Lamb & snapped
Courtney H.

A fantastic concept with personal service from the chef, which made the experience feel special. Fun, well-executed menu, great outdoor seating, and very fair pricing. The lamb and shrimp were standout dishes, though everything we ordered was excellent. Also a really nice wine list. Will be back!

Making reservations was so easy and the woman I spoke with was very accommodating! When we arrived they sat us right away and were prompt on getting our drinks! Our server was hilarious and really on top of it. We ordered the little neck clams in butter and beer broth and wow they are incredible! We also got the little gem salad and the sourdough (this is a must) and we got the daily ceviche which was halibut with peppers. My partner got the hanger steak and it was cooked to perfection. She only gave up one bite to me but boy was it good! In the past we have also had the kale Caesar, the clam strips, yellow tail ceviche, and fresh oysters. I have not had a bite of food there that I did not enjoy. The place is shaped a little weird and some seats are more desirable than others. We love the booth (you pretty much have to make reservations to get one) but it is worth mentioning that we are both pretty average size people (maybe a bit more than average if I'm being honest) but anyone who is on the bigger side probably wouldn't fit in the booth. It's a really tight squeeze getting into them because they have these little wall things that come out a tad too far. It is great people watching from there though! They also have beautiful outdoor seating! Overall this is 5 stars for me. If you love seafood and good service you have to check this place out!

The wait was such that one member of the party got food 15 mins after anyone else. The food itself was quite flavorful and good. The octopus tacos were really top notch as were the other tacos we had. The other dishes were good but not as memorable. Perhaps if they fixed the service issues, this place would be great.

Our server Brian was thoroughly knowledgeable about the food and preparation of every dish, while being personable and friendly throughout the entire meal. I was wildly impressed with the efficiency of the kitchen getting food out as well. We had the guava cucumber mocktails which were refreshing and crisp, as well and ginger beer and it was great! The brisket tacos were cooked to perfection and the puree at the bottom of the taco is such a great suprise! My husband got the bahn mo special and I of course stole a bite or two. It was so fresh and falvorful. The fries were tossed in soy sauce syrup and green onions and were mind blowingly good. The entire staff was warm and pleasant. The young staff even made eye contact and engaged with us! haha We will absolutely be back to try the rest of the options they have to offer.

I don't normally drink cocktails but I had the guava paloma which was excellent. We sat in the patio garden with the heat lamps fired up, and it was wonderful. Great service.

I started with the creamy chicken croquetas, what a pity there were only three. I could have eaten a dozen. I also had the crispy asparagus and jamon "cigarillos" with manchego and a harissa aioli. Pure bliss. The roasted beets with walnuts and idazabal cheese were delicious and very generous, a reminder that one shouldn't go to a tapas restaurant alone! So take a friend or two and go.

I liked the cauliflower one we got, along with the beet salad. I would say that the tapas are on the larger size. We also ordered the fried chicken meal which was delicious but too much food for two people! It comes with a delicious kale salad as well. I also ordered the cava sangria, which was good but super strong! I did feel like the service was fine but they weren't as super friendly as other places in Healdsburg. The service was really fast, food came out quickly.

The bar was packed and they do allow standing room but that's not what i wanted. Standing is fine and dandy if I was in a group but i was alone.... She offered either a table or at the counter overlooking the kitchen..I opted for counter. I had a perfect view of all the food being prepped. We knew immediately this was going to be a special night. We went all in with the chef's prix fixe menu, and it delivered from the very first bite. Warm, homemade dinner rolls -- fragrant with thyme, garlic, and chili flakes, served alongside pillowy whipped butter -- set the tone perfectly. We loved them so much we asked for a second basket without a moment's hesitation. The Sonoma County Organic Salad that followed was nothing short of a revelation: crisp Little Gem lettuce, Pioneer Micro Herbs and edible flowers, beautifully shaved vegetables, whipped fromage blanc, and a Green Goddess dressing that tied it all together with effortless elegance. Perfection is the only word for it. For our entrées, the Petrale Sole Meunière was a masterclass in refined, soulful cooking -- the Costeaux sourdough croutons, potato fondant, haricot verts, and caper beurre noisette working in perfect harmony. And the pork porchetta with nduja? Cooked flawlessly, bold, deeply satisfying, and utterly memorable. We paired the meal with the Valette Rosé of Pinot Noir, which has instantly earned a place among the finest rosés we've ever tasted -- vibrant, nuanced, and a dream with every course. Dessert brought the ItsNotA 'Snickers Bar' and the Almond Frangipane, both executed brilliantly and the ideal sweet finale to an extraordinary meal. Valette isn't just a great restaurant -- it's our new favorite dining destination, full stop. We'll be back, again and again.

It's a great room with good energy and although I was expecting more of a white tablecloth experience, it was casual, which was fine. Unfortunately, my entire entree (sole meunière with green beans and fondant potatoes) was uniformly bland...no trace of salt or seasoning whatsoever. The entire dish was blah. I can't remember the last time I complained about inadequate seasoning, but when it's nowhere to be found, it's hard to ignore. The beans were pretty much raw. I enjoy bright green beans served al dente beans, but raw? No. The fondant potatoes were anemic (zero golden color, zero confit). All three pieces seemed steamed, steamed unevenly, and served cold. One of the three fondants was very firm and barely cooked. I needed to cut it with a knife. The other two were fork tender but alas, cold and flavorless. Honestly, it was kinda weird that all three components of this dish were just so darned boring and lacking temperature. I had only started my meal when I told the server about my impression of the dish. He took my feedback cheerily and said he'd let the chef know for future reference, but no "How can we fix this?" It was a bummer. When eating a classically delicious dish feels like punishment, something's not right. On the bright side, the server had a very nice manner. The room was lovely and had good energy. The menu was priced lower than we expected. And the chilled english pea soup was absolutely delicious. So Valette is capable of getting some things right. I'm not sure whether to chalk it up to "off night" or poor quality control in the kitchen. I guess both, maybe.
