On our recent trip to Healdsburg I found this gem that is opened by the same owners of Quail and Condor (my favorite bakery in Healdsburg!). They sell a limited selection of sweet baked goods (cookie, cannelle, etc.) but have a good selection of bread loaves (same as what they sell at Quail and Condor I believe) and sandwiches. We got the yecora rojo and super seed breads as well as the jambon baguette and chicken salad sandwich. All were delicious! Staff were also really nice and made sure the breads were sliced for us and provided great recommendations on what their popular items are. In addition to bread and sandwiches, it looks like they offer reservations for Pre-fixe dinner at this location. I am excited to try this on my next trip here! read more

This review is for the chefs tasting menu dinner service. The hubby and I came here to celebrate a special occasion. At first he was skeptical because this is a sandwich place during the daytime, but don't let that fool you - the dinner is phenomenal! The team are Single Thread alums and it shows. Each dish is prepared with attention to detail in flavor and presentation. Usually they weave in an element of bread to each dish, so it's best if you like carbs like me! The place itself is charming, with just a handful of tables and food served on vintage plates you'd find in grandmas cupboard. The menu consisted of a number of small bites (veggies are from single thread garden). We had: - croque monsieur with a savory tea - herb salad - tuna tartare - lobster bisque - mini epi bread - halibut - meringue for dessert We left pleased with the experience and would definitely come back. The one thing to mention is that if you're a big eater you may still be hungry afterward as the portions aren't huge, but they are decadent so you're definitely getting plenty of calories. Had a lovely dinner last month. Unsurprisingly, the various breads we were served over the course of the meal were excellent. Dinner was a prix fixe where you could choose from various options for the appetizer and mains so the bf and I made sure to make different selections to be able to try more. One of the bf's favorite dishes was the croque madame at the start. It was made even more interesting since it came in puff form. One of my favorite dishes was unexpectedly a little cup of a mushroom broth, also near the start. The herb salad was also delicious: very fresh, perfectly dressed, and a pleasing brightness. I got the steak tartare while the bf got the chestnut soup. This was possibly the first time I ever had leftover bread after finishing my tartare which was great bc I do find it a little annoying when I don't get enough bread to eat tartare with (which happens more often than I think it should). I had the monkfish amandine for my main and the bf got the duck pruneaux. Dessert was a tarte tatin. I had kind of wanted the supplemental caviar and eggs offered early on but full table participation was required and both of us weren't incredibly hungry. It looked great when I saw another table get it but I was so stuffed by the end of our meal that I'm glad we refrained. The wine we ordered was really good. Service was also great. BEST SANDWICHES EVER! During a trip to the Napa area, I made it a point to try out the recently opened Troubadour in Healdsburg. Let me start by saying that it was so good, my boyfriend and I ate there twice in the same weekend AND bought extra sandwiches to take home. They were THAT good! These are sizable sandwiches; they really pack in the ingredients! The bread is also from local bakery, Quail and Condor, so you know it's going to be good! Menu changes daily, but everything I've had from here is great! The sandwich that really blew me away is their Warm Pastrami! The pastrami was so incredibly tender and delicious. The best pastrami I've ever had. It has 1000 Island and Swiss on Caraway kamut, superseed bread. The crust on the bread was a little hard on this one, but it did a good job of holing up nicely with keeping all the ingredients in! The center of the bread on the other hand, was so soft! Overall, incredible. The Roasted Chicken Sandwich is also another winner. The pan drippings are everything! Little crispy bits of savory deliciousness--these are mindblowingly good. They almost remind me a bit of crispy bacon bits. There's also a good amount of arugula for some freshness. The Italian was also tasty. It had Journeyman meats, oil and vinegar, arugula, and provolone on Siciliano bread. While yummy, the calabrian chilis on it were pretty spicy. There wasn't any indication on the menu that it had chilis on it, so a little note would have been nice! Troubadour also always offers a Market Veggie Sandwich option, and this is no ordinary, boring vegetable sandwich! The day I went, they were offering a rainbow carrot, pesto, burrata and arugula sandwich. I did not think a carrot sandwich could ever taste so good! Each sandwich comes with a side of pickles, and these are magic. Seriously, everything they make here is AMAZING. Had the best meal of my life here last week. I've frequented many of the best fine dining and 2-3 star Michelin restaraunts in the US but I've never had as many foodgasims as I had at Troubador. The tasting menu with wine paring will change your life. Usually with fine dining, 20% of the dishes are good or meh, 50% are great, and 30% are amazing. Every single menu item and wine compliment was outstanding at Troubador. I found myself walking back to the kitchen a few times to personally tell the chefs how extrodinary their skills were. Be prepared for disappointing meals after dining here as other great restaraunts will leave you only mildly satisfied and longing for your next visit to this amazing restaraunt. The sandwiches for lunch are a little pricey, but really delicious and large -- split the sandwich if you're not a big eater. A bustling little sandwich shop with indoor seating. It seems as if we just missed the lunch crowd and had some amazing choices of sandwiches before we went winetasting. Among the choices that we had were a turkey pesto, wagyu roast beef, and jambon Au beurre. These sandwiches are huge and well worth the price. We had fun sharing among our group. My first 5 star review is for the "Le Dinner" held at the cafe in the evenings on Wed - Sunday at $125 w/ possible supplemental course it was a good value in healdsbrug, fresh ingredients and thoughtful preparation and presentation. My favorites of the night were the croque monsieur w/ black truffle OMG and the avocado/ caviar w/ bread course was amazing..The menu was tasty and by the time the chicken royale was finished it definitely hit the spot, dessert was simply but delicious. Went to Troubadour a few weeks ago, not for a tasty sandwich but for their special Prix Fixe tasting menu which has garnered quite a following in the short time it has been offered. There are a few tables and the counter to sit at. We chose the counter and chatted with the manager- server during the dinner. Not a lot of ambience inside but you come here for the food and dinner did not disappoint. What we liked about the tasting menu was there were choices for some courses. My wife is a picky eater so that came in handy :). Won't post everything we had (will include the photo of the menu) but a few highlights were: Croque Monsieur, perigord truffle, ham and Gruyère Veal sweetbreads, baby vegetables and sauce supreme "Avocado Toast", Kaluga caviar, Danish rye, crème fraiche, served with house levain Herb salad, black sesame and cultured cream Poached Salmon Troisgros, sorrel cream and shallots Choux au Craquelin, whipped crème fraiche, rhubarb and rum Service was impeccable throughout dinner. My goodness! Neither am I a huge fan of sandwiches nor am I into cold sandwiches, but Troubadour was probably one of the best cafe sandwich experiences I've ever had! My boyfriend and I were in Healdsburg for the weekend, and this small sandwich shop was first on my list of food spots, after hearing many rave reviews. It's an order at the counter shop with sandwiches that are Togo style. We went with the pear, truffle and Turkey, plus the spicy salami (something along the lines of that?!). Upon first bite we were amazed by the quality of the spongey soft bread and the simple ingredients. I loved the smokiness of the spicy salami and the light cheese spread on each of the sandwiches. Each dish was unique, creative, and most importantly, delicious. There are several wonderful dishes here. I'll just get to the point. The Troubadour has some great sandwiches! I tried the Pastrami sandwich. Very different from what I've eaten before. Instead of thin sliced, the pastrami is cut about 1/4" thick. It's topped with their own version of sauerkraut, which in my opinion, looks and tastes better than the generic stuff most restaurants serve. The bread is fresh, made just a few feet away. Needless to say, the sandwich was excellent. FYI- you get what you pay for. At eighteen dollars, the price matches the quality of the sandwich. Being in Healdsburg, it's not unexpected. So maybe you don't come here everyday for your 30 minute lunch break where you just want to eat quickly and get back to work. I've had my fair share of amazing pastrami sandwiches (Langer's + Brent's in LA, Katz's + Liebman's in NY, Zingerman's in MI) and I have to say that the pastrami at Troubadour is hands down, without question, the best Pastrami I've ever had in my life. The sandwich had thick juicy cuts of meat with the perfect amount of fat and flavor that was surprisingly not overwhelming. I really loved the simplicity of the sandwich because you can really taste the quality of the meat, which I have to say was tastier and more tender than the famous slow smoked briskets in Texas. Honestly this tasted more like a high end prime rib sandwich. I was looking forward to experience Troubadour's Le Dińer and this was a refined, well thought of menu. Classic French with an elevated faire. It's a pre fixed dinner, for starters I had the Croque Monsieur, that melted in my mouth, I wanted more! It was an amazing opening for my palate, followed by escargot soaked in duck egg custard and herbs, that was phenomenal! We added a steak tartare with some kind of a butterfly shaped (volcanic chips?) yum, it was seasoned perfectly, and the brioche bread was warm, fresh, soft. I can order a dozen of those or more! Cod Vichyssoise, amazing, I could eat a bowl of it. Black Cod en Croûte with the special creamy sauce was really delicious. The herb salad was plated beautifully and the cutlery that was served to us was slightly chilled. Talking about the the fine details was impressive!!! The Peach Melba dessert was a perfect finale! It was a creamy custard, slightly sweet, poached peaches with fresh dwarf raspberries, delicious! The service was impeccable! This was an outstanding dinner, the execution, the quality of the food, the plating, the pricey French dinnerware, the cutlery are impressive! All for a fair price. When I came earlier, the sandwiches were freshly prepared but I think it was because we literally came when they opened (the bread smelled sooo good as we walked by)! Sandwiches were solid and fresh.
