yummy with a little kick. It was full of just the right amount of everything. I must note that on the first day my smoothie had a lot more banana flavor and on the second day it was perfect and no flavor out weighed the other. So, it must be who makes it - you may have to consider asking for a balance if you get one of the banana ones. I Love banana- my husband does not. Very clean place and we received our food quickly. We all ordered the smoothie and salad combo. The salads are very good and we enjoyed the chicken on the salads- it wasn't dry or rubbery with an artificial flavor on it. The smoothies are pure whole fruit and greens. No sugar, no junk. This is the kind of place we need on every corner....not mcdonalds, not cookout, not even starbucks. I was so sad when Natural Blendz closed down but this is a great alternative (although not nearly as close to me). Great smoothie options, wraps, salads, flatbreads, etc. Everything is fresh and tasty. I love the fact that you can go super healthy with the likes of an avocado, cucumber and spinach smoothie or you can go "dirty" and just get a peanut butter and chocolate treat. We ordered a flatbread and the thai chicken wrap which both came with a small side. I tried the kale and apple salad for my side and it had a homemade dressing on it. It was very good. The portions were perfect for a hot sunny day in Charlotte. It was just the perfect lunch and you can wash it all down with one of their fruity smoothies. It was PACKED in there on Saturday at 1pm (prime time) so be prepared to wait a little. They really don't have the space for the amount of volume coming in and out of there so it was warm and a bit uncomfortable. We got our food to go and that was ideal. Friendly service and they did the best they could to keep up with the crowds. I'm sure they could have been a little more efficient but that is something that management can work out with them. I was totally blown away by this little gem of a restaurant in the Promenade! I had a coupon and local friends told me I should try it. I am so glad I did! Their smoothie menu is extensive but try the food; it is on point! The flavors are bright and fresh and everything is made fresh when you order. I have been back many times since my initial visit because Kevin and his crew are so welcoming and go out of the way to make sure you are taken care of! The fish tacos and chicken luau flatbread are sooo good! You have to try their AMAZING smoothies, too! Everything is reasonably priced, as well. I have not tried everything yet, but give me time!
