3.5 stars I'm familiar with Cannery Row dessert spots but only noticed Troya Turkish Delight this year. The mother-daughter duo who owns & runs the store eagerly handed out samples of Turkish Delight. I purchased square jellies coated in powdered sugar in Pomegranate, Orange, & Lemon, as well as a few of the logs, sold in 1/4 pound increments. The ones rolled in pistachios & rose petals weren't a huge hit with my fam, but they liked the Chocolate Brownie Hazelnut flavor. I stupidly didn't take note of the only flavor I really enjoyed because I thought I'd remember its name; it was soft & creamy, almost like cookie dough & tasted of hazelnut. Bf & I ordered baklava -- Honey Pistachio & Double Pistachio -- to eat in their cafe. We don't usually crave these types of desserts so we won't return often but we had a nice time exploring Troya's offerings the night we went. read more

Came to visit Monterey and spotted this amazing place filled with Turkish coffee/desserts. I walked in and notice the variety of desserts they had, it was sweet and colorful. I ordered their Turkish coffee and baklavas. Turkish coffee was amazing and hot. The baklavas were both great, I definitely recommend them. The employees are all so sweet and they let you know their favorites, they also let you sample the desserts. read more

My husband stopped in here for a coffee but came and got me and the girls and told us we needed to come see all the treats. The guy working was so friendly and gave us multiple samples of things before we ended up purchasing 3 flavors of Turkish Delight and the honey walnut Baklava, which was heavenly! My husband also purchased some of the coffee and the guy was really helpful telling him how to make it. There are a lot of candy stores on Cannery Row but I would recommend buying your treats here instead, everything here is so so good! read more

I only tried the baklavas and Turkish coffee here, and both were really good! I was worried the baklava would be too sweet but it was perfect. I got the original pistachio, and chocolate hazelnut baklava and was actually surprised that I liked the chocolate one more. The chocolate hazelnut was good on its own, but I preferred the original baklava with the Turkish coffee. Also, the coffee cane out extremely hot so be careful! The man that helped us appeared sort of rude at first, but he was actually really nice and attentive. He brought out a glass of water for me (also refilled without my asking) and checked up on us to make sure we were good. He also provided recommendations when I was overwhelmed with all the choices and wasn't sure what to try. Would definitely come back! read more

Have you ever been to Lokum in Santa Barbara? This place is very similar with such a beautiful aesthetic. The servers were generous to give huge sample portions during our time there. The backlava was incredible! I highly recommend eating their house special! read more

My husband and I were walking down the street and I was in awe of this place. The lady who I assume owns this place warmly invited us in. The gentleman who helped us pick out some Turkish delights to try for the first time.. thank you for making it fun. My husband is hard to please and he had a great experience. Giving them three stars because their Turkish Delight is AMAZING. So soft, fresh, and full of flavor. Their baklava is disgusting though. I don't know how they get away with serving soggy, flavorless baklava. Baklava is supposed to have a small crunch to it, due to the many layers of flaky pastry. There was no crunch. It was just wet. It is also $3-12 PER PIECE. I'll continue to come for the Turkish Delight but not the baklava. read more

Was just walking down the area and just happen to run into this place. A whole pla e just dedicated to Turkish pastries. The baklava looked amazing. I did pick some up for family. I had the pleasure of eating the pistachio shobiyet and the walnut kadafi. Both of them were drenched in honey. I was given a sample of their Turkish delights which was also very delicious. I was never really a fan of Turkish delight or baklava but I then I had never had fresh authentic Turkish delight or baklava before. All I had previously was premade boxed stuff and I had been missing out. My husband like Turkish delight and baklava so when we passed by this place we just had to go in. The girl behind the counter was so nice and gave us tons of samples- ones we wanted to try and others she recommended. I had never seen so many flavors of Turkish delight or baklava before. Because I am a chocolate lover, I of course loved the chocolate baklava and chocolate hazelnut Turkish delight. My husband's favorite were the pistachio baklava and the orange gummy Turkish delight. My kids liked the chocolate banana Turkish delight and the rose petal Turkish delight. Ambiance was very friendly and welcoming- family owned and you can sense their pride! One word.... Devine It was very refreshing to find this upscale shop along Cannery Row amongst the touristy candy by the pound places and cheap t-shirt shops. Everyone is offered free samples of which ever flavor Turkish delight you want. We had the Nutella one and the cinnamon one. Then we ordered both walnut and pistachio baklava and two Turkish coffees. This is an excellent Turkish treat house with lots to offer. There are all sorts of different styles of baklava, Turkish delights and Halvas. The pastry case looks like something out of an authentic Turkish joint from Istanbul. Lots of colors and beautiful cuts. You can literally smell the honey right when you enter the store. The decor is fantastic with Turkish paintings, rugs, and lanterns. I wish their coffee bar was functioning for people to sit around and enjoy a cup. It looks like it's being renovated. I ordered 4 different baklavas, kanafeh, and two Turkish coffees. The price came out to be about $30 which is expensive. The prices are a bit too much I thought. Baklava should be priced at $1.25 a piece. The woman who was running the store was sweet and kind. She's super efficient and knows how to control the tempo with lines forming. She's a one man team. I personally thought the baklava was a B-. I thought they were way too sweet. The pistachios tasted a bit odd too? I did like their walnut however. This is my first time having Turkish style baklava so I thought it was ok. I'll need to try others! This dessert store is great overall! There's not many like it. Went12/1/2018 and was blown away by how beautiful the Turkish Delight is. I've only had Turkish Delight in Athens, Greece and it was garbage, commercial stuff with no flavour. We sampled a piece of sour raisin stuffed with hazelnut paste Turkish Delight - HOLY MOLY. It tasted amazing. I've made baklava many times at home, but never with pistachios. This is one place that you can get many different types of baklava in case someone isn't a fan of walnuts. Staff is very friendly and nice, but the prices are so steep, I have a feeling they're going to price themselves out of business. Everything is $39.95 per pound! I assumed it was $39.95 per tray, which would be more reasonable. I understand that rent must be high, but the very nice owner, Wail, gave us the previous customer's 2 pieces of baklava for free, because the customer walked out when he was told it was $17!!! $17 for 2 small triangles of baklava is insanity. I really hope they reconsider their prices because I'd like to see them stay in business. Selling volume makes money! read more

This small shop is a great place to check otlut for their Turkish delight! It was soft, chewy and sweet and they have so many different flavors! What I really loved about this place is the staff! I am allergic to pistachios but the staff was super helpful in making sure to change out the cutting board and knife to make sure I don't get any exposure, even when trying out the samples! This place gets super busy so it may be hard to sit down and relax for a cup of coffee. We ended up getting a Turkish coffee, which wasn't my favorite but I will def return for more Turkish delight! read more

The younger worker is extremely friendly and talkative, the older worker is very nice and soft spoken. Both are excellent servers. My brother says "ambiance is top tier" and I agree. Sister says "lighting is nice"; again, I agree. Came for the coffee, couldn't help but buy a quarter pound of Turkish delights! 10/10 would highly recommend. read more

This spot was a-ok and fit the bill for what I needed at the moment: a pick-me-up as I figured out what I was going to get for dinner. I love pistachio, so naturally, Turkish Delight is my thing, as is baklava, so I was super excited to try this place out. They're really generous with samples, so you can try before you buy. After looking things over and having a sample, I went with their pomegranate and coffee pistachio turkish delight, one pistachio roll baklava, and a double pistachio baklava. When the gal behind the counter grabbed that last one, she mentioned that it was cold and suggested I wait 15 minutes before eating it. ...eh... Darn, so I guess I knew they weren't fresh fresh, but that one was just out the freezer. I overheard later on that they are imported from Turkey, so nothing is local/made fresh in that manner. I ate some of the turkish delight immediately, and did the pistachio roll too. Both were great. The last though, even after waiting hours for it to settle out of frozen, was super watery, and fell apart as I ate it. Honestly not great. But for the options you have down there in tourist land, not terrible for a quick sweet thing. The staff was friendly (though that particular person was celebrating their last day working there, so you won't see her at your next visit), and the place is well kept and pretty. read more

The treats were good, but I got ripped off when I bought the kettle to make my own coffee. I should have trusted my gut. I was there when they just opened that morning. I was looking forward for the coffee and I wanted to by the kettle so I can make my own. I asked if it works on an induction stove. He said it's copper. My husband and I came across this beauty and knew we had to take some delights home with us. We have not had any Turkish delights since our last trip to Turkey so i brought back sweet memories. We ordered a box of the delights and asked the man who was helping us what is their most popular ones. He stated that chocolate brownie and grapefruit hazelnut were one of the best so we got a pound of those. I haven't yet tried it but the service, the cleanliness of the store, and the vibes here were great! They also serve baklava which looked really good. I have never seen a "Turkish Delight" before in a retail setting, and they are decadent and delicious. Troya has two types, the classic and modern, along with several types of Baklava - I found the classic delights delicious, and the modern delights amazingly beautiful and delicious. My favorite, IMHO, is the Baklava. Sweet, nutty, flaky, pistachio-stuffed, honey drenched morsels of perfection. Great service, free samples, huge number of varieties - we just scratched the surface today. Came upon this little establishment while day tripping in Monterey. Located on the main drag just down the street from the Monterey Bay aquarium. The selection of Turkish delights is mind blowing! And the quantity and freshness is more than we expected. We had a baklava and Turkish coffee as well and the entire experience was surreal... we've had the great fortune of traveling through Turkey and fell in love with the cuisine while we were there. Since our visit to Turkey, we'd not had such authentic Turkish delights, baklava and Turkish coffee. Do yourself a favor and check it out. Their Turkish Delights (candies) are delicious and different than any other candies I've had. I got a chocolate delight with hazelnuts - they also let you sample anything.. To top it off the friendly staff was as good as the treats and make you feel like you're already home. Such aggressive street sales. Honestly, while being generous with samples the guy serving was so rude and kept adding things I wasn't asking for. It tastes good, incredibly over sweet and sugared compared to the flavorful and elegant Turkish delight I had in Turkey. But the man argued everything I said when trying to ask him for something, so I think I got what he wanted more than what I came in for. I just wanted to forget I wanted anything and leave. My husband and I were ambling around cannery row keeping an eye out for coffee when we saw the sign for Turkish coffee and were intrigued. I'm so happy we stopped in! Not only was the shop itself lovely, but the employees were SO kind. Hussein was so friendly and patient with us when explaining the different coffee options and made great recommendations. I don't remember what I got, but I told him I liked sweeter drinks and whatever he picked out was amazing. And he served it on a little silver tray with a shot of water for after the coffee. Cute cute cute! He also brought us some samples of Turkish delight and they were..delightful . We got some sweets for the road too and I recommend trying the original Turkish delights (without any nuts). I got some of the honey flavored and they not only taste good, but the texture is reallllly pleasant. Chewy in the best possible way. We got some baklava too but are saving it for the plane ride home. I wish I could go back and try some of the rose ones. Rip off! 8.00 will get you two inches of candy. The people here never cut the same size. The lady next to me buying a 80.00 combo pack had huge slices, where 3 piece fill up the box from from back to front. This is what you get when you only want 3 pieces. Last time we were here we bought a combo pack of 60$ worth and they sliced huge pieces. The candy is not worth the price. Save your money go accross the street to Ghirardelli. read more
