Idk what happened today. I think one was new cuz she wasn't quite on the ball which is fine she's new(hopefully). But!, the cashier is where I was mad. For one she didn't put down the smoothie I wanted, so i got the wrong drink & then she totally didn't even acknowledge my(gay) bf's(Asian) existence. She would only look at me(yt) even though he was the one talking. She then asked me if that was it, gave me the total even though HE HAD HIS CARD OUT & IN THE AIR to show he was ready to pay. This is my 100th 5-star review! Ok so I'm breaking my 100 reviews or less policy with this location in Tempe, AZ because I thought of the first time I ever went to a Tropical Smoothie, it was this location in a mediocre looking shopping center in November 2009. There is a funny story associated with this, so I felt compelled to write. At the time, I was living in NW Mesa on the Tempe border, was taking a couple of classes at ASU & MCC. There was a girl I had met at a games Meetup group, who I liked. She mentioned that she worked at this Tropical Smoothie, and I commented that I might visit sometime, and she said the smoothies are really good and that I should. I had a coupon or they were running a promotion for buy one, get one free smoothies. I went way out of my way to see this girl to the complete opposite side of Tempe as where I lived near, who worked here and to get 2 smoothies for the price of 1. I walked in this clean store, and she seemed happy to see me. It wasn't too busy in there. It was middle of the afternoon on a Monday I think. Surprise, surprise, the weather was warm & sunny. I miss the yellow Sun; we don't get it nearly as much in the DC area. I ordered my two drinks, which I remember was the Pomegranate Blueberry drink (Yum...it was so good) and maybe the Sunrise Sunset, which is another excellent standby common order I get even today in 2018. I drank part of the two and saved some in the freezer or fridge. She admitted that neither is ideal as a leftover, but it'll still be pretty good. As for the girl I liked, I got her phone #. Ultimately, we went on one date later in November. I was Blind-sided by her like the movie, The Blind Side, that we saw starring Sandra Bullock, and Mojo Yogurt in Tempe Town Center. We sat outside eating our yogurt for 3 hours until midnight on that Sunday night. But then, she took like 24-48 hours to respond to my texts and ultimately ghosted me. read more

I stopped in with my kids as a treat, one of my children is on the spectrum and really wanted something simple that wasn't on the menu. He was starting to get very agitated and the manager stepped in and kindly made my son something to eat that even though it wasn't a menu item. In addition to that, they provided it to us at a kid's meal price! When you have a child who behaves in unpredictable ways, it makes a difference when staff goes above and beyond to make the experience easier to navigate. read more

I'd been meaning to stop in here for weeks and finally did! I asked what smoothie would give me the best pineapple flavor and she said "Mango Magic". And it was! Mango, Pineapple and Yogurt. Ordered through UberEats. Order was completely wrong: Issue #1: Ordered a hummus wrap and it had chicken on it. The wrap doesn't come with chicken. I am a vegetarian, hence, I do not eat chicken and did not add chicken. Issue #2: This location is about 10 minutes from my office so I decided to drive over and correct the issue after disputing with UberEats. Upon arrival I explained the issue to the cashier. A new wrap was going to be made - allegedly. Waited 15 minutes before asking what the status was. It was not very busy inside. With an attitude, cashier responded that it was being remade. Waited an additional 5 minutes then left. I can't spend all day waiting for someone to pull their head out of their ass. Advice: Please consider hiring employees with at least half a brain. My go to spot for smoothies and wraps. My favorite smoothie is the Açaí berry boost superfoods smoothie. I like that it's all one size. I believe it's 24 oz. For only the smoothie itself, cost about $6.50. Compared to other smoothie places that's a good deal for its size. I've tried multiple wraps and all of them are really good. They have breakfast wraps and lunch wraps. The peanut butter and banana one is really good. It had crunchy granola it is that makes it delicious. The jerk chicken one is another one I normally get. I have been to other locations but this one was awful. I stood in line and waited 5 minutes before even being acknowledged by the cashier and had to interrupt her to be helped. We waited 15 minutes for 3 smoothies and a breakfast wrap - not too bad. However, when I got my food the cheese was cold and not even melted and bacon uncooked. My smoothie wasn't fully blended, with big chunks of ice, and it was very watery, not a smoothie I'd pay for again. I was not even three sips in when I went to crunch on ice, but instead bit down on a little piece of plastic!!!! I'm so disappointed in the quality and service, and that's $26 I'll never get back. The other day, I placed an online order and the transaction went through. I went to the store and the store was closed for further notice. I called the store a couple of times and no one picked up. I called corporate and the specialist that I spoke to apologized and said that a refund will be processed. Fast forward to today, I checked my account and another charge instead of a refund occurred on my account. So I'm not happy about that. I was a frequent customer at this location but I will not be going back to this location again. The transaction should not have went through when the store is closed. Please change your straw for your smoothie especially for the peanut butter smoothie thingy (sorry I forgot the main name for it). It is sticky and very hard to sip because it is very thick and sticky. My boyfriend and I had a hard time trying to sip it. The portion size is very big (they only have one size). Terrible service the last few times I've been in. There's a new worker, a shorter heavy set man who is always in a dirty uniform and consistently gives me and other customers the wrong food items. Doesn't know how to work the computer system either. Whoever makes the food in the back plays their own explicit music from a personal speaker. I walked in 25 minutes before closing tonight and the same new worker told me I can only order a smoothie because they're done making real food for the night and the kitchen is already closed. The chicken Caesar wrap is good and the smoothies are okay. They are very icey, rather than creamy, almost like a slushy. They have some tasty flavors but do not offer any size other than huge. I would prefer to pay less for a size I can actually finish. The thing that keeps me from going back to this location is the service. It is unprofessional and extremely slow. The owner's son (I believe) is the worst. He is snarky and rude and talks/texts on his phone while handling food and smoothie ingredients. Tropical smoothie cafe is hands down one of my top five places to go, i definitely frequent this place several tines a week. I get the same thing almost everytime, a Detox smoothie with extra pineapple & a sante fe quesadilla. This location is my favorite, here's why: I've been to the drive thru location here in Chandler & although the staff has been friendly at every location I've visited, this ones my favorite because they always go the extra mile. Sometimes I'll go to another location & they don't cut up the quesadilla, its just given to me as a whole & I'll just tare it apart into pieces. No big deal. Or they will, but the cheese & beans are falling all over the wrap. One time they only put one piece of chicken in each slice.This location has always made it convienant for the customer to handle the food by taking the extra minute to cut it & box it up, so that's always nice. & there's always enough of everything in it, nit just the veggies. The woman who I believe to be the manager, who I can never catch her name, blonde hair with a cute lip ring.
