I talked Troys up to one of my best friends. We drove from Riviera to Boynton and they ran out of what she wanted and she was completely ignored. She felt because her order was not big she was not worth the effort. I mentioned to the cashier that she was skipped and she simply said "She went out the door, 68.49." No courtesy at all. I paid and went out to her. I said "We can come back again some other time." and she said "Never again, I know you and my manager said their good but I'll never know." Placed an order first thing in the morning on Mother's Day. Order was confirmed by the restaurant before restaurant was even opened. Went to pick up order and was told that they could not fulfill my order because they had ran out of certain meats. Troy has come along way in the past few years. He has moved from a shack by the railroad tracks to a very nice freestanding restaurant a little farther down Federal highway just south of Woolbright Road on the east side of US1. That's the only thing that has changed. The ribs are still the best I have ever had anywhere in the country and every time I come to Florida I'm gonna keep eating them. They have incredible flavor and the sauce is definitely NOT NEEDED for the ribs because the flavor is in the meat. I have been eating these ribs since 1997 and they are still the best ribs in America. They're a little pricier now than when I last left a review in 2014 but they are still the best ribs on the planet! I'm delighted that Troy is doing well and has brought his sons into the business, because he was always a hard worker and had a great product and now he has two restaurants and is about to open a third. Talk about living the American dream, Troy is well on his way to being the BBQ king of the South. I'm so happy for him. I always knew he would be a big success and I am so happy looking at $65 worth of ribs. I'm going to get some more for the trip home!!! read more

Troy's pulled pork is on point !! I am usually a "only try a new Yelp spot, if they have more then 100 reviews and 4+ stars" guy but I am so glad I stopped. The pulled pork is fantastic with their house BBQ sauce. I am a KC BBQ lover so the sweet sauce was just what I look for and the beans ROCK!!! Holy mother of this place is for real BBQ. Do yourself a favor and at the very least give them a try.

Mixed feelings. I wanted to rate them higher because they are one of the few bbq places in S Florida that have a clue as to what bbq really is. As to my knowledge there is no such thing as Florida bbq. Places pick and choose what they make. As for the service it's been anywhere from really friendly to I'm bothering them by spending my money there. So after three visits this is my experience. Brisket. The hardest thing to get right. In order to do so you need to be a bit fanatical. The bark and smoke flavor was good but whoever is trimming the briskets before smoking is clueless. I prefer the fatty side of the brisket or "point". I requested it from one person slicing the brisket. They were inept at slicing. Managed to lop off 1 chunk and put it in a plate. Nasty and unacceptable. They leave way too much fat on it so you can't eat the bark on portions because it surrounds a half inch of fat. The ribs go from pretty moist and good too dry and chewy. The baked beans were good, clearly home made, cornbread good, coleslaw good. They are really close to being a standout bbq place but what's needed is a little more skill and attention. Bbq is an art. I respect that. In all honesty because it's a family place I probably would have skipped the review so as not to criticize. But the rude service I received twice left me being like ok I'll just tell it like it is for me. At today's meat prices where two plates of bbq costs close to 60 bucks be grateful for every customer that walks in. I'm a nice guy, restaurant background and very friendly and I tip at the counter. Again, I've been treated really nicely there too which I appreciate but their service like their food is very inconsistent. I don't care how long they've been in business. I know my food, I appreciate hospitable service and I'll tell everyone I know about a place if I like it. Kick it up a couple of notches. The place could be great. read more

This was my first time and I was impressed with the lunch special Ribs and Fries. The ribs are smokey and sweet with lots of meat. Just what I expect from a Bar B Que joint.!! So disappointed. I've been ordering from Troy's for over a year now and this was the 2nd time that I was disappointed with the food. I ordered the ribs and chicken combo with collard greens and macaroni and cheese with a side order of potato salad. The ribs had no flavor and were a bit tough. The collar greens were bitter, mac & cheese needed more cheese, the potato salad just wasn't good as it has been in the past. The chicken was excellent. Went to the Boca Raton location this evening for a pick up for my Birthday dinner and the staff was very friendly and attentive. The dinner I ordered, BBQ ribs, Pulled Pork, Mac n cheese, Potato Salad and Collard Greens with the Corn Bread was off the chain, not to mention the Arnold Palmer combo of Sweet Iced tea and Lemonade, the meal was AWESOME and DELISH! The BBQ pulled pork was good but there was definitely not enough sauce on it. They sprinkle it across the top and the mass amount of meat underneath that is left pretty dry. I would definitely go again and just ask for extra bbq sauce on the side. read more

I tried the pulled pork sandwich, Mac n cheese, yams, beans, and sweet tea. The pork was really good, I liked the unlabled bottle of sauce on it best (mustard BBQ sauce?). Mac n cheese was very good, as you scoop it out the cheese stretches (yummy). The beans here are sweet (not my thing). Yams are always good. It looks like you can go through the drive through to get food too which is pretty cool. The inside was pretty clean, I watched workers clean the tables promptly as patrons left. Simply awful. It took over 45 min for this "restaurant" to deliver our meals ( two rib dinners and a chicken dinner). When the ribs finally arrived, they were cold as if they were prepared well in advance, placed in a refrigerator, then they were set out to raise the temperature. The beans contained enough sugar to send one into a coma. The mac and cheese was from a package. When we advised troy of the cold ribs, he placed them in a microwave and returned the same god awful ribs. I really wanted to like this place and even drove 40 minutes to get here. However, the wait time was unacceptable, the food was deplorable and the price was outrageous (over $40 without a beverage). Save your time and look elsewhere read more

I had the rib dinner w. baked beans & yams. AMAZING. The meat was tender & seasoned just perfectly. I tried all 3 of the sauces. The sweet one is the best & most flavorful. The "hot" one tasted a little too much like vinegar and wasn't as hot as I expected. But still it was good. If you want an actual hot sauce they do have some. Their banana pudding was amazing. The pudding was really light & not overly sweet. It was divine. This food was amazing. Like I smiled with every bite I took. 1st time here and the ribs are delicious, my favorite in Boynton Beach. The greens were pretty tasty too. I didn't think I would find another bbq like Tom Jenkins in Fort Lauderdale but this spot is pretty close. You must be patient tho when ordering and waiting for your food. It is not speedy service but the food is worth it. I went on a Sunday and I had plenty of time to wait. I took my food to go for the family at home. Had lunch there today and my husband and I were the only customers there for 1/2 hour but it did fill up. The music was so loud that a few of the windows were shaking, but it probably appeared less loud as more people came in. We could not wait to get away from the loud, raucous racket!!!!!!! Two couples who sat down inside ultimately got up and went outside to sit complaining about the decibel levels.The gentleman serving food at the counter was pleasant enough but the cashier was beyond rude and spent the entire time we were there on personal cell phone calls and seemed unhappy that customers needed to be attended to. We ordered a small and a large tea (1.99 and 2.99 respectively) and found there is no such thing as a free refill and we almost had to beg for ice since none was initially put in our glasses. No one ever checks to see if anything is needed after patrons are seated - a common mistake in self- service establishments.. The place is clean and simply but appropriately appointed. The personnel there today at lunchtime need some retraining, particularly the rude cashier to whom we were very nice hoping to improve her attitude. My husband had ribs with beans and mac 'n cheese (15.00). The ribs are not baby backs but were perfectly cooked.The beans were fine and the mac n'cheese was served at room temperature but was good. Their pit masters know what they are doing. The meats are authentically and properly prepared. I had a brisket sandwich w coleslaw (13.00) that was excellent. The food is good and the meats are superior. The sauces are also excellent. The coleslaw was ordinary but just fine. One couple was complaining that the potato salad was warm and perhaps not safe but I have no personal knowledge of that. Some refinement in music choices and decibel levels and a new or better trained cashier would be an enormous help. We want them to succeed because there is no really good BBQ in this area and their meats are wonderful. Lunch for 2 was $37.63 and that was fine as I have no issue with pricing. My rating has to do with the brisket - it is AMAZING - some the best ever. The other meats and sides are delicious as well but the brisket is incredible. Our typical order - I get the brisket sandwich and my husband orders the brisket platter. The portions are large so we bring half of the meal home for the next day (or later in the day). The brisket sandwich is heavenly. Loaded with brisket on a fresh delicious potato roll. The sides are tasty too. The sweet potato casserole concoction is delicious & sweet - tastes more like a dessert. Baked beans are yummy too. They do a great job with the collard greens. The dessert case always looks tasty and homemade. Have yet to try the coconut cake but will use it as a reason for a return visit. read more

First let me say I love the BBQ! What I don't love is that they sell out quickly on the weekends. We tried to call on Saturday starting about 6pm to place our order. The phone was busy or sent us to VM. We sent the guys and they came back with just ribs - though they were really good we wanted some brisket (they were out) and some chicken (they were out). The sides were good - the collards are my favorite - but the mac & cheese seemed old. The beans were good as was the cole slaw. Walked in the order, looked at menu on wall, not one word from staff, just cold stares and very unwelcome looks. Stood there for about 5 minutes then walked out and went elsewhere.
