Excellent oral surgeon. Quality staff. Very clean office. Water always provided. Lots of appointments available.

They tell you a price and make you pay in advance to make your appointment. Tell you you're good to go afterwards and then weeks later send you a bill for hundreds of dollars more than the agreed upon price and what you paid. No nothing extra was done. They try to upsell you on everything and try to scare you into treatments that would cost thousands. read more

I've experienced horrible service, lack of professionalism and strong arm sales tactics. I have been to quite a few dental offices due to military moves and this office is the worst I have experienced. Dr Spencer has a narcissistic personality. They will get you in quickly in an emergency situation and try to convince you that you need expensive work done. 0 stars. read more

Update 20 Sep 19: I included a picture this time for my update. A picture is worth a thousand words. It's only been 2 years 8 months...my wife just sneezed, and her "permanent" implant came out to include the post. This is an example of the work that this dentist office does. You do your own evaluation of the picture and see if you still want to go there. Original Post Jan 2017: We've had nothing but problems with billing and the actual procedures for over a year and a half. They were great before they got our $15000 for procedures. After we paid, we're still trying to get the "guaranteed work" fixed. My wife is deathly afraid of dentists and he has only made the experience even worse. We'll have to go to another dentist to get the work fixed as he's not fixed his botched work without further money. I agree with Doug below in that they are only looking for high turnover and to get your money. We will never go back to this dentist even though the work still isn't done. Worst dental experience we've ever been through. (P.S. Read the reviews not factored into the rating. If so please leave your review under the appropriate profile." When I replied I did get the right clinic and right dentist (Dr. Boatman) Toni G. writes a review pretending to be a patient. (They work at Troy Family Clinic) and is not a patient. This shows you the length at which this office tries to deceive people and get you in the door. My life is about integrity. When you don't stand by your work that you guarantee, it's not about the money, it's about not honoring your word and the quality of service. And then when I found out from other dentists Dr Boatman speaks I'll of them...that's way not cool. Dr Boatman is a fine dentist. The crew is friendly but lacks professional ability. I was sent a bill over a year after the procedure was done only to find they billed the incorrect insurance company. It's too late to fix their error. They refused to clean my teeth which is clearly covered under insurance unless I joined a $600 plan that was out of pocket. The hours posted on yelp til 5 pm are wrong. The latest they stay is til 4 pm on Tuesday; 1pm on Friday and 3 on the other weekdays. No accommodation for a working citizen. You decide... We were specifically told they were in network when calling as a new patient. Found out two visits and hundreds of dollars later that isn't true. Seems like they are in it for the money. I will say, they do have good care and worked well with my son. Clean office, etc. But not worth the money and "accidental" misinformation. read more

They are nice enough, however, they can be misleading with terms like PPO and 'in network'. Ended up paying more because while they are a PPO provider for Delta of MO, they are not in network. As a result, Insurance only covered 60%, not 80%, of the procedure which costs me a bit more in the long run. Dr Spenser and the staff are nice enough, however, I need to find a dentist that is in network. Also, wife had a procedure...still in lots of pain....they didn't seem very willing to work with her to help alleviate the situation. Simply told her, well...let us know if your schedule changes and we'll help you...limited options since she works in a hospital. Disappointed Dr not willing to help accommodate or even offer after-hours support to deal with this pain. Not very flexible. Just disappointed given all the awards they have on the walls as best of this and that...just can't give them a better, honest review. read more

I needed a new dentist so I made an appt here. From the moment I walked in the only word that came to mind was CHAOS. There were 3 small kids under 10 yrs old running everywhere in the very small waiting room unsupervised making themselves coffee and hot chocolate, slamming bathroom door anytime someone used it, running up and down halls and there mother was in the back for her appt. glad she got some peace. Who does this??? The girls in the office were babysitting as the littlest one was trying to go out front door and they were screaming for him. Then when I got in back another patients kid kept coming in my room banging a paddle on the wall and running out. Then the dentist came in and every other word was honey and sweetie. Seriously people if the kids didn't make me run his degrading sweetie and honey did it. I was out and will never go back to that zoo. read more

Dr. Boatman was very kind, and understanding. I appreciate the entire staff being professional, and making me feel like there was no judgement. I recommend anyone to this practice that is feeling anxious about the dentist. I have seen a few bad reviews, but I am genuinely surprised about that and strongly disagree with them. How something heals has so much to do with if you're properly caring for it. I was verbally informed on how to care for the extraction site and was even sent home with a document containing extra tips/ suggestions. Dr. Boatman called me a few days after the procedure to assure I was healing okay as well as before the procedure. They wanted to assure I wasn't feeling anxious and comforted me about getting the work done. They are exceedingly competent and caring. The price was reasonable and fair for the work being done. The price was exactly what was quoted. read more

Had 15 teeth pulled and dentures made for $8,400 last September. Returned numerous times for adjustments and most of the time the technician was who I saw. A few adjustments were made but most made things worse. Last time I saw a technician because the denture was hitting my back gum, her response was "your left side is healing differently than your right". That was the problem but she had no solution. Went to Florida for the winter and returned in May still unable to eat. Made an appointment with Dr. Boatmen for a second opinion and to try to get something done. He took some of the 1" of plastic off the denture and told me to come back in 3 weeks. If I had a patient complaining as I was, you'd think they would go out of their way to correct the problems. Instead of waiting another 3 weeks, I found a new dentist who said the bottom teeth were not even aligned with the top. Made a few adjustments that were wonderful. Had to have oral surgery last week elsewhere to ready the bones for implants and when that is completely healed, they will make new dentures for me and once they are fit to my satisfaction, I will have implants put in. Unless you just have a lot of money you don't mind throwing away, stay clear of this place. When I went back in May, my intent was to get implants when and if they ever got my dentures to fit. They also told me that the 4 mini implants would each need new rubber rings every year at $100.00 each ($400.00). Checked with my new dentist on this and he said rings rarely ever go bad and if they do, he replaces them for free. So many things not right with this place. read more

I've been going here for over 8 years. The staff has turned over dramatically in the past few years and they seem to be more interested in moving patients through as fast a possible. Before seeing Dr. Boatman I had healthy teeth and very little work done. Dr Boatman performed multiple root canals on me and almost all of them have had to be reworked. He kept quoting me 98% of root canals work the first time. My experience with his work is 80% have to be reworked. I have another infection now in a tooth he did a root canal on and I'm heading to another dentist to get it fixed. When I called the office about my concerns and that I was thinking about going to another dentist, they didn't seem to care. I even asked to come in and see Dr. Boatman to speak about my issues and concerns...no response. read more

After Trying a different dentist every year for 7 years I have finally found a dentist I love!! The whole staff is friendly and very welcoming, they explain everthing to me and Dr Boatman really know his stuff. Wife had dentures made and post put in. Two posts, out of 8 have already become lose and have been taken out. Posts that we paid for and they never returned. Either they were thrown out or reused in other patients. They want us to pay them again for two new posts. They claim that we were told to bring in her dentures every so often so they could clean them and since we did no do this, there life time guarantee does not apply. We have asked for a name of the person or persons who supplied that information or a copy of a brochure which states what the patient must bring there dentures in for cleaning or lose the warranty and all to no avail. This place is a stone cold rip off. They are dishonest! read more

My daughter went here with one of their coupons for cleaning. The coupon did not include deep cleaning. Guess what, according to them she needed their expensive deep cleaning. I suggested she go to our dentist and there she was advised she in no way needed a deep cleaning. read more

The nurses and front desk staff are the friendliest I have encountered at any type of medical office- kudos to them! also the office is very clean and inviting - however, I will absolutely not be returning to this dentist for several reasons. The actual dentist I do not feel lives up to all pretty exterior in front of him. His work was definitely lackluster - every single appointment I felt extremely rushed, wether it was a cavity filling, cleaning, Invisalign, etc. he always seemed late to get in the room and hurried to finish one patient and move on to the next. He has a nice personality, although it doesn't seem genuine like his staff. I definitely felt as though it was all about profit trying to rush from one room to the next. I felt as though during the extremely short amount of time spent with the actual dentist in each appointment was always filled with attempts at trying to get me to spend more money rather than a genuine care about my dental health. I don't think my cavities were filled as though they should (had to return to get some re fills after a few of them weren't done correctly and still feel as though some of them aren't right), I am disappointed with my Invisalign results ( I spend a TON of money on this and am devastated to be disappointed in the end result), my gums were cut and bleeding after one appointment where apparently there was a slip up, and I'm fairly for certain he slightly chipped one of my teeth in the same procedure. Very disappointed, just wanted my teeth cleaned. I am a truck driver with a dentist in Oregon who I see every six months for teeth cleaning and annual X-rays. I was taking a layover in Troy Illinois area, and decided to try to get my teeth cleaned. I missed my regular cleaning in July while I was home. I explained this during my phone call to office, stating I needed teeth cleaned because my regular appointment when I was home in July was cancelled because my hygienist was ill and unable to come to work. When I arrived at Troy Family Dental I was advised that visit would cost $380 because they wanted to do X-rays. I again explained my situation and asked if I could just get teeth cleaned. They refused. My teeth are very healthy because of my preventative health regimen. I did not need X-rays and would not likely return to this Dental Office in future. I did not appreciate their unreasonable attitude regarding the X-rays. read more
