I had bigger order of like 6 smoothies for my team at work (long day treat), they gave me quick and efficient service. We were disappointed with the smoothies, mostly because they were overwhelmingly sweet. It seemed like they had added sugar to them (or corn syrup!), which is just gross. And completely defeats the purpose of drinking a smoothie. We had some sandwiches, which were decent, nothing to write home about, but decent, though they screwed up our order. It's summer time. That means temperatures rise and I want to avoid looking like a manatee at the swimming pool. I suppose that's what led me over to our local Tropical Smoothie Cafe, despite its slightly inconvenient location. Interestingly enough, I've never actually gotten food here; only smoothies. So I thought I'd break that habit and grab a sandwich. The entree options are limited to salads, sandwiches, wraps and flatbread fold-over/taco/panini/thingies. The pricing seems a little odd, as my "Bistro Sandwich" was $2.29 more expensive than the flatbread thing my accomplice ordered, and I could barely figure out a reason why. Portion sizes were equal, heck, even the calorie count on the flat bread was higher...and it only came in at a whopping $3.99 as opposed to my $6.29 "Italian Bistro". A part of me groans inside when I see businesses charging premium prices because they know that "healthy organic blah blah blah" is going to fetch a few extra cents of margin. Sure, anyone can throw some leafy green lettuce on something and call it "healthy and garden fresh" but don't be fooled by lettuce my friends; a restaurant sandwich is still a sandwich no matter how you slice it. It's freshness and taste that matter most, in my opinion...and it was here that Tropical Smoothie Cafe kept a smile on my face. Despite the obviously ready to get-the-hell-outta-dodge employee (I came in 20 minutes till close, so I don't blame the guy), the food was fresh and left me without that fast food regret for stopping at a restaurant for a meal... even if I thought 20 bucks for two people to get a smoothie and a tiny sandwich was a little absurd. The smoothies, however, are excellent, and a great blend of ingredients without becoming a watery slush. For a franchise, it's clean, fast, and fresh. Something I can't say about a lot of other franchises. They also take pride in their community by sponsoring events and featuring coffee from a local coffee house...so bonus points for that. read more

I was working in the area and decided to stop in. No one spoke to me when walked in; however, one lady spoke to everyone else that came in after me. I realized the only reason she didn't speak when I walked in is because she was in the middle of helping another customer. The rest of the staff just stood around and acted irritated that they had to make anything and bring it to customers. read more

I really like this place. They have a line up of great smoothies, they have really good sandwiches, and its just a cool place to go. I like the buffalo chicken wrap, but i usually get it salad style, or the turkey guacamole with ranch. But have tried other things, and just in general really like the place. Great job! read more

this review is for the two who were working this past Saturday in the morning. It's to bad because the owner is nice and the people during the week are awesome. It was when the guy making the drinks was a piece of work. He had already put water in my drink and ice. After he put water in he had trouble with the water dispenser. He was going to put more water in and that's when I said to him, that's ok I do not like that much water anyway in my drink. What I should have told him is that the people during the week are ok with my request of less water and they are not rude about it. Getting back to him... then he told I have to put in that amount or it will ruin the blender ...then I told him oh just give it a try. Then he said look it's ruining the bleeder and took it out and added more water and I could tell and hear he put something extra in my drink... he was also standing really close to the counter that the blenders are on. I should have threw it away in front of him but I did not .... I threw it away at a gas station. While he was destroying my drink that I paid for his coworker berated someone who works there on Fridays. She came out and asked him who worked last night because they marked something down as out and she said she found it right in front. The bag she was holding was something that was turning a dark color but I could still see it was once green by the other end of the item. Go on Sunday afternoon and during the week. read more
