I was really excited to try Troy's BBQ after reading the mostly excellent reviews. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. I went this afternoon to pick up lunch. There was a drive through window, some nice outdoor seating in front, and inside had a nice vibe as well. It is cafeteria style, and as I waited to place my order, I noticed service was a little slow. And the smiles and good nature that some other reviewers mentioned... I didn't experience any of that except for the girl who rang me up. As for the food... I ordered ribs, brisket, collards, baked beans, and Mac and cheese. The collards were the best thing I tasted. The brisket had decent flavor but was dry. My husband said that the baked beans were overly sweet and that there was something just a little off about the Mac and cheese. Finally, the ribs. Honestly, they were inedible. Most of the rib pieces I got must have been from the end. It was all cartilage through the middle with dry meat attached. I've never had ribs so bad. I really don't like writing poor reviews, but this was just not good. read more

My friend and I like to try different restaurants and this past week we experienced Troy's BBQ. Everything looked so good it was a hard choice brisket, ribs, chicken or pulled pork. We ordered the rib tips and fries and a side of Mac n cheese. Oh my goodness, fall off the bone, meaty riblets and they were delicious and a good size portion. As was the Mac n cheese and fries. I really want to like this place four-star good. They just keep making it hard. It's the bone chips, and the inconsistency, mostly. They need to dress the meat better. Small bones are common in the ribs, the collards. Small bones are a choking hazard, and, some of the sharper ones can be a little dangerous. They need to be a bit more aware of that. It makes my enjoyment of the rest of it a bit cautious. The food is erratic, too. The barbecue beans are spot-on some days, swimming in brown sugar others. The coleslaw needs to be drained because it doesn't look appealing on the ice there. When the Mac and cheese looks dry in the steam table, that's not making me want it either. The back of the building is kind of also a turn off. They do the smoking at smokers in the back, but the area that used to be parking is dirty and disorganized. Doesn't It's a nice place. Clean. Well run front of the house. Nice desserts. Compare to Jenkins in Fort Lauderdale, with similar style but much better cooking in the kitchen, smoker, etc. Not terrible just not a wow. read more

the service here was great! we had a lot of good laughs with the staff, the whole place had a friendly vibe. our food was not the best though. all of our meat was dry, and the mac and cheese was terrible. the rice was okay, and the fries were great. the sandwiches were hard to finish though. probably would not come back. read more

I'm glad I finally got to give this place a chance after hearing good things about it. I ordered the rib tips after seeing it frequently mentioned in previous reviews (thanks yelpers, you didn't steer me wrong!). It was a good choice vs. regular ribs as they're easy to eat, there's no pressure to finish a whole rib if you can't, and the added bonus of not knowing how many ribs you actually end up eating is guilt free. I got the "original" sauce on the ribs, which kind of has a tangy flavor that I thought was just ok. Next time I would rather get sweet or spicy (or combo!). In addition, I ordered a bunch of sides to bring home to the fam and share: mac and cheese, potato salad, collard greens, yams and a few pieces of cornbread. I have to say, all the sides except the Mac and cheese really blew me away. Collards, yams, and potato salad especially. Next time, I'm getting quart sized containers instead of pints...they were THAT good. The service was super fast- luckily we came during a slow part of the day. My only complaint would be that they need to update their online menu as prices for certain items have increased. Definitely my new go-to BBQ spot! read more

She began reading off some of our fellow Yelpers' recommendations and we agreed we would definitely stop at Troy's the next time we were in the area. Well, it didn't take long, we purposely detoured on our journey back south to have dinner at Troy's tonight. A clean easy accessible parking lot and a Friendly "Welcome to Troy's! " as we ( and every customer after us) entered the restaurant. Large easy to read and understand the offerings and combinations were posted on the menus before you walk up to place your order. My wife chose the Beef tips and I chose the Pulled pork. Dinners come with your choice of 2 sides and a slice of cornbread. I chose Collards and Baked Beans. They gave popular bottled beers and feature beers from Funky Buddha, Due-South Copperpoint, and Sunshine City. I chose the Blood Orange Wit after being given a sample taste. Plenty of clean tables, high tops and booths to choose from. The contributing factors to compel me to give 5 Stars: The food is absolutely fantastic with some pluses... Hot Pepper vinegar to go with my tender Collards..... Regular, Sweet and Hot sauces to compliment your meat choice..... And Banana Pudding! ! ! (Wish I had room this trip) They also have Red Velvet and other Pudding and fresh baked choices. I was super impressed and will come back. I had the Brisket, the spareribs, the pull pork. They were all impressively huge portions. They were all equally incredible tasting. Hands down the best Brisket I've even had. I usually am not a big fan of spareribs because they are rarely done right. These spareribs where perfect. The corn bread was magical. It's cafeteria style so read off the menu what sides you want before you go up. Ribs have a great dry rub that I can't decide wether I like the ribs or brisket more... the brisket was so moist. OMG I can't believe I've lived in Boynton Over 6 years and had never been to Troys!!!! Best BBQ in the area hands down. Best ribs, best mac & cheese, best coleslaw, best brisket and they have my favorite beer, Cooperpoint Blood Orange, on tap!! Plus they now have a very nice restaurant with tons of space and a drive thru. We always end up getting the family meal. Comes with 3 large sides, a full rack of ribs and chicken or brisket, we switch it up. With beer and soda usually ends up around $50 and it's soooo much food I have lunch for the next few days. I take their ribs the next day and put them under the broiler for a 15-20min and they come out so good. The service is always great, staff is friendly and service is fast. I've been there many times now as I like to try a place a few times before I review it and the only time we had any issues was the first time the brisket was on the dry lean side. However after that one time it's been amazing. I just ask for a cut with more fat on it now. They also ran out of ribs on one of our visits, but for me it's a small price to pay for some great BBQ. I stopped here on a Saturday afternoon and the place was lively, clean, and well kept, with customers in and out for take out, some dining in or out on the patio, others going through the drive thru. I ordered a brisket & ribs combo with a side of collard greens, and baked beans. * the combo also comes with a piece of corn bread. And a soft drink. The sides were ok. I had a bite of each and put them to the side. No sides for me next time. The corn bread was bland; definitely doesn't taste like corn bread. The brisket was flavorful and moist. I tried 2 of the 3 sauces at the table; one sweet, the other tangy. They were good, but not my thing. The brisket is moist & flavorful enough not to require a sauce. The ribs looked a bit dry, but were full of flavor and juicy. I passed on the sauces again. Overall, good BBQ spot. read more

This might just be the best BBQ I've had in South Florida! Ribs and brisket are amazing here. Decided to check this place out early Saturday afternoon right before the lunch rush. Restaurant was quiet and clean and employees were nice & friendly and all wearing masks too. I ordered the brisket dinner with candied yams and Mac & cheese as sides. Also went with two different sauces: spicy and sweet. Husband had the same except for baked beans and candied yams as his sides. We also ordered a banana pudding for dessert. Ribs were not fall off the bone, they were even BETTER. The ribs & brisket were both perfectly tender and the sauces were just as great. Spicy sauce has just the right amount of kick to flavor ratio. While the sweet sauce adds a nice blend of sugar and smokiness. I am a huge fan of both Mac & cheese and yams and Troy's version of these did not disappoint. Baked beans were full or flavor and cornbread was good too. Lastly, the banana pudding was very yummy only regret I have is not getting my own. Drive thru works like a charm! A pound of brisket with Troys original sauce is my "bbq go to" for two. It is so dang moist and delicious. The rice and peas are seasoned so perfectly--not salty, just great flavor and the cole slaw is always a winner (not creamy but tasty and tart). Get a quart for the week. Usually love this place, but they did me dirty today. They have a beef rib special. I love it. They stop running it for a while, and apparently started back up. Havent had it in months and months. Called to make sure they had it, they said yes. I get there exactly 8 mins later, and literally no one is in there. Ghost town. I go up to order, and they dont have it. So i ask " so the 8 mins it took me to get here you ran out" they pause and say yes. Im a loyal customer, the lady who is full time there knows me by face. No apology. No offer of anything else of any kind. Just went on my way. But no guests are there, so they took it all to go i guess? Seems doubtful, and really bizarre. Moral of the story, cant trust them. Just disappointing really, because they do have a good product. Theyre always running out of everything before normal 9-5ers get out of work. This was around 4pm even. read more

Wow! Just wow! I had 4 or 5 people tell me about Troy's in a 2 week period of time so I decided it was time to try it. My favorite BBQ is brisket so that's what I ordered - my 2 side dishes were baked beans and mac n' cheese. My hubby ordered the Chicken and Rib combo with collards and mac n' cheese. First let me say that the brisket was tender and moist. Whatever rub they use is amazing and makes it not need any sauce at all! (Disclaimer: I had the sauce anyway because their sauce is delicious). The mac n' cheese will make you slap your grandma! The collards were great and not a bit bitter. The beans were like dessert - a little too sweet for me, but delicious if you're into sweet beans.
